I agree, out of all the classes guardian is most defensive. But it doesnt feel like a whole hearted attempt to be a defensive class.

Your perception is correct. It doesn’t feel like that because the impact that being defensive has in PVE is less tangible than being offensive. I don’t think it’s half-hearted; It seems that the aim of the devs was achieved when planning out the class and it’s tools; it feels like a good balance for the class itself.

I do agree it falls a little flat because PVE is focused on killing stuff and every class has enough of their own support/heals to be able to play without reliance on ours. I think where the Guardian really shines with their toolset is if you are engineering your PVE teams so all aspects of defense and offense are covered in the whole team make up. In that case, Guardian can bring many things that free up other classes skill bars/traits with better goodies. That still leaves us short on DPS in some cases but … that’s how the class is defined.

For example .. you needed Cayenne peppers and you ran around for HOURS getting 2? Do you realize that you could have made the 9 silver they cost to buy off TP in a 15 minute round of Orr trash farming? The problem here isn’t that there is a lack of nodes dropping peppers ….

Gathering 10,000 silk scraps would take an insane amount of time. Like I’ve said before I’ve been accumulating them for months ever since it became obvious that ascended armor was coming and what the requirement were likely to be and I haven’t got even half of that.

His point still stands and is valid. You can wait for the price to come down to something more reasonable, and it will.

A Brief Guide to a Healing/Power Hybrid

I was having a think on this one. I love/hate it: I get you are stacking symbols for max damage potential and supporting boons. It’s smart. It’s a busy build and doesn’t make use of the mace multiplier. That’s unfortunate.

I question the spread of stat categories on your gear. Is there any particular reason you split your trinkets and Armor across the different stat categories? It’s not wrong, but I’m wondering if you have a practical reason.

Personally, I would have grouped all my zerker in trinkets and made some or all of the zerker armor into clerics. Why? because trinkets are ‘more expensive’ and therefore, I don’t like swapping them as much between builds. Armor tends to be more fixed for a build, especially if you use runes. I would probably tried to group something more like this:

Weapons: Clerics
Armor: Celestical, Clerics
Trinkets: Zerk

I probably would tweak your build to something more like this to suit me:

Ascended armor maths for guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: Obtena.7952

Obtena.7952

Best for Damage I’m assuming? Without the big math explanation, the best damage will simply come from full zerker gear. Assassins might be close but the overall damage loss due to lower power on it is higher than the damage gain from the extra precision. The only argument to mix zerker and assassin is to proc rune/sigil effects more often, but even then, it’s not that significant an increase.

This might not be directly related to your questions but it’s a good read if you are asking yourself how to balance your damage output between Power and Precision. I think this might help you out if you are able to follow the math:

What about stuff like “We’ll have a discussion about the damage of shattered aegis soon” and then nothing? How does that play into your line of thought?

Devs decided to not do it? Their agenda changed? Someone got hit by a bus? That’s pretty much my point … any dev presence you see here isn’t a requirement … it’s a courtesy. They don’t need us to do their job.

I get your play here … convince people that Guardians are ignored because devs don’t ‘interact enough’ with us, start a revolution and then ???. That’s just not a rational approach. Think about their livelihood and what it depends on … then come back and OBJECTIVELY tell us they don’t care. Sounds foolish now right?

A more realistic scenario … their isn’t actually anything of value in this thread they need to respond to. People are unhappy, end of story. They aren’t paid to surf the forums and respond to all the vitriol.

The truth about clerics gear in pve

in Guardian

Obtena.7952

If a group of these non-zerker builds were to do the same dungeon tour my guild does, they would finish hours after we finished.

… and so?? You see the problem here is very fundamental and is based on an unreasonable exception by a certain group of like-minded players. I will waste my time trying to explain it to you because I think it’s worth it at this point, but I don’t think you will buy into it:

Everyone gets value from playing the game. Everyone is different so everyone values different things when they play and by different amounts. It’s common for a group of people who share values to ‘attract’ each other and play together. The problem starts when Group A try to assimilate Group B with non-compelling arguments that Group A’s values are morally superior to Group B’s. That falls apart when all players, regardless of their values STILL get the experience they are looking for from the game. That’s what is happening here.

No one will ever be able to convince a person that doesn’t value efficient runs that the way they play the game is ‘wrong’ when that person can still play and feel accomplished regardless of their gear. It’s the most absurd concept in gaming I’ve ever seen. I can only assume it’s some throwback from people migrating over from WoW. GW2 isn’t WoW, it doesn’t cater to competitive PVE’s AT ALL. If it bugs you that much that ‘amateur’ players cramp your style ingame by extending a dungeon a few minutes, you should really re-think your motivation to play entirely.

If I had to guess I’d say just to get a pulse. If the code was set in play or the patch it may have been too little too late with too much data (our response, thoughts, ideas, comments, or feedback) for them to actually do anything.

That is about the only thing I think could have possibly happened. Ask a question, take the pulse, then collect the data and review it. It may take time, but at least they have it and may use it down the road. I don’t have anything else. I mean I went back and read some of the initial discussion in his post and most people flat out said bad idea why not think of X, Y, or Zed…

You get upfront symbol on good recharge with decent speed and damage from #1 using a strong build focused on farming trash with it as well; 10/30/20/0/5.

The important thing for trash farming is how much damage you can bring at the beginning of the 3-4 second fight. Mace isn’t the highest damage but it can do that better than any other weapon we have.

Full exotics is more than sufficient for everything. So if someone isn’t willing to work with the existing methods to get ascended gear, the solution isn’t to remove a massive part of the game and demand to ‘just give me what I want’, the solution is that you go without those things, still being able to complete content as you did before ascended was available.

Um, the concern doesn’t make alot of sense … I PREFER to craft my gear instead of being forced to do other content to get them. I think the situation as it is now makes alot of sense .. you can craft OR do dungeons, etc.. to get things, including ascended.

Not effectively cause the drop rate is too low plus the fact of getting the stats you want. I want choice and the situation now is effectively no choice at all.

Unless you have some numbers to back that up, it’s subjective. The fact is that you DO have choices in this game for gear, LOTS of them.
