Gaile, I just tried to buy gems from the store, the first part ingame works fine, it accepts all the info as normal, it then brings up the proceed to paypal, when you click it, it then loads the paypal website as normal, you enter your password and select payment, hit pay, and the pic attached is what comes up, this is what caught me out months ago, and I ended up being charged twice because I actually thought it was a bug, so far the gems have not shown up ingame, I know from past experiences with this issue they take about 15 mins now to show up,

This kind of does need to be highlighted or someone needs to grill your support site/ paypals support site before you end up having to deal with requests daily for gem fixes.

I can replicate this issue every single time I try to buy gems,

50 is better. It does not have a mistlock instability that makes the run take longer, it has better drop rates. There is no reason to run anything besides 30 40 50 if you have the AR.

Define better drop rates? last time I ran a 49 there wasn’t a single rare drop, and the final bonus chest had nothing in it, its got so bad, that my normal fotm party doesn’t do it anymore at all, its quicker to go cut down some tree’s or an iron run which takes 1/3 the time and can produce more rewards.

- Log on in morning see whos online
- Do some world bosses ( bar the ones who have had terrible loot since day 1, Shatterer, Jorlag etc )
- Head to dry top to do some farming
- Check dailies are complete
- See if any monthlies need finished
- Consider doing a Fractal until I remember the scaling is broken and the loot is terrible
- Log out and play a another game,

Its actually quite funny because ive read on here several times people saying there is loads to do in game, but really is there, we had a big convo on TS the other night about this, once you’ve done world events, ran a few dungeons, the game is kind of stale, I think Anet need to count themselves dam lucky that there really isn’t another massive MMO otw to market, or they’d be hurting, nearly everyone I know has left this game due to it being stale/ not going anywhere.

So for you I would suggest completely uninstalling the old drivers and try installing them again,

There was a topic on the 2nd page here that someone has a problem with memory issues also, it seems to be related to Windows 8.1 so it could be an Nvidia driver issue that is causing a memory leak, ( which technically is unlinked to the game ) if after re-installing it keeps up, maybe try roll back to an older driver and see if it resolves itself,

Hopefully someone else who runs Windows 8 and an Nvidia setup can shed some light on this.

Actually a quick google search shows multiple reports of the 337.88 drivers having a memory leak issue, which would explain the memory problems.

Id like to think the entire Jungle will be open by the end of S2, because lets be honest, Anet can only drag out the no new zones for so long, before people wont come back to see the next update, ive had more friends quit this game in the last 2 months than I have in the last 12.

Dry Top is a step in the right direction, but hopefully sooner we will see zones that do not have the sand storm.

Probably something to do with the patch being pushed out today, if wait and see if it auto corrects after todays patch.

Be sure to come back and let us know what the specs of your new PC are after support cannot help you with your hardware fault, if you really do not wish to believe its hardware related, why not go into your local PC shop and tell them exactly what you told us, and im willing to bet they will say do not use the computer its a hardware fault.

That’s good, but either you told support something different from what you told us here, or there “fix” in the most likely game settings has only slightly changed the stress load on whatever hardware part was failing,

Bios beep codes are there for a reason, they are a warning to let you know something isn’t as it should be, sooner or later whatever is under stress will give up and fail completely.

I wonder is the game creating a crash log before the shut down, to see if that offers any insight,

In there is a text document that records the crash logs, mine is called ArenaNet, see if the game is recording anything, if it does not record anything at the times of the crashes, it seriously looks like it could be hardware, be it HDD, RAM, CPU, I know you checked temps but average temps don’t mean it cant be failing,

If you haven’t, you could try turn down your settings and see if that resolves the issue, or at least slows it down, I know this game is heavy on the CPU, and some high end gaming desktops can struggle with parts of this game, let alone a laptop.

Gaile I totally understand what your saying about the Lag from paypals system to your own and that the account updates when the payment is received on your end,

The problem that is occurring is before that, when you hit pay now on paypal, it used to load a page saying your gems will be with you shortly, now it always displays a page saying an Error as Occurred please contact customer support, this is why when I first seen it and noticed I hadn’t got the gems ingame, I figured PP was having issues, so waited a few mins then tried again ( websites sometimes lag out im sure you know ) but when it did it the 2nd time I got charged twice, and got the gems twice,

What im saying is, this could either turn people away from buying gems, or you could end up dealing with 100’s of customers a day who where charged twice,

The next time I get gems I will screen shot the error and post it for you.

The kick function is fine – if people don’t want to play with you it’s their right to do so.

If you don’t want to lose the time you’ve invested in content then be the instance opener and all your troubles are fixed.

Ideally – play with guildies or people you know.

If people don’t want to play with you its their right, where I 100% agree with you on this, its no ok to USE someone to get threw a high level fractal or do a dungeon, then decide on the final boss you don’t want to play with them no longer, and kick them out, then sell the path/fractal or get a buddy who has just logged on in,

Sadly as broken as it is, I don’t know how they can fix it, clearly when they designed this feature and it was “tested” everyone on the dev team got along, and they just imagined that everyone in game will get along.

If your system is Beeping at you 5 times on shut down, its a hardware error, you should check the motherboard manual for the beep codes, and see what 5 is.

Different Bios use different code setups to identify problems, if its 5 rapid short beeps its leaning towards hardware failure, the fact you cannot turn it on again suggests heat issue too, you should probably read up on the codes before continuing to play the game incase you to perm damage to your system.

That is the only Bios I can find that uses 5 beep codes like you say.

If I had to guess, I would say your GFX card is dying, or is about to die, it looks like bad RAM on the GFX card causing that, espically in the first screen shot.

I know you say its all brand new hardware, but sometimes sadly hardware can come damaged even as new.

I reported this exact problem 3 months ago, the exact same error that you got I got, then it charged me twice, I dread to think how many people this is actually happening too, when you get this error message, the gems you bought will only appear on your account AFTER you log out and back in, its not like before where your account would instantly update,

The only difference between you and me, is that I DID get charged twice, make sure and check your paypal to make sure it hasn’t charged you multiply times.

Im actually stunned that 3 months down the line Anet have not acknowledged this, and or fixed it, talk about a shady way to do business.

They should bin the BLC altogether, and go back to the Eye of the North way, where you buy keys ingame for gold, and open random locked chests in open world.

Visual artists did awesome in that final cinematic.

I think its been pretty much covered now.

I had to actually go google this laptop, from the reviews it seems to be all singing and dancing, could it run GW2 on high settings im don’t know, GW2 is CPU power crazy, and even the most high end dedicated gaming PC Desktops can have issues,

Give the screens native res of 3200×1800, I don’t know how the GFX card/CPU would handle GW2, maybe someone who games on a dedicated laptop can give input here,

The laptop you listed is clearly designed for touch screen and everything that comes with that, im not sure its aimed at gaming.

There is also no dedicated Ethernet port on this laptop, so you will need to be in an area that has great wifi connection available.

Hopefully someone who games on a laptop will give you better input here, Im sure for gaming you could get more power for less money, without all the extra features that, that laptop offers.

Comes down to, Budget and what other games you play,

If you only play GW2 or slower MMO’s the IPS screen will look amazing,

I got the Samsung S27B970D and it runs 2560×1440 and it looks amazing, my 680GTX along with this monitor completely blew up old monitor away, so much so that 2 of my friends went and bought it also lol.

Unless Anet are planning a lot more uses for these time gated items, do we still really need the 1 per day restriction, at least make it 5 a day.

You need to run the -repair command to fix the archive something has got messed up, I usually this bug when an update is rolled out, or when they release hot patches back to back, in a short space of time.

If /when you run the -repair command, if it continues to do it, check your GFX drivers, if it continues again after that, you may want to check temps etc, but hopefully the -repair will fix it.

Oh thank god its a bug, we ran a level 5 earlier for fun and we ended up with Trin and she was handing out the pwnage train like never before, ive ran 49’s where it was easier.

I just ran guild missions with my guild, I haven’t done them for months, so I wasn’t sure if this was actually a bug or not, but after doing the jumping puzzle / rush I didn’t get the bonus chests that give the Guild Commendations or the rewards that come from that chest,

I thought it was just me but a few other guild members are also having this issue, I am repping the guild, I and on the same home server as them, there is no reason not to be getting these, I have not done them for weeks?

Can this be looked into.

Dry Top has been unplayable for me all day yesterday and today, same for my friends, as soon as you zone into it, its instant lag fest, skills take over 30 seconds to respond, its horrible, time of day does not seem to matter either, as soon as I map out of the zone the game runs as normal,

It doesn’t matter which character I take in there, its the same problem, seems that all guild mates are also getting the same issue.

I would check out a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor, some people are sensitive to the eye strain that 60Hz causes in games, which in turn can cause slight headaches to migraines. Plus, 60Hz looks like crap in games anyway, so nice little upgrade unless your vid card is a budget card.

Really as my Samsung runs at 2560×1440 @ 60Hz and this is the sharpest image ive seen, unless you are planning to go into 3D gaming or really heavy FPS I doubt the OP will see much of a difference between 60 and 120,

There are any number of things that could be causing that motion sickness, your monitor may just need configured properly.

I was going to say 6.8ghz on Air, what was pushing the Air? a Jet Engine lol, highly doubt the OP is going to go full phase change cooling.

Why are you upgrading is it only for GW or in general

I kicked 1 of my friends from the guild about a month ago because of this, went to join them and ended up kicking from guild, if you have an overly sensitive mouse, these options are dangerously close lol.

The Razer game booster is known to use the EasyHook32.dll file that is causing the crash on your game, from what I seen online people recommend installing it and see if the problem continues.

A friend of mine had that same CPU cooler and it ended up sounding like a jet engine, after getting rid of it and installing a normal CPU cooler with fan, its near silent now, I personally don’t think them coolers are good for any sort of gaming system, as that radiator is pulling warm air from the system to cool the CPU….. closed loop water coolers are not always the best.

I installed GW2 on a dedicated SSD when GW2 was launched and the load times back then was night and day, now after several “tweaks” to the game engine, I notice load times are a little slower than before, still faster than a normal 7200rpm HDD though, if you do install windows onto an SSD it will eat a normal HDD alive in load times.

Anyway, the FGS is currently part of the meta, as every team that enters that comp set up by DnT can use it and has access to it, I would say it was fair play, if a team decides to use/not use it, its completely up to them,

If your complaining about the FGS, I noticed you didn’t complain about the seriously OP Icey Bow used to destroy the burrows in AC in 3 seconds, is that a bug or intended.

Way I see it, if something can be used by everyone/all teams then its fair game, ( and nope I don’t run ele, I don’t speed clear dungeons/fractals)

From your pic in the first post, it actually looks like it maybe bad ram on your GFX card, which would explain why its getting worse.

When you download the files directly, it downloads the entire game, the CD key is what unlocks certain parts, be it Collectors, normal, Heroic etc, so if your CD key is Heroic, then you will unlock the items linked to that CD Key,

As for install folder, the entire game will download to 1 file, is will be approx 17-20gb you can move the GW2 file to any harddrive and it will play,

When installing, you should beable to change the directly path manually, by highlighting the C: and changing to D,E,F etc depending on your setup.

You will need to attach the entire crash log for anyone to beable to help.

Gift of exploration is for legendaries. Legendaries take months to make. I can almost guarantee that your server will either cap the areas you can’t access your first round mapping at some point, or it will change colors over those months. Either of those gives you access.

If this was true at that Legendaries take months to make, then why can I buy one from the trading post in less than 30 seconds?

Also im not disputing that a dedicated WvW player could get all of WvW mapped in under a week, maybe 2 depending on the matchup/ how strong that server is, but sadly 98% of this game are not WvW dedicated and they full under the causal players this game is aimed at, and under the current setup, the map completion does not work.

Fact is, a WvW only player will not care that the PvE player doesn’t have to map WvW, and a PvE only player will not care that the WvW player doesn’t have to map PvE for the same result, so time is a mute point.

Doesn’t work for WvW, the current setup goes completely against anets idea of causal player, as if your not on in a set timezone you may never get that map completion.

Where I agree that the time taken is unfair towards the PvE player, I can bet it can take just as long waiting for that certain PoI to open up in WvW depending on the server, it would also take longer to gather certain mats in WvW than if your say a Cursed Shore farmer, in the long run it would balance out.

I read a post recently about someone talking about having to complete the map and only needing 3 points in WvW that they could not get because of the server they where on etc, and where that is 1 person im sure there are many many others who detest having to map WvW to get the gift of exploration for making a legendary,

So why not split the WvW / PvE map completion for the Gift of Exploration, if you complete the PvE world and never go into WvW you get 1 Gift as a reward, if you complete the WvW maps you get 1 Gift, so if you complete both you get the normal 2 gifts,

I know WvW only players who do not want to map PvE and I know PvE players who do not want to map WvW, this seems like a fair balance, maybe?

Just remove WvW from map completion there is already to much PvE in WvW, it never should have been part of the 100% mapping anyway.

FGS is absolutely required in the current speedrun meta. It kills things twice as fast. It’s not intended but not severe enough for the developers to prioritize it on top of the bug fix list apparently.

If by fixed you mean, destroyed completely and nerfed 500% into the ground so badly it wont even be on a skill bar no more then yes it will be fixed.

Remember the fire ele’s that you could spam then anet “patched it for lag reasons UH HUH” that it can only be spawned once per 30 mins now, yet can die in 5 seconds in some fights, and now you don’t see them about.

Thaooo is 100% correct, this restriction was only put into place on GW2, im guessing because they wanted $$ from server transfers even though they left them free for along time,

At the OP, sadly for now there is no way for you to play with any friends who are on an NA server if you are on an EU server, you NA friends can transfer to EU and EU can transfer to NA, but until the silly restriction is lifted in game its the only way it can be done.

I have to agree with Abomally here, I have to call into question your specs on your system, the cards you mentioned are way below the min specs even needed for this game, putting your 20-30fps further into question to be honest,

Also if you are truly on an AGP card your also running way older CPU interface, which is also likely to fall way below the mins needed for this game,

If what you say it true, then only support can help you, as the specs you have mentioned are not even close to the mins needed, sorry.

Im not exactly sure what you mean here,

Are you actually in the game and you cant see anyone, or is the game failing to start,

When you first create your character you are put into the first personal story instance, so you will not see any other players until you do that first part, then it will load the first city/zone that you start in, after that you should start to see newer/other players in the game.

Did they not say along time ago they would be a lot more transparent and stop the stealth updates and that changes would always be in patch notes, yet nearly every patch someone finds a stealth update that a dev then comes on and says Oh yea sorry that was missed for xx reason,

Do they not have a list of changes into the game, and a list of patch notes, surely if there are 20 changes at 18 patch notes something is wrong.

Personally instead of them nerfing current dungeons ( which people run for fun/loot giving the lack of it elsewhere in the game, even after the dungeon boss loot nerf ) I would rather they took the time to make new dungeons.

Its not OP, how else do you plan to pull them players away from the Ac’s right at the very back of the wall that are raining death down on the players below,

Mesmers have already been nerfed and nerfed again lets not add to that.

I personally feel its OP than an ele can be downed then MF threw the portal to safety.
