After watching some talk with devs in youtube I got thinking about boon hate.
The idea seems to give some professions the option (traits?) to deal more dmg against targets with boons.
It sounds interesting to deal with boon-spamming bunkers (ele/guard) but I’m not sure how this would effect the group-play of such classes…
Would a flat dmg increase against buffed opponents make buffing class undesirable in groups?Would it be better to have more options of boon removal/corruption/stealing?
Thiefs can steal 2 boons with their steal (when traited). What if they could remove 1-2 boons with venon applications (making venons more useful against bunkers) or change up to 5 boons into conditions on trap activation?
Necro has some nice boon removal/corruption. But seems the well pulses cant compete with some classes ability to just stack boons… Maybe increase the ammount of boons that are removed/corrupted by each pulse? The main question is:
– Is more dmg to opponents with boons a better idea than more boom stripping/stealing/corruption?
as for your thief example, stripping boons cant just catch up how guardians or eles apply boons,
steal boons on a traited steal with 36s CD is not efficient, because on a 36 sec CD, eles or guardians already re-applied the same boons over and over again
same as eles, if i removed thier regen buff, they can always apply it in just a matter of seconds after i remove thier boons
i also share the same sentiments when most of the time my pet dies,
how i wish there is a class that can use both bows without the pet,
give warriors shortbow, or give thieves longbow, and ill be delightful to switch immediately
so everyone who intends to buy the new quiver that Rox’s wear gather some gems now before a huge gem rates conversion flood the market
i loveeeeee this idea
i support this
PvE is greatly tied with WvWvW, so its kind of impossible to remove it
i really want an item in the gemshop that will allow my runes to be removed in an item,
since i really want to remove my runes of divinity in my t3 set so i can slot another rune in my t3 set
for me BV is the best for my build, just because i use lyssa runes ^^
yep pretty much p/d build is used to troll pet using classes,
they dont care about conditions or your damage because they can heal up and regain initiative in an almost unlimited manner because of 30 Points in SA,
P/D can be countered but be very cautious,
tip: dont fight p/d in a field full of npc and critters,
you can kill them if you are alone most of the time (by alone means no critters and npc and allies)
plan your timing for condition removals, because if you blow them all up every time you see bleed in your status bar you will lose, because p/d doesnot care if you clean them, they can reapply it indefinitely,
melandru + lemongrass helps
i personally use melandru, because i dont have a reliable condition removal,
and its awesome in a sense that all conditions are somewhat manageable
if you want to sell and salvage karma items with melandru, you need to transmute it first to an armor with salvageable property like the crafted one
if any utility skill can be used in slot 10
ill be happy to utilize lyssa runes
ill use the lowest CD and insta cast
lyssa runes because only a thief can utilize its full potential using withdraw on heal + basilisk venom, due to its low CD
So drive up the prices and make ppl who dont use real money grind much more? yea that plan makes so much sense.
And wheres proof of this intention? I dont mean the gem store prices are high I think they are super- but gold to gem rate is.. just I mean 4g wont even get me 140gems.
I imagine you use your money – Arena net only caters to those ppl any more though. The ability of the Gem exchange rate to adapt to in-game inflation is an incredibly elegant system.
1. People who don’t like to spend real life money:
Benefits them, because you can use in-game gold to purchase things in the Gem Store. All other games with microtransactions off the top of my head does not have this ability.2. People who want to convert real-life money to in-game gold
Because it adjusts to in-game inflation, the gems you buy today will be worth the same a year from now, when adjusted for inflation. When the game first came out, 100 gems got you like 20s. If that rate was flat, no one in their right minds would convert Gems to Gold. But because it adjusts to inflation, it keeps people who like to convert money into gold happy.3. Anet
By allowing it to adjust for inflation, Anet encourages the activity of people #2 over #1, which is important since #2 spends real-money, and #1 doesn’t. If the Gem exchange rate stayed flat, no one in their right mind would purchase gems today, since Gold is so easy to get.The Gem Exchange Rate which adjusts for in-game inflation is an elegant compromise of the 3 parties above. You’re looking at it from just #1’s perspective.
Yea I am, bc that’s the only perspective I can view it on since I dont use real money.
Great for all the real money users- I get that they are the ones bascially driving the market up and up at their leisure and Anet is happy about that.
The only activity I see for #1 is grinding.. now wasn’t Gw2 not supposed to be about that? Oh wait, it is just another MMO. Who am I kidding.Think about it like this, you can either grind 4-5 hours for that 20g. Or work for 1 hour and convert $10,- into that 20g.
But yeah, the gem system is in favor of real money spenders. Which is not weird at all, considering that that’s how they get an income and can pay the developers to make new content.
^ true,
therefore, get a job and earn than just sitting the whole day farming gold ^^ (imo its better)
or wash your neighbors car for 20 bucks, instead of them to go to a carwashing service for 40$
massage your mom or dad for 20 bucks, instead of them going to spa for 50-60$
clean the house for 30 bucks, instead of them to hire cleaning services for 100$
mow the loan/backyard for 20$, rather than paying the loan mower service for 70$
etc etc
theres so much things to do outside to finance your gaming needs

where can i find this, i was intently observing for the past week if this item will be filled in TP, but no one is still posting the said item, not even a single posting have been filled
about how skills are generally coded in this game,
the effect of the traits/skills only applies at the end of the animation, so in this regard you will roll first before it will actually debuff any kind of impairment,
about hard to catch and other related traits that has a real skill counter part, the quality of the traits are lesser than the actual skill itself
eg. caltrops skill vs uncatchable trait
shadow step vs hard to catch
etc etc
about the KD im not really sure about that one
my piece of advice: try glass cannon first to get the hang of it, since even if we incorporate tons and tons of toughness and vitality, thieves will always die in an instant you lose your rythm
try it in spvp first using 25-30-0-0-15 if you cant survive enough
next step is balance build 10-30-30-0-0 and 0-30-30-10-0
if survivability is not sill attained use 0-20-30-20-0
then 0-10-30-30-0 full bunk
advanced build 10-30-0-0-30
hmmm its rather difficult to create a bunker type thief if your mindset will be of a elementalist or a guardian
we can build a pseudo-bunker thief, but it will not perform like ele or guardian,
i found that the most bunkerish build you can really achieve is 0-10-30-30-0 since it invests on boon duration + toughness+ vitality and healing power,
there is also a balance build 10-30-30-0-0 and 0-30-30-10-0
(you are really inclined in using the 3 class that has the lowest hp pool ^^)

id like to have greatsword on my thief heheehehhe
and dual sword
to make me like anime-ish duelist with style
currently these rates are in favor to the casuals who work 8-12 hours a day with a limited play time,
its convinient for us to purchase gems and exchange it to gold,
just wait for us to buy and exchange gems to gold, and all will be back to normal,
this scenario always happens when a “new Desirable item is on sale”
(its always easier to do overtime and get overtime pay, then buy gems to gold than to spend hours and hours of game time to get a miniscule amount of gold)
eg. you can farm 10gold per hour (i did read in these forum-topics that you can do that)
but we can do overtime work and earn 32$/hour which equates to roughly 57 gold in this current exchange rate
(edited by Oldgrimm.8521)
i like the idea to make it a “true skin” like HOM rewards,
but then again as stated above, anet will lose gem purchase
the dev should make up their minds,
i agree with the op, that having two separate timers will of set the “mindset of the player”
i suggest to add one more (or two) second to swiftness on this trait since they are planning to make thieves more mobile
it will be powerfull to some class that has “gain all boons”
guardians will become undefeatable,
and some class that has an ability to gain random boons will have a lucky boon to have this become powerfull to some extent
i tried to transmute my t3 sylvari to a white item and give it to my human, it does not work now,
because even if it states that it is white and account bound, the “Sylvari race” only tab is still there
yep its 10-30-30-0-0, it was stated in his previous post that this is his build
it would be a good alternative to gain ascended for altoholic like me, hehehheehhe
i would be willing to pay for ascended items
change SW to
shadow step your opponent to your place,
a reverse shadow step skill
i think it is cool
10 $ each = 800 gems for each ascended accessory
i would grab this, since its easier to do 8 hours Real life job and earn more,
than farm for 8 hours and not even getting one desired jewelry
smokescreen + dagger storm, is a good defensive approach also
indeed, a color rotation is needed regardless of ranking,
im at 99% also with 1 poi inside the opponents garrison
what are the particular reasons you disengage a fight?
(since we are good at fleeing)
1. for my personal experience when i land 4k crit BS below i disengage, since they are fully defensive
2. when i have plenty confusion stacks
3. too much zerg ^^
uhm what i see in this discussion,
mirta is a p/p spec who does not rely heavily on stealth, since his sneek attack will be activated using long cooldown utilities
any spec using heavy stealth using weapon skills is heavily affected since their muscle memory of doing things is ruined.
any skills using mechanical functioning like hand and eye coordination, a little off balance is HUGELY noticeable,
eg, in musical score if you mess up with the metronome you are screwed, and screwing the whole orchestra, since an adept maestro and listener will definitely notice it
oh my oh my, no words can express his outrage against thieves,
i think thats what we do, thats what thieves are all about after all,
to victimize, to oppress, and to kill,
i want to suggest make it 10% instead of 9%
since one handed equips does have 5%, and have the advantage of having 2 sigils given that you equip two one hand items
my idea:
blind all nearby enemies 600 radius + gain 50% endurance
eternity should have a yin and yang feeling since its a combination of sunrise and twighlight
maybe like this: but the devs can be more creative
engineers are packed with fun and diversity, you can enjoy their playstyle
but if your goal is only to kill in wvwvw then thief will fit the tab (given that you practice)
even if t3 human were to become exotics, will you use the rampagers stats of it?
satirical it may seem,
but in this forum exaggeration is the key for a suggestion to be noticed,
(like how other classes clamour for thief nerfs, they exaggerate and they conquer)
so its our turn to exaggerate to be buffed
remake COF like what you did to AC ahahahhaha
and COF will be deserted as hell
my idea is like what they did to Detha’s path to make it hard
every player shoul pick up crystals to damage the boss, like in jade maw,
(edited by Oldgrimm.8521)
this is the down side of the improved aggro table of npc towards thieves,
whenever the thief stealths the pet locks on the thief and stops attacking until revealed, even when there are alot of enemies nearby,
it seems like pets are forgetting that there are other enemies nearby to attack
as a thief player, mesmers are difficult because they have different builds in WvWvW, and it takes time to pin point what that mesmers build is
and usually our build is just to counter one build of a mesmers build, (we cant change build during the fight of course)
so in a fight if we are fighting a mesmer with no condition removal build, but if we are running a non-condi build we are screwed, and so on.
unlike other classes in which they are built in the same fashion like eles, we can deduce that they all run the same bunker build, likewise to guardians that it is either or dps or bunker, etc etc
tl:dr
mesmers builds has a wide range of builds that makes them hard to defeat, because our build is not one size fits all.
necro elite,
Life exchange: cooldown 180
exchange your remaining hp pool percentage to your opponent
eg. warrior has full hp of 30k, and he bashed you and you have 200/2000k hp left which is 1% left, after using this skill
the warrior has 300/30000k and yours will be full
since some thieves dont want the damage to be lessened
i want to ask if you can move it to 30 point trait line
so that thieves will be forced to go full DA trait line
because the nature of this trait is that you can make/create any builds that include MUG
eg 10-x-x-x-x
too good to be included in a 10 point trait line
i would rather put that trait in a 30 point slot,
so thieves will be forced to go full DA tree
i also have an idea if we have cooldowns
but mine is a little brutal
3 secs cool down to all weapon skills except auto attacks
but we will have an added unique mechanic: NO CD on weapon swap
im really thinking of multitude of combos from switching back and forth weapon sets
(mind you, we cannot abuse on weapon swap sigils because sigils have ICD)
Faux King ^^
