yup i agree in hotjoin spvp, thieves are always lurking in massive proportions,
maybe they are fedup of being instagibbed by a thief,
as the saying goes, “if you cant beat them, join them”
@calavera, where did you find the human t3 looking drop? and what is the name? been looking for ages for an alternative way of getting a t3 human pistol
can i suggest an ingame agricultural area so that we can plant our mats for cooking,
like farmville in FBgames
and for this one, i can think of events like protect your field from infestation, from bandits, and many more
We have "Dodging" for evasion, can we add 'Tumbling' for recovery?

i will also add the skill of thief shadowstep, you can get out of knocked down status by using it to teleport and you will stand at your own feet,
i agree with this one, i always tend to jump when an incoming treamor animation occurs, maybe its an instinctual response from me having playing console games
make jumping an actual evasive skill from ground attacks

try it, it will recover you from knocked down, thats what i use in PvE, or try in in the mist, using the dodging golem

in pvp its bad..
because but would it defeat the knocking purpose of the hammer build players.
in PVE its good because i hate enemies knocking me off…
as far as my 2 main characters are concerned (thief and ranger) roll for initiative can get away from being knocked down and the same goes for lightning reflex skill of the ranger
ive experienced this so called elitism, specially when Anet added the Karma rewards in dungeons
why not introduce a WvWvW
a five way war between 5 races
all the three mentors are awesome……..
’till treahern killed the story
is it a bug or a glitch?
if it is not, thats freaking awesome, i might try it as well in wvwvw hehehe
its not about auto-attacking,
what i am pointing out is that, Anet’s Work-around in fixing problems is to change the tooltip description instead of fixing what the skill will actually do.
as far as design and laziness is present…
like what happened to CoF medium Coat and shoulder,
im having a bad feeling that they will just change the tool-tip description of sword #1
just like :
“it will root you to your position while slashing and damaging your foe”
thanks for giving me an idea, but im not ready yet for a cond-type thief, ill practice and save that build later on.
oh, so that means in a power crit specced thief, i cant possibly reach 21k hp, >.<
how to reach 21k hp in PVE?
what are your gears, thanks
thanks for all the output
im still 73
but im theory crafting my stats,
it seems that to be able to reach 100 crit damage, we have less crit chances as far as i can comprehend on your given base stat
i tried to use the computations given, and i dont know if it is a good combination
e.g. thebase stat that i came up with, 80 crit damage, 50 crit chance
because NPC thief in the mist has infinite initiative spamming ability >.< i hope the thief has an elite that for 4 secs initiative will be unlimited
what is the PVE counter part of this one, been looking for ages, and i cant fiind the skin… thanks for the help guys
make rapid fire =homing arrows, that cannot be dodged or blocked hehehe
thanks blood for giving me precise answer,
so going valkyrie will sacrifice alot of precision,
i think 30-50% on crit is justifiable, since shortbows attack and utility is far superior than pistols utility at the moment
cluster bomb is deadlier than unload
Another round of nerfs for retaliation but Thief still hitting too hard
in Thief

i think the most common death by other classes is MISINFORMED stat Distribution on their characters,
in all seriousness, stack up on toughness and vitality, i know you can produce more than that,
you have too much attack going on, remember guardians have block + retaliation + burn, thats your main source of power
but guys in your stats as of now, what is your current crit damage %?
make it at least 30-50% chance to bounce on critical hit
on its current state, Dancing daggers is far superior in damage and utility,
so if pistols would have this revamped trait, pistol build will shine on its own
(or better yet make it perma bounce: this one is selfish mode hehe)

i dont know if it is working, but i use it always, and for some reason when we are running AC, specifically at Lt. Kholer i rarely die in his spinning attack even if i dont dodge
but it is combined with Bark skin + natures protection
in building your thief, what is the MINIMUM desirable crit damage?
obviously i dont want to have a glass-cannon thief.
im open to mixing and matching different types of armors
warrior rifle bleeds on auto
ranger short bow bleeds on flanking
engineer pistol bleeds on auto
i think the logical thing thats why we dont have piercing pistol trait is just because we have sneak attack.
does engineer’s pistol pierce?
does it give 100% chance already?
as far as i remember during beta, the tooltip indicates 30% chance to recharge one type.
thanks for the info
just in case that signet of the hunt will be fixed
i think that if rapid fire will change into a single hit attack 150% increase will be more beneficial
i dont use any type of bow,
i carry axe/torch, sword/warhorn
full condition build + traps
and it felt like im producing more DPS in in this setup
specially when battling a mob, bouncing fire axes
can they change rapid fire into a single attack, and not a channeling attack,
so we can use traited signet of the hunt better.
Right now I think there is a way to force stealthed players out of stealth, but it requires AoE boon removal abilities. Only mesmers and necromancers have those from what I know.
as i have read the necro thread, their AoE does not detect stealth, and they were asking if they can detect stealth as well, maybe an addition to their skill might be a good idea,
an engineer will be ok also,
the point is just give one profession the ability to detect stealth
it will be useful, to minimize the effect of hidden attack s like backstab or other skills,
(if you will dig my post history, i play ranger and thief,)
make at least one out of the 6 remaining job to be able to detect stealth…
(excluding the thief/mesmer of course)
i can vouch for elementalist to have it.
i will call it the seeing mind, use of arcane power to detect stealth,
duration 3 secs,
cooldown 45 seconds..
range 900
in this proposition only elementalist can see the hidden thief when the skill is active.
- of course the thiefs here will bash this suggestion,
as a necromancers say, every 100 condition = 5 damage per tick.. 1400 is around 115. i tried to use superior rune of corruption, and it gives me a total of 1650 condition damae = 130+ bleed per tick,
going over is not a waste,
and if you will browse necro threads, they can reach 2100+ condition damage because of their trait line
actually when i heard the rampage as one elite, i thought the ranger and his/her pet will fuse to deal a massive damage, nevertheless, i like your idea.
how about the generic order of whispers headgear?
add a trait in the beastmastery that will enable shout utilities to detect hidden enemies
i just remember the game i played long long time ago, Ragnarok, wherein rangers there use their falcon to detect hidden enemies
im trying to gear up for wvwvw, im level 75 atm,
im currently choosing between these armors,
valkyrie
knights
or the karma(vit/pow/tough)
(edited by Oldgrimm.8521)
is it worth it to invest toughness?
have you ever tried giving the assassin hood to your engineer or ranger, thats the same process,
if you look at different screen shots of different ranger threads, they are wearing assassins hood
this is just to site how transmutation works.
just in case, may i ask you, you dont want to create another toon and do quest of another order? you just need to make it until level 40+ quest to access their armory, its not that tedious
you can transmute it using the normal npcs armory “white items” just dont wear it,
when im off at work ill let you see a vigil orderd character wearing a mix of vigil and order of whispers armors
what i did to access all the orders armory, i made 3 characters and made all the quest with each order, then i transmuted it and gave it to my other characters’ opposing order,
today, i noticed, its not the backstab issue anymore,
the community whines about the existence of thieves
i shun away from overpowered backstab, and tried the underwhelming p/p build,
and guess what, they still clamour that thief is OP, sigh so sad, just so sad
@genea
looking sharp and a fine gentlemen
so refreshing, rather than making an AC themed thief
thanks, im just trying to figure out how did that thief reach 21k hp with all orbs at wvwvw, im trying to calculate, he or she must have at least 18k+ base hp
