I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
I admit I’m now tempted to roll an Asuran Ranger who simply numbers their test subjects. Specimen 1, Specimen 2, Specimen 3… in the order I find them…
Erm… my reading of the 401-500 crafting was that it uses time gated mats, so there is no ‘fastest way possible’.
Vol, do you think the precursor prices, for Storm, and other precursors will fall eventually?
You kinda have to assume ALL of the precursor prices are going to plummet.
First, once there is a means to consistently craft them – no matter how onerous – those players who HATE the TP and fiscal PvP are out of the buyer pool, forever. Its not a rational calculation of which method takes more effort, its the sheer glee of saying “screw you, flippers!”
Then you have to consider that when they release a second wave of legendaries, many people will prefer the new shiny over the old dusty, and there’s another chunk of demand gone. It almost doesn’t matter if the new weapon is better or not (and odds are it will be for many, many weapon types).
With all the cores dropping, maybe people needed globs to get dust to fuse them to lodestones?
Since you can’t craft the emblem, I’d be expecting a big ol’ NO.
I bought the Bard for 40g. Still not sure I’m going to make it into a Legendary.
(I’m about 100 Ori ore form finishing Infinite Light, so my Lodestones are spoken for )
Charged Cores and Lodes have gone dramatically down.
The parts of the economy I care about are doing quite nicely, thanks .
Maybe they can include those skins as part of the armoring professions 401-500 extension .
Got any evidence to support that?
I’m the first to say I don’t have absolute numbers, but all of the evidence I’ve found points towards you being wrong. I provided some. Care to do the same?
I’d say their chosen and stated course of action says it all: when you make a game for money, you please your largest audience – or you don’t get to keep making games.
The 10% being bandied around here makes very little difference in PvE play (most of which is already trivialized by Exotic stats). You can’t use ascended in Structured PvP that I know of… that just leaves WvW, and believe it or not, that’s primarily a group activity no matter how proud roamers are of their individual kill counts and dueling videos… so we’re talking a fraction of a fraction of a fraction are concerned about having 100% BiS for any reason more pressing than simple completionism.
I say this with eight different fully exotic-or-better characters. Yes, its a pain in the backside getting Ascended onto more than one character or build, but it gives me a little something to do in the background to work toward when I’m not out using my fully ascended main.
If you call a single-day 30% increase “resetting”, then you are correct.
I’m sort of curious how a single day anything is relevant in an economy that’s designed to ebb and flow across a span of months if not years.
That it jumped ~+70% for oh, about 20 minutes sounds really, really important… if for some reason all your money was going to disintegrate in the next 19 minutes. otherwise its a big flashy change than means nothing at all to anyone except the speculator who lost his posting fees.
Too pricey? Work on the other parts of your Legendary and get ready to giggle at the double whammy of crafted precurssors removing potential buyers who HATE the TP and want nothing to do fiscal PvP, and a second set of new shiny Legendaries gutting the value of the current array of choices.
As long as more difficult = purely cosmetic rewards (skins, titles, minis) I’m happy to see those who want to be challenged challenged.
Me, I’m too old and too laid back to do some of that stuff myself, but I don’t mind watching the replays on you-tube .
Disagree completely.
The game already had blatant most efficient paths to wealth/anything that can possibly appear on the TP. Champ bags did a great job of opening up good courses of action to players that don’t feel like massing up for dungeons or playing the TP all day.
Perma Death character creation.
In short, create a character and level to 80. If along the way you die you lose everything and start over, from scratch, using a new name. Name of fallen character is kept track your awards page.
If you hit 80, without death, you are granted a precursor of your choice and a title.
Because we need to reward utter cowardice even more?
What makes you think they can be sold?
200 attempts in mystic forge to get only 12 doubloons..
6% success rate? Sounds pretty good, really.
Give it 3 days. This up to the minute flipping out is what the speculator’s are hoping for. Stop playing into their hands.
A real autoloot – when I kill it the goods go straight to my bags until they are full.
There is nothing engaging or compelling about having an extra click after every fight to pick stuff up, or running circles around a battlefield hopping you found all the loot you earned but didn’t happen to grab at just that moment.
I would say the celestial gear is a good look into the future – 401+ crafted gear is probably NOT going to be laid out like a banquet for players with 1,000+ gold to devour in the first month.
The entire point of allowing Legendaries to swap stats is so they don’t have to track down every re-skined Legendary in the game and create separate database entries for them to be converted into. All legendary skins – original stats or otherwise – become the new all-purpose item of their weapon-type.
Easier for them, nice buff for us.
Meteorlogicus is being changed, not fixed.
Art critics everywhere stand poised to pass judgment on the outcome .
(I think it would be awesome if it’s new FX includes a day/night cycle. Way cooler than yet another ‘footsteps’ weapon.)
I’d go with evidence of FX re-work in the screenshot.
Oddly, I had a Storm drop (my first precursor drop) during an invasion in Sparkfly Den day before yesterday.
I have a full set of permanent Pick, Sickle, and Axe on each of 7 characters (yes, $210).
If they add a tier of mats those items don’t harvest, I’ll be annoyed. Ultimately I don’t see them wanting to annoy a customer like me, when they consider how much more I might spend in the future.
Sigils are not going away, but it’s not a given that they slot into ascended gear either.
Tara Strong voices Scarlet.
Keep this in mind if one of your fav characters is the the listand if you are complaining about Scarlet’s voice.
I have one complaint about the voice – a good choice in casting in no way excuses a steaming pile of craptastic writing.
“Have you seen my Aetherblades? They work for me of course. Because they like living.”
Clearly they DON’T like living because about 19,000 of them have thrown themselves to their death against my steel this week.
I don’t buy for one second that Scarlet is scarier than the adventurer-zergs ravaging her minions…
The “nerf” is that some of the spawns are now ‘silver ring’ elites. There were no silver ring mobs the first few days and slightly more champions appeared (it doesn’t seem to be a 1:1 downgrade).
So, there is less champion loot bags per event – but it’s still a very efficient use of your time to farm them compared to any other activity available right now.
Ok, after taking time and the literal kick in the pants loot-wise to focus on getting Scarlet spawned and killed I got… 1 shoulder scrap. I forgot I’d done that zone already that day and had LESS THAN ZERO incentive to do anything but farm champs.
(I say less than zero because 1 shoulder scrap isn’t a reward, its an attack on my bag space…)
Now on the website:
“Legendary Weapon Updates. Legendary weapons are getting a stat boost and an Offensive Infusion slot to align with the new Ascended weapons! Legendaries are also receiving additional functionality: When out of combat, Legendary weapon bearers will be able to choose between different stat combinations for your weapon. And to top it all off, many Legendaries are getting some aesthetic upgrades!”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/september-03-2013/
Have to wonder what will happen to all those Sigils installed in Legendary weapons that will no longer have a slot for them… and to all the builds that get FAR more out of the effects of a well chosen sigil than they ever will out of an offensive infusion…
Buying up all the Dusks that just happened to be up on the TP at that moment and buying out all the Dusks that are being held in reserve off TP to be posted if the price were higher are two totally separate things. And that’s not counting the new Dusks entering play every single day. Add in picking a price blatantly above the average cost to generate a Dusk by brute-force via the Mystic Forge and this little ride is going to come to a grizzly, hilarious end.
This attempt doesn’t have even a fraction of the deep pockets required – there was no concerted countermove to eliminate the half-dozen undercuts that showed up almost immediately. Sure, today is not a great day to be a buyer, but its a fabulous day to watch fools get parted from their money – and I mean seller fools.
“Controlling” the market for 20 minutes and making 0 actual sales at your ransom-rate isn’t controlling the market AT ALL.
They should just change it so the mobs give very little or no loot. It’d help the economy and make people want to finish it.
You mean want to finish it ONCE and NEVER EVER COME BACK.
Not a great plan.
If ANet wanted me to care about beating it every time, Briar kills would grant 2 rares every time.
ANET has flat out told me in the language of reward I should not care about beating her more than once per day.
They are planning to add new utility skills to the game – wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the new ones are in a 4th tier that cost 50 skill points EACH.
Hang on to them.
We have this conversation about every other month – you can make silver doubloons in the mystic forge with trivial materials – the person trying to speculate/gouge you for them in the TP will only succeed if you let them and will lose their shorts if you don’t.
For the sake of the Kittens, just LIST WHAT EVENTS WE’VE COMPLETED in the achievement panel. This “blind list” behavior is stupid and irritating, especially for a limited time activity.
I’m at 12/13 and to the best of my knowledge I’ve done every map. It is NOT reasonable to expect me to perform as many as 13 more invasions to troubleshoot your twitchy code.
Not the same thing at all.
Go wander around the Sylvari starter zone for a while if you haven’t run into the Soundless before. Some of their casual dialogue is… alarming.
She doesn’t seem to be Nightmare Court despite a penchant for pain and suffering and she’s way off the map for a dutiful daughter of the Pale Tree…
Soundless maybe?
I had Storm drop for me today during a Briar Invasion…
Now I’m not quite sure which way to jump. (I like Meteorologicus, but I could also sell it and build Infinite Light RIGHT NOW from the profits).
Make your own. Its fairly easy.
Make your own? You do know that you can’t make these right?
I know I CAN make them. There are several mixes that can produce them. And yes it’s tedious, but it’s also crazy cheap.
I actually found the Crown Pavilion’s six bosses spawning in pairs to be a pleasant and relaxing farm. I could just go down there and chill for an hour or two, walk away with a few lodestones from the destroyers, and have plenty of time in the gaps to manage my bag space.
I enjoy the Queensdale train, but only because I tend to run that train, calling out champs and generally getting and staying one step ahead of all 6 timers (yes, the non-event spider too).
Prior to the champ loot, I was fond of harvesting my way across Orr – again pretty relaxed and more of a memory puzzle predicting where the big nodes would be than any sort of major monster grinding festival.
It’s pretty simple, really: I came to fight Liadri, not the UI…
I rarely buy crafting mats on the TP.
But I also have mental maps of all possible node locations for a few zones – I spend a lot of time wandering and harvesting.
That has me curious, Penguin. I do usually walk away with 2 cores, but I’m rarely seeing any lodestones even out of the 20-25ish champ loot bags per invasion.
Any further details you can share?
Make your own. Its fairly easy.
looking at the vendor, the raw, unused skins being offered for your ticket now do not say account bound.
If you are running a support build, you are BUILT TO GROUP, and should expect to have to do so to get maximum utility.
If you want to farm solo, you need the proper implements. In dense pack events like Pen-shelt my guardian is the king of tapping and radiate HPS to anyone and everyone around me while I do it. FOr the slightly looser spawns of the invasins, I favor my ranger – axe/axe because Axe #1 taps mobs like nobody’s business, then swap to shortbow for laying hard single target DPS on any champ I’m not sure I have tapped yet.
And I’m raking in the champ loot bags running solo and still rezing everyone around me as a high priority behavior. It doesn’t take that many hits to earn kill credit.
The Hounds of Balthazaar may have a counter point to offer you… once they are done ripping things to shreds and are back on cooldown.
And snow leopard-form’s sprint and stealth are still pretty much THE end all be all for “racial skill that breaks limitations imposed by your choice of class”
Until direct-to-graymatter downloading is perfected, I’d say spending a good 6 minutes reading the wiki will tell you 95% or more of what you need to know about the Mystic Forge.
I’m not seeing any more Infinite Light wielders this month than last – and I’m closing in on mine .
Possibly the worst thing about Scarlet is she has plot-immunity… Forever.
These invasion are part of the permanent content. That means the Ms. Harley-Quinn du Salad’s plot-endgame will put her in some permanent untouchable state from which she launches these waves from time to time.
Well, I’m just trying to be forthright. Our intention was for the booster not to affect them, but it currently does. Rather than yank the rug out from underneath you, we are letting you know ahead of time that we intend to change it and that the change will be coming soon.
My error. I had gotten this thread entangled with the antics that are going on with the liquid karma (rather than liquid WXP)… where drinking it as quickly as possible after the patch appears to have been a huge mistake.
