It kind of defeats the purpose of a stun to break on damage, that’s more of a root. The culprit imo is perma stun as you mentioned, there should be diminishing returns on any and all CC to prevent perma CC, by the third occurrence of a CC players should have full immunity for X time frame. This is how most games I have played handle CC.
I don’t think a stun should break on damage taken though, it should last it’s full duration on the first cast.
To be fair, it wasn’t the RvR model that damaged DAoC, is was the abomination known as ToA with its ML’s and Arti’s that did the damage. Even then they were still doing fine, then WoW came into the picture and killed pretty much every MMO on the market.
The DAoC wiki is surprisingly accurate.
Or you would see all the fairweathers come out because they finally have a new match. Variety seems to bring out more people, stagnant matches get boring and people don’t bother. We can agree to disagree because we can only speculate on what the outcome would be but I still think it would be more healthy then Glicko which should have never been used to begin with.
It’s one week and that bottom server will be right back up in T1, we’ve watch blowouts happen numerous times, and with the randomness going on it’s not like it’s uncommon to see BG tossed down into T2 anyways. At least they won’t have to do manual adjusting to Glicko creating further problems, and in the lower brackets you won’t be trapped because you dominate but it doesn’t really matter.
I hope they don’t, not because I don’t want change but they never do what the community asks, what we’ll get is some kittenized version of what they thought we wanted and not what we asked for that is more suited for PvE then WvW. I have no faith that the end result would be healthy, they’ve dropped the ball far to many times.
It’s really not game breaking at all, 1 up 1 down creates variety and less stagnant matches. Let’s not pretend that Glicko is even remotely healthy for the game, they’ve only had to tweek it how many times? and its still complete garbage.
I can’t believe how many people are voting for the rewards, and this community wonders why WvW is what it is.
Enjoy your green weapon for winning the week.
Just curious about peoples thoughts, if Anet came here and said (I’m aware they won’t) “we can give you a fourth map for the rotation but it has to be an existing map portion” (most PvE maps would be to big for the entire thing) what zone would make a good WvW map.
iirc, they felt their communication was falling on deaf ears and it was a pointless title.
I love how half of you point something out like it breaks my argument and call me a troll. When in reality all those things that have been pointed out are in the actual OP. And none of them break my primary argument as I already stated….in the existing OP lol.
So given how you are all so proud of your little arguments and postings I can only say: Thanks, I made them myselfThere’s a certain level of fail to be found here. And a certain level of rofl.
Expect it when you use a wall of text to QQ about something irrelevant.
They are repulsively expensive and account bound so I don’t see an issue with them. Level up a couple crafting lines and make your own, see how easy you blow through your gold to maintain the food.
Be careful what you ask for.
From previous experience … please don’t touch EBG.
I don’t think it would be wise in WvW current state, there’s to many issues atm, also how frustrating would it be if one low pop server won the link lottery while others got tossed down into the depths of T4.
With that said, I don’t see why they couldn’t do a 2 week event along the lines of triple/quadruple points for kills. Just stay the hell away from anything siege oriented, Golem week was a complete mess and something like that would do more harm then good. They could even do a siegeless week, no siege for 1 week could be entertaining.
No offence but GW2 is a casual game, always has been, always will be, that is exactly what they were aiming for when creating it … casual.
All those things in your list will be found in other games that should be releasing sometime in 2017, I can think of at least 2 off of the top of my head. So if you really want all that stuff just wait for those games, I’m pretty sure the Dev’s will never do that much of an overhaul to WvW this late in the game.
I don’t even ….
The biggest issue with opening servers like BG & JQ is they go full kitten the moment it happens and start buying up the rest of the populace.
JQ was open a week ago for multiple weeks and what happened? Nothing.
There was more then one guild that was scouting JQ, maybe put a leash on your forum trolls, cancer forums and even these forums to an extent are lawls, but when people are scouting your server maybe the trolls should lay low.
The last balance patch was for wvw.
PvE (Raids) got screwed over by it.You really are out of touch with what’s going on..
Really? What, exactly? The slight Boon sharing nerf? Necro axe “buffs”? How was the latest balance patch for WvW?
the mesmer and revenant nerfs were both focused around wvw and completely destroyed rev’s rule in raiding but gave mesmers a extra one in return. that nerf was uncalled for in raids yet happened thanks to wvw.
Actually it was thanks to Anet for creating that monster instead of balancing to begin with. I realize you would like to blame WvW for it but unfortunately WvW is not a Dev it does not create nor balance classes, that whole predicament was solely on the heads of Anet. They could have balanced Rev’s better from the start of HoT but it was their new shiny class and just like every other game out there they made the mistake of not balancing it so more people would play it.
You want to point fingers? point them at those that create the mess and are paid to balance and create the game. The entire meta was a mess for both PvE and WvW, PvE got lazy and relied to heavily on it just as WvW did.
The biggest issue with opening servers like BG & JQ is they go full kitten the moment it happens and start buying up the rest of the populace. If those two servers would just play the game and let people move on their own accord we would be in this mess and people wouldn’t be QQ’ing about locked servers.
TLDR; JQ & BG have done this to themselves and will continue to do it to themselves if they become open.
Once again, did someone say WvW was difficult ? I must have missed it, literally everything in this game is built for casual play there is no such thing as “hard” in GW2 in any mode.
Nah, you just keep saying how much easier everything else is, while in fact, WvW is the most braind-dead mode in this game x’D
Of course, it’s mainly PvE players whining in this thread, if was a a majority of WvW players I would be saying the exact same thing to them, as well as PvP if they were the one crying. As far as WvW being the most brain dead mode, I’d say all modes are pretty much braindead, the difference with PvP and WvW is your playing other people, they aren’t scripted you don’t already know they are going to unleash hell at 20% chances are they will be mashing 1 and it won’t require thought but occasionally a unicorn appears and they press #2.
L2adapt, WvW had suffered numerous times because of PvE, furthermore it’s not like GW2 PvE is even remotely difficult. Oh no now you have to use at least one hand instead of smashing your head on your keyboard, whatever will you do ?
You mean WvW is so skillful that it literally mimics PvE raid mechanics ?
Because first it was the Damage-Reduction meta till anet removed your bug riddled fun, then you WvW fanatics literally copied PvE with healing tempest and boon duration stacking to get perms-resistance.
It’s okay though the complaints you guys have made, have and will give you guys back the Pirateship meta with Ratwells, enjoy it.
Oh good god, priceless, WvW copied PvE because no one figure it out Day 1 of HoT. do you even read what you type ? Do you really think that this game is that complicated that players from each mode didn’t have this nailed day 1? I guess I could say, PvE copied EU WvW because they’ve been doing boon share for years, SoI has been a thing in WvW since beta. I mean it’s not like mesmers ever used lyssa runes + SoI + Time Warp ages ago … nope didn’t happen. TY PvE for giving the WvW such a beautiful gift and figuring this strat out for us.
Once again, did someone say WvW was difficult ? I must have missed it, literally everything in this game is built for casual play there is no such thing as “hard” in GW2 in any mode.
You would think this would be well received, now you guys can come up with new comps and actually put some thought into beating those scripted encounters. I bet the “hardcore” (lol) gw2 pve folks will treat this like a minor speedbump.
L2adapt, WvW had suffered numerous times because of PvE, furthermore it’s not like GW2 PvE is even remotely difficult. Oh no now you have to use at least one hand instead of smashing your head on your keyboard, whatever will you do ?
It’s never been about adapting. Pushing classes out just sucks for those ppl that main it and is quite frankly terrible design. A 5/5 comp only has slightly less dmg than 4/4/2 in the current scenario, depending on what other buffs/nerfs we’ll see in the patch it’s prob not gonna be much different.
No the outcry is about diversity. Yet another class fighting over one of 4 spots, nerfing 2 good builds on druid so it only has a single one left.
If you wanna be a kitten about raids at least get your facts straight.
Classes have been pushed out of every mode from day 1, this is no different, and it’s no different in any other game. I’m not a fan of Anet but I will say they are no different from any other company when it comes to balancing, there is no such thing as perfect balance, it’s a myth, stop trying to convince yourself it’s possible.
Look at WvW, the first few years were GWEN, since HoT it’s been GREN, so out of 9 classes 5 have been optimal for organized WvW.
Further more I’m not kittening about raids, I’m stating facts, they are easy just like every other aspect of PvE in GW2.
L2adapt, WvW had suffered numerous times because of PvE, furthermore it’s not like GW2 PvE is even remotely difficult. Oh no now you have to use at least one hand instead of smashing your head on your keyboard, whatever will you do ?
It was never about PvE. It was about either WvW or sPvP.
And if you look at how the balance was being made in the last 2 years, you’ll see how heavily it impacted the PvE play style.
They should just do the extra mile and split the game modes already.
That would be fine imo, but tbh if all these awesome PvE ppl that are raging right now were really that good (they wouldn’t be PvE’ing here) they wouldn’t even bat an eye at these changes because spoiler alert …. the PvE will still be simplistic enough for a hamster to complete.

Brilliant, answer one reddit, don’t use your official forums or anything because that might be to much common sense.
Definitely need to give us wvw peeps a choice between tomes and wvw consummables. Too many tomes and nothing to do with them, already have too many shards too.
Or make tomes tradable/sellable, they could even add a merchant in WvW that use Tomes as a currency.
snip
I am a team player. I always try to be on tag if there is a large group running. Snip
If you were truly a team player you wouldn’t be selfish and only want to play the one class you like, just like any other sport or game sacrifices are made, true team players understand this.
After a few minutes the commanders either start shaming druids or i hear the squad leaders start telling people running druids to roll another class or leave squad Snip
It is their squad, they have the right to include or not include whomever they see fit. Just because you are winning and not dying does not mean the squad doesn’t have room for improvement/efficiency.
It seems that not many people play elementalist now (still more than play druid however) Snip
This is completely unfounded and redundant, there is plenty of Ele’s but even if there was a lack that doesn’t mean that role should be replaces by Druid.
I know that druids have a TON of helpful skills like area cripple with barrage, piercing arrows, water field and heals in druid form.Snip.
Their heals are sub par, their fields clunky, their arrows usually do more damage to themselves than the enemy if you are fighting anyone remotely competent, basically and Ele can still out preform any druid any day of the week in a large setting.
However… Most of the commanders seem to think that there is no place for Druids in wvw and they start screaming and harassing players to get on a class that matters like guardians, revenants or warriors.
This is incorrect, most commanders realize there are better classes to bring more efficiency to large group play, Druids definitely have a place in smaller scale stuff. Of course they are telling you to play a different class, unlike you, they are looking at the big picture not just want is individually fun, team player you say?
Are druids part of the “Meta” ( i would defiantly think so) and btw.. exactly who gets to decided what the “Meta” is?
They are not part of the meta no matter how much you want it to be, the meta is not decided by anyone person, just do a google search on meta.
Sometimes i tag up and in my squads i let people play what they want, no matter what class they run as long as they play the class well and are having fun. Snip
This is good, it’s your squad and there are a lot of people out there like yourself who either do not understand a meta or refuse to acknowledge it. Fun is subjective, what you enjoy is not what someone else enjoys.
WvW is meant to be all inclusive i would think and i would like to know if there are any plans to include rangers/druids in the current “Meta”
It is all inclusive, squads however are not, Ranger/Druids make great scout and once again, they do really well in smaller skirmish type fights. Rangers/Druids are not included in the meta because of their design and Anets failure to address it, they won’t be part of the meta until Anet starts listening to players.
I feel badly for my mesmer friends also because in groups they are reduced to gravity well/veil bots and very few people play those as well. Snip.
This has always been the case for Mesmers, It’s unfortunate but to a degree all classes are in the same position, each one a setup or two that is most efficient for the team and that is what they should be running.
Are there any plans in the works to buff/fix these problems that would make rangers/druids part of the current meta?
I hope so, I think you would be hard pressed to find a player in GW2 that wouldn’t like to be able to play truly whatever class they liked and still be efficient enough that it doesn’t drag down the large group play. HoT was a step in the right direction for medium classes but they did miss the mark.
Thank you

Because it doesn’t matter?
Besides are you a Charr irl? Maybe they refer to their Female Keep Lords as … Lords.
How’s about we focus on some stuff that matters, isn’t it bad enough the feminists feel they need to change everything else in the world to justify their insecurities? The world will still be rotating tomorrow if this isn’t changed.
Just like every other title, there was no malicious intent behind it when the name was created.
You wear Medium armor thus you are not suppose to be able to enjoy the full extent of the game on a competitive level.
The sad part is if they checked their ego’s for a second and made 1 thread on here asking what we think could make all the classes viable and sought after they would get a plethora of valid suggestion to work with.
I would rather see more exotic/ascended drops then siege tbh, regular siege is what you would get and it’s cheap and easy enough to get that it doesn’t need to drop. Ascended on the other hand, look at fractals they crap out ascended like it’s green gear, I don’t see why the drop rate shouldn’t be increased for WvW. If the idea is to force us into Fractals, it’s not going to happen, you either want to do fractals and will or you don’t and you won’t.
I do believe it does make more profit, this is why monthly subs really aren’t a thing anymore.
As for who would and wouldn’t I think a lot of it has to do with generation, older generations were used to sub based games because that’s all there really was so it’s not a big deal. The newer Generation is used to B2P or F2P with cash shops so they couldn’t imagine paying a sub for a game when you shouldn’t have to.
You know what is sad? Players 4+ years later are still requesting an area to gvg in…..Guild wars lol
They added guild hall arena, they just made it way too small for no reason, being a pvp/wvw player in this game gets frustrating at times.
This, how much of the GH area is useless filler, the GH itself is pretty big and would be more then capable of having an OS sized Arena in both.
Depending on the company, yes.
If it was Anet, No.
If you open that free transfer door for one thing, you need to open it for others. If the Spanish player want to transfer they should pay just like everyone else.
My whole guild of 80 actives voted for it and we like that you don’t like it. Keep the zergs out. The small scale fights are incredible.
Irony folks, get it while it’s hot!
I’d laugh if it wasn’t hurting so much…
Must be T1 roamers.
Seems like the only explanation.
My whole guild of 80 actives voted for it and we like that you don’t like it. Keep the zergs out. The small scale fights are incredible.
Irony folks, get it while it’s hot!
WvW is so broken at this point it doesn’t really matter. I’m not a fan of DBL, the verticality and all the extra dumped in make it a pain. The people I talked to who voted for it said their main reasons were, there was a carrot dangled for more BL’s to come, and they were hoping for a pretty hefty redesign of DBL. The latter didn’t really happen and the former most likely won’t happen in this life time. Many of those I have talked to said if they could do it again they wouldn’t have voted yes.
But it is what it is, it’s in, it’s a great PvE map that doesn’t cater very well to WvW. Here’s hoping they are working on more maps to add, they shouldn’t take as long to design if you leave out all the extra uneeded fluff.
Well the problem with testing the map would be the Dev’s don’t give a crap about feedback. DBL had plenty of feedback that they just blatantly ignored, if it wasn’t a bug or exploit they didn’t care.
There’s no point in testing something if the feedback is ignored, they may as well just slap something together and throw it into the rotation with an approved stamp on it.
I guess it’s best if anet keeps out of the GvG scene – worked 3 years without them and would still work if the devs invested some time into class balance.
No offense, but they break everything they touch.
That may be true but they need to provide the tools for the players to make it happen.
Someone will eventually catch on that there is a huge player base just waiting to throw money at a company. CF seemed to get the idea but from testing they have completely failed in the combat department. CU, I haven’t had a chance to test more then the QUBE (building phase) so if they get the combat right they’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
GW2 had this market all to themselves and could have capitalized, I don’t know wtf happened to be honest, GW1 was all about PvP and did very well. Who derailed the train and decided that they should do a 180 and focus on PvE? The fact that Anet still hasn’t realized the gold mine they were sitting on is mind blowing. When you release a game with 24 NA servers and they are packed everyday with people in 1 game mode, it’s a pretty obvious indication that it’s a gold mine. It didn’t really start dropping off until Anet started kitten ing out.
Quickness isn’t the only boon that needs addressing.
Resistance, stability and protection are also very overpowered when shared.
Stability? Really?
Why don’t we just back to the Pirate Ship meta that was sooooo exciting half the population left.
He just got his router last Tuesday so I doubt its an outdated router issue.
Why don’t they make certain boons cap like certain condis?
One would think this would be the easiest fix, I’m no programmer but it certainly sounds like it would take almost no time at all.
It does happen but people tend to blow it out of proportion, it gives many an excuse for a loss or what have you so it’s a good scape goat.
The reality is, there are scouts all over the place so it’s not difficult to figure out zerg movement at all even without a spy.
The only time it truly has an effect is when the “spy” uses up all the supplies of the enemy by building pointless siege or pulling the tactivators, but that’s not really the same thing as spying.
Honestly I’m impartial but seeing kitten many people do not like certain areas of the new meta would the easiest fix not be to just add hard caps to certain boons? Make is so Quickness or any other problematic boon can not be stacked beyond say 25 sec (random number). I don’t know seems like an easy quick fix.
In a perfect world, but lets try to be realistic, Anets not going to do that.
No one is saying we play for the WvW for rewards, what I am saying is rewards should matter to some degree because WvW by nature costs gold to play so we should be able to sustain that cost within the game mode we enjoy. I don’t want to be rich, I don’t care about shiny this or that, I’ve never had a legendary because to much PvE involved, I do want to be able to fun my consumable and/or and gear changes that I may require.
So aside from hating DBL when it came out, is this going to be the norm going forward? If so, do you have a jungle themed BL hiding somewhere you’re going to torture Green with and leave ABL on blue ?
I honestly find playing in a 4 year old map more torturous than playing on DBL.
I’m all for new maps if they aren’t terrible. I hated the DBL because running around it was a complete chore, the map itself was a pretty cool design if this were PvE but it’s not PvE. They went overboard with the vertical stuff and chasms was a lot of the problem, there was simply way to much going on ion the map design for it to be a good WvW map.
I hope they have made some big changes to it, if we must be stuck with it at it should be playable at least.
One thing i can tell you, is that wvw players havent the same mentality of pvers grinders, so we don’t give a kitten about reward tracks XD, we play for fights and we have fun fighting, our fun is not coming from opening the loot but from killing the opponents.
That’s why people always cried about how rewards were bad and how EotM was much more rewarding?
That doesn’t mean ppl play for rewards, it means they see the difference between the two an common sense would dictate that reward/loot progression should be close to equal. It’s the principle more then anything I would think.
But this person said we don’t care about rewards, then why would we complain when the rewarding is poor? That whole “WvW players don’t care about rewards” thing is a lie.
Sure, we don’t want to turn WvW in EotM 2.0 by overflooding it with rewards, but I’m thankful for the reward tracks as they now increased the poor income I have from playing mostly WvW. That mean less time on PvE and more time in the game mode I want to play.
He/She is wrong, I care about rewards, not because I want a shiny mini per or some crap but lets face it WvW is the most expensive game mode. We have to buy siege, gear changes frequently, Food/Stones (this part can be pretty kitten expensive), server transfer, I would say Guild Hall upgrades are more important to WvW for the Guild Siege if nothing else. I don’t play for rewards but I certainly would not mind having some half decent rewards I could turn into gold.
PvP is a one time charge for the locked stuff, PvE is put on zerker gear and never worry about regearing ever again. WvW is really the only mode that requires gold income on a constant basis.
So I don’t agree with “we don’t care about rewards” but I do not base my gameplay off of rewards, they would be a welcomed addition.
