Normally when a system completely shuts itself down it is due to overheating or power supply issue, as GW2 seems to be more taxing on a CPU than the GPU, im guessing your problem is CPU or Power supply related.

Also do you know which GFX card your system is using, as the Intel® HD-Graphics 4000 is actually built into the CPU itself, so if for some reason its using this card, its putting even more stress on the CPU itself.

But remember ANET paid attention to every post about the LAG in WVW so they thought they would make it better by having 200 golems on a map at the same time.

This was clearly designed to remove extra siege from the market, or they are trying something for the new boardland who knows when it comes to Anet,

I wonder what will happen when someone drops a Siege Disable trap on that enemy zerg now.

If you want to check the login locations yourself, at the top of the page where it says MY ACCOUNT, click on it, then select SECURITY, this should show you the list of IP addresses that have logged into your account,

The very fact that they are saying that your account continues in this activity makes it almost sound like someone is using your account to bounce the gold threw, like a middle man.

The replies from Anet themselves do seem rather unhelpful, there is a Dev that checks these sort of posts maybe they can shed light on the problem for you, as it does look like its a complete failure from the support side, ( which is normally very good )

They are not asking for the event to be brought back, just the cores, anet could easily have added that core drop to the final boss of the Aetherblade path of TA, they are trying to get new players into the game via HoT, then they should be willing to allow them players to get older items via ingame rewards be it fractals/dungeons etc,

I maxed out my MF at 300% along time ago, and when I first did it, the loot change was great, CS farming was rares and T6 all over the place, but that was along time ago now, the loot has been falling and or removed from some events, some events have had ALL loot removed from them, other events have been nerfed etc, to where farming in the open game is not worth the time,

Given that Anet seem to be moving away from loot from enemies and putting into chests rewards ( silverwastes for example ) and MF does not affect this,

I do notice better loot on random days in WvW when going zerg vs zerg, but its hugely RnG based, some days I can be in WvW and get 7 or 8 rares and an exotic + lots of bags in an hour, and other days I don’t get anything,

If my MF was back to 0 today I wouldn’t waste the gold to max it out, its completely not worth it, Anet have opted for the RnG style of play and don’t let anyone tell you any different.

The only thing I will agree on from this topic is that the higher your MF goes you do seem to get more blues and greens vs whites.

If you can log into the GW1 account and know the info for it, I would contact support, they should be-able to manually link the 2 accounts, it seems rather strange that anyone who played GW1 cannot link there account,

When/If they do link them your login info for GW1 will become whatever your login info for GW2 is.

Ive personally thrown in about 25,000-30,000 gold, ive had my fair share of pre’s out that ive sold and thrown the gold back into it, and a few legendary’s that I made and then sold so I could throw it back in,

My last streak was about 3000g without return, so I haven’t played the forge for a few weeks now.

How would it add to wasted space, if they are on the character select screen they would not get the pop up to enter the BL they Queued for therefore they would then miss the pop up and be auto removed from said Queue.

Anet add an auto remove feature than if you are on the character select screen for xx mins then you are auto removed from the Queue,

Fact remains that those of us who play on active servers, have to use a character that maybe setup for WvW only until the Queue pops.

When Q’ing for WvW make them account bound so that you are free to change characters etc while still playing, the Queue will still pop as normal and if you are on the wrong char then you can either hit enter on the char or re-enter the Queue,

For example tonight the Queue for EBG was 105 when I joined it, that means that im forced to play the same char for upwards of an hour just before I get into WvW…….

Im sure many other people have also had the same problem.

It depends on what the guild does and why you wanted to join it,

If I want to join a hardcore WvW or sPvP guild then they will most likely want 100% rep during the raid times/ or when playing sPvP,

I personally have never come across a guild that has stated 100% rep or kick.

Is the start of the 2nd phase not a stun because they technically shot it out of the sky, if you stand back after the first phase you can see the cannons firing at it.

Actually if you can now log into your account from home, at the top of the page under your name is will say My Account, click on it, and then on Security, you should beable to de-select the email settings in there,

I would strongly recommend though if you remove email auth, that you and the phone one instead, at least this way you can log in from anywhere aslong as you have your phone with you.

Apparently the WvW servers Anet play on have zero LAG even when in massive zerg battles, so all the recent topics about the LAG are apparently lies.

I don’t know who thought this was a good idea, but im cant wait for Anets reply on the topic, if we even get one.

You beat me to this post, apparently Anet have no paid attention to ANY TOPIC/POST about the insane LAG in WvW atm, and now they decided to make it that you can have golem zergs, this is beyond stupid.

Furthermore can you imagine if your on a server that struggles against normal players, you are going to get completely destroyed now.

If you run the -repair command it should fix this, I used to get that after a game patch, eventually the game used to auto repair the client back then, but I haven’t seen it do this for awhile.

Im currently on a T1 NA server and personally speaking I find WvW boring on here, I personally find its more about the siege than the fights,

Id prefer good open field battles to siege wars, from what I see pretty much the top 6-9 servers in EU have decent battles, but is there quieter times on these servers which aren’t suited so much for the open field battles?

Far Shiverspeaks has really grabbed my attention from twitch with the open field battles they are doing.

Anyone got any input?

I agree with Red Queen, the fact that its shutting your PC down would lead me more to think power issue, normally a CPU over heating would cause massive lag issues and stuttering before a hard crash, but a PSU failure could cause instant shutdown.

What CPU are you running.

There probably will be a dvd but it will more likely include the original game, giving that they made it free with the HoT expansion, it may or may not have HoT on the DvD also, but as soon as they install it they will have to patch the client anyway.

350Gb is way more than enough to play this game, other than the main downloads I don’t find GW2 to be that heavy on the bandwidth, its more when you start streaming live content, youtube/twitch etc etc that you see that data disappear faster.

Im near sure this has been discussed before, does it not have something to do with the personal story etc etc which is why you cannot have race changes.

Because you don’t get E-Sports from PvE sadly, so the game is balanced around PvP, it took them years in GW1 before they finally separated skills from PvE and PvP, so they could balance 1 game style separate from the other, without affecting the other game mode.

Depending on where you are in the world, and how serious they take home robbery, ( on a potential upside, if the scumbag that stole your laptops, decides to nosey threw them, and tries to log onto GW2, if you have the authenticator in place, it will tell you there exact IP address, I wouldn’t think it be to hard for Police to trace then, providing its not a internet café )

NOTE: incase you didn’t know, the authenticators will block there login to the game even if the password is saved as soon as it tries to log in from an unknown IP address.

Do you know what version of the driver you are running? Have you tried rolling back at all?

Is your SSD plugged into the SATA III port ( 6gbs ) or the SATA II

Your SSD might be working correctly but may not be set up via the bios.

Id be more willing to bet your CPU is struggling more than the GFX card, given that GW2 is CPU intense.

Ive noticed that since the update esp to the higher stacks on some conditions, my system will lag out bad while its trying to work out whats going on, granted I get this more at World Events but still.

The FPS reporting on your video at 1800+ is completely wrong, if you have recently updated a GFX driver I would try and roll it back to an older one that you knew worked, it would also be handy to have a program that can monitor temps in real time while playing GW2 to see if anything is spiking.

I agree, if you can hold off for a few months it would be better, the new skylake CPU’s from Intel ( the 6700 series comes clocked at 4Ghz out of the box, at least at the moment it does ) and GW2 is CPU intensive.

It has long been echo’d on these forums that you are not rewarded for your time played in GW2, sadly if you are not ultra casual, you will be disappointed.

I think the bigger problem is that for nearly 3 years conditions have been so under uses compared to say the zerker meta’s that no one bothered to trait to remove them, or skills to combat them, and now its like WHOA im getting splatted,

They have made theirs minds up, Anet very rarely goes back on decisions, and at this point they almost cannot, as people have already spent money on buying HOT, so they are now firmly stuck between a rock and a hard place with no way out, so sadly they will just go into hiding mode and allow this to continue, and I cannot forsee us ever getting an official response from them,

The fact that its now went mainstream across social media, and still no reply just backs this up all the more,

I can see the BLTC team pulling them out of this one, by giving away a free character slot on the BLTC.

Either way id hate to be on the Anet team right now having to explain to shareholders/parent company why what should have been a great announcement has turned into a complete and utter disaster for them.

At this point in time, I think if they did try and fix it, a lot of people have lost trust in them, and may not even buy the update anyway now, they should have been ready for this and had a back up plan in progress.

Its like they took most of the main builds for all classes, and threw them into the nerf pool ( granted some skills needed changed ) but some are beyond useless now, I wish when they did this sort of thing they would just remove it from the game full stop,

The timing of this update couldn’t be worse, they are nerfing peoples builds into the ground forcing them to play Anets way now, combined with the disaster that is currently going on over in the HOTs topic, its almost like they are going out of there way to cheese the playerbase off, all this at a time when some other big MMO’s are expanding there games also.

Does it add anything to the games log file for when it crashes, that’d probably be the best place to start.

There is no Potential about it, Anet will 100% close the current account if you ask for a refund on it, this has been stated already.

75C isn’t really overheating, many programs that are CPU intense or put a CPU under heavy load can easily push a CPU that hot, my CPU while under load in GW2 will easily hit 70C aslong as the case has good air flow and a decent cooler it shouldn’t affect the game,

This is the NPE all over again, everything for along time has been aimed at New Players, Anet has shown time and time again that long standing players are nothing to them, its not where the money is, they want NEW, Part time players, its the target audience,

From what ive read, if you have Lava Softs Adware program installed it can cause issues, you may have to disable it or allow it to run GW2 as GW2.exe makes a command to a remote server, it might be pulling it as a false positive, and thus blocking it.

Then your expectations are a lot lower than most people, the reward for an hour in fractals is shockingly poor compared to just about any other part of the game, in that same hour you could run 4 or 5 dungeon paths ( more if you had a good SC group ) which would yield 10-15G + drops,

Its that bad that you could actually take the same hour and go harvest nodes, ( Iron, plat, wood ) and still make more gold than the fractal.

In that same hour you could ( im guessing do about 100-150 chests in SW’s, don’t quote me on that as I don’t do the chest farming ) which gives 150 champ bags, T6 crafting, obi shards, etc etc etc

Compared to just about any other part of the game, fractals are the worst content for any form of loot, they are no where near rewarding, which is why the numbers for people running them have declined more and more as each month passes.

This does need nerfed, its clearly not working as intended, the everlasting near instant respawn of targets allowing this farm to occur,

If this was anywhere else in the game where enemies respawned so fast ( thinking of some old CS farming locations ) people who be screaming blue murder on these forums for it to be nerfed, and then the Anet nerf bat would remove all LOOT from the enemies,

So yes, its not working as intended, it should be nerfed just like all other farming locations in the game.

When the game first came out the game was full of loot, but it does seem that zone after zone, anywhere that has enemies that drop decent loot get updated so the enemies no longer drop any loot at all, this has happened pretty much across all high end zones,

This pushes people towards places like SW’s but that gets boring super fast, im not saying loot doesn’t drop as clearly the TP shows that it does, but it does drop far less than it used to,

I used to farm CS with 500% MF and get loot all over the place, 1 year on I get little to nothing, so much so I only log in for 5 mins to do dailies then log out,

I don’t foresee the LOOT issue getting better with HOT.

In the first 1000 days of GW1 this same company released, 2 full expansions, a full add on ( EotN ) we also had Sorrows Furnace, HM, Vanq’ing etc etc

I agree with the OP the game is stagnant, there is little to nothing to do, unless you count grinding SW’s for a few chests, everyone I knew who left this game, has no plans to return to it even when the expansion comes out, as they all just feel it will be the same thing all over again, FotM hasn’t been looked at in forever, dungeons have been ignored forever, drops are non existent, you could go on forever,

Yet will all this we only ever hear the same thing, “when its ready” " when we have something else to tell you" “we cant do that right now” the sad sorry fact is the only thing in this game that gets updated without fail is the Gem Store with items we do not need, and the only people that defend the actions of the developers are people who secretly hope it will get better.

If this continues there wont be many people left to play HOT, as it stands none of my friends will be getting it, and if there not getting it, what motivation do I have to get it, to play alone, come on.

Your example of WoW probably not a good one, WoW did say that they lost 2.9million players this year so far due to lack of content, so they have lost more players than GW2 has playing the game, and they still maintain close to 7million PAYING players, that’s 7 million people paying $15 a month, so much for nothing to do,

I think you would be hard pushed to find people who would pay a monthly fee to play GW2 in its current state, its free to play and people still don’t want to log in, putting all the eggs in the HOT Basket could back fire badly.

WoW dominates the MMO market and have done for years, and will continue to do so, anyone who uses WoW as an example against GW2 is wrong, im willing to bet any company would take 7million paying customers over a game struggling to maintain at this moment id say 1 million on a hard push.

I dunno, i did PvE in GW1 for 7 years, and didn’t get bored, in the 2 1/2 years GW2 has been out and ive spent about 45mins in game in the last month, its so bad that if my dailies take longer than 5 mins to do, i just don’t bother, the game in its current format is in a poor state,

The current format is exactly what Anet wanted, the pushed ultra hard for the this is a casual game and now they have it, i spend less than 10 mins a day playing, you don’t get any more casual than that, and now that NCSoft have announced that another MMO they are the publisher will finally be pushed to NA/EU later this year, if its as big here as it in in the East, that alone could do more damage to Anet,

At this point i don’t see me or any of my friends buying HOT, there really is nothing in it that is getting me/us excited, i do admire Anet for trying to push the boat out and do something different with GW2 but they pushed to far from the original game, why move away from something that was so successful, ive seen more friends playing GW1 recently that GW2, not bad for a 10 year old game.

For the people who are casual and enjoy this game, who claim to be in awesome full guilds im glad for you, but most of us are not, ive seen 3 or 4 full guilds completely disband and all but maybe a dozen players who still play, i personally feel that HOT will not deliver what they expect it too, and the GW franchise will just slowly fade out, ( don’t get me wrong i hope im wrong as ive played the first GW since release and GW2 since beta but im playing more GW than GW2 now and that says it all )

This really depends on what you really expect out of it, if you go in thinking you will 100% get at least 1 pre cursor then you could be disappointed, ive played the forge ALOT, but my last streak left me kinda bored with it, i was up to 3000g and no pre’s back, but i knew the risks, i haven’t played the forge for about 4 months now.

If you can accept that you can put 300G in and get nothing back in return, and enjoy the thrill of the chase that you might strike out, then go for it, if it would bother you at all that you could just throw all 300g away and get nothing, then do not do it.

Im willing to bet that the expansion will hit the shelves before NCSoft release Blade & Soul later this year to the EU/NA market, a lot of people have grown bored of GW2 (yes i know some people reading this think its the best game ever) and are looking for newer games, if those people are looking for another MMO and don’t want WoW , and giving that EU/NA have waited nearly 3 years for it to hit this market, id say it could do damage to GW2, but hey time will tell,

I know that 2 of the massive guilds I was in over the last year have all gone now, they have moved onto newer games or back to older games, and when someone goes and there friends ask the friends tend to follow them.

I personally have started playing GW1 again, and im amazed at how many people are playing it, and the sPvP is still big overthere, kinda amazed that Anet is ignoring that.

Personally if you have got to level 80 and are already bored, its prob best you do what most of us have done and find another game, if you go looking for things to do it will bore you more and or you will find it becoming a grind, if you stay and let it become a grind you will quit completely and never look at the game again.
