indeed, BV + lyssa, is a good utlity combination, for escaping and for assaulting enemies,

with itching curiosity, i did a little research (with the help of my friend google) about the word “stealth” and its etymology
the word stealth was originally used to define “as the act of thievery/stealing others’ priced possession”, in 13th century
so in that regard, stealth + thief + steal is in perfect harmony
This new change adding 1s to revealed has really annoyed and ruined my rotation then made my thief unplayable.
My thiefs only last hope, trying to find a new build where I have almost endless dodge.
endless dodge is somewhat attainable, if you will invest in certain traitlines and add a signet that will return your full endurance
specially if you will gear towards condi damage and utilize superior rune of the adventurer

just to answer if there is an mmo that makes thief stealth, one of the old games, ragnarok online
when ever i think of stances, i only think of one game
maybe the op wants this to be implemented in gw2 as well (i really like it also to be implemented)
in this pic/game the sniper using a bayonet and has 4 stances, each stances has 5 abilities
first stance is a standing shot where blinding and knockbacks are the main
second stance kneeling shot wherein you cannot move, but has a precised strikes
third is defensive bayonet wherein most skills are melee range
last is assassin stance wherein you lie on the floor using stealth tactics so you cannot be easily targeted
im not really a fan of glowing things,
can they make a simple yet sophisticated weapon skins,
(its like they are making us to have a skritt like mentality “ohhh shinnies”)
but did you look at what we gained with the hidden nerf every attack is a bleed effect now

i think/conclude/hypothesize: that laika hates other thieves because they dont play like “how laika wants them to play”

uhm lets not deviate the discussion about “what if’s”
i have another idea to top of my what if we dont have stealth,
what if all our dual skills ignore block, like what they did to the first hit of flanking strike
i would rather not as well,
im trying to learn d/p as well, and its #3 skill is useful in chasing down enemies to move and hit in a melee range
Still have just TA armour, but is pretty enough. Hope it doesn’t matter. :x Am gonna go for T3 once I get my shiny shiny rainbow shortbow.

if im a programmer and works for anet,
thieves would go this way,
i would remove stealth ability on weapon skills, but in return all skills would require positional requirements,
eg, backstab will always land a powerful damage at the back only without stealth damage is reduced to 50% when a thief hits the enemy at the front
damage is reduced to 25% when a thief hit the sides
pistol skills will have more damage when facing directly facing the opponent eye to eye, less damage when facing the back
sword will always daze for .25 secs when hitting the sides only of the opponent
shortbow every fifth #1 will immobilize opponent
since no more stealth skills we be available in any weapon sets, a little tweak will be introduced to Shadow Arts Tree
grand master tree :
X:thieves initiative: gain initiative when you dodge
XI: (insert name) when a thief stands for more than 5 seconds without moving he will gain stealth and breaks stealth when he moves (like the ash legion spy kit)
XII: thieves paradise : when two or more thieves are running together (radius 360)they gain regeneration
and other tweak to traits that utilize stealth
In short: our access to indemand stealth will be only from utility skills.

i just thought of something,
what if we implement block like one of the single player games, you can only block where your shield is facing the oponent,
so that we can also implement that if you block/miss/evade backstab regardless of stealth, the thief cannot do backstab anymore.

Nope. The window for stealth is too small. Backstab requires positioning and stealth to accomplish. Backstab is “spammable” for 3 (or 4, 15 SA traited) seconds, then requires initiative (6) for CnD or a utility skill to get back into stealth, then positioning again to land the backstab. I seriously doubt you’re showing us your backside and standing still so we can land the next backstab.
Plus ANet is already changing the Stealth/Revealed mechanic… in what appears to be a nerf.
So yeah, sit back and wait before asking for more thief nerfs please.

1% extra damage per boon vs protection (33% Damage reduction after all damage is calculated.)
we are not yet sure about boon hate mechanics, but at least boons have a counter when it is implemented

So, I happened to stop by the GW2 State of the Game stream just in time for their discussion on thieves. Apparently, ANET plans to change stealth so that it applies the revealed buff, regardless if you hit something or not.

Good change, also prevents thieves from having infinite stealth inside forts and castles and running around untouchable for 45 min.
100% wrong. The D/P “Perma” stealth build is not affected by this change since they never have to leave stealth. Only the patient CnD using thieves are hit by this
yes, indeed, also i saw a post somewhere that a combination of blinding powder + cluster bomb used hijack towers and keeps, two thieves were at play in this scenario and they are in perma stealth,
seldom thieves use s/d as a boon removal, its unreliable
but for the upcomming changes i will gladly welcome boon hate,

stealth on other games is better that gw2,
eg ragnarok, where you can stealth and attack and NEVER be revealed unless theres a hunter to use detection skill
eg wow, only flares and other stuff will be the only utilities to make stealth seen

just in comparison to other games, perma stealth is permanent because theres a dedicated class to make them revealed
gw2 stealth is limited because theres no dedicated class to reveal them
i remember that the devs cant adjust something drastic in PvE because it will affect WvWvW
maybe a split skill would suffice to balance things out?

For my Mesmer to reset, I have to blow some cooldowns. Often two against fast opponents (most anyone not a mesmer, lol).
Elementalist ride the lightning, blink, mist form. 20+ cooldowns.
Warrior is a different animal, i’ll give you that I can make a warrior pretty darn hard to stop … unless people are spamming cripple/chill/immobilize on him.
Thief simply stealths and is done. Thanks to Shadow Arts, Thief stealths and now they are removing conditions, gained might, healing, and maybe moving +50% speed.
The Warrior and Elementalist have speed but no stealth.
The Mesmer has stealth but no speed.
The Thief has both stealth and speed.
i would like to comment on this one
warriors have speed and STABILITY but no stealth
elementalist have speed and invulnerability (mist form and ride the lightning)
thief has stealth and speed but no access to reliable stability for running purposes
nevertheless, if people claim that thieves has a lot of survivability and such, mobility and such, why do people discriminate thieves in dungeon also?
it has a seemingly disconnect between two occassions, and in both instances thieves are unwanted
we suck at PVE,
and they dont want us in their group most of the time (they hate us in their group)
we excel at world vs world,
and they want to nerf our damage and such (they still hate us in WvWvW)
now, if we are nerfed on two occassions, what will be left from us?
(no matter what occassion whether PvE or PvP or WvWvW they still hate us)
I have a watch that cost £1600 and a watch that cost £150, both of them keep excellent time. Is one better than the other? Only in my mind. To someone who is not into watches, one of them is a neccesity, the other is a pointless piece of self-indulgence.
Now, would you buy the £1600 one if they weren’t equal except for the price, but the cheaper one was actually a better watch? Because that’s what we have now.
for the sake of luxury, i will still buy the 1600 watch even if it does not function well, like a vintage watch that does not tell time,
that is what t3 armors are for a bling bling to show off how expensive your character is.

I tried to make build that would cover these problems but yeah, I am forced to change my build none stop to be effective, I personally hate roaming with a bunker build in small roaming groups due to fact we have little damage output, I do tend to run the 0/30/30/5/5 for both Zerging/roaming i carry 3 sets of armor that I can get to work effective under them traits.
x-30-30-x-x build is good enough for multiple type of armors and builds,
eg.
1 set for glass cannon
1 set for condition trapper
its sooooo painful to see that mesmer standing and casting stuff,
i think most players are used to old mmo, maybe they think that they cant run or dodge while in combat, (maybe because of faulty introduction/or no tutorials in the beginning of the character creation)
nevertheless, “internet english” so to speak is evolving, as long as they understood what you meant its okay,
also, just to take note of english parameters/syntax/grammar,
more often than not, they dont know the difference between “than” to “then” and they use it interchangeably,
also simple past present and future form of the verb is misplaced everywhere,
like play = played
say = said (most of them use sayed)
pay = paid (again most of the use payed)
although i heard and read somewhere that english rules are not use in some countries like japan,
because most of the playerbase are not english native speakers
or do not know how to use plural forms of nouns
like the plural of knife = knives
half = halves
thief = thieves

but in reality,the stats of t3 isnt that good even if the did make it exotic,
eg. t3 human medium, rampagers set, (i would not use that stats even if they will turn into exotic quality)
likewise you can use the reasoning for legendary weapons, only a few will use p/v/t stat, and will transmute it into something else
