Should have just merged servers, this linking looks like a complete mess. Then you have guilds come back to the game (good thing) and try to recruit (bad thing).

What date?

We’ve only been back a couple days so all we know is it’s every two weeks. So seeing as how the link was there before reset is it safe to assume the new linking will be next reset ?

On another note, why did they bother with linking?
Why didn’t they just merge servers so it wasn’t as chaotic?
Recruiting is a nightmare because of Linking.
I just don’t get the thought process behind this brainchild.

Maps to big and by design, it’s just not very good for real WvW. It would be a week of Karma Training/Power Leveling. The other maps would be pretty active though.

Little of the original topic but instead of making multiple posts, is there a guide somewhere with details about guild halls and the new banners and the likes. My understanding is you need a guild hall then you need to level it up in order to get the new banners. Is that correct?

The Merges (or whatever they are called) is good for the overall game. OP you are a minority, if you weren’t your original server would not have had a small population. It’s pretty ignorant and selfish to think that they should cater to a select few people instead of doing whats best for the game and majority community.

WvW was on life support, it’s now recovering somewhat because of changes like this.

My third post down in the thread should have shown you that yea, I read the op. And I actually sort of agreed with it.

Your statements about why players left wvw I also sort of agree with. Although I think it had more to do with the fact that Anet had really ignored wvw for so long…..that bled off a lot of players over a long period of time. Now that they are finally paying some attention to wvw has players coming back, and makes me somewhat encouraged about it all.

You’re right the largest part of people leaving was neglect, the straw that broke the camels back was the abomination that happened to WvW when HoT dropped. My original post was directed at the OP and his theory about how the new BL’s didn’t get a good run. They had 6 month … that in my mind is more then enough time to distinguish that players had zero interest in playing them, we don’t need a tournament to see that.

You can usually tell if they’re dueling, it’s not rocket science. I usually ignore the fight anyways if it’s a 1v1 though.

I think most are aware that they are dueling, it’s the principal for me. When I GvG’d we would go to the windmill because it was out of the way, it was a courtesy to the players that wanted to just WvW to not do it in a high traffic area. Duelers have so many options and places that are out of the way it’s not even funny and yet they still go full kitten and duel next to SM.

To be perfectly clear, I have no issues with people playing different game styles, there is nothing wrong with dueling as long as it’s not done in a high traffic area. Could people just run by the duelers and let them do their thing? Sure they could, right up until you get into a fight near them and then watch all the hypocrites jump in to get their bags.

No 1 roamer or dueler is complaining about being run over by a blob, that’s part of the fun/excitement, high traffic or not. If I killed a enemy person in a 1v1 in a high traffic area such as, smc or at South bay then does my win automatically flip said keeps? No. People use this high traffic excuse because they are pathetic and too scared to fight and would rather get kicks out of a half dead enemy already fighting. obvisoly out side a home keep such as border or eb keeps then you are going to get run over by multiple people, but I’d hardly call other paces that bad. And it’s always the same kind of people that do this, ZerglingS that want a piece of the action but don’t want to die trying to solo. I know not everyone’s intrest is to 1v1 but it’s not against the games rules or game mode. Most of my 1v1’s stay 1v1 when an ally jumps in because I can just port away and make it obvious that I am not intrested and kill the other guy instead.

Almost every single person I have ever seen dueling or fighting in a high traffic area has cried a river of tears after they get steam rolled so that’s just a laughable statement.

Who cares if they are flipping or helping to flip SM, it’s not about being a coward, it’s about picking an absolutely kittened place to fight, most duelers have the IQ of a gnat.

I don’t zerg but if your dueling in a stupid area, I am going to run you down. If for nothing else to help it sink in that when you play in the road you get hit by cars.

My 3 year old knows not to play in the street what’s the duelers excuse ?

The correct answer is always keep walking. If you see a 1v1, even if you ally needs help, keep walking.

When you see 2 dudes that you don’t even know at a bar get into a fight, you either watch or mind your own business. You don’t jump in.

The problem is most of the people who look for 1vs1 are to stupid to do it in a bar, they do it in the middle of a high traffic street, and then complain when a Semi runs them over.

So many people are missing the point, Anet is 100% justified and could take actions further if they so chose.

Raiding or Hard Core Raiding is very much a popular game mode across all MMO’s. Those Competitive Guilds do move from game to game to conquer new content very much in the same way that PvP’rs look for new games where they can conquer and become #1 across multiple games.

Now if you are not in the know you wouldn’t have been aware that DnT tested the raids, how many Competitive Raiding Guilds were looking in GW2’s direction for their next slice of pie ? Of those guilds how many will now avoid the game and its raids like the plague because they have received half the story and an extremely important half at that.

These actions have probably cost Anet a good chunk of the Hard Core Raiding community that is out there on the hunt for the “next best thing” I’m of the opinion which ever member(s) were involved should be banned from GW2. Those members directly impacted the running of the business and it’s ability to produce more revenue with their childish ignorant social media posts.

New Map Empty = Bad Implementation

The new maps have to much stuff, tone them down this isn’t PvE, we aren’t here to enjoy the scenery. These would be great maps for PvE but just don’t fit in WvW.

1 up 1 down system, it’s brainless, it promotes variety, and there is no real equation to figure it out. Points determine who is first, second and third, first goes up, third goes down, second stays where they are, see how simple that is.

Merge’s, close the bottom 6 servers and merge them with Tiers 6, 5, and possibly 4. Presto, refreshing populated match ups.

Night capping, I have nothing to say about this, we knew WvW was a 24/7 mode going in, an oceanic players playtime should be just as valid as ours here in NA. Besides, it’s a game, lighten up, if those pixel castles and keeps get capped at night and it causes you to lose, oh well you go down for a week and have new servers to face.

Underwhelming loot, at this point in the game why even include or make it possible to get rare and lower, especially for difficult content. IMO a raid boss SHOULD always drop an ascended piece or Legendary, I would go as far to say that even Exotic gear is pointless as a drop unless its a precursor but at least you can get some ok salvage off an Exotic or a couple gold.

After reading the blog all I can say is, For the love of god Anet don’t included rares and below into Boss loot, it just makes the encounter underwhelming and unrewarding. I just don’t understand the thought process of being stingy with loot rewards, even 3 years in we’re still getting blue and green rewards in chests, and rares in large chests. What is the purpose/point of this ? Reward difficult content with up to date rewards, if raids will eventually require ascended pieces wouldn’t it make sense to reward a boss kill with a 100% chance of Ascended item and a lower chance at a legendary mat ?

If raids require certain masteries then the raid wings should provide enough mastery xp to get what’s needed for the next wing. Mushroom Jumping and Gliding with Updraft is fine for starting because it’s not that hard to get these. I don’t think players should have to grind away after completing the first wing in order to start the second wing, it would be much better to have Mastery XP coming in at an increased rate (within reason) during the raid so a group or guild can move on to the next wing without delay if that’s the route they want to take.

I agree, those stats are not optimal in any way for a thief or a DD I don’t see why players shouldn’t be able to choose their stats as long as it falls within the set types.

Now on a side note, what is this Ascended Elite Weapon ? Where do we get/earn this, I wasn’t aware of such a thing.

Not really sure why they made it so small, let’s be realistic here even if your running 5 vs 5 you still shouldn’t be able to nuke across the entire arena. We have the enormous Guild Halls with what seems to me to be A lot of wasted space and then this miniscule little circle for the part of the arena that will see the most action ?

Here’s what going to happen, they are going to internally make a bunch of changes without discussing it with us. They will pick things from the CDI threads that most of us did not want to see. Finally they will slap an approved stamp on it and before we know it we have EotM 2.0 and those remaining WvW players will finally just up and leave, leaving only the EotM crowd and the occasional visit from PvE players.

I seriously hope I’m wrong but that does seem to be the MO.

Rev stability is a joke, most of the time the Rev outruns their own stability, god forbid they actually have swiftness up because then its almost a certainty that you’re not going to get any Stab.

The animation is far to slow, it should be cast in front of the Rev not ontop/behind, I personally don’t even bother with Dwarf stance because it’s a wasted utility most of the time.

The revenant is awesome, so he’s got to be on something if he thinks it’s bad. As for the elite specs….some are hit and miss.

I agree, I just bought the xpac on Thursday, prior to this I had seen Rev’s played and figured meh I’ll level one to cap but it’s probably not for me. Then I played this weekend, I love the Rev and could see playing it full time.

It depends for me, if they are actually forming a little duel circle in a high traffic area I say kill them all. If they just happen to run into and enemy and say something I’ll typically run right by them.

So basically if it’s an organized kitten in a high traffic area they should be killed, because they are not smart enough to go somewhere else on their own. Random encounters with an enemy that lasts the duration of the fight followed by moving on is fine.

Really, there is always going to be a player or group of players that just don’t care and duelers should expect people to add.

First off don’t confuse what I am about to state with loving the trinity.

The way thing currently work with everyone in zerk and stacking in a corner is far more boring than any trinity. I find it’s also so much easier and requires pretty much no skill at all.

If they could come up with a way to give us the best of both worlds without actually introducing the trinity, that imo would be ideal.

They really need to come up with a mechanic that requires more than just max damage, and stacking in a corner. Increase damage 500% to stacked players in dungeons, if there is more than x players in an area of X range make mobs insta kill.

Maybe make this the heroic mode for dungeons, then people can still mindlessly build zerk and faceroll everything in normal mode.

I think he/she is trying to say the specializations for Thief, Warr, Guard are bland making the 3 classes seem as if they have not been improved.

I agree with Guardian, I think the changes are laughable, Anet took some Ranger skills tweeked them a minor bit and slapped them on Guardian. There doesn’t seem to have been a lot of thought put into it.

As for Thief and Warrior, I like what they have done, though I have to admit it looks like not a whole lot of work went into Warrior.

Of course these are just my humble opinions.

My class Specialization assessment is based off of WvW play more so than any other type of game play.

Specializations
For the most part I did enjoy some of the specializations.
Revanant – By far my personal favorite, I can’t wait for HoT to be released to play more. I would like to see more utility choices overall but I understand that’s not on the table currently. My biggest issue is with Inspiring Reinforcement The animation and placement is sloppy, if you have swiftness it possible to outrun the ability completely making it useless, without swiftness ¾ of the ability lands behind you if moving, seems to defeat the purpose it should be laid out in front of the Rev not on top of.
Daredevil – I have never enjoyed the Thief until now, I found it more enjoyable, it feels like it can contend in a WvW setting within a larger Group format instead of being pigeon holed into Scounting or ganking.
Chronomancer – Fun class, felt very Mesmerish and the specialization fits the theme. A bit overpowered and should probably be balanced but overall fun and good work.
Dragonhunter – I was not impressed, this is my least favorite, the entire theme just seems lazy, as if you took some ranger abilities and slapped them on the guardian. The theme does not fit the Guardian, it was not fun, it is subpar to what the Guardian could already do. It is imo that this class had no thought put into it.
Tempest – Again, it seems lazy, it is underwhelming, I see no reason to play this instead of its previous version. Once again, imo very little thought went into this specialization.
Reaper – Didn’t get a chance to play it enough to have an honest opinion.
Berserker – Didn’t play it at all, have no personal opinion on it but those I did talk to seemed to enjoy it.

Creatures
The creatures seemed on a good difficulty level, it was not a case of throwing on Netflix and half paying attention to the new PvE like I would normally do. I enjoyed the difficulty level but think some classes may have more issues with it than others.
In the new zone if I didn’t pay attention I died. I don’t know if I would call it fun and exciting, but it was certainly more challenging.

World
The events seemed alright, they weren’t exactly boring but again since PvE for me in general is not overly exciting it’s hard for me to say it was exciting. The new event s did bring me into the world, normally I wouldn’t bother with PvE but I was interested in exploring Magumma.

Mastery System
Progression seemed easy enough that it wasn’t a grueling grind. Admittedly I didn’t actually use any Mastery points because the choices seemed silly. I had hoped for more useful choices, Mushroom jumping? I just rolled my eyes.
I suppose it does prove meaningful in the area but again I was hoping for more, aside from the glider masteries (even these to an extent) they all seemed like a QoL system that really held no purpose. As for caring about experience and mastery points, I don’t really care, as I said above the choices seemed silly. It does provide good framework provided the masteries are somewhat useful for the zone I guess. I would be willing to learn more masteries, again if there was more thought put into them.

Stronghold PvP
I really wanted to give this a try but I ran out of time before I had a chance.

All in all I think you have done an ok job so far, a few things that are personal opinions of course, that I am sure others enjoy. I would have like to see guild halls and the arena they will have available to them. I would have like to test the new WvW map as well, instead of having to be thrown into a pool of players, many of which are chosen solely on the fact that they stream even if they lack WvW experience. Balancing will be an issue with certain classes (looking at you mesmers) I hope you get this under control BEFORE HoT goes live.

So after testing (I even made a video if Anet would like to see) if you have swiftness you may or may not receive 1 sec of stability. On the first test I outran the effect and received no stability, on the second I received 1 second. The effect last 5-6 seconds (6 according to my external timer). Without swiftness I consistently get 1 second of stability if moving.

It’s just seems like a wasted skill at this point tbh, if I had a choice I would not take this utility based solely on how poorly its timing is.

Imo the delayed placement makes it pointless, if you have any form of swiftness you benefit almost nothing from it, by the time its starts laying you are already 3/4 through the path.

Suggestion, make it instant in front of the rev as a cone/path. As it stands its wasted as 3/4 of it is behind you when the boon takes effect. If a Rev want to command or frontline this ability needs to function as a cone/path not a delayed ability. To me it seems pretty lackluster in its current state because you do not reap the benefits of a cone/path of stability. You may as well take it out of the game and give Rev’s a 1 sec stability.

AOE apparently has no limits now (it used to hit only 5) and zerg buffs are being perpetually maintained without timing out.

Some funky bugs.

Is that what it is? Got wrecked, stopped going to WvW since no one wants a rally bot and I’ll come back when I have PVT gear or something.

PVT gear won’t help. Conditions are affected as well — you melt before you even get one skill cast off, and it hits ALL in range, not even a 25 cap limit.

EU blobs are running all guardians, if that helps at all. Apparently they are the only class that is survivable in WvW atm.

So if everyone is running Guardians vs. Guardian would it be fair to say Anet has finally given us GvG ?

Well to be fair, are you listening to what you’re saying ? If the damage off the weapon skill is powerful enough to insta gib a ranger by being reflected then yes it might very well be OP, after all who wants to be insta gibbed ? Surely not the Ranger and surely not the person without a reflect.

It does seem a bit confusing, I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around an organized guild build for WvW. So far Inventions makes a lot of sense from a support stand point, it seems to have plenty of group utility with water fields and what not. That’s about as far I can get, the rest doesn’t seem to gel, other classes like Ele for example have lines that compliment their support or damage capabilities, maybe it’s just me but it seems they missed the boat on Engi in this regard.

Then again maybe I am just missing something.
