Um, no, Players should not be forced to pay gold to continuing play the game. Just because they don’t pay does not mean their server is dead they may just not want to have to pay the gold they earned.
You can say it’s not much for X amount of players to put it together but that is irrelevant, I for one will not pay gold to play the game.
The saddest part is, BG is openly mocking Anet and the fact that they didn’t need to be opened, and yet, Anet probably will open it again and tell us how ET has a higher population.
You know you made a huge mistake when the server is laughing in your face and trolling everyone including Anet.
Honestly, if I worked at Anet, I would cap all maps at 50 players just because of threads like this. Let them sit in queues for days on end.
It’s a game, I am on YB and tbh YB deserving or not has earned the reputation. We are the most hated Server, before I was on YB and got to know the people I hated YB. This is a direct result of years of sitting in keeps/towers and refusing to come out and play the game. It’s unfortunate for those that did not play like that but I do get the reasoning behind.
It’s a bad match up, I would love to see Mag break the blobs up a bit so we can get some decent fights throughout the week.
Lot of you guys who play lot of wvw have most likely realised that currently taking t3 tower with watchtower guild upgrade is near impossible with smaller group.

Whole promotion campaign of when HoT came out was anet claiming that people dont need to run bigger group to cap stuff due to desert bls.

Now that desert borders are only 1/3 of borders, I believe sniping would require some kind of a buff.
Claim buffs are cool itself but it+guild upgrades+t3 gates are bit overkill regarding defence.I don’t understand how desert borders being 1 map correlates to the need of increasing mini-ktraining effectiveness.
Considering the game play of massive battles involving siege warfare, then a lot of the guild buffs just slow down the game mode on the whole. In most cases of post-HoT, ramming is a rare thing when fighting a balanced force over an objective.
Would you remove t3 gates or watchtower ugrade if you had to choose one?
A black and white question that doesn’t answer anything that is bloody grey. The game mode’s initial selling point is for massive battles. It is only with time as people stopped playing that we start to see servers die or dwindle down to smaller numbers. I am against appeasing the idea that less than 5 people should have it easy when capturing a T3 tower or even a T1 keep. That would only perpetuate ktraining, even if it’s scaled down to your group’s size.
If you really want to capture objectives with your small man force, then ask yourselves why doesn’t Silver Wastes satisfy you? The game mechanics at play are similar, but you will meet resistance that scales to your small group. You can even walk yaks, and actually get rewarded! Simple answer, no challenge from open world AI, but AI in empty T3 towers is even more lack luster. I am sorry if you are in a dead matchup where empty objectives is primarily the case.

The games selling point for you may have been massive battles, it was not the only selling point, WvW was suppose to cater to all play styles from solo to zerg.
Indeed, this needs to happen BG should be opened asap, they are on the brink of dropping to T4 due to lack of coverage.
TC has lost a lot of people, a lot of you really don’t seem to have a clue of who is populated and should be T1 in the games current state. TC was completely destroyed last week by JQ and SBI … that’s right SBI a T3 server.
It’s no secret BG is out of control and can literally walk all over every server if they choose, the only servers that can be competitive with that currently are JQ and Magumma. Even then BG will still walk all over them but population wise, TC isn’t even in the running anymore. Mag has managed to maintain a consistent blob this entire match, something I think even JQ struggles to do.
You want balance? Not going to happen. But if you want the closest thing to balance in the top two tiers, T1 needs BG/JQ/Mag, T2 needs FA, YB, TC.
Just checked the T1 scores. No surprise there. BG stomping on everything.
If BG is ever opened again, then it is clear there is no overall goal to balance WvW at all.With regards to JQ.
No organized ocx guilds.

WvW dont raid much anymore and I am not sure about Ge.
Its safe to assume that any sea JQ has is usually 1 commander leading pugs/militia around so no organized sea guilds either.
It’s to late the damage has been done, whether it opens up again in the future or not is irrelevant because in the couple days it was open they managed to stack beyond the capacity of any other server. From what I have seen fighting all of the T1 & T2 servers recently, I would say it’s BG, Mag, JQ in that order for population/blob size/hours maintaining the blob.
Just my opinion of course.
It’snot a surprise, it almost seems like Anet is going out of their way to destroy WvW, the full servers opening, glicko adjustments when it’s unwarranted. Its a complete joke right now.

Why do people have this belief that resetting something, rather then trying to fix it would solve anything? The good ole times, which I also remember, are long gone. Either adapt or you are not going to have fun. Anet has done many good things for wvw over the last several months, I dont like all of it, but considering the years of neglect that preceded it, heck its amazing. They cant force people to play wvw.
Just a guess but probably something along the line of, we’ve been asking for what? 4 years now for them to fix it in numerous ways to no avail. Reset is a more likely option, actually seeing a leprechaun riding a unicorn is more likely as well.
I’d say upped by 50% the second time and 100% the third. So if it was 1800 the first time it would be 2700 the second and 3600 the third. I’m not against people transfering, I think people should go where they have fun and I think these costs would be acceptable.
right now 450 gems is 120 gold which is nothing, so 200 is 50ish 500 is 160sih … the idea isn’t terrible but the numbers need to be greatly increased for it to be worth while.
They do not care about GvG, you should have left that out, you may have stood a chance of them looking at it.
In 1 week, Anet please open BG we’re not full we just play longer hours.
Just merge them, the whole linking process has way to many flaws. Or delete everything make 9 new NA servers cap population at certain points until all new servers are within that threshold and then bump the cap by 100, rinse and repeat until we have all picked our cozy new homes.
You keep telling yourself that, maybe someone who hasn’t fought BG several times might buy it but it’s a no go here.
Unless you have faced BG and know the numbers they can pull. Let’s also not sit here and pretend manipulation doesn’t happen, servers can and do go into hibernation mode to seem less populated to force a population drop.
Why TC? They should probably boost the T4 links up there seeing as how they are the most populated.

Sarge go log in to game now. BG is running a karma train, if this is what you find fun then the servers need to go.
Mags and FA if you stopped back capping, let it sit green, the train will be derailed, give it a week or two, the people that actually enjoy WvW will be gone. Anet just destroyed BG and you have yet to realise it.

I think you are over estimating the saltiness, this kind of move is standard practice for Anet, no one is really surprised that they made a dumb decision. In fact I think more people are surprised they didn’t kitten out earlier.
It’s easy to solve. When you have a week were you end up fighting BG just take the week off. Don’t fight them, let them keep every single tower, keep and camp in their color until people start transfering off.
If Anet won’t do something useful take matters into your own hand.
BG has won weeks by more than this and nothing changed…

1- People want different things, you will never get everyone to agree.
2- You just opened up BG/JQ showing that Anet has a lack of interest.
3- There is plenty of feedback here, if you want people to take it more seriously maybe the timing on opening BG/JQ was a bit silly, you’ve only managed to discourage a large portion of the community and basically make this thread a bad joke in doing so.
Seeing that BG and JQ have opened up again, balance is not something that Anet actually cares about. This entire topic is nothing more than a ruse.

The word is BG has already picked up a bunch of guilds. Not sure how JQ is doing.

They have the account bound inventory slots. I get what you’re saying but it makes those slots and the item itself in the gem store pointless. They can gouge us for each acc. inventory slot and make more money so I don’t see them doing this.

A Commander may choose what classes he/she wants in his/her Squad, if you do not like it tag up and run your squad the way you like.

You have all those stupid symbols all over our names for one thing or another and you can’t just add an Abbreviation for a server?
Sometimes the best answer is the simplest answer, stop over thinking every little detail Anet.
Gotta love these ridiculous and hypocritical statements from people…transferring is bad! Server stacking is bad! Unless of course its your server right? Why the hell should anyone leave a server they like playing on, do you like being told to leave? Do you like not being able to get your guild together?
Personally I don’t think transfering is a bad thing, it keeps the game fresh but opening a full server to allow transfers? That my friend is bad for the health of the game. It sucks that some people couldn’t get their friends on that server but there are solutions other then opening full servers.
The only way for something like this to work is delete all server introduce all new servers with caps and get players to choose their new home from there while CLOSELY monitoring populations via chosen servers. It would be a lot of work for Anet to put server selections under a microscope and players probably wouldn’t be happy about having their servers deleted but if you’re actually toying with this idea that is how it has to be done. If you don’t do this then like so many other have stated, why move? No incentive means most people wouldn’t move.
Another way to make it work is give a big incentive to move, not some stupid bag with an exotic item, I’m talking worth while real incentive. You might get some to move if you were offering something awesome like free gems or ascended items.
Or Introduce new server. delete old one, force everyone to choose, put a 300 population cap on each new server and when all servers have reached the 300 cap increase it by 100, rinse repeat.

Desert bl is the product of not taking any feedback. Beta testers stated concerns, and they did nothing.
I’ve recently found out that it wasn’t just beta testers, core testers also expressed the same concerns. At no point did they listen to user feedback at all.
All of the Desert Borderland design ideas came from suggestions on this forum and a lot of different factions of players. Now you can easily argue that once ANET sets down a path they are very slow or unable to adjust course based on real-time feedback but you can’t really say they don’t take ideas from the community. Even the mostly bad stuff like more siege has a vocal segment of the population that supports it.
That becomes almost irrelevant if they ignore user feedback at every stage. They are taking broad ideas drawing their own conclusion about what they mean and then completely ignoring any and all feedback prior to implementation. I’ve said it before anet’s software development and project management processes are absolutely woeful for something of this size. I’ve worked on small software development projects with better processes and project management.
This is accurate, there is really no point in having testers if you’re just going to ignore the feedback. They basically wasted those testers time.
A total overhaul would be really cool, but it literaly needs to be executed perfectly. If people can find a few things that suck, the community will hate it.
Even if they did listen to the community, people will still find things that suck, what one person likes does not represent what everyone likes. We are all special snowflakes.

It’s still not a very logical argument, links and lack of pop transparency aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. So the only thing you can take away from anet is Glicko and the ability to interfere with it.
Again 1 up 1 down has nothing to do with Links or transparency, those 2 items are their own beasts and will be there whether its glicko or 1 up 1 down or whatever scoring. Your prerogative to vote how you like. The other option doesn’t say anything about ending server links or being more transparent either.
You’re entitled to vote anyway you like but the reasoning you’re using seems flawed, you don’t want match manipulation so you voted no for the one option that eliminates Anet interference ?

As for 1 up 1 down I can sympathise with your point but the problem is thats only an issue for a minority of the player base. Although if you get too low you’ll be linked to a T1 or T2 server.
I’m not on a low pop server, I was on SBI when they got tossed down for 2 weeks due to Anet artificially boosting the CD Link, we walked all over T4 to the point of owning everything and were still losing Gllicko. I’m no longer on SBI but I do believe in health of the over all game not just T1 & T2. Like I said no harm in trying it for a couple weeks, if it sucks and makes match ups worse then chalk it up to failed and go back to glicko. If you think about it the bottom of T1 and top of T2 are pretty close same can be said for bottom of T2 and top of T3 so really the swaps wouldn’t be that crucial imo unless a server like BG purposely lost to go down which I don’t see why they would want to do that.
Either way it’s just my opinion, it’s not right or wrong and ultimately he poll will decide for us.

With the increased volatility we have more variety now. So long as that is the case there is no need for 1 up 1 down.
Other then the fact that it gets rid of glicko and the artificial adjustments. Many people haven’t had the pleasure of rotting away in the lowest tier or had their server placed there because of glicko tweeking only to stomp all over the other servers and still lose rating when you didnt belong there to begin with. I’m not saying your from the top tiers but some ppl replying are, its real easy for them to be ignorant to the demoralization glicko creates when you’ve been in T1-2 your entire gw2 life.
