Radiance is kind of meh if you don’t use swords, aside from the refresh on VoJ on kill and extra damage on targets under condition effects (10% flat damage, triggers with one single condition). Burning won’t deal much damage in pve as well, mostly because people with less condition damage than you will simply overwrite your burning, thus making it kind of useless. As for honor, if you ever run something like 1 shout 2 consecrations, try to swap larger symbols for superior aria. That should make things better, since usually you won’t need the extra symbol range.
As for aggro mechanics, each boss behaves differently, but they usually go for people dealing most damage and at close range, at any rate dodging and mitigating damage via WoR/aegis/shield of the avenger is usually a better idea than tanking.

You’re welcome, if the pool was actually the reason you wiped then refer to mesket’s post. If the spider just wiped the floor with your group just using her web then it was a lack of dps/protection/regen/cleanses and healing from other sources.

Just saw this thread again, had a laugh once more, thank you glorious internet.
http://gw2dungeons.net/
There’s your guide.
As for the spider, how exactly were you guys wiping? Poison pools on the floor or just not outdpsing the web spray?
Hello, what is the purpose of this build?
As in what is it intended to be used for.The overall intent is for general PvE dungeons, farming, etc. I wanted to build a tank that will allow all of the glass cannon DPS to do their thing.
Aggro mechanics won’t let you do that. :/
I am friendly, patient and helpful… with people that want to learn.
No need to get Symbolic power. You’re just wasting traits going in here, if you really really want extra damage try to go 25 in radiance, if not, 15 points in there is still a better call than 25 in virtues, usually. Binding jeopardy is a weak trait as well.
TL;DR – Get 10 points from zeal and 5 from virtues and put in radiance.

It is subjective.
For some people their characters are more than a bunch of stats and a dps score. They play the class/spec because they like it. Those people usually do not care how long a dungeon crawl takes, they just enjoy playing their toon.
It is perfectly fine if you do not want to play with those people, they probably do not want to play with you too. Just don’t tell them that they should play something else that is not fun for them. Everybody should be able to play the class/spec he likes. If you do not want to play with them and are looking for a pug, make your own group and a description how you want to play.
What a nice speech… if you’re running for Miss universe.
I still dont understand how running past monster is hard. Some people in TA/Arah make it seem like the hardest thing in the game from how much that fail at it.
It ins’t hard when you know what to do. Pretty sure that skipping, lets say, hotw p1, to get to the troll, is a kittenty experience for any new player left behind, even the skip itself being easy as heck.
I think “skipping” is extremely frustrating for new player. That’s the main problem.
Pretty much this. In any game skipping is usually a pain in the kitten at first glance. People just need to get used to it instead of coming to the forums to complain about it for the 900th time after doing a dungeon once.
Say… have some boss fights with constant damage reflection. You wouldn’t want to just go full zerk and have everyone burst down the boss quickly in a situation like that. Yet there could be some fun play to it. It seems like it could have some nice side effects like healing could be more viable in such a situation as well.
Think of CoE golem without a mesmer/necro or that guy from CM p2, retaliation only makes things annoying, not hard or “unzerkable”. I have no idea what is so hard to understand about risk x reward, if someone is “skilled” enough to run zerk, so be it.
I’m still not sure if OP is serious, tho.
I’m not sure if this thread is actually serious or not right now, i need an adult.
I dropped a cleric box few days ago, got a staff from it and then sold on some npc. Sweet gold.
I stopped playing a support guardian and then I stopped playing altogether. Why? Because elitist cretins that have never played an mmorpg in their entire lives kept kicking me from every single pug I tried to go into as a support guardian. They told me berserker or nothing, and I did not want to play that way, so I just quit. If Anet hasn’t changed this utterly stupid elitist system and made other stats useful in dungeons/PvE in general by now, then I didn’t see them doing it in the future so I quit.
I’ve played tons of mmos, and i use zerkers, why? Because i can adapt, if you think the same mindset you used at WoW, Aion, Rift, L2, or whatever mmo you played before will work here, you’re wrong. Plus, i’m pretty sure you tried to join zerker only runs, without reading, or worse, reading and thinking you could slip thru the gear ping. You’re exactly the kind of player i don’t want in my groups, even when i don’t put “zerker only” on the ad (and i usually don’t), because it seems you can’t learn and just want someone to pat your head and say you’re right.
Because we are boring of raising berserk players from the floor.
Right.
@moss
That’s a bit of a foregone conclusion. When’s the last time you saw somebody change their stance in an internet debate?how about when we all stopped jerking to war/guard/mes and now actually run classes on their own merits?
I got kicked out of a pug yesterday because he only wanted hardcore elitest warriors and I was playing my litham ele
<.<
>.>
Pugs don’t count. I had a mesmer leave his own group earlier today because we had 2 guards and he wanted 1 guard, 3 warriors and him as a mesmer. lol.
I only use my PVT stuff in two situations – DPSing teq (while not defending turrets), running with the zerg in WvW, for everything else there is probably a better piece of gear that you could’ve been using. But by all means, if you run WvW with a large guild and do teq often, do get a PVT set, just make sure you have aditional sets to do other stuff.
It would be better if they removed zerkers.
Clearly zerker gear is OP. Otherwise, why would all the other sets be considered bad?
But the other sets are bad, pve wise. I don’t agree with OP, but it doesn’t mean that cleric, soldier, giver, dire etc are good in PvE. And, remove zerk and we’d use valks, assassin, cavalier or rampager, most likely assassin.
Inb4 “but they’re good in WvW!” Yeah i’m aware of that, i’ll probably put dire gear on my warrior for the lulz while roaming, i’m not using it to pve tho.
Edit – I think i just got double trolled in a troll thread, neat.
I dont want to sound like ,,elitist" or something but really i am asking why?
You’re not, that’s called common sense.
Grenade dps may be low, but it is the best vul stacking in the game right now, by far, thus making the group dps higher.
Ninja’ed.
Don’t push trait points in useless lines just to get the status bonus (zeal – aside from fiery wrath and symbolic exposure – and valor are horrible in PvE).
Don’t build tanky in PvE if you really want to be useful (aggro mechanics in this game are as random as it gets).
Take a look here – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/We-Got-Guardian-Builds
Warrior has higher burst than guardians and better self-buffing habilities, but guardians are much stronger in a group and have more sustained dps.
Don’t ever, never, fall on the trap “if i’m using zerk gear i must forget about support”.
I think that’s all the advice i can provide. inb4 someones jumps in to say play how you want
OP: I bought chocolate ice cream, and for some reason it didn’t taste like chocolate. Why is that?
Brasil: Don’t buy chocolate ice cream. Problem solved. RESPECT ME!!!
Are you putting condition damage in PvE at the same level as chocolate? Burn in hell.

Krytan shield. It looks like a shield and is tidy and shiny.
He solos champs in Frostgorge and Orr. Does it matter how fast it is? With over 3000 power it’s fast enough and you have the very nice ability to just auto-attack AFK.
And how’s that being skilled? lol.
I’d like to point out that conditions will be most likely nerfed on oc15 due to sPvP and WvW issues. Please note that any damage dealing condition already sucks in PvE.
Now think again – Was Brazil’s advice actually bad? I don’t think so.
Fire field and blast finisher. >:
According to reliable sources changing to greatsword just to cast 100b is a 2% dps increase, which seems meh to me, meaning i’d rather have the utility from long bow skills (fire field and blast finisher) to increase the group overall damage than 2% selfish dps.
Rifle is a weak weapon because it just provides with damage, and every melee weapon is better at that.
Need to clarify here. For a ranged weapon choice riffle does so much more damage than a short bow. You should see how kittened berserker warriors look when they pull out a short bow (a condition based weapon) and run around slowly auto-attacking bosses.
If a warrior pulled out a short bow on me i’d call him hax. And everyone looks funny to me after pulling a ranged weapon in most situations.
Also, if said warrior can’t spin to a wall, i’d rather have him to use a bow just to provide pre fight FF + BF.
(edited by Oxxy.7068)
I find it pretty amusing when people say “you do things fast which means you are not having fun!”… now allow me use the same logic in here:
You went home after a hard day of real life obligations, you worked, studied, waited on a godkitten queue or something for like, ~6 hours… and when you get home, what you do? You spend 2 hours doing SEP2 because your party is made of two healways guardians, one pvt warrior that plays with rifle and rifle only and two condition necros using dire gear. How is that fun?
See what i did there?
Buffing conditions would’ve been a nice idea if anet had different balance teams for sPvP, WvW and PvE, instead, they have multiple living kitten teams.
The fun you had was what exactly? Shouting buffs on everyone while running like hell? Do you really need a dungeon to do that? You can do the same thing without leaving LA.
When you have nothing better to say than that, you should really reconsider your arguments.
Wooosh.
You’ll support just fine with zerk gear. Get a set of pvt gear if you intend to do teq on a regular basis tho. For weapons and builds, Hammer is the most support oriented DPS weapon we have, if you want to run hammer + gs use something like 15/25/0/20/10, 15/15/0/30/10 or 15/15/0/20/20, if you want to run s/f, go for 10/30/0/30/0, 10/30/0/5/25 or 0/30/0/30/10. As for runes and sigils, ruby orbs should suffice on your armor, scholar are quite expensive if you just started, and only good if you have the full set, sigil of bloodlust (in case you’re running 30 in radiance), perception (if you’re not using 30 in radiance), force and energy are solid choices, you can also get night and 10% damage against X sigils later on, after you get some extra weapons to swap to.
For me it looks like you didn’t played any non-casual pvp game.
I have, and it has taught me that any bugs that can be exploited for PVP should be removed … much faster than Anet has done with this one in fact.
If you can’t see how this change hurts anyone playing a shout based guardian in PvP then there’s nothing for me to do here, but before i go i’ll throw something here (i’m not sure if you’ll follow the example, but it’s worth a shot) – I remember when Corki was applying more armor reduction on his machine gun than the intended, Riot fixed it, just to, 1 or 2 patches after, change it back since his damage was lackluster without the extra armor reduction. Right now, anet is going to do the same thing if they fail to “fix” the condition spam, or worse, they’ll just nerf and leave at that. It is a bad design decision and “correcting the tooltip” would’ve been better for the time being.
My stance is – PoV removing two conditions is fine and shouldn’t be nerfed the way things are right now.
For me it looks like you didn’t played any non-casual pvp game. “It is a bug, so it should be corrected even if it screws the balance even more”. PoV removing two conditions wasn’t game breaking, nor overpowered, hence why i’m against this change.
The boss puts ppl in crystals if all 5 are stacked takes 1s to free him, if ppl would be spread would be way harder and dangerous to try to free ppl from crystals, that takes some skill and coordination not dodging into a wall when the floor becomes red.
Game is broken on a basic level, anyone knows what happens to mobs/bosses if you go 1m above them ?
If you stack away from the wall the effect is basically the same, all you need to do is take a few steps to hit both alpha and the crystal, assuming the crystal spawns somewhat away from your group. Stacking near a wall only makes this easier and the dps higher.
Oh, got ninja’ed.
Which, for us, falls directly into PoV. Because aside from smite condition we only have lyssa runes and PoV as reliable, on demand, condition removal tools (seriously, we have 3 other sources but they’re highly unreliable, and one of them requires you to use a greatsword).
How are
skipping
dodging in to walls
whirlwind in to walls
LoSing mobs
cleaving mobs
ACTUALLY USING MESMER PORTALSexploits?
your post basically says “playing good is an exploit”
Cause it breaks immersion.
/s
It’s funny because i already saw a post saying the same thing at GD. :<
While we’re at it – If Anet keep doing this non-skip bullkitten this game will turn into another generic MMO were you have to spend 2 hours in a dungeon due to too many mobs before a godkitten ed boss. And just to clarify, i’m talking about skipping fights, not events like the burrows in AC P1.
edit – how is dodging into a wall easier than dodging with no wall at all?
So discussing any balance issues with PoV ins’t worth even after a dev mentioned it? Whoah.
Those seem fine, but “stacking” also refers to things like SE P3 1st boss stacking on the boxes (or whatever they are) or dredge fractal stacking on the wooden supports both of which are clear exploits.
These falls under the stairs category, we’re on the same page here, i think.
You can always opt to do it the hard way. Take ta – new path for example. kill every single thing on your path <3
At last, casual runners rejoice, skipping what you don’t want to kill and bugs are suddenly the same thing.
Know what anet could’ve done long ago? Updated the tooltip, tah-dah. Cleansing spam is the best thing guardians have against heavy conditions, since we can’t spam anything but blinds and burns to “fit the meta”, you take that away and it is a nerf, and one that we didn’t need. I’ll just watch what happens after Oct 15, but there is no way to be sure that this is an acceptable change.
I was about to re-post it here as well, so sad to not have any devs on the dungeon forums.
Also, just checked dredge potions, not working properly as well.
How has this gone unnoticed for over a year?
Maybe it happened last patch or something.
I want to believe.
Guys…. it was a recent bug. You’re acting like it existed since the start of the game.
And you’re implying everybody played since the start of the game, or that the condition meta was also there since launch. It is totally understandable to see people upset about this change.
I never really liked any shout aside from SYG on PvP, guess my opinion won’t change anytime soon, lol.
Ins’t there a dev post somewhere saying that skipping is fine and intended?
Almost every boss behaves differently if the party ranges or melee it. Take spider and alpha for example, if we have someone range-ing any of these, they’ll spam ranged habilities, if everyone is meleeing, you’ll not see said habilities. Pretty sure lupi has some habilities that only affect ranged people as well. I don’t really get how any of that is a bug, it seems like intended combat mechanics to me.
(edited by Oxxy.7068)
In pve you can determine the enemies style by fighting them often; so you know their quirks, which means you need little defensive attributes to kill them, but use strategy, bugs, and smart means.
Seriously, bro?
I have two explanations for this – You think stacking is a bug
Or
You think climbing the stairs at ACP1 is a valid strat
Either way it looks bad.
if 40% of players that show up to Teq are guardians with this build… then Teq would literally die in 7 minutes.
Now that’s funny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Repost this if you are a strong mace/axe warrior who dont need no stacking
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Restoration sigils, lol. This forum is making me laugh way too much today.
But seriously, avoid all on kill sigils but the ones that gives you stacks.
