With every class that gets a Buff, comes a flood of Posts about how “OP” it is, or certain skills are “OP” now, maybe those certain skills where so garbage before, but now that they actually do something, people lose their mind, and act like a bunch of monkeys throwing poop at one another. Before the changes to the Ranger class, the class was a JOKE, no one wanted them in Dungeons/Fractals, using one in WvW was a death sentence because every class could take one down with little effort, and in sPvP we had only a few moderately useful builds, that where out shined by people who did it better on other classes. Rangers are useful now, they perform well, and like any other class they have Counters to their most powerful builds, people need to take their head out of the sand, and devise plans to counter them, instead of flooding forums with threads about nerfing them…

Why is it that people plainly forget what a Profession is all about, and all they see is Numbers, I only could stomach reading through the first several replies about how “OP” Rapid Fire is before I started to dry heave so please excuse me if anyone already said this…
A Ranger is a RANGED class primarily so it is a no-brainer that their skills are infact RANGED, people complaining about how RF hits hard like a Backstab from 1200m (1500m traited.) shouldn’t even be mentioned. There are SO many ways to Counter RF it’s laughable, but then again the vast majority of people complaining don’t want to put in any effort to think of ways to Counter it, RF is dependent on LoS so obviously putting something between you and the Ranger is key, I mean every class has the ability to get around being RF’d all people have to do is stop Mashing their keys and put some actual thought into it..

Hey all recent hit level 80 on my Ranger, had a blast leveling him, even with the changes to the Leveling system, and have found myself to be caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to a solid build to use in WvW.
So first off I plan to use my Ranger as a Small group / Solo roamer, I’ve never been one to run with the Zerg unless their capping something large that I can’t Ninja-cap like Stonemist, lol…
Firsts things off my Ranger is a Behemoth of a Male Norn and with that my skills are quiet televised and avoidable due to them being easily seen and countered. I have been looking into Condi Regen Builds, or Condi BM/Regen Builds, and it seems that those are what I am leaning towards, the Trap and Spirit Builds look fun too, so to you experienced Rangers out there what seems to be pretty straight forward as far as combat-combos go, and will allow me to be getting bags and not just giving people mine, lol…
Sidenote I did not make a Ranger due to the buff to RF, I had a Heroic Chest, the Medium armor looked the best to me, and seemed to be very “Ranger-esque” So no I’m not a FOTM.

If your there to help out your fellow guild member, and to spend time with them, then being rewarded for your “help” shouldn’t even be on your list of expectations, besides it’s their Personal Story not yours, and the reward should be knowing that you helped out someone in need.

I feel since this was introduced, that I level faster than before, sure there is gating of sorts, but none of it, outside the Personal Story, has caused me any dissatisfaction. People are simply blowing this out of proportion as they always do when something changes that imposes on “Their gameplay”.
I agree that it feels more like ANet wants you to slow down, and take notice of things around you, instead of blindly cruising through the levels and being none the wiser of what the game offers post level 80.
So yeah, I am having no problems leveling whatsoever.

Well.
I have one of each profession at level 80, with a second ranger, guardian, and mesmer at level 80, a second necromancer at 30, a second elementalist at 39, and a second warrior at 48 or thereabouts. The thief and one of the mesmers have world completion.
I don’t want to rush through everything getting to 80.
I want vast quantities of new stuff so that my new guys won’t be repeating (again and again) the old stuff my old guys did. Slowing the old stuff down and removing bits and pieces of it doesn’t make it new stuff. The tidbits of ‘new’ stuff living story delivers (when it isn’t recycling old stuff) isn’t even close to being enough.
I want new stuff, I want lots of it, and I want it 6 months or a year ago.
Where is it and why are they revamping old stuff (that in my opinion doesn’t need revamping) instead of working on new stuff?
I agree on having actual REAL new content and new stuff to do, it just seems most people view any change they don’t like as, “Bad/Broken or #Rekt”, and when ANet puts in something new or changes something to the same players liking, their like, “OMG why didn’t they do this sooner, this is great.” in my many years of gaming, one thing holds true, people are never happy unless they have something to complain about…

Alright so I created a new character to level up due to reading about the new system, and the many many many complaints about it. I just hit level 50 with this character and from what I can tell, you all are making this WAY worse than it really is, sure there are some limiters that slow you down some, but everyone makes it out to be like, " ANet changed these things and completely broke the game, I quit!!! "
Out of it all, the only thing that I an uncomfortable with is the Personal Story and the level gaps in between chapters, beyond that nothing is as bad as you all seem to be making it out to be.

I also understand the changes to Traits and acquiring them, so many people have gotten to level 80 with less than 20% map completion, they changed it so people have to work for these traits, and not magically learn them from some manual, also helps people be a little bit more informed about the game they play, and not ask so many redundant questions…

Here’s the thing I don’t understand about people complaining about Rapid Fire and how much damage it deals.
Have they all forgotten how to Dodge-roll, or equip some impairing ability such as a Stun/Blind/Interrupt of some sort, a Reflect skill would work wonders or even Retaliation.
Going forward with ideas how to counter this skill, use the Land and it’s Structures to your advantage, put a hill or a wall or something between you and the Ranger make him/her come to you, once their in range hit them with something I listed above and lay on your Spike damage combo or load them up with so much Condition damage that they freak out and lose focus.
It seems to me that people want this game to be FAR TOO SIMPLE and anything that requires thought and tactics is too much to ask for, and it’s not like other classes don’t have access to some ridiculously strong damage skill that mirrors the potential that Rapid Fire has…

I’ve leveled every class to 80 mostly, and enjoyed this game for quiet some time now but, Ele’s have always felt like I had to put in several times the effort to get the same result as someone else doing the same thing, but if you like to be challenged and have quick reflexes to change attunements on the fly and dodge like a chipmunk on crack then go for it, lol!!!

See to me it’s alright getting help along the way in YOUR personal story, it’s natural to be accompanied by other “Hero” type characters along the way, but since it’s YOUR personal story YOU should be the lead “Hero”, it should make it feel like your the one making things happen and saving the day, because as is, as soon as Trahearne enters YOUR story becomes HIS story about his “Wild Hunt” and how you are the pseudo leader of making this happen, when it all reality it’s Trahearne who does the big things, your just given this false sense of “Duty” to make you feel more or less “Important” to the story.
Now I know the living story is not YOURS but I would like to feel like I play a good role in the success of it all, I know full well of others being there, but I want to be able to stand out amongst the crowd, and not just feel like a number.

See the problem with most people is that they look at each class as a Numbers thing, where they take the class and break it down into Numbers, such as damage potential, builds, traits/skills, ect. and if those Numbers don’t appear to be balanced throughout the other classes they have a fit about how X class is OP and needs to be nerfed, not many people actually take the class and put thought into what the profession is used for and what it is all about.

With food being as it is at the moment, it makes it feel like your forced into using it to gain the stat boost or it most cases the +40%/-40% bonuses from the high-tier foods. I feel that food needs to be balanced in a way that it’s a nice thing to have but doesn’t benefit you like it does now, as it is with Ascended and Food stuff, it makes it feel like WvW atleast is more of a Gear battle than skill/tactics, which isn’t fun and shouldn’t be part of the game.

Hey all, I have just came back after a few months of playing a different game, and decided to roll a Guardian since I have never gotten one to level 80 before, but always wanted to!
I have seen several videos and read through some guides, but would like to know some honest opinions on what builds do and do not work, and what might be best for leveling and good for me to aim for when I get to level 80.
With my Guardian, as with any of my toons really, I enjoy all facets of GW2 gameplay, be in Open-PvE / Dungeons / Fractals / WvW / s/tPvP, I really like it all!
So I need to know some Builds that work well for those parts of the game, and since I’m not rich, I need to kind of center in on a few builds that would work great.
I prefer Dmg/Crits over Condi dmg, and prefer not to be too glassy so that if I mess up, or not paying 100% attention all the time, I don’t get steamrolled over, lol…

I am struggling between these two races, Human because of the racial heal that removes conditions, and Asura because well it’s an Asura!
I also struggle hardcore with naming my toons, especially Asuran names because I don’t intend to include their “Profession” infront of their name, lol….

Well I haven’t played GW2 in around 3 months, came back to a cleared out account and decided to roll an Asuran Ele, since besides Guardian is the only class I haven’t gotten to 80.
I have heard from Guildies and read on the Forums that Ele is easily the most challenging class to master, and I was wondering if any of you that have mastered the class could suggest a guide or reading material or even a video on some tips/advice on how to master this class?

Hey all I’m just coming back to playing Guild Wars 2 after being away for a few months, and finding out my account had been hacked and wiped clean and that is why I couldn’t log-in, ect.
So I am starting fresh and am wondering what would be my best bet to restart my account, class wise?
I have played practically all the classes to level 80 besides Guardian/Ele and I rather do enjoy them all, I just want to pick one that won’t leave me out of any of the content in the game, such as Dungeons/Fractals/WvW and Open-World Farming and such.
Since I haven’t played in months I was hoping for a class with good build diversity, one that is useful/wanted in most pug groups for Dungeons/Fractals and one that can handle his own in WvW.

I use the standard 20/20/0/0/30 GS + Sw/P Zerker build, it’s alright but farm to squishy, are there any shatter specs that have a bit more survivability, without sacrificing too much killin power?

I am currently running a Shatter spec for roaming, and while it’s strong, I just can’t seem to work around getting people down, and finishing them off, and thiefs are hard to kill and usually burst me down within seconds, so I am wondering if there is a different build, that would still allow me to roam wvw, but not be squishy, yet still have mobility and speed to catch runners.
Or maybe I just need a shatter build that has more survivability.

Yes let’s just allow a class to be able to be just as tanky as a Warrior, have a crap ton of HP, then Deathshroud, then pop on every single condi in the game in mere seconds, really lame to go up against a condi necro, knowing the application and reapplication of condi’s is constant.

So a Condi Mesmer (Blackwater) is too SLOW for solo-roaming, and the typical Shatter Build is far too “Squishy” for me, and very little/no condi cleansing is a problem…
So what are my other options as far as Solo-roaming that doesn’t make me feel slow or dies when it trips over a twig?

From a Roaming Thief perspective, you’re an easy kill. You can stay in group with this build judging from your utility skills (feedback and mass invis), but unfortunately, you’ll have a hard time roaming with this compare to Thieves’ and Warrior’s roaming builds.
In my experience as a Thief, I respect the Staff/GS Phantom Shatter build. Other Mesmer builds are child’s play. You can’t crit what you can’t see, you can’t interrupt what you can’t see, and you can’t reflect a backstab.
But I’m open-minded on builds, you might just pull it off — who knows?
Well 7 more days and Stealth orientated thiefs, won’t be such an issue. (No offense)

Yeah those Runes of the Traveler are a GREAT investment for a Roamer, seeing as how speed is key and you don’t want to use a focus, these runes would be really worth getting.

I was looking into that build, it’s one of Osicat’s Shatter spec’s, the video on his website, and the stats looked nice, but since I don’t have ascended trinkets yet, I was wondering what exotic ones I could use for the time being and not diminish the build’s power too much, any thoughts?

I was wondering which Mesmer build benefits most of using a full set of Traveler Runes, I do small group stuff and solo roaming in WvW, and while I like using the Blackwater Mesmer build it’s lack of speed boost of any sorts gets me no where quick, lol…

Currently I am using the “Blackwater” Mesmer build, I like it, but the lack of a Speed boost via Focus or Trav runes, put’s a damper in things.
Also since I am trying to find a build that operates well in Open PvE/Dungeons and WvW (sPvP is a separate thing, so don’t need one that functions there.) As far as WvW goes I want to mostly Solo-roam w/ small group stuff.
Since I am new to Mesmer in general I do not know if what I want is feasible, But I was thinking of a Hybrid build of Condi/Phantasm dmg, but I do not know if that would work…

I would say its a toss up between Norn and Charr, because of their size mostly, when I think about a Warrior male or female, I think of this mountain of a person, with a big suit of plate mail, and a giant sword/axe.
But those are just my opinions, because it’s not always the size of the Warrior on the outside, it’s the Fighter within that determines the outcome.

I really wish they would add a, Last Login (Full Date and Time.) and Map Location, something along those lines, because having inactives and people who just don’t login anymore, taking up guild slots, is unfair to those who could have those spots and be part of a guild.

People tend to forget what the class itself is all about, and just see numbers, percentages, ect.
As a Warrior yeah I have good sustain/dmg/survivability ect. But we do get most of our mobility through our weapons, such as the GS and Sword skills, We have a lot of hp because unlike Guardians we can not cleanse or give ourselves buffs like protection on demand, ect. and I have seen some freakishly fast moving Guardians so don’t give me the whole, “We’re slow blah blah” crap because that is bull-kitten… Use a staff, us retreat shout, ect.

Well I’ve had my fair share of people complaining about Champion Farm zergs in Frostgorge, but that is mainly because Jormag’s Lt. is ignored, a simple fix would be to, de-spawn all champs in that map until the World Boss, such as Jormag or Shadow Behemoth, ect. is slain. I mean people need to make money in-game somehow, and if people keep complaining, this will just turn into another Plinx/Pent/Shelt nerf, where ANet modifies the spawn times, or the loot scaling, ect. making it like the before mentioned things, worthless to do.
Besides Dragons just don’t give the loot that feels rewarding enough, I mean take Jormag for instance, your spending 25 to 35 mins, breaking through ice walls, battling conditions, fears, and it minions, just to get some crummy rare with maybe another rare and an opal orb and medallion, lol…
