Well…

There have been plenty of posts and threads of people asking players to respect LFG.

Problem is now people ignore LFG’s and people get frustrated. I made party for AC 3 days ago and had a LFG up:

full run l80 (EXP)erienced

And I had 2 pl join both lvl 80’s then a guy entered: lvl 32
I whispered the player (S)He wasn’t the right level (as we asked for lvl 80’s,but the dungeon was lvl 35 minimum anyways) and if he could switch to lvl80: no reply
We tried again to whisper: no reply, so we kicked the player….

Next a lvl 28 joined (new player with a paid account as f2p cannot join under lvl 30??),
we didn’t even bother to ask and kicked all players until our party was filled with lvl 80’s, needless to say it was a waste of time (10 minutes).

I do not feel like I need to explain everything in LFG each time. Second level 30 or lower shouldn’t be able to join LFG anyways for AC (=lvl 30 min for story)

Now see how much fun raid party building will be when you need 10 and people think they can join whenever they want because they can ignore the wishes of the group…

Now I do not request dungeon meta, I do not require specific classes, I do prefer people with experience on paths who have l80 gear…I leave experince up to the players I had perfect ac runs with people all having less then 2k ap. I do not accept people joining on a lvl not being 80 and not communcating.

I could accept someone saying: Well this is my second account and I decked it out with all lvl 39 rare gear, and a rare l39 dungeon set. And I’ll accept the 10-15% dps loss from 1 player.

If someone joins with his iron sword and doesn’t say anything, he could have a mixed build, garbage trinkets and no clue whatsoever… I like a fast run and have done runs in less then 45 minutes for some time now….. Wasting 10-15 minutes kicking idiots is a huge loss of time. And NO I will not go with a person who cannot/ will not communicate.

Leaving me thinking: I respect your LFG’s so I hope you’ll behave the same with mine.

This in effect is the same problem the OP has. People do not respect his LFG. Just doing so would instantly fix it. This also means F2P people cannot join path sellers.

I did this event a few times now…

Forgetting the event was bugged when released I want to comment:

  • Rewards are abysmal:
    - In the end you could buy skins IF you have the gold
    - Nothing for vets? I would really have liked the halloween backpack from 2012…it’s one of the (less then half dozen) items I missed…
  • Playing together Apart
    - If you steal use of cata’s snatch explosives from people who try to figure out what to do and so on you’ll get up to 18-20+ quite easily, This doesn’t allow for fair play, I’ve killed a lot of husks, only to see somone drop dead in front of me and my interact resses him and ppl wait and leave me with nothing to get a hit with, this to a point where I actually missed credit for 1 or 2 vines,
    - Also individuals and even groups on tag show up upscale the boss wait until they have a tag and run off collectively leaving you to die in the upscaled event…

So regarding loot:

  1. Make stuff cheaper, doing the events should warrant a reward. If you cater this to new player you should also consider many do not have 10 gold. Second asking money as a vendor after I saved the area you’re in is an unwise thing, I’d wait to see the vendor eaten and tell his replacement why.
  2. Make drops more rewarding and the dailies less relevant, I ’d prefered 10 per unique map and 2 per Thingy killed this will reward play after the 1st time you did play the event in a specific map and/or when you cannot play 3 hours in a row… making replayability better…
  3. make drops appear on the individual events if you kill 5 trees get 5 (preferably 10 see 1 above) but all in individual drops If you kill 18 you get more not 10 and 15 at 20… stepped scaling is horrid.
  4. make the event PAY OUT on the moment the small events are finished, and only to people in RANGE of the event, so people do not tag and skip. Latecomers will get their pay, People who want fast tags get -NOTHING-.
  5. DO reward Upscaled Bosses, but reward ONLY 1 bloom if the event spawned any champions. With 10 champ bosses still 1 bloom in total, so people will not stack 75 on 1 tag. it will mena a decent group tries to do an event
  6. On end of the event there could have been a small reward based on the collective kills, say a bonus on event of
    1 bloom for every 5 events actually completed (on a full map) or
    1 for every 4 completed on a 75% full map or
    1 for every 3 completed on a 50% full map
    1 for every 2 completed on a 25% full map
    when the timer hits 0:00; provided of course you actively participated (e.g. 10% of the total events?) (to prevent afk farming)

And please think about the people you were writing this for: Starters, they have a couple of gold if they are lucky, if they have the blooms, the vendors wil be up for some time now and therefore they can farm the gold afterwards… but it should be affordable in the first place… not an afterthought.

We as players should get money/rewards as we are the hired help… the vendors should be summarily executed for making money of the people trying to save the world, maybe we should feed them to the mordrem. Feet first.

I think this has been said before, but:

you enter an event as a new player and you think well this is it
you finalize the last one kill and you get no reward -.-
they you retry twice to see if it’s patched….

Then the next day you get your patch and you think well lets do this I only need 450 for a halo… should be doable and you get 20 once a day and 5 more for every full 5 plants you kill with new players with green and blue gear…

And you think what the F… am I doing here ? this last 4 days …. I have 4 hours a day so I farm 75-105 blooms a day if I try my utter best , so.. I ’m stuck at 300, maybe 420 if I get those few from thursday… leaving this event a waste of 4 days playing if you do want the halo and if you have a life. By this time it feels depressing, but you might farm 2 hours a day more. killing 6 hours of your day for 4 days.

Then upon receiving all 450 blooms you notice you also need 10 gold for the halo whcih is unaffordable by newer players … also because NO critter whatsoever drops anything of value….. At this time deinstalling your gw2 computer is moust plausible…

For me as an experienced it’s simple I did the daily and looked at it and thought:
I still have 3 halo’s and 1 thoughtless potion….
I have all 4 spinalbladebacks unlocked, check….

I think I’ll leave it, I still need the 3 maps on some alts and I’ll run them through these area’s and get the dailies…. lost event. I was hel;ping 2 new players, 1 said he was very dissapointed, the othe said He’d move on to another game, cause this simple buuged grindfest was more pain then it was worth and consequently then he wanted.

Make a genie who’ll be able to be summoned once a day (,if fed enough luck,) and gives:
- you a precursor
or
- you a trip to somewhere you do NOT not want to be. In a solo fractal without an exit, other then finishing it or a dungeon path with no exit, except finishing it. You can gamble or do the path whcih could give you any named exotic on succes But if you log out and in again, you’ll be back in your dungeon/fractal.

All rewards account bound.
(Want to forge 4 pre’s ? Well now you could! -disclaimer: 4 forged pre’s do not give a guaranteed pre on forging, but if it does, it’s not bound-)

We’ll see when you’re in your solo Arah path…. or fighting Mai Trin ,forever, if this was worth the gamble.

After 14 days the casual has 2 maybe 5 gold? having nop clue what top do and trying to grab WP’s in area’s where he /she should do events..

you still have the random factor, even if you removed crits….

dmg in gw2 is something like

dmg applied =
(modifier
(Power * Weaponstrength/ Enemy armor) * 1 (+ Crit section)

Crit section:
+ Critical chance (+ ,50 + (critical dmg/100))

Power(modded by might, food/utility/banner ,etc
Weaponstrength(=dmg value listed on weapon, the 2 values give the top and bottom end of the weaponstrenght as generated by the rng)
Enemy armor (total of: 6 armor pieces+toughness(+shield) (modded by food/utility/banner)
Critical chance(modded by fury,food)
Critical dmg(modded by food and banner)

this dmg will change when target is protected -33% dmg
this dmg will change when applier is weakened (no crits, 50% chance to deal 50% dmg)
this dmg will be modified by weapon traits, conditional traits sigils and utility foods (x-slaying) these values will be added multiplicative not additive…. (so night, slaying,10% food) will give +33.1% dmg (1.1*1.1*1.1)

Afterwards you’ll need Transmutation charges.

Why they are not infinitely applicabe? probably cause A-net wants to get some income, and keep gold sinks alive, though IMHO (partial) map completion will get you a decent set of transmutation charges for customisation, and when all sales are over and gem prices have normalized buying charges with gold (150gems for 5 charges, ~15-20 gold) is a way as well.

Ascended Nomad Amulets

The nomads trinkets are released on the first 4 LS s2 episodes on completing ALL related achievements. You’ll get your first set free if I’m right and can buy the amulet at the NORMAL laurel vendor in PvE afterwards, NOT in fractals, NOT in WvW….. I guess it should be available in dry top as well, but I actually never checked it tbh…

Conditions Everywhere

I really wonder where you people get lazy gameplay, you need to get conditions applied first. even when playing ranged well builds or other remote applied conditions you can easily disengage, melee conditions (S/S, soon also S/T, warrior and Chill reapers) are way different,

This shifting Meta will force people to think:

  • close range?
  • long range?
  • how do I make a window of opportunity??
  • artrition of cleansing?
  • artrition of heals?
  • stun/spike?
  • Perma CC?
  • 2 way attack?
  • stealth hit?
  • hit and run?
  • 2 vs 1? or more?

Most conditions in PvP are only influenced by runes and sigils, so caps are at +75% duration (45% rune, 20% specific and 10% all conditions)…., if you do not care to bring stacking sigils (max 12% increase) or bursting (6% increase), negating can be more difficult., but I probably invest in other sigils to stay alive…

In WvW, the meta? Well:

Roaming Meta = PvP Meta only with food and Ascended quality gear and way more stat combo’s… as you can mix stats you can balance to near perfection….
Havoc Meta = WvW Meta ((cleansing) semi tough DPS builds)with PvP meta only with food and Ascended quality gear
Zerg Meta = WvW Meta ((cleansing) semi tough DPS builds)(with some Dungeon builds(Burst (Conditions)))
Guild Meta = Special…. (depends on visions of the guilds (ranged or PBAOE necro’s and similar things in relation to purpose and tactics.) and as such the builds are interlocked with certain purpose or communicated goals in others)

And PvE?

Dungeon Meta: (Burst (Conditions)) Just kill stuff and everybody is happy, faster kills: more happy faces.

I think you are still missing the point…. at last regarding the so called OP status of condi’s.

Power has been meta for 3 years , conditions were available in PvP and found in WvW
these conditions not yet stacks were the same IN MOST cases, only capped at 25… or 1 in case of burning or poison.

Due to the fact warriors,guardians,rangers and ele’s could outheal burning or poison with 2 bleeds with HS, regen traits or skillls or just plain regeneration, and nothing lived after the people stood there dps-ing a couple of seconds nobody had problems.

Now conditions show HOW OFTEN they were negated. burning no longer has a max stack of 1, but of 1500…. Same for poison…

Previously in pvp / wvw if 2 people shot you with 5 poisoned arrows you smiled and ignored it, now you get those 10 stacks stacked and not after each-other… and you notice how much damage was ignored while people actually tried to put it on you.

The “weak in groups non viable condi builds” now are something to consider, as is cleaning, reduction and ALL POSSIBLE ways of removing or lowering condi dmg, but the 3 years made people ignorant, or at least less informed on achieving ways to mitigate or remove… where people are fully adept or mastered at DPS denial.

Also the ways to do damage always seem to sprout first and the solutions to counter new developments are a bit slower… arms race in MMO’s…

Most of these TRULY OP CONDI examples are like the 48 step engineer rotation (interupting it???) or the burning guard which can be cleansed INSTANT with 1 cleanse losing the whole spike and consequently being stuck at 4-9 burning… with no other sources of condition dmg…. Also it was very nice: I took my burning guard to the mega destroyer while it is affected, the pre’s are all hairy cause you run into all critters having imunity to burning ….leaving you with a knights build without the toughness… in a condition rich environment…

I’ll say this:

When soloing content conditions can be a huge problem… Then again I have my support/tank guard on a shout cleanse build, cleaning 13-15+ conditions in seconds…
Or my shout heal warhorn warrior with 4 shouts and 2 condition removals on warhorn..
rangers have acces to shouts (RaO, Sic’m, ressing when traited…, Guard and so on) Tempest will have shouts… and so on

When playing in groups one or 2 of thse builds can compleely negate all condition dmg in a group of 5, even in WvW zerg combat… In fact it’s so effective people noticed and NOONE USES CONDITIONS IN ZERG vs ZERG

Havoc WvW 5-10 ppl parties se a huge increase in Condi builds, though a lot of escapes exits (PU mesmers being essential to the survivability of the 5 man squads) these are packed with condi dealers and cleansers.

Roaming however is condi vs condi-return vs condi clear. your build tries to spike, out dps or just clean the stuf before you die.

In PvE I sometimes take my WvW shout heal warrior, grab a zealot armor and clean and facetank to the boss… regen helps a lot. I do not even use healig signet… use adrenal health and regen banners and if needed a shout heal for myself. It is so powerfull you negate ALL condi dmg….. in an entire dungeon, or at least you keep everybody alive and well untill the final boss is staring at daisies…

Most people stare blind to cleansing but forget Light field combo’s… condi duration removal with food, runes and sigils…

All melee, sword users:

Present Proffesions:
1 sword warrior (dual possible, condition build)
2 sword guardian (main hand only, DPS) (support type char)
3 sword ranger (main hand only, DPS)
4 sword thief (main hand only, DPS)
5 sword mesmer (dual possible,DPS) (support type char, “caster” proffesion)

Future proffesion:
6 sword revenant (dual possible,DPS)

I find the warrior and the mesmer closest to sword masters,
thief’s sword is an interesting weapon allowing 3 targets cleaving DPS shadowsteps and easy interupts, being less powerfull then daggers it still hits more, for okay dmg
ranger’s sword is powerful (more powerfull even then GS) but tends to frustrate me a bit while playing, 3 targets as well…
guardian’s sword is the max dps melee weapon (not considering burning)
warrior’s sword has acces to dual swords and is a purely condition based weapon revolving around bleeds, cripples ad immobizes (and in case of offhand more bleeds and torment)
mesmer’s sword is a dps weapon allowing for a short invulnerability on skill #2, reasonabe powerfull it’s the DPS melee weapon for mesmer offhand allows for a resonable powerull phantasm and has acces to 2 skills producing clones on succes

revenant’s swords are coupled to Shiro. and will be a DPS set.

Dire isn’t god mode… Dire is just making DPS useless…. Dire build vs Dire will be both interesting and boring, rabid or carrion vs dire might actually even show some or a lot of skill as well.

Actually all builds having condition dmg should be capable of taking on dire builds…

As for soldiers and dire builds they will die at an equal rate if not having acces to cleansing. they both stand out the same when looking at countering DPS as well.

Only thing is Dire will kill Soldiers due to armor negation. Which is DOT’s purpose.
The thing is with Dire it you’ll be wet noodling objects… (remember the engineer turret thingies? OBJECTS!) at this time objects are the condition builds greatest enemy. Doors, barriers and so on. and skills / mechanics which can send conditions back (necro, sigil of generosity) .

Well considering I switched my legendary to zerker and it has been there EVER since, I only think this is cosmetics?

  • Condi builds are powerfull against any builds with or without toughness as long as they cannot mitigate or remove conidtions. and as many “Meta-Builds” ignore condition removal or people are not used using the the cleanses and mitigations are ignored.
  • Regarding “no skillI” tend to disagree. Mostly because you need a decent build, you need to keep into consideration you yourself are a target as well escpecially if people know you are tanky conditions. You can be completely mitigated in any content with some condi removal builds (shout clean builds warrior/guardian) and other methods… leaving you with fewer stacks or NO dmg.Guard burn as your example is only 1 condition… and it’s relatively easily cleaned.
  • And differenced between zerk (no toughness) or knights(toughness main) in dying to conditions? NONE whatsoever…. But with runes of hoelbrak/melandru/antitoxin and lemongrass you can remove 64% of the condi dmg instant on application (which works a bit strange which could be looked into.)
  • Resistance will be usefull, or obsidian flesh and those kind of traits if they still exist
  • Zerk builds will melt -allways- due to only carrying skills for DPS, not for sustain. which is not the condition user’s fault, but the fault of the zerk player.
  • condi builds relying on less then 700 condition dmg (read: all builds solely relying on might for condition dmg) were actually nerfed … Most condi’s were nerfed tbh… bleeds, burning, poison all got toned down a bit or much, only we can stack 1500 stacks now… burning dmg was halved….
    But as i can get 2100 condition dmg and a decent amount of stacks (more then 3 in most cases ) on my burning guard, it can be quite powerfull. but regarding numbers burning guard, burning ranger are quite powerfull, I’m no engineer opayer but it should have seen good dps progress as well. Warrior will get a decent buff when berzerker goes live, mesmer can do some dmg (mostly due to 2450 condi dmg for a mesmer is not really difficult and clones WILL apply conditions).
  • In all cases these ultra spikes are made the same way as DPS spikes. You stack stacks, might and fury, use banners and food and you mak sure your timing is right… in PVE a (SINISTER) condi guard can have a stack of (Max) 3000 condition dmg (in a very competent party) on a true spike.. If you’d bring it in wvw it will die the first shot fired though… being -glass- with -no HP pool-.
  • If you hit 3 or 4 buttons with guard you have 6 maybe 8 or 9 stacks… you can get up way higher but it wil last a second if you are lucky.. also if the guard thinks: he will have fire aura, like condi warrior, making any counterattacking just stack added burning…

The waypoints were attacked , but not destroyed, the vines held the waypoints they made them inoperative

This waypoint is clearly gone.. it doesn’t function (obviously)

  1. I hope this will not be implemented, mostly due to the abuse which this can/will cause (reading stats and kicking in dungeon paths/ lfg setup’s and so on…)
    Suggestions to this point have been made over and over again and dismised by the community, Asking for just the exterior skin names will get you the name and it will enhance social speak in the game. If you really need to know what people are wearing fior group content use PING as add-on in LFG,
  2. You can ping the individual traits now whichis a good step up from before, but most people still default to build editors to do so. I agree on this one, would like a build ping or link / build save/ build load
  3. I have no problems with the camera at all, but I have gotten used to all quirks.
  4. Ping is Shift+click on mini map and you can mark the normal map, shift will also place location names in chat box, shift and move will allow fro drawing on the mini map. seen by opthers and most often ignored. network Ping is located under F11 it will show you actual return times from A-Net (as stated by A-Net)
  5. Turn of your sounds: Problem solved. Don’t care about it tbh.0

Well… Well…. ,the _Holy_Trinity…?

I’m fine with the present setup; When utilized well it performs to a degree where all players say faceroll… but I have 75% of my Pick-Up-Groups (PUG’s) not using it due to the fact they can out-DPS the content… They will kill stuff (enemies/ objects) quicker then enemies/objects will kill them. This is a problem, cause to make this game balanced there should be a balance point with mid level gear where pwople can stay alive due to speccing and a “top -layer” where people will stay alive due to making no mistakes. these to have merged. leaving any person knowing and able to press 1, arrow keys and V, also able to do most, if not any content.

We have Control (problem is the immunity of MANY bosses, practical use only on elites,verterans and normal enemies, while champions and legendaries are immune after 1 hit, and need real careful attention by 1 dedicated player to use this to some degree of effect.)
As it is now playing CC usefully is only possible in a group not using it at all or in organized content, my favcorite application: hammer(stun) on the 3 igniters at the start of COF 2, and the other one halfway. And of course deep freeze (Icebow skill 5)
(better and important applications are immobilizing the grawl shamans in the grawl fractal and immobilizing assasins in COf 2 again when I find a very green pug group in CoF 2)

We have support (Always utilized all classes bring some)
Well though it will make all runs faceroll, most people do not learn how to use support due to DPS rotations killing 90% of the game beteer and more efficient then trying to utilize other stuff. if you have people actually making use of this it is mostly perma fury from ele’s, might from PS warriors might and empower allies buff from warriors and stealth from thieves, and if ytouu are lucky reflects from guard and mesmers and quickness from guards and mesmers…… The end.

- Stealth/Invisibility
- Protection
- Cleansing
- Resilience
- Regeneration, Lifesteal & Healing
- Might & Fury
- Quickness
- Banners
- Direct trait buffs: empower allies/spotter/strength in numbers/ (ferocity on daredevil)

We have damage (Everybody has acced to either 1 or both of these)

- DOT

So in effect GW2 has a Holy Duo , with the 3rd thing only having limited use, even with a breakbar CC is very limited, BUT it will be better compared to the present situation and give rise to the New Trinity, which will be a replacement for the holy trinity and the holy duo.

And for healing while giving support a zealot healing ele can give 1977 healing / second excluding all other skill then auto, soothing mist and regen. for the first 6 second of attunement. when coming from earth, it can provide 1-3 healing blasts (2200 points each) and 35+ seonds of regen before starting this continous 1977 hp/sec heals, when needed a spike from geyser and blast can be given any time for an instant 7.5k heal, dodging will add another decent heal if traited.

I have duo armor as well for my main. and several other armors tbh…

Mostly for stats, the builds are the same and the runes also, This would mean If I’d get legendary armor the 2 armor sets would become available to alts.

Of course you could get 2 or 3 legendary sets? per weight?

imo thats the true problem, 40% is simply to much, they should remove both foods or tune it down to 10-20%

if you have -40% and the condi player doesnt have +40% its way to easy to win

if you dont have -40% and the condy player has +40% its way to hard to win

i really wonder that there are not alot more theards about how OP that buffod is, everyone that plays condi and use the food can confirm that it has a huge impact on the fight, maybe everyone just blames condi without thinking that condi would not be that good without the bufffood

ps: for for zergfights it doesnt even matter, the aoe condi clean is immense

I accept removing 40 and changing it top 40 IF and ONLY IF all condition reduction stats are halved as well. On FOOD!, melandru, antitoxin, hoelbrak and other runes, on obsidion armor -50% reduction of DOT dmg for duration, resistance giving 50% condition dmg reduction while its up and so on.

Yes. thats right. Only then !

Else look around and find stuff for your build. -40% condition food, condition removal on sigils/traits, -20-24% from runes (Or more) cleanses from your zerg/havoc group/ roaming partners, this coupled with cleanses and resistance should be sufficient, and else get a build which will overpower and kill the condi user before you die.

Oh you forgot:

+25% condition duration outgoing/-40% condition incoming which is perfect for condi vs condi battles..

Spinal bladers is ARMOR!

Spinal blades are backpacks. They share characteristics with armor and with trinkets (although they do not share much with weapons, as the OP implied):

  • Armor-qualities: breakable, can be reskinned.
  • Trinket-qualities: appears in trinket slot, uses similar upgrades (doubloons|gemstones, not runes).

True, but craftable by armor crafters like Armorsmith, Tailor and Leatherworker. No backpack was craftable by Jewelers in the time…. Of course nowadays even chefs can make a backpack

If your doing dungeons

Just bring 1 Sinister ele and 1 DPS PS banner warrior.
Add :
1-3 Sinister/Balthazar burning guards,
Stirr Carefully; Your DPS/DOT mix-drink is now ready (kittentail is blocked But bloody mary isn’t.)

Alternatively use
3 Sinister/Balthazar burning rangers A/T with Fire drakes and Reef Drakes
1 Sinister/Balthazar burning engineer
1 DPS PS banner warrior (LB/GS)
Mix ever so carefully, Chance of spontaneous combustion…

Light the BBQ:
-Have the ele/engineer stack might, 25 stacks should be nice.
-Warrior stack banners & empower allies
then collectively immolate your boss the added 830 condi dmg and 1000 power from the buffs and might stacks will help,( so will 3 guards casting quickness and Whirling in the Firefields) and the Warrior should remain in combat and keep might at 25….

Scroll out and watch: Your Roast will melt before your eyes, At recharge reapply all burning.When opting for the rangers make sure you spread out staying withing melee range and keep health above 90% for a nice toxic & bloody BBQ..

Then move on to next BBQ.

Now you know why it’s called Citadel of Flames, versions I to VIII

I tend to get 3-4 exotic/ascended DPS characters (3k-25.5k AP) when I ask for l80 EXP
takes 1-2 minutes runs tend to go without fails

I tend to get 3-4 exotic/ascended Zerk characters (0,5k-7,5k AP) when I ask for l80 ZERK
takes 30 secs runs tend to go with occasional wipes

I tend to get 3-4 players using ? (1k-25.5k AP) when I ask for l80 META
takes 1-5 minutes runs go with occasional wipes and a lot of elitism and friction

I tend to get 4 players using ZERK (2.5k-28K AP when I ask for l80 ZERK PING
takes 2-10 minutes runs go mostly without wipes and disband on wipe, Everybody comments all and any. Elitist?

I tend to skip on guild dungeon rushes (1k-25k AP) w people using mostly DPS gear
invite only, skill really dependant on players… TS normal

I tend to not do speedruns anymore (1k-25kAP) w people using dungeon gear ONLY and timer set. Runs will go flawless and make any attempts narrowing down even further after l80 EXP seem a useless effort. party on invite only. TS normal.

Regarding duration of the dungeons (fastest to slowest, depending on no wipes/resses):

  1. Speedruns
  2. l80 (Zerk Meta) PING (experienced)* (zerk/meta, exotic and higher, asc preferred)
  3. l80 EXP (DPS zerk/assassin/sinister/zealot (could be anything) exotic and higher)
  4. l80 Zerk (META) (should be zerk/meta)
  5. l80 (Zerk (Meta)) PING (inexperienced, exotic and higher)
  6. l80 Zerk (could (and sometimes will) be anything)
  7. l80 (will be anything, often contains people with lower skill/low quality gear)
  8. Open (will be anything, exotic is only available from lvl 63 up)

Regarding elitism (Worst to least IMHO)

  1. l80 Zerk Meta (PING): You will know what you should do if you do not do so or kicks
  2. l80 Zerk Meta: You will know what you should do and / or use if you do not do so or kicks
  3. l80 Zerk: Sometimes you are informed about what you should do if you do not do so
  4. Speedruns: Party will silently disband on 1st Big Error and will reform without the person who fubar-ed the run. On wipe no reform.
  5. l80 Exp: Rarely sombody informs you on errors, on horrid errors: kicks or disbands
  6. l80 / Open: Nobody cares as long as the job gets done.

AP as a measurement is useless, I see many friends (true speedrunners) running 2nd accounts and be kicked though they can solo many if not all soloable paths on their alt accounts as well… I also know a lot of real hardcore pve addicts who have 18k AP and NEVER do dungeons….

I have done all paths (dungeon master) I have the trinkrts for several dungeons (AC,CoF,SE, CoE and TA) but rarely if ever play CM, HotW and Arah…

  1. I consider myself L80 Zerk for all 8 dungeons (
    - gear OK)
  2. I consider myself L80 Zerk Meta for 5 dungeons (
    - gear OK,
    - sigils:night/force & food,
    - basic rotations)
  3. I consider myself L80 EXP for 4 dungeons (
    - gear OK,
    - sigils:night/force & food,
    - advanced rotations & improvisations
    - know most paths intricately (=very well),
    - know skills/builds/abilities of self, players and enemies and their mechanics,
    - know fields and combo’s,
  4. I consider myself Speedrun for 2 (maybe 4) dungeons (
    - gear OK,
    - sigils:night/force & food,
    - rotations
    - know most paths intricately (=very well),
    - know skills/builds/abilities of self, players and enemies and their mechanics,
    - know fields and combo’s,
    - specific dungeon sets/food & skill/traith choice/boss,
    - full path knowledge,
    - play without autotargetting, and consequences
    - experience in skips and runs)

Sudden graphical slowdown

I experienced this FPS drop before, and it’s generally caused by a crashing audio in gw2 (well in my case it tends to be…).

Symptoms:

  • I can continue to play but sound is in a (rather long) loop.
  • Combat sounds often no longer occur
  • FPS drops from 40-80+ to 12-18 max

Ways to recreate?

No actual idea, I suffer it sometimes while playing :

  • When playing and moving main audio from my realtek (connected to analog 5.1 headset) to Nvidia audio (connected to speakers using my screens mic jack) (I always have gw2 sound through the headset),
    then reverting this change (returning default audio to the headset (realtek) my games sound BOUND to the REALTEK shifts to the speakers, (is processed by the Nvidia audio driver now), if I check in the f11 menu page, under audio, you’ll see the realtek should still be the audio device, and then swiching back audio INGAME (can be done by selecting default, and then realtek).
    Crash occurs within 1,5-2hrs playing later in my case, giving me the assumption this causes a leak somewhere… mostly after a map change (giving me the idea the data is no longer flushed.) (I have not yet actively trying to port map to map to create full audio/ sample buffers if they are used, could speed up the process though; could work…)
  • And sometimes while just playing the game, though way less frequent,

In both cases: having higher quality audio seems to aggravate the problem & frequency.
All based on personal observations, I’ve heard people talk about these problems before on TS when playing with the guild, low FPS and looping audio.
I have no data to support it any further.

Solution?:
No way out but to terminate the proces (gw2.exe), it’s an indirect App Hang…

  • If I terminate gw2 by using the task manager and restart, all is fine.
  • If I exit through the normal methods (alt+F4, or try log out) I get a crash warning: this application is not responding bla bla bla and I need to terminate it in task manager first, and only then I can restart, else gw2 will remain active and looping. cannot reenter though.

Related hardware in my case:
Realtek ALC 898 audio 7.1, used in 5.1 config (headset), is audio solution of my Asus Rampage IV Extreme (X79 chipset, i7 3930 @3.8Ghz, 32 Gb 1866Mhz Ram, 2 GTX 780 in Sli (secondary audio via HDMI from card #1)
Had this error on Win 7 and now on Win 10, All drivers ok, been replaced
(and updated), error persisting & still occuring.


Non related:
Oh and lag is bad lately , 1-2.5 seconds…. in some maps, I have both chat lag and skill lag. but it doesn’t cause my fps to nosedive, maybe too lose 3-5 fps on 60+

I know you we are talking about people not reading LFG, but if the other 4 players were experienced L80 zerk players, you should have been able to bring a level 35 naked Thief and still not wiped…

Sounds like the other zerk players in the group should practice more in soldier’s gear or something.

I have duo-ed and trio-ed AC with PUGS as well, If you run it well with 2 or 3 people you can kill everything without suffering any damage, only Kohler can be a bit tricky.

p1 might be a bit more challenging (1st scepter room) but p2 and 3 are relatively easy…

DPS was very low for zerks. People were ~ 4.5k AP…. avg. thief was 2.5k

It’s respect and courtesy to abide by the LFG, I joined a party today, party was 1 guard, 1 ranger, 1 engineer and myself on ele, LFG was made: full run l80 Zerk ELE!

1st we had a lvl68 thief join, he actually asked if he could stay, but was boot-ed nevertheless
2nd was an engineer at lvl75, he didn’t reply on requests regarding his level and the fact we requested an ele, and he was kicked way faster then the thief.
3rd time: A lvl80 thief appeared, with the hand on the kick from party he said he was worthwhile, so we set of in AC for our full run:

Spider Queen:;
1st wiping at the spider; no WoR or smokescreen, 2nd time we kill the Spider 1 guard and the ele remaining though my lavafont from going down actually killed him…
Gravelings in trap corridor:
Used eruption , arcane wave and brilliance on a engineer firefield, sandstormed the gravelings and DPS-ed, succeeding in killing them, we move to the traps, the thief dies in the traps, the engineer gets downed while ressing him…thief uses SB to get to top of the corridor and runs through to Kohler. After ressing the warrior and disabling the traps for the other people we arrive at Kohler;
Kohler:
Stacked might, dropped MS, Icebow and the ranger #4 LB-ed Kohler out of the range for Deep freeze, almost second wipe, anger and Thief Die. Warrior, guard and ele managed to kill a ghost an we rallied and got up…. Killing Kohler a bit later, on to the 1st Graveling room,
The 6 Graveling burrows:
Actually it went very smooth and I teleported into the small room with the staircase, while unseen by me and the party Hodgins died of conditions outside the door… The full group ran on triggering the Oozes… only to notice -nothing- happened, I reran to the graveling room, ressed Hodgins, got the 1st scepter.
Fragments room:
I ported again, ran to the room for the scepter fragments, sped up hodgins, and the 1st collector, again the thief, dies; second runner goes for piece 4 and 5 and decides to run back through the door back into the room pulling some gravelings, getting into combat.. we kill the gravelings…
Tunnel run:
And run to the tunnel entrance, all people stack except the thief, I give swiftness and see the thief use a short duration heal and vanish into the tunnels. The party runs after him
We see hime stop at the first corner and he casts SR, we arrive late, and he runs off, 3 people wipe in the confusion, and the thief says: I’m there… consequently 3 people leave…
He was the most usefull addition to our group?

The thief sold his path on LFG not much later, while I searched for and found a decent l80 EXP group which contained a thief, guard, engineer and necro. A flawless run with only me getting downed once in 3 paths during a Kohler whirl…

In the end my second attempt of AC full cost me less time then getting a LVL 80 Zerk party, having the frustration of 3 people not reading the desc, and a person ultimately joining solely for their own gain….

I do not care about the thief. Block lists are patient. Just 1 of the 1000 full runs… Luckily most are way more pleasant.

Guess we should have gone with the level 68 instead. Just as a remark I never kick players unless they cannot actively participate in content, so I do kick a lvel 65 for joining CoF. I do not care for proffesions or gear. If you can pay with what you have it’s fine by me. I just hope you’ll be respecting the PARTIES WISHES!

Most groups are doing a gear check?? NO you wish, about 1% of the LFG’s is gearcheck, AND I avoid them. Not because of the check cause I will pass it, but due to the persons thinking it matters.

I’ve been there a LOT, Gear check , then get a Meta group (2 ele, war, guard and a -fill in blank here-, but mostly thief or mesmer) In the ghear check people only watch zerker …
Or better yet Zojja.. No Assassins mesmer will get in… NO… can’t happen. and usefull sigils? If I ping ghost slaying and night on an exotic staff I get kicked from AC parties and If I post my ascended staff with Fire and Bloodlust I’m allowed in… same for smothering and night… People do not have a clue…

Then food, After all this effort no effort is made to get rid of people without food, cause those 10% DMG and DEFENCE do not seem to matter. Problem though if the engine looks for “toughness” they’ll attack people using it -first-. this is solves by having all people use the 10% food.

I just hope people will think before they think this is like WoW or any other given MMORPG with hardcore neccesary grindable content before setting out on dozens of epic challeging, in your eyes now almost impossible, missions -which should be accesible to all- for the same stats as you already had.

Now just wait till the 1st 5 man party clears it, then the 1st 3 man party,….

You know it will happen. Solo maybe not, but Duo might … Unless they use 3 buttons for the doors -.-

Then a little later a party with 10k AP combined finishes it… in rare gear…

We’ll know when it’s there. And you know what will happen. I just hope these raids have less skip possibilities then Arah once had. or TA or and other dungeon for that matter.

Nowadays i see people running AC p 1,2,3 in the same instance…

If you only press 1 and F, you are way to slow to be considered elitist or hardcore. You will be below newbie level… having the capacities of a lvl 80 and using those of a of a level 2 character. Think about it. Let it sink in.

I love this discussion as it is always the same. Or do I???

Problem of both groups is you boths do not see what is the solution.

  1. Yes you have Casuals and more Fanatic players; Hardcore or Elitist whatever you call them…
  2. Yes it’s good to finish stuff ASAP.
  3. No it is not a challenge to make all meta builds for each engagement and use them and say I’m faster then a casual group, if you wouldn’t be you really, really need some practice. Trust me.
  4. Yes It is a challenge to make all meta builds for each engagement and use them and make world records. See Reddit and some true speedrun meta. I cannot do it.
  5. Yes it’s an achievement to go as fast as possible with a group with the builds they like, even if they are all meta zerk, AND it’s not worth bragging about unless you did get the World Record though.
  6. Yes it will be slower allowing the use of any and all personal builds then just Meta-ing, and it will be more impressive, social and in the end rewarding (You’ll learn new things, really). Though l80 EXP can be as quick as l80 zerk meta…
  7. Yes it will take people more skil to finish it doing it with groups with “non Meta builds”
  8. Yes I hope people will need builds for SPECIFIC tasks. (CC, Conditions, Support, Healing, Simple DPS) and I hope this will add to mutual respect.
  9. Yes, if you can SOLO 10 man CHALLENGING content the devs will have made some BIG mistakes.
  10. Yes, if only 1% can finish it HoT will be the last expansion. I can guarantee it.
  • Yes this discussion is starting to get very stale. HF Now, I’ll see you in the CGC :P

I’m not complaining, I just hope they’ll return. But I am a gaming veteran as well and I doubt the majority will. I have great hope for the future for gw2 as a game.

My old gw1 guild fused with a different guild and is still a blossoming guild with 475 member and only 30 away/holidays… I left it well over 20 months ago though, only rejoiing it after request for a few months, to support the leaders…

I have been co-leader in 1 guild and officer in 4: 3 guilds died, of which all 3 guilds were destoyed by the actual leaders (emptying the guild (and leaving in 2 cases) due to unknown (at least to me) reasons… (each time a fully VI guild with everything unlocked) I saw well over 8 million influence vanish due to people having issues with themselves, the guild or the world….

I left 1 guild due to the leader making decisions I couldn’t agree with (in this specific case with 5 other officers and 15 guildies)

I am still officer in 1 guild, I finally found a Guild in which I trust the people and am glad to be there, This guild has 185 members and of this list 100 are marked away/vacation but ALL have said to return at a given point in time….

Just wait until people come back for HoT, I DO know good friends who did play and left after 12-18 months and will , most likely, NEVER come back (had people in my friendslist who were 15+k AP 2 years ago asked for an exansion then and left….due to EVERYBODY saying this would never happen…), but I do hope some of my friends and guildies form the last year will return.

I’m nearing 19k AP 2 years later, and will likely have 19,5k when HoT arrives….But I just hope friends will return… It’s empty with the old guard in my friends list without even times of last login….

In all cases….. We’ll see… I left one of my old guilds 6 months ago cause there were only 2 officers left, no leaders, no co-leaders, no members, We tried and retained all old people in the hope of thier return, which would seemingly become to be never, now 2 years after the majority left I just hope the guild will reblossom, but I know it is but an illusion.

When i left multiple very active people and the leaders were inactive for1yr +….

It’s how it goes, I guess…

They’ll return to a different interface, different trait system and only marginal changed/ or new content in the living world, Let’s see if HoT can entertain them for more then 1 year.
