Hey all, recently I have fallen in love again with doing Fractals, and even though I haven’t done it yet, Raids.
I’ve been maining on a Condi-Reaper for a while now, but, they seem not to be recommended for high end Fractals and Raids, so I think it’s time I put my focus on a class that is recommended, and will be wanted in both content areas.
So I am asking what are my options on classes that both perform very well in high end Fractals and Raids, and, are a welcomed addition, since the majority of the time, I PUG a lot of the PvE Content in GW2.

So I haven’t done Fractals in a while, my personal reward level is at 30, I haven’t done them since they changed it from you having to do three and than the final one, to now only having to do one. I’m in mostly full ascended, my backpiece/offhand and underwater weapons are not ascended, and only one of my rings is (infused).
My original plan was to craft +5 vita/agony infusions for my defensive slots, and +5 condi/agony for my offensive slots, but that would only net me around 85 AR, the reason I planned on going with these types of infusions is for squeezing just a bit more stats out of my gear. (I’m a Condi-Reaper.)
I have all the Fractal masteries unlocked, so I can get to the NPC that sells the +7’s ect. my question is, are the stats worth it enough to shoot myself in the foot and prevent myself from doing fractals above level 69 (1% HP loss from Agony) or should I just go full out on the +Agony resist only infusions and max out my AR?
I also do, WvW with my guild, and that was one of the contributing factors for the +5 Vita/Condi DMG infusions.

No. Its too weak. Chill uptime is not as easy as many people make it out to be.
Exactly my feelings, the inability to properly maintain Chills uptime, compared to other conditions (Torment/Burning/Confustion.) makes up for it’s slightly better damage…

I chose Norn, made him the tallest and skinniest build, for that massive scythe in Reaper Shroud, the Leopard form Elite for running or whatever, and the clothing looks good on him.
So my opinion, go Norn.

Last thing I have been really struggling with is, managing a proper rotation for this build, like, I still use staff as my switch to scept/dagger, because it’s nice for WvW when keeping people off an area, or in PvE tagging a bunch of things and not having to rely on my more potent Chill attacks.
So this is what I have been doing for my Rotation:
Blood is Power
Staff: 2-3-4
“Suffer!”
“Chilled to the Bone!”
Weapon Swap
Corrosive Poison Cloud
RS: 4-3-5 then Exit RS.
Scepter/Dagger: 2-5-4-3
Stick with Scept/Dagger skills, and use “Suffer!”/“Chilled to the Bone!” Corrosive Poison Cloud + RS Combo as needed or when their ready to be used, ect.
Any advice, or help on a better rotation would be GREAT!!!

How is it that JQ/BG stayed in T1 this long if they didn’t care about PPT? Close to three years or more, as two of the top tier WvW servers, and yet are being beat by a server that’s been in T1 for what, a few months? Like what tricks/tactics did you both use to get there and stay there as long as you have, if not PPT’ing and only “Fighting”….

This is the build I have been running since I unlocked Reaper, I don’t have all the Ascended pieces that is shown, but, it’s what I am aiming for.
I use this build in practically everything, as I don’t have the money to be constantly changing out this for that. But mainly it’s for PvE and Small-group / Solo-roaming.
I really enjoy this Elite spec it is my favorite by far of the Elite specs, so please help me polish it.

Things have been made this hard, because people actually wanted a challenge in PvE, in Core-Tyria, a player could do everything by him/herself, and many of the mobs could be ignored and just ran past, ect. It became a real snooze-fest, and many people stopped doing PvE because of that.
Now HoT content, is a challenge, it’s harder, but only really requires more thought on how to best handle the situation, there’s an order in which most encounters are handled, such as which mobs to kill first, using the terrain to your advantage and your skills when they are most important is what is expected out of this content.
Besides, ANet already nerfed most of the “Hero Challenges” into being a commune or a veteran, ect. And yes, there will be times your going to actually have to play with other people, and work with them, I know it’s a shocker….

Players purely motivated by loot and being “Rewarded” is only going to attract people out for that and only that, not team players, not people wanting to work hard to come in first each week, but people only there to fill their wallet…
As opposed to having no one play at all?
Step outside the t1 bubble for a minute or two and you’ll realise most other tiers are dead – they all switched to the top three servers (like yours), or quit the game mode.
Anything that brings back greater numbers to wvw would be nice at this stage- as outside of prime time on EU it’s a ghost town.
I understand that other Tiers aren’t as populated as Tier 1, trust me I do.
But what will happen with this idea is, what happens in PvE, you have LOADS of people on the map, who just tag an event, ect. just enough to get “Credit” and then AFK till the event is over, so with WvW, you’ll have people coming in to get these new “Rewards” tagging the event or whatever is going on just enough so they get credit for being there, and then going AFK at spawn, causing psuedo-WvW population, not to mention queueing up every map into a queue-lockdown, ect.
If reward tracks are added to WvW, what happens to sPvP? One of the big reasons people do sPvP is for the reward tracks, and getting tomes of knowledge to powerlevel alts, ect. Give reward tracks to WvW, and you’ve reduced sPvP down to a small-scale, faster passed WvW, where the only big differences are that your can’t wear gear, and some runes/sigils/skills can’t be used…
Again introducing this into WvW will only attract people after those, “Rewards” and thats it… They won’t be there to help the commanders, they won’t be there to help defend/attack, ect. They will get credit, and leave.

I’m part of a Medium sized guild, averaging around twenty people on during our “Prime time” and we’ve been just fine, getting missions done, and resources like crystalline dust, ect. isn’t hard to come by, if you, farm a bit.
So guild progression is fine, these Armor/Weapons aren’t any better than other items, they just look different is all, so it’s more of a “Want” then a “Need”.

I see some of you are die hard happy about the new changes. Yet somehow I don’t think you run with a guild of any size nor have spent much time in wvw. Last night the queue for EB was like 60 and I visited the borderlands couldn’t find any people or tags so I had to go back to ESO. Because although ESO has a really bad lag problem they do not have any population issues that this game has. I’m kinda stuck because ESO’s lag sometimes makes that game unplayable and the messed up borderlands are making this game sometimes unplayable. So say what you want but facts are facts. The borderlands are empty and EB is full.
I’m from Yaks Bend, it’s true that EBG seems to be more popular, but that’s because people are more likely to be on a BL that they can achieve what they want, and EBG does just that. YBBL/BGBL/JQBL does have people on them, and I usually run with my guild quiet frequently, there’s only a couple things that bother me about the new maps, these things however don’t make me “HATE” it like most others seem to HATE IT ALL, ect. Those things being, getting back to the fight after a wipe or you dying takes longer and the keep lords are far stronger than those in EBG. But again, EBG has been EBG since launch, people are used to it, and like it better, and A LOT of people outright refuse to adapt, or figure out the maps, and just jump on the "New Maps SUCK’ train.

Well that solution cant work because the boss is scaled to a 40 man group and you try to assign 10 people to kill it while the other 30 deal with pvp. So people who want to do pvp must do pve so they don’t die in pvp. They should be able to ignore the keep lord and fight the bads but they cant ignore him because he’s too strong to ignore.
What do you mean should? You can ignore the SM lord perfectly fine if you dont want to cap the place. He’s barely any stronger than before – just a ton more hp and a breakbar.
The keep lords on desert border is alot harder to deal with due to mechanics, but people are being kittens when fighting them. Its as if they never played PvE or something. Bay lord for example is the simplest lord ever. Normally everyone rush straight in like the 1111111 zergers they are and get feared into lava and knocked around 360 degrees. If you pull the boss to the left or right side however, you can smack her around like a baby because all her mechanics break – she can only fear you into safety and stairs actually stop the knockback. Plus no gargoyles all around you.
^ This x100, people need to start to think more and complain less, actually having to press more that 1111111, on your keyboard isn’t the end of the world.

Also, your other complaint is about a boss, do you mean the LORD? I’m happy they made it harder, now it takes real tactics and knowledge to get around, and do well, unlike before where, it was just one big loop, and made it significantly easier for the ol’ Karma-choo-choo to get around.

Banners and Tacticts Trait are for group utility dps.
If you plan on running solo, the full dps spec Strenght/Arms/Beserker will be the most effective dps setup. And if you feel the need for condi management you can still take the signet of stamina or zerk stance.
If it’s group content, well the phalanx warrior build is optimal. There’s really no reason to go for another build (viper condi maybe).
What would be the weapon setups, sigils, runes ect. for those builds, do you happen to have any example builds for both the solo and group dps builds?

Been searching on the Forums, MetaBattle, and YouTube.
Most builds center around Banners, and leaving behind any sort of survivability (Trait/Utility skill-wise.)
I get that Banners are great, if you don’t plan on moving from a fight, such as burning down a Champ/Legendary ect. that won’t be moving out of your 600 range buff you get from Banners.
And I know you can Dodge/Evade/Block attacks, but not having any Trait or Utility skills that help you remove conditions, or give stability, ect. seems a bit suicidal to me.
Would I really be giving up a large part of my DPS, by not using Banners, ect. or should I just get used to the playstyle of Kill it in one go, or I die, sort of playstyle?
Any advice, builds, ect. that would work well in a PvE setting such as Fractals/Raids, and general open-world things, would be greatly appreciated.

Knowing that these Revs will be using CoR, and that they would be in a group, doesn’t it make sense to maybe, not run straight in, think of new tactics in handling them? Seeing the amount of damage you where dealt, I can only imagine that your running Full ZERK or an equivalent that renders your overall armor low, with a decent HP pool, so maybe MARAUDERS?

Sooner or later, with enough complaining and belly aching, ANet will Nerf the difficulty of HoT/Raids to make it all just a Casual-players Dream, get a full set of Legendary armor in a week or less, Ascended armor/weapons/trinkets rewards from Meta-events, ect.
As much as I hate to say it, Casual players are just as guilty as Hardcore players at getting content changed, and getting players to leave.
But EZ-Mode seems to be the preferred content nowadays with the majority of gamers, forcing the ones who actually want to be challenged to, kitten themselves in-game if they actually want to be challenged.

If whatever is causing you damage, is within the range of 600, it’s damage (I’m guessing physical) will be reduced by 7%.
So as long as your in close to whatever is hitting you, they will have their damage reduced by 7%.

I plan on using this Toon for all over game play, such as Raids/Fractals/sPvP for Dailies/WvW
I know a lot of people use Human or Asura, partially for aesthetics, but I believe it’s mostly for concealing skill animations in sPvP/WvW.
As for a build, I plan on going with the Burnzerker, because it’s been a while since I played a Condi build, and now due to the Elite spec, Warriors have access to a good Condi build.

Only to be excluded and prevented from experiencing some of the content.
It should be possible for all players to experience all of the content, no matter how good or bad they are, that’s why some content, such as raids should have a difficulty level, with reduced rewards.
So everybody who wishes to, can start at a low level and work their way up.
I agree whole heartedly, Raids should be dictated by a level of difficulty, like Fractals. Maybe in 5 stages of difficulty, 1 being easiest with the lowest chance of good rewards, and 5 being the hardest with the highest level of rewards.
Everyone should be able to experience the Raids, not just only the “Srs bsnss” players…

I was thinking of a class/build that centers around having good survivability, and wins it’s fights in sPvP/WvW through attrition, and not raw DPS, or a toon that is Condi-centric and has ways to deal with conditions, or being bursted, ect. Again, due to me two a fore mentioned reasons, I need to adapt my playstyle to something slower paced and having more survivability, ect.
That sounds like a condi ranger/cele druid, which are also wanted in raids.

From what I see that you want is something like running BM,WS,Dr with a focus on axe/torch and GS. You can either run shouts or survival in utils, whatever you feel more comfy with, they both have strengths and weaknesses. In druid go with cultivated synergy, for the bonus healing just stand next to your pet and you’ll heal each other, next is either nat stride or etching if you want mobility or are in melee a lot and want condi clear,blind and extra healing from glyphs, and then probably seeds for a free cc root every 10 secs on glyph/GS 5 daze.
Then float your gears around that for w/e stats you feel comfy with but power and precision are pretty useful.
