I do am surprised there’s a lack of unique charr dialogue (my char seems rather blaze about the whole god thing – yeah charrs are nonbelievers but they’d still be surprised to see them in Tyria).
Also i find it hilarious that there are many charr mercenaries working under Balthy.
Wait, I don’t remember her in Ember Bay unless that was meant to be a joke. :P
Also she still has an army, her pirates are raiding the Edge of the Mists. Then again the Mist fighters are probably doing a number on them.
She was defeated but escaped iirc. Horik is dead though.
I actually like HMS Divinity
The tube near the Mariner WP only goes to the south, but most of the action happens at the eastern area of the Savage area.
It does make me wonder though…
Are Soulkeeper and the rest of the crashed Pact gang stuck in Bloodstone Fen?
Which is strange, because the previous chapter had a tiny race specific dialog (if you are a Charr). Logan says he’s still weirded out seeing charr in the throne room, but if it’s gonna be one, he likes it that it’s you (the PC).
My only problem really is the WP. It honestly just needs one more, particularly in the Savage area.
They should have at least give you one Orchid 100% of the time. It’ so annoying when nothing pops out.
Aren’t her band of pirates still hanging around in the Edge of the Mists? Are they permanently trapped there could they do a raid again? Because somehow it feels like she’s the only loose end still dangling.
It looks too cake-y for me.
Unlike some people though I actually like the gunboat.
Lazarus is actually your future self who time traveled but got sealed.
What if Lazarus is a quaggan?
So it’s time to SELL SELL SELL like in the stock market?
I still think saving a wardrobe loadout should be implement. I want this design for my character but want to move on, yet want to keep a reference for that loadout before changing for future preference.
wait, so the asura thing is possible?!
Clearly Lazarus is actually an asura piloting an armor.
Thief has a shortbow? I thought it only was Infiltrator’s Arrow. :P
You can complete all three Orrian maps without anyone doing any of the metas.
I’m fairly certain that cursed shore has 1 HP that still requires you to complete the grenth temple to commune there. I’ve tried on several characters and was just unable to fully channel that HP before the stupid environmental effects from that statue hit me, interrupting the channel.
iirc Grenth statue doesn’t interrupt your channel since it’s just passive damage
Not the one in the temple but the one outside in the middle of the island certainly does. We tried everything to get it, and eventually just took the temple, when we could.
Yeah that one is weird. It’s a Melandru statue (so vines) yet somehow it is linked to the Grenth event. It was why I was wondering why despite Melandru’s temple being clear, it was active.
Ah thanks for that. Interesting.

So I’ve been wondering, do some NPCs have unique hairstyles and clothes? Like for instance, I really want Korukhan ‘s outfit, but I don’t think I’ve ever encountered that.
I think I remember seeing unique hairstyles from NPCs too. I wonder if they will never be available for players.

If you’re struggling with Hero Challenges, purchase [Ash Legion Spy Kit]s from Kyra Sharptracker, the Renown Hear NPC at Sharptail Encampment (Plains of Ashford). Buy a stack of about 25 of them for karma, and use them as you approach the hero challenges. They are particularly useful for the Statue of Balthazar hero challenge, and the one near Plaza of Lights in Malchor’s Leap.
As for Straits of Devastation, if the giant gate is currently closed, you can walk round to get in from the west, wade through the water and eventually you’ll come to a gap which you can enter and continue your exploration.
That’s how I got the Balthazar HP. Still hate the Lyssa statue HP though. Seriously, it’s not fun. Unlike the Balthazar statues that only spawn meteors with good breathing time, Lyssa statues spawn stun/dazing chaos fields eratically.
My main problem with SoD’s meta is that it requires three far off events to converge to a single location before actually getting the main meta to go. Compare that to the Grenth, Melandru, Dwayna or Lyssa metas, which are fairly straightforward and the starting points aren’t far from the temple.
My main problem with Taimi right now is that she’s just exposition speaker and has this “never wrong” feel to her.
Oh well, at least she’s with Tybalt in that apple farm in the sky now.
I guess the vanilla maps, Orr in particular, are abandoned or something when it comes to updating, but still I should bring this up.
Orr was hard to complete back then but now they eventually lessened the burden due to map population. I can safely do 100% Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore with more or less my typical adventuring gear (though there’s still that HP in Melandru Statue in Cursed Shore that is a pain to get unless you have nullified Grenth’s temple, yeah weird).
However, I feel SoD still has the problems of the original. For instance there’s still that one HP with Lyssa statue that craps out tons of condition and stun attacks, that it’d still take luck getting the HP even if they have sped up the channel. Getting the Balthazar HP too is insanely hard (neigh, impossible) due to the two Veteran Acolytes with somehow endless spawns of Thralls (for some odd reason I died there despite being well enough to regenerate most damage) and the two Balthazar statues. It’s the only Orr map that still requires certain events to be done to be able to clear so easily, unlike say in Malchor’s Leap where you could gain all PoIs and HPs there without much hassle.
So strange that tool kits aren’t affected by this weapon too. Would really love it if I throw cannonball grenades for instance.
If I recall, Shooshadoo also doesn’t change grenades. Granted, if it did, Grenade Barrage would look just like the ice grenades from the #4 skill on the kit (which I wouldn’t mind).
Upon rechecking, the regular grenades aren’t altered but the tool belt skill grenade skill is. Huh…
Lately I’ve been enjoying Flash Freeze, chill really is a nice indirect cc. Though I should really try Aftershock.
What I do want are more opportunities to obtain mid-level materials, maybe high level maps but have say, iron/plat/season/etc. nodes.

@Ookamikun – correction, its triangles with an eye inside, is inherently evil. they think we are their slave.
Oh I know about the illuminati design, but my point is that you’d frequently see triangles in many logos of evil or sinister groups.
That or circles.
Don’t be silly, superheroes don’t exist in Tyria! Moaman is just a myth.
why are triangles inherently evil
wait wait wait
it’s 2017 and bearbows still exist?!
Actually I’d argue only the VB meta should be changed up since it’s the only meta in my experience that doesn’t have any organization or LFG. I do agree it’s probably due to the “defend” phase which probably makes the meta longer than needed.
It has both organization and LFG. It’s incredibly easy if someone explains it just before nightfall and if no one tags up (which seems to attract zerglings like moths to a flame, thus causing the ground events to fail quickly).
I find it a lot more appealing and quick compared to the Dragon’s Stand meta, which requires waiting around for a map to close, trying to get into the organized map(s), dividing into similar sized groups, getting it together for each set of preevents, waiting around for the slower lanes to finish the escorts and vines, waiting for the slower lanes to finish… and there, I’m already exhausted typing out all the times people are just waiting around. It’s a great epic meta, but … I can’t imagine myself participating more than a few times; it’s just too much waiting around.
In contrast, in VB, each person’s individual contribution matters, there is always something you can do to help (including calling out places that need people). And win or fail, it’s over pretty quickly.
tl;dr done well, VB is my favorite of the four.
Even so, I don’t think any of them need “rebalancing” — the each have their own character and I like that about them.
Mind you not saying it’s hard, it’s just I feel it drags on. Unlike the other three meta where fast action result in fast results, in VB you only really feel that at the boss phase. Otherwise you’re on the defensive and it feels like the only big contribution you could feel in the meta are successful defenses as trying to level up rally points barely adds to the meter.
I suspect/hope that we’ll get some action in the Black Citadel as we see things play out with Rytlok’s arrest. He was summoned by higher powers (Smodur?) to account for his new magic. Whether we’ll get to see a tribunal or not, who knows?
Oh right, I forgot about this. Thought it was just a minor thing to keep Rytlock away from the story.
Maybe I just got really lucky, but I got it on my second key since the day the sword has been added in the chest drop. I don’t buy keys too, I only grab them via map rewards and I was filling maps on this character I have.
I love the SAB glider particularly because it features a new animation.
So do you think we’ll get more of something like this in future gliders? Like sure, maybe adapting the broomstick, carpet, etc. but what about something different too, like holding onto a bunch of balloons or such?

Fungus Among Us makes me rage because of the uneven terrain that could prevent you from using skills and the lack of targeting mark for estimating skill 2’s jump. And there’s the usual terrain garbage like seemingly walkable hills being unwalkable.

Charr has the same problem too.
I mean I’m not really complaining, but it is odd for a QoL thing.
I’m still waiting for our beachwear heh
So we got additional mats for various crafts for quality of life changes. Seems like the NPCs weren’t updated, or at least the ones in LA. Like the tailoring station has the ores in their crafting menu, but the tailoring NPC isn’t selling lumps of coal, etc. Same with the artificier (not selling spools).
Maybe it was overlooked? Or was it intentional that they weren’t selling those?
Yeah I did clarify Hoelbrak is getting some presence lately due to Jormag, so that just leaves BC. But I do wonder if they might go for a threefer.
It is curious that Trahearne was originally going for Kralkatorrik before the events of Mordy, I wonder what was his reasoning. I guess it was the next active dragon?
Remember those two cities? I sure do!
I feel like those two are left out on the party in recent events. Even The Grove got in on the action lately, yet last I remembered the two being part of the festivities big time was the Fire and Ice event, and a minor one in gathering the leaders. It doesn’t help that the recurring annual events don’t occur in those cities either.
Sucks too because those place seems to have their own thing going on. Maybe just some minor current events? Maybe for Braham perhaps? But then that leaves the Black Citadel the only place hard to do an event with.
Ah right, open world. I won’t be giving her Elite so GS is out of the question.
My main necro is a reaper, forgoing my old necro who was a tough/condi/crit well user. I felt the latter didn’t get really much useful in PvE and is pretty much wasting a character slot. So am going to re-do her as a power-minion which from what I hear is an enjoyable style in PvE.
What’s an ideal weapon for it though?
