I run my zergs in EOTM by focusing more on grabbing karma/exp and avoiding enemy zergs completely. I look for the fastest and safest route. If I have to fight a defending/hunting group, then I’ll try my best to get the group of PVE-oriented uplevels to utilize positioning and AC spam. Sometimes it works, sometimes I just facepalm when only 4 out of 30 people listen. If I have a few guildies with me on TS, the fight becomes a lot easier (think mesmer veil/portal and thieves with SR spam).
The only time I actually actively defend or sword-hunt in EOTM is when my guild feels like having some fun. =p
It’s a 2v1 because it is the only way for JQ and TC to beat BG. Not the soft 2v1 where you have a mutual understanding of when and who to focus on, as with BG + TC and BG + SoS, but a real 2v1 where 2 servers are free to stand next to each other or back up each other’s zerg groups. Despite all the cries of “we only want BG tears” or “BG = stackgate”, it all boils down to the fact that this is the ONLY viable option for JQ or TC to have a chance at 1st place. Also because it’s sweet revenge for being stomped in Season 1.
One thing you’ll never see is a commander from neither TC or JQ claiming that their server can match BG in manpower, coverage, tactics, or discipline/cooperation of individual players.
The Balthazar event is bugged. The Pact members are stuck with no “morale” bar and 6/7 are revived but the last one is missing. It has been bugged for 2 days; I believe I speak for a lot that although event bugs aren’t that big of a deal, this is the only place to get Obi Shards for Karma (unless you want to waste it on Orrian Box RNG) so a little reset or quick fix might go a long way. I’ve never seen the event get stuck at this point before so I’m guessing the repro rate is low anyway.
Lol. Took me 5 weeks to make a legendary from nothing. That includes getting map completion and about 1M karma and running dungeons/events for the gold. I have a full-time job and I go out on some of my days off. It’s not a grind and even if it was, it’s a Legendary — they’re not supposed to just fall into your lap when you make a wish for it.
It’s pretty easy to gain levels and top-tier items in GW2 in comparison with other MMOs. You have no idea what a real “grind” is XD
I actually tag up whenever I go to EOTM/WvW/Megaserver PVE events unless there’s a decent commander already driving the zerg. So does a lot of my guildies.
Don’t hate on my Karma/Loot/Exp/WExp/Badges train on EOTM. It’s one of the best reasons for me to get my commander tag.

(Also, try to tone down on the complaints. I swear that over the past 10 or so years, the amount of complainers online and in game conventions have multiplied in numbers. Or maybe they’re simply the most vocal group of people because the rest of us are enjoying the game instead of crying about “broken mechanics” or something that doesn’t cater to our wants/needs/etc)
A 1v1 match would result in BG dominating every server. 9/10 times, BG’s zerg can wipe an opposing one of equal or slightly bigger number because a lot of our players are seasoned wvw players who listens to commanders when, where, and what to drop. Might, Veil, Water, Bomb, Banners. Not to mention they’re very good at positioning the group to cut through enemy zergs.
What amuses me is that people keep stating that the 2v1 is justified because BG bought guilds — as if JQ and TC did not. I guess whatever makes them feel better about the desperate 2v1 tactic.
AC is simple enough but if you have people constantly drawing mobs to Hodgins or grabbing the Ice Bow/FGS without knowing how to use it, I tend to just look for a better group. Leave the dungeon tutorial phase to your guildies/friends, not complete strangers who are probably trying to get a few dungeons done in 1 night.
Hell, in COE, a difference between a good group and a bad one is a 15-minute run or 3 hours of frustration.
Do Different On-Crit Sigils work on 2H weapons now?
Is it now possible for 2-handed weapons to have two functioning On-Crit sigils like Superior Sigil of Torment (On Crit Torment) and Superior Sigil of Earth (On Crit Bleed) to work in 1 weapon like a shortbow or a GS?
When equipping the Dredge breastplate, the back items and stowed shields/weapons become lopsided. I wouldn’t mind a bit of clipping but compared to where it should be, this back item is way off. Thankfully, it doesn’t have the same issue with most chest armors but this one might be something you guys can do an easy fix on, hopefully. If not, there’s always my trusty Aetherblade armor.
The first 3 pics (in Vigil’s Keep) show the lopsided back item and rifle position.
The last pic (Dredgehaunt) shows the correct position.
I’d rate the ranger charr at 6.5/10. It’s hard to get the right armor combination for medium/light on Charr but you did a pretty good job at it. The only thing that bothers me is that there’s too much large horns/spikes (for me) in that armor combination.

Get a legendary and just skin everything else according to your preference. If you like the appearance, I see no reason why you should skip on it simply because it doesn’t give you a sense of accomplishment.
I guess the rifle skins, helmet, back item skins, halo, and horns don’t count.
Yes, Anet is still a business and needs revenue in order for employees to earn money. I think they have a pretty good balance when it comes to their gemstore and in-game-only acquisition loadout.
To be fair, it doesn’t take much to earn enough gold to buy the armor/weapon skins from the gem store. 800 gems cost about 60~70G only IIRC. If you don’t want to pay for it, then save up some in-game currency for it. If you don’t want to pay for it with real money and you also don’t want to save up gold to buy the gems for it, then I don’t know why you even bother playing this game anymore. And in case you forgot again, there’s a lot of other non-gemstore items out there.
Op, you’re having issues of some sort. I have a Sony VAIO laptop running a Q770 i7 quad core at 1.73 GHz and an NVidia GT425M graphics card that I had to tune down to keep my laptop from crashing (known issue with the 400 series of mobile cards), running 6 gigs of RAM. I run on medium settings with shadows off and will sit around mid to high 30’s outside of zergs and probably around mid 20’s in the LA zergs, sounds like you’ve got much better hardware than me too.
I would, as others have suggested, clean everything out, open up as much of your computer as you’re fully comfortable with doing and use some compressed air to clean away the dust. Make sure to focus on cleaning out the fans, heat sink fins, and case vents. You will also want to make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Check the manufacturer’s website, they generally make it pretty easy to update (NVidia has an auto detect feature which will check which card you have and your driver version, and let you update it from there). If problems still exist watch your processor temps, you may have some broken down thermal paste causing overheat issues. Monitoring those temps can help point you in the right direction, though your description would suggest a GPU concern. If temps are stable you may try over clocking your GPU, but that’s a risky endeavour, in my book at least.

Definitely would not recommend OCing a laptop. Just a really horrible idea.
I had an Asus G75 before and those are known for having excellent heat management but I never dared to OC it.
Mobile cards are not the same as regular GPU. So something like a 660M is much less powerful than a real 660 card.
I’m running this game with i7 4770k at 3.5~4.2GHz (Auto OC function via Mobo; I don’t feel the need to manually OC it higher yet), 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA 780. I still get some minor FPS drops during large events but that’s probably because of my internet connection lagging behind with loading every single detail and action from other players and mobs. I’m using 50Mbps cable service via WiFi which is fast but unstable at times. Probably also because I have the settings at Ultra HD at all times.
I initially regret getting my Leatherwork to 500 because after making my Warrior, I wanted to turn him into my main toon. This changed that so I’m kinda glad it’s imbalanced =D

I’ve seen plenty of guys with the Anet tag on their head in my server (Blackgate). Maybe 2~3 times a week. I don’t really see the need for some glorious shining GM with exclusive GM-only gear to descend from the skies to grace the mundane mortal lives of Tyrian citizens. That’s something I’ve seen a lot in Korean MMO grinders but thankfully not in GW2.
The halo looks fine to me. Subtle enough not to be an annoyance and visible enough for you to notice it. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn’t get transferred to my clones when I’m on my Mesmer. Otherwise, it’s a very nice addition to my cosmetics bank.
I use a shortbow / longbow build. I made my own build and have tested it against others before. The shortbow being my main weapon as a condition ranger and the longbow is used as my opening weapon and finisher (stealth > KB > rapid fire; or just rapid fire). Yes, there are other weapons I could pair up with the shortbow for the condition build like an axe+torch combo but so far I’ve been far more effective in PVE/PVP using my current set up.
I was actually testing my build against zerker ranger builds and so far I’ve been able to kill them with ease. The only ones that give me trouble are spirit builds but I still win against them more than not.
I think the OP is saying that people don’t really have to “farm/grind” for a Legendary. That you can still get it by just playing and enjoying the game anyway you want to. I don’t own a legendary but I do own several expensive exotic weapons/skins and I’ve made 6 Lv80s in full Exo/Asc gear..plus the mini pets like Tequatl, Molten Firestorm, etc.
All of those I’ve obtained from August 2012~November 2012 (barely); August 2013~present.

ANET is very consistent with their non-P2W policy and really, a nice armor skin is more of a luxury than a necessity. Unless those armors came with stats above Exotic level, then your claim has no defense. It’s a subscription-free game so the fact that they’re making money off the aesthetics while actively adding new content every 2~4 weeks is one of the reasons I came back to this game. It’s a good..no, it’s a GREAT business model.
I guess no matter how well you do things and try your hardest to please the audience, people will always find something to nit-pick and B*/complain about.
During my 9 month long break from GW2, I kept logging back in every 2~3 months to check in on the game. The Karka invasion did not interest me, the SAB had no effect, even the Aetherblades’ allure did not draw me back in.
But on a certain day in August, I happened to log into GW2 and took a stroll around LA to see what’s new and interesting. I found myself face to face with the laurel vendor and lo and behold, there he sat: Chauncey Von Snuffles III. Since August, I’ve made 5 Lv80s and about 1000+ G playing the game. Still actively playing it.
Also, bought the holiday minis as soon as they came out earlier today. =D
First of all: the weapon/face skins. I love that dagger and I’m sure a lot of people find the staff and the axe to be great as well. The gas mask is perfect for my little Asuran engineer so props to the designer for that.
I love the fact that we’re able to have both group and solo content for this event. The group part are the “zerg missions” to get through the floors and solo part are the chambers. Of course you can do chambers as a group if you’d like but that’s an optional only. The design of the interior is amazing and it really does give you a good feel of being on an adventure. I’ve been playing GW2 since prelaunch with 5 — almost 6 — lvl80s (although I had to take a 9-month-long break) and I still find it fantastic. Sure, Scarlet Briar does seem like the typical “mad villain” of Tyria but hey, every series needs at least one. I don’t know about you but I am excited to see more of what this game has to offer.
Stop being so cynical about everything and enjoy the game for what it is. Try to remember the main reason you started playing GW2: to have fun. You either have to explore other content of the game or you just burned yourself out and just need a break from it. The magic is still there, it’s up to you whether you want it or not.
1) You chose to be full zerk despite knowing the disadvantages glass cannons have in certain PVE settings so don’t complain.
2) There are people out there running with Zerk gears — my Elementalist for example has 70% Zerk gear — who are able to solo chambers and run through the tower just fine. It’s all about using your advantages to get through instead of trying to take a stroll in the park.
I was at 3/4. Now I’m back to 1/4. Champ Slayer was taken out and 1 other thing that I can’t recall. Anyway…

A-Net has spoken. The programmers have determined the issue too risky to fix since it might do more harm than good. I’m not a programmer and I’m not here to tell anyone how to do their job. It sucks but I’ll take their word for it. I wish I could have gotten the 20 laurels that I need to get my Chauncey..especially since I was one daily quest completion from getting it but whatever. I’m still glad to be back to GW2 after a 9-month hiatus. So, instead of arguing, complaining, and begging for some compensation, I’d advice everyone to just accept that it was a mistake, it sucks but it’s not the end of the world so move on.
So far I’ve seen a few thieves running around WvW with the new RoPerp build. Thief DPS is already great as it is and it’s quite ridiculous how easy it is to stack confusion right off the bat. Of course you can use some skills to take out the debuffs but most classes are very limited on this unless you’re built for it.
So…is there a nerfbat incoming to smash the Rune of Perplexity or should I go ahead and use my other set for my Thief? I currently have 6 on my Mesmer, which I think is quite balanced to use on them but borders on abuse with War, Thief, and Engi.
No item given to me. Just 2 Charr warriors and a crapload of dying. I barely even recall this encounter in my other 2 toons but now, it’s nearly impossible to kill it alone.
“Attack champ —> champ teleports around + summon swarms —> all NPCs die in 5 seconds —> Locust swarms me —> use invisible and still being followed/damaged..then I die.”
Even if I do manage to hold my own for a little long, the boss regens HP like crazy as soon as he summons more stupid locusts. Why should I be forced to play with other people just so I can finish this low-reward PERSONAL story quest?
I bought the 2 Halloween costumes and 2 keys. If I really like the items from the BLC, I would maybe try to buy $10~$20 worth of keys and gamble with that. If I get it, cool..if not, then tough luck.
Some people tend to feel entitled to a golden ticket item just because they spent over $100 on keys. Set your own limits and exercise fiscal responsibility. I’m sure a lot of these people complaining about how the event “sucked” because they didn’t get what they want after spending $400 worth of gems are adults who understand the meaning of random rewards. It’s frustrating but it is what it is.
So..TL;DR — most definitely, yes. If I like what they’re selling, I will purchase gems again.
