These are part of your firewall settings and/or your router settings. I am no netwrok technician I used to be a Database programmer, I know ports and forwarding can be problematic. I also know there used to be a commandline switch for Gw2 to use port 80 (basic internet port, needed for browsing som normally open on all systems)

My initial reaction to your post was Then it’s obviously not your router settings unless your router was patched and or reset by your ISP which would be a fail action on their side if they’d have the old user settings flushed.

And this new information also makes my suggestion less likely. but you cold try the settings, if it works flawless afterwards I’d dive into port settings and firewall rules…

Well, I changed my OS, I had custom firewall settings on windows 7
I remade some of those… as I now migrated to windows 10.

Do you have acces to all neccesary ports?

This was an issue at launch as well. And most people didn’t know Gw2 uses some TCP and UDP ports.

Info should be on the site though… But I can be completely mistaken…

Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and 6600 to be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound.

From memory :
It also used to contain UDP ports but I cannot retrace the specific numbers.

I guess conditions are here to stay… luckily. tweaking them might be an issue…but warrior can stack ~5-10 burning, ranger 10-15, guardian 15-20 engineer 15-25…

Keep it real in case of Warrior..! What you wrote back there doesn’t reflect reality that good, neither puts Warrior’s burn potential inline with the rest…

Warrior has really hard time to stack 10 burns and when he does he can’t keep it for long. When fully traited into LB and 100% burn duration :

Bow #1 : Can apply 2 stacks for 2 secs
Bow #3 : Can apply 3 stacks, when target is at melee range, for 4secs
Bow #F1 : Can stack 4 stacks, if target stays in AoE, for a total 12secs

So, the highest stacks may stay for maybe 2secs at best and they they rapidly fall. This happens only is opponent has both his hands tied…

Was burned the other day by Engi for 5.8k/sec solely from burning for at least 3secs (before cleansing). Not to mention that condi engi has access to more powerful condis (burn, confusion). You may count how many stacks this could be… but was down to 15% health solely from burning.

People tend to complain for Burning because some Engi, Trapper Ranger or Burn Guard heavily burned them. Never seen complains about Warrior burns.

And as I said elsewhere, its not the condis. The skills that apply too many/powerful condis at a fast rate is the 1st issue to be solved…

You are forgetting the fire aura, from leaping into the firefield with sword 2 and cripple (guess most have immo on cripple as well you’ll lock ‘m into place in the fire field and flurry. even if they stunbroke the leap you’ll get them with flurry inside the aoe most of the times. ).

If you’re going to run LB you also be running sword main on your second set (is my best guess?). If you push after your hit (leap in) and they do try to make a stand you’ll stack more then 10 burning…

And as is warrior LB / S/? is reasonably balanced, only the bleeds (maybe the torment) could use a buff, 10 stacks is survivable but good pressure, and I agree warrior burning duration is rather short, but If I see the new elite carrying a torch I think some burning duration might be added soon… as will stacks.

Same conversation, different title. Support is already in the meta.

Let us see the current top META builds.

Staff Elementalist. Support = Blinds, CC, Might, Vulnerability, reflects/projectile destruction, condi removal/heal if needed.

Mace/Torch GS Guardian. Support = Blinds, Heals, Blocks, Reflects, Stability, Mobility, Quickness, CC, Fury.

Sword/Sword Sword/Focus Mesmer. Support = Boon stripping, reflects, Quickness, Slow, condi removal, stealth.

D/D S/P Shortbow Thief. Support = Stealth, Reflects, Blasting, CC, Blinds.

Phalanx Strength Warrior. Support = Banners, Might, Fury, Vulnerability, CC, 150 Additional Power to nearby party members, Instant res banner.

No Dinks That’s called Debuffing and Booning, and some general utility,

Support is more then Booning alone.

Though in PvE healing and boon duration obviously are no longer useable.
(as a WvW player I am very aware of soft and hard CC, debuffs, buffs, reflects and other small things kitten ppl quickness yeah it works wonders (in 25-30 man groups? or in 70 ppl zergs?) .. Also I’d like to see healing buffed, and boon duration could use some love.)

But if you do not like it find another game. with nice trinities and quests… or if you need to live in the fast game try some FPS or RTS….
I play it to spend some time, not to harcore grind and only to be on edge…

Why would it be different… we have 3 or 4 condition builds which can out AoE DOT equal to to warrior DPS, with 1 exception… engineer… but tbh as long as you keep moving only a limited amount of the AoE burning fields will apply if you are forced to pass them.

Cleanses still work.

Things which make DoT dangerous are vulnerability (+25% dng) and might (1500 condition dmg is nice 2250 is better (firefields???)

There is quite a lot to consider… but OP? No not really, dodging and resistance could be allies as would cleaning sigils or changing condi’s to boons….

I’ll be honest I do not run toughness that much on my characters nowadays unless they need to fighting under HUGE pressure. Huge pressure wil be WvW and the few times I run PvP

This means in PvE I Ignore most defensive stats completely.

So in PvE I will rely on:

  • Reflects (ranged attacks will be reflectedi)
  • Blinds/Aegis (1st attack will miss)
  • Stuns/Dazes (no enemy actions)
  • Invulnerability & Dodging , ~1.25 secs of invulnerability
  • Occasional Condiclears (Cleanses)

    and to a lesser extend:
  • Interupts (very tricky but will work sometimes e.g. Igniters: flamethrower infantery)
  • Chills & Slow (lower attack rate)
  • Protection/weaknes (lower enemy dmg)

With practice this will remove all damage sources in PvE (exploration and dungeons/fractals) so you can focus on 100% offensive based stats ( zerk/sinister or any other for that matter) With the introduction of critical hits on world bosses not long ago and the removal of condition caps… I could say htis would be better in hose cases as wel l but it’s too easy. triple trouble and Tequatl have quite a high AOE spawn and tend tofavor some toughness if you are not very experienced,

In the end you’ll notice mosty content in vanilla gw2 can be done with glass (zerker.sinister) gear

Did you ever bother to check how much GPU load you have and how much CPU load?

You’ll find you have 2 or 3 CPU core s working overtime and the rest relaxing and organizing network traffic and background svcs

Also you’ll find your 2 GTX’s slacking at 45-50% each due to the fact there is no more calculations to do as your CPU did those already….

I have 2 GTX 780’s the non Ti version, they max out at 60-65% max, even at the limited time we had 3840*2400 ability, even in WvW with 240 player shooting at eachother as there is no more information to process. even in windowed mode at ultra.

If there is more then that I just DC as the network cannot handle the data stream neccesary.. (yes that couple a hundred kb/s) it is not MY problem as I have a 120 Mbit line….. it is the games problem…together with the 80-90+% CPU load on 2 of my 6 HT-ed cores.

only problems I had was the GPU’s falling asleep. sometimes they just downthrottled and went to PCI-E v 1.1 instead of the PCI-E v3.0 I normally force ’m on, it was due to energy efficient use, I just have ’m on full burn constantly (still only 60 % though

If you run WvW I’d suggest you run toughness.

This as it will aid in removing dmg from all PHYSICAL DMG. condition dmg ignores toughness, and armro for that matter COMPLETLY…

To compensate for condition dmg you will need condition removal this can be self or aoe or through combos’s

Healing is at present the most useless stat in the game
This as healing only has a very small influence on heals

(About 50-80% of heals is non healing power related and only based on a fixed numer, completely destroying the value of healing power.)

Also due to a lot of healing being only on #6 skill you have cooldowns to consider. making healing in practice a garbage stat.

Healing will affect lifesteal, heals and regens and water&blasts… but sometimes it will only scale as low as 4%, so for 100 healing in Attributes you will only see 4 healthpoints added…
lowest scalers are 0.33 and highest is 1.25…. highest maximum healing is aroun 2200 on guardian… levaing you with a maximum added heal fo ~2750.. on the highest modifier, while the specific healing skill will do 8250 healing as base heal.
so with 2200 healing you will gain 11000 health with 0 healing you’ll gain 8250.

putting those 2000 points in thoughness will reduce ALL incoming dmg by almost 45%… which can be a couple of thousand points per hit…

A quick-and-dirty healing power fix

Not making the vitality and healing stack together would be the answer then, as combining would both sustain the healer with it’s rediculous amount of HP and therefore create a potential invincible char.


I still like healing to be buffed, but I stick to my suggestion:

  • nerf base heal (50-70% of present)
  • buff healing multipliers on ALL healing related things
    (vampirics/ lifesteals/heals/regen/ and so on (300-500%)
  • add vitaility as a influence in the overall formula

Now:

HEAL = BASE heal + (“healing scaler” x Healing power)

This formula consists of:

BASE heal being a fixed amount of healing you’ll always get this varies from 20 to 8250 ingame…..

“healing scaler” is the modifier most healing skills get to balance them, in practice these range from:
0.04 ( 1 health for every 25 healing power, with max healing power 88 points) to
1.25 ( 5 health for every 4 healing power, with max healing power maximum 2750)

Healing Power being the old name for the present Healing stat. This will range from 0 (no healing whatsoever) to about 2200 on full clerics guardians with runes of the monk (or other healing runes, healing food and utility and fuly stacked sigil of life (stacking sigil for healing power)


My suggestion

  • Base heal (50-75% of present value)
  • Healing scaler (300-500% of present value)
  • Vitality will buff total healed amount by 1% for every 50 (or maybe 100) points (this will need to be tweaked) above 1000 OF THE RECEIVER ! (you’ll get a bit more HP if you have a huge amount of VITALITY in your build!)

(for 1% additional healing effectiveness per 50 vitaility)
HEAL = (BASE heal + (“healing scaler” x healing power)) x (1 + ((vitality-1000) / 5000))

(this works out to a little added heal based on vitality)
(read:
~15% for celestial,
~20% for minor vitality
~40-50% for max vitality.

If total healing without vitality modification was 5000 points it would end up being:
~ 5750 for celestial vitality
~ 6000 points for minor vitality
~ 7000-7500 for max vitality.

so your sentinels warrior would get 25% free bonus / heal compared to a zerk…


ADDITIONALLY
Also I’d like to see boon duration sale for 2.5% for every 100 points of healing.

BOON Duration = (Healing/100) x 2.5
(celestial(~700 healing) ~20% boon duration)
(minor healing(~1000 healing) ~25% boon duration)
(major healing(~1400 healing) ~35% boon duation)
(max healing (~2200 healing) ~55% boon duation)


This would still leave every stat as is, As ALL people state HEALING is only used when:

  1. all active defences are used up, (else no dmg would be taken)
  2. all dodges are used up, (else no dmg would be taken)
  3. party has been hit and is suffering (with no dmg you wouldn’t heal now or would you?)

My changes would add 3 things:

  • HEALING will now be beneficial to your build and add a DECENT amount of healing
  • Actual health restored will be increased slightly if you invested a lot in VITALITY
  • boon duration would also scale from HEALING making healing a true support stat

So when the people cannot hack it anymore you could call for a heal or hit #6:
most base heals ingame are 1000-8000 base at this moment. Having these base heals nerfed by ~33% would leave 667 to 5333 points which would not be a HUGE problem, but scaling would improve for the people who have a high vitality from STATS (not the basic HP bonus from necro’s, and warriors which isn’t recognisable by stats)
and if 1 person invested in healing and has AOE heals (S)He would add a lot to the party healing. allowing the #6 to be used for buffs from runes or at will while you can depend on 1 person running a slightly off meta build. (Zealot DPS/support anybody?)


EDIT: corrected an error in the formulae

  • Numbers are a suggestion but as it is present numbers allow for heals to be
    8000+ base healing and an added 2700 points from fully specialized characters. I like to see the scalable part be something worthwhile… My suggestion as above will change this to 5333 and 6750 points, maybe even a bit more if the character recieving has vitality as stat. and an added boon duarion for the person who invested in healing.*

the problem isn’t the fact these classes are providing lower DPS (though most people cannot seem to look beyond the elemental Metabattle builds…)

I really wonder how it would be with a sinister Guard S/T & GS, sinister trapper ranger (A/T) an elementalist (or 2) and a warrior (or a sinister Engineer)?

100% 25 Stacks might-uptime – Warrior
Mini-timewarp, Reflection and Stability for as long as the fight takes – Guardian
Stealth, Defiance-stripping and good Vulnerability-upkeep – Thief
100% Fury-uptime, perma-fire-field, Great aoe-damage, aoe-blind or vuln – 2xEle

Stealth, portals, reflects and ofc time warp – Mesmer (can replace Thief)
Tons of vuln, Great dps and combo-fields – Engi (can replace 1 Ele)

Can’t argue with much of this But it’s way lacking in details

A pet that most people don’t seem capable of controlling and the tendency to stay out of range for all group-buffs – Ranger
Ok, let’s assume the Ranger knows what he does: 7.5% extra group-dps from fs and some extra precision – Ranger

Ranger can swap pets bringing a free CHOOSABLE utility or buff on the pet. The fact some people only have bear and stalker doens’t mean there is nothing more.
The only time pets are in the way is when the ranger pulls, and the person is ignorent Can provide 20 vulnerability in 3 seconds,
has a water field,
can be used to provide fury, and swiftness,
can res ppl who are downed while maintaining DPS (search and rescue trait if needed),
pet can be used to solo the door at cof1 in a 4 man party.
and spotter and the spirit… yes that 2…

Some vuln and boon-stripping (which is only useful in some niche-situations) – Necro

Necro:
Wells: boonstripping , booning through cleansing, AOE blind 4 times protection, AOE healing…
Some CC, no more bleeding out, AoE vampiric to compensated for healthloss in groups allowing longer +90% health if needed,
chills and weakness to reduce enemy DPS.
and some damage…

Sadly Ranger and Necro don’t really bring anything to the table that another class can’t do better.

Maybe, but they do bring a unique package….. and they have their merits as well..

Being elitist in PvE is stupid stuff, there are no leaderboards and no ‘’Best Player in the World’‘, if you wanna be an Elitist, go do some high level PvP where you can play with the best players, because that doesn’t exist in any PvE game or content, there are good players but no best players…

The reason I play meta is because I want fast runs is so I can get all the available rewards in as little time as possible. Quite a few players have this mindset, but not all are as accommodating as I am of non-meta players.

Plus not everyone likes PvP. You’re being very closedminded. We’re aware there is no “best player in the world”. We do it because we want fast and efficient runs. We know that classes x, y, and z are the best at it, so we take those.

I’ll be brief I have 3 rangers and 3 warriors, I ignore lvl 80 zerk meta groups even though my 3 necro’s are decked out in ascended gear, and same for my 3 rangers.

I know how to play PVE necro, and ranger,I also play “zerk meta” ranger, but It is no use to fight the zerk “I know it all and you know nothing brigade”. I use food, dungeon sets, and so on.
I became lvl 40+ fractals before the fractal reset with ranger and necro…
It might not do as much dmg (hmm 5k dmg with a LB pull shot?), but in dungeons where I see stacking sigils on zerk meta’s and fire sigils aoe aggroing stuf I sometimes wonder why….

Why can’t people accept there are idiots who use LB 4 in dungeons or fears as a necro.
I use fears as well and use them instead of pulls or pushes (just fear ‘m into the wall….) or a LB #4 if my zerk meta party is again a set wannabees.
Wannabees with no food, no utility, no sigils and just a big mouth, trying to copy the illusions from metabattle and not having the 10 gold for a dungeon set of weapons. Pets are usefull if used correct, minions are horrid, in a big part of the game, but necro will be an addition to your game if it’s played well

Having ascended armor and a copied build doesn’t make you a good player. remember this.

AC Exploit

Im my mind a few options appear.

Make a ballista and shoot it while it’s being build? Yes there are corners where you cannot hit them I know. That’s also the experience and skill of the commanders/ players…

If they put it close to the wall you should be able to hit it with normal AOE’s, and if you’re not completely glass you could hit and susain yourself enough to kill it

You could disable it? get 20 supply on you and you could disable twice, while calling the zerg/ defsquad… If you have no other players, you should understand you are in a bad spot if you are alone…

Making all siege unhittable will make for 6 or 8 ac’s above each door again not allowing any caps in the last 6 days of play and or have people just treb the map to their color. it will make the game just waiting till the trebs killed the wall and moving in. completely destroying any PvP involvement, as defenders would most likely give up when the wall goes down.

I do not consider it an exploit tbh. I have done a lot of scouting and scouting ONLY works when the supports comes running, from your map, some maps or all maps depending on the importance of the guarded object this needs to be communicated well.

Siege is a deterrant, and a time waster… you try to make it soi they need to spend time to clean it, so your zerg has more time. If the defending zerg is there at a fully sieged up towerr/keep/castle it will really help, and the attacking AC’s wil be way to busy just to kill siege around the walls.. also showing 1 man defending is important for the warning, but no longer enough for a complete defence.

You can buy charged ambrite at the BL TP.. completly ignoring the timegate. also you’only need 6 for and armor vs 30 for celestial so do not worry, oh btw, you cannot but those for celestial from the tp.

I can safely say there are many support options…

Water elemetalist (healer)
Guardian (DPS, or CC or whatever you can think of tbh)
Shout heal warrior can work but is generally a WvW build
Mesmer finds utility in Timewarp and feedbacks or invisibility
Thieves are better in invisibility then mesmers.
Engineers have most if not all combo fields and a lot of blasts. but mastering it can be a bit tricky
Rangers have a lot of acces to swiftness and regens..
Necro tends to lack a bit though I persoally like a transfusion build… you could pick up some regens.

Levels do not change, so the gear is never invalidated
But due to nerfs rare gear which was once enough to run most dungeons is now ~10 % weaker compared to the games launch (ferocity nerf, critical chance nerf, scaling nerf…)~effectively lowering all tiers of gear … or intensifying the crafting process, however you look at it..

Is the actual effects from the now compensated values as compared to the stats at launch (as people used then) are the same +30% from the stat compensation from the 23 june patch…(which was a nerf to certain stats as well (healing, and the 2 durations have been affected negatively…)

Ascended made players OP when it was first released, this has been patched…
So it looks the same stats look 30% bettter since launch but almost all their effects have been reduced… due to this having place on all stats you can not say things were invalidated, but you can safely say all tiers have been downscaled 1 level.

scaling should be improved, base heal should be lowered and
at 1000 vitality you recieve the normal healing MODIFIED by additional vitality, could add 2% effectivenes per 100 vitality on receiver only..
at max vitality it would add 36% to the normal heal..

I’d like base healing nerfed, values around 65% of their original values would be perfect, HEAL Scaling should be tripled minimum…
at 1000 vitality you recieve the normal healing above 1000 vitality MODIFIED by additional vitality ( actual-1000) , could add 2% effectivenes per 100 vitality on receiver only..
boon duration should be scaled from healing around 3% PER 100 HEALING…

I think we should be on to someting……

In case people like your suggestion better, remove heal scaling as is and:
add flat multipliers on healing… well would be my second option but I would like 1% for every 18/36 healing, so at 1800 I’d want 100% or 50% in this case… not 18% lol…. 18% is a waste of stats STILL!

This should extend to lifedrains and vampirics.
in this case I still want healing power to influence boon duration : boon duration should be scaled from healing around 3% PER 100 HEALING…

and in all cases: no combining of stats.

Absolutely not. They are intentionally on par with the highest stats, they are purely for skins, animations and changeable stats on the fly. That makes them a luxury, not an essential gain, which they would be if stats increased.

To give them increased stats would go against their design and upset an enormous number of people who came to GW2 to avoid stat treadmills. After the uproar caused by Ascended, the game does not need more treadmills

I would hardly call Ascended a treadmill, its one tier gear. I really hate when people use the term “treadmill” out of context.

But on topic, as someone who has crafted more then 4 legendaries, no, the stats do not need to be any higher then ascended gear.

Understand: this game was released with EXOTIC being top tier… the fact most begun with rare armor and slowly adapted to exotic which made everythung faceroll caused some nerfs.. Even legendaries had exotic values as main stats…. no AR no nothing

then people said well exotic is SO EASY to get can’t we farm for an higher tier,

It happened, ascended jewelry was released with fractals…
After the jewelry followed weapons and soon later armor, Legendary stats were improved with the promise they’d always be comparable to the top stat available in the game, which would be ascended

The introduction of ascended made a lot of people happy they could make a ‘end game armor" and made many more people upset as this was to be a game of “horizontal” progression, so |A-net statedf it wouldn’t launch any new tiers with stat values above ascended….

Now legendary backs are coming to us, I’d expect legendary trinkets as well, the stats will be selectable but level comparable to ascended…. why? see bold part

In the future I’d expect:

  • ascended & legendary foods ?
  • legendary armor (e.g. ascneded level; selectable stats)
  • legendary trinkets, ( back has been anounced)

most of this gear is part of a gear treadmill especially if you’ve been playing since head start. Though in no way as bad as most other (MMO)RPG’s

During the first months requirements (gear expected in AC)

was rare armor & weapon with runes, and preferably exotic trinkets.
If you had no runes Ruby orbs were no problem

This changed to Exotic only, and gear checks for exotic, the fact people ran ruby orbs was tolerated less and less.

This changed into gear checks for ZERK ruby orbs were now and obscure part of the playerbase …

This changed into gear checks for “Meta” with ascneded trinkets and weapon preferably and in some cases even asc armor….

As legendary armor and trinkets wil add no stats it will likely shift to the previous step ncluding the armor being mandatory in 1 yr, maybe 18 months.

This requirement is in the end rediculous as armor and stats are being downscaled ANYWAYS leaving you with a cap comparable to rare armor with lvl 80 runes and lvl 80 trinkets downscaled to the correct level values in AC… rendering everything above exotic mostly a waste of time.

Still gear checks are bing performed, mostly to show people are above others.

As it is now
I have 2 characters with full ascneded armor, 1 has 2 full armors
I have 4 characters with 2 or more ascended armor pieces
I have 1 character with 1 ascended armor piece
I have 13 characters with full ascended weapons (all weapons for the main sets) sometimes secondary weapons are stille Exotic
I have 15 characters with 1 or more sets of jewelry and trinkets I also have 15 ascneded back items….
only 14 use their ascened as theirmain treinket sets (I have 1 character with exotic zealot trinkets due to the fact I still cannot buy asnceded ones.)
I expect some trinkets to trinkle down to the unfortunates not having trinkets… or armor…. but I’m not working fanatically to get legendaries as is. maybe in the future…

I do not need mandatory stat change to restart on soon to be 17 alts.

They cost this mutch as they were realease with the halloween event ~2.5 yrs ago and supplies are running out. With dwindling numbers come bigger pricetags…

I used to have the heavy shoulders and accidentally transmuted over them I though I’d buy another one but they were 40 gold at the time and I found it too much….

No, underwater is not happening. Waste of resources from a development standpoint. Theres WAY WAY WAY more critical things devs should be working on rather than dead content.

Best case scenario is they add a world boss for underwater… but thats lol, lame. It will be zerged and you just spam autoattack and win, like all the other worldbosses.

Underwater combat… like i don’t get it honestly, what makes you buy the game for underwater combat lol….. all you literally do is stay in the water and spam your skills/cooldowns… theres no skill or strategy compared to land combat…underwater just sit in the water and just spam skills and swap weapons and continue spamming.

Theres no might stacking, no rotations of any kind, no need to properly time dodges/blinds/CC, etc etc. its as simple as you get. go underwater, target enemy, spam every skill off cooldown and wait for enemy to die. This will not change because it doesn’t deserve to be changed. Theres more important things to do for developers on the land, not try to make spongebob wars 2.

You seem a dedicated member of this community, why would you want to see underwater combat fade instead of it being revamped…. When looking at underwater content it is a bit limited in weapons, we could get knives (daggers) and magical weapons functioning without real problems…

It woud be, while A-net could get the spear out of the water the dagger could go into the water. and allow for some weapons to be used on land and in water.

I had over 2300 in my wallet, now I have lost some… i’m at 1823 now, biggest problem seems to be they aren’t given on each full xp bar nowadays.. I used up 500 in a month, and i didn’t make a legendary…, ( changed 10+ ascecndeds 100, crafted 10 ascendeds) that’s 300+ shards…

you could play healer and bunker, but you’ll be hampered in all single player content due to your horrendous dps there are video’s of single player dungeon path solo’s of people running nomads/clerics…. they run dungeon path in 90+ minutes while dps classes will solo dungeon in 25-45 minutes…

second problem is with the healing, healing as it stands now is a nearly useless stat as scaling with healing is not worthwhile… as such healers cannot exist as in other games.
there is a faction of people asking for changing of healing as it is implemented at this moment.

Suggestions range from just
boosting the effects of healing (scale improvement above 4 times (creating healers), to reducing base heal and slightly boosting the scaling (2.5-4 times)
and /or having boon duraton scale from healing…

In mind come:

  • statcombo introductions (apothecary,celestial, sinister, nomad, and so on)
  • condition rework
  • trait rework(s)
  • the ferocity nerf
  • ascended
  • changing ascended statcombo’s

Loking at this: condition dmg has been reworked from useless to usefull , now it’s time for healing, and I personally still prefer a nerf of al base healing (60-65% of original and a factor 3(,4?, 5 even?) to healing scaling… including vampirics and siphons.) it would still allow all combat based upon dodges aegis, blind and other control and reflects, it would just reduce base healing by 35%

It will not make healers mandatory but it will improve the value of healing as a attibute.

Since there is no trinity, there are no healers.

Wrong IMHO, since there is no trinity we are ALL healers. Though we do not spec anything in HEALING as attribute as it isn’t rewarding in the first place,


You can sacrifice 931 or 1381 points from your build into helaing gaining
a maximum of 1200-1750 added health on each heal.
provided it is maxed out and the healing scaler is at 1.25
(only 1 skill has a higher scaling…1.33)

50 %+ of the healings are below 0.50 (50 pts/100)

465 healing (931 healing powr) and 690 healing (1381 healing)

some heals are as low as 0.04 – 0.033 (4/pt/100, 3 pt /100) ~35 , 50 healing…

  • celestial is a nice set on some proffesions,
  • it works nice
  • but the 639 max stats is peanuts compared to 981 from minor and 1381 from major

then again looking further:
CELESTIAL/DIVINITY CAN PROVIDE:
Base: 639 * 7 = 4473 Stat pts (celestial armor/trinkets /weapons) ( + 35% vs 3st. armor)
+ 78*7 = 5019 (runes of divinity) ( + 39% vs 3 st with 2st runes)
+ 45*7 = 5334 (dragons revelry starcake) ( + 41 % vs 3st w 2 st runes and food)
sharps will add 176 power ( + 76% vs sharps on zerk)

vs

ZERK/PACK CAN PROVIDE:
Base: 961 * 2 + 1381 = 3303 stat pts. (zerk armor/trinkets /weapons)
+ 175 + 125 = 3603 (runes of the pack)
+ 100 + 70 = 3773 plate of truffle steak
sharps will add 100 power

This is the comparison in stat points… Also a zerker build will gain a flat 100 power from sharps a celestial build using this setup will gain 176 points…

Final comparison for my selected options

  • pwr 1938 vs 2656 ( -718 ) ( might will add 750 max )
  • prc 1762 vs 2156 ( -394 ) ( 40% vs ~58%) (fury will add 20%)
  • fer 762 vs 961 ( -199 )
  • cnd 762 vs 0 ( +762 ) ( might will add 750 max )
  • thg 1762 vs 1000 ( +762 )
  • vit 1762 vs 1000 ( +762 ) ( + 7620 hp)
  • hlg 762 vs 0 ( +762 )

stat, celestial, zerk (celestial compared to zerk)
As such is the things. Maybe you will hit harder, celestial will be tougher, have more HP (7620 HP) have a decent healing , a basic condition dmg (break even was at ~700 points, so it is not a ‘nerfed’ variant) and still has a 45% crtitical and + 190% critical dmg, only place where you lose a bit is on pure power, BUT if you might stack well you will perform as any build while being way tougher as long as they do not stack might. also some dmg could come from utility options providing conditions… else these conditions would be wasted.

(so celestial with might will do the same damage as zerk without.)
(so zerk with might will do the same condition dmg as celestail without)


While celestial might be very strong on elementalist;
OTHER proffesions having good uses for celestial would be :

guardian, ranger, necro, elemetalist, mesmer, and engineer as is. warrior tends to work beter imho with 3 stat, thief the same as they tend to rely a lot on full dmage trough DPS spikes.

Now you think about it…
It will not allow for speedclears in dungeons, but you’ll never wipe again. the fact it’s resilient vs dps and dot, can use both DOT and DPS and has buffed healing makes it suited for nearly anything as long as you do not consider rushing a neccesity…


1 distinct problem is most condition weapons scale bad to truly horrendous with power and power weapons seldomly do enough conditions to make use of them… with regard to condition dmg… but if you can find loops you’ll be golden. Axe for ranger, Sword/sword for warrior, Just firefields for gurdian S/T and GS, Elemetalist will scale with fire and earth, mesmer will benefit with staff and scepter and any offhand.
engineer will have a lot of synerges with grenades and te gasgun… in all cases builds are very well possible and VERY DIFFERENT from META. This as meta is limited and mostly applicable to DPS, sometimes you can gain intimate knowledge from DOT (condi PvP builds) lastly A buff to precision and Might stacking (sigil of strength) and or boon duration, are very usefull..

You can learn a craft and ;level it to max, get a second,and if you pay for it a 3rd and a 4th, and If you want to use a different craft you can learn another one, while deactivating one of your previous 2,3,4 repectively.

If you want to reuse this craft then speak with a master crafter and for a modest fee you’ll have acces to all the knowledge you gained before.

To completely forget would only suit people who level through crafting and wouldn’t be wise IMHO.

I have tried condi mesmer, condimancer condi ranger and condiwarrior, they all fari pretty well especially build sinister, but they are glas, and ’ll die as easy as zerks though thy havbe their peaks a but later with regard fo full condition outputs.. While ranger is extremely powerfull using bonfire and flametrap it does not have perma burns, however it does stack 15 stacks of burning without whirls and has a double fire field.
mesmer can be relatively weak, though when condi wit interupts it is able to do a lot of confusion, necro will shine in a party with the 2 aforementioned using well of corruption, terror and EPIDEMIC… S/S warrior can stack 33 bleeds , with some burning and buff options (power and condition based) in the end you only need a condition guuardian for the enourmous burning stacks and the easy acces to whirls.

Berserker vs Condis

The condi patch whos aim was to make condis good in PVE overall failed. There are only 3 out of 8 professions that perform decent, thats engi, guard, ele. Thats it. Rest of it is utter complete and useless crap when compared to the zerk meta. And even the 3 that perform decent still are not on par.

Condi necros are still at major disadvantage, condi mesmers are worse off then necros but have better power / utility build options. The 2 professions that suffered the most, still do so.

Good luck joining a meta group on your condi mes or condi necro, see how fast you get kicked, unless you personally know them in which case you’ll bog them down a little as they perform a “sympathy carry” for you.

You are forgetting ranger, with bonfire and flametrap they can still build 12-14 stacks of burning, stack poison and bleed (10-15), pet can have confusion/ bleeds/poison and so on…, with selfstacked 10-25 might. (runes of aristocracy, corruption and bursting?) in combat ~2500 power 2500 condition dmg. based upon sinister… with 50% duration, +20% dmg from bleeds and +33% from poison.

Good stacking of conidtion builds will probably be very powerfull as well. but it is noticable mostly on the (end)boss(es).. not the things in between, and can be problematic when needing to kill objects. Saying zerk is the only way is an illusion.
Skipping works the same ….

Yes I could kill all mopbs in pve with just 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1

I also can use 0(entangle) ,5(bonfire),7(flametrap),8(poison trap) and watch the group of 5 pulled in and dying extremely fast in the ball of fire I created.

Or use 4 (focus line),4(focus pull), 5 (warden),`,5(swordsman), 2…. well they’re dead as well, mesmer style instead of tranger as above… Could pop’m (F1) as well.

it is more pelasant then standing there 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 until it dies…

Mybe you lag, Hope you are on a wire… All people playing through wireless should check even if they have 8 bands why wireless bands get congested. especially in urban areas. I still go by with 20-35 ping, maybe 50 in weekends. skill lag, no normally not.

I welcome new playes, they pay for the maintainance of servers and the continued play , I do not mind you voicing your opinion either. But saying you notice it, doesn’t mean it’s A-Nets doing.

In huge Zrg vs Zrg battles My 32 Gb ram, 2 GTX 780 with OC-ed processor FPS dives into tyhe low double digits… (had 12 with 240 ppl fighting eachother. with more flashes on screen then I could register…) In the end people nootice a bit of lag and start spamming buttons and the client and the server get flooded. in those 40/s clicks/ tick / player (10k+ request/sec, actual combat is made and info needs to be send, and checked….) it slows… I’ll live… most of the time.

I’ll bre frank, I have 17 lvl 80’s I did map completion on 9. I do hearts when I’m waiting for a world boss or when helping opther players, I do not actively seek tem out anymore…

I like most hearts, but some I really really hate… after 9 times most at least 10 or more tbh I can safely say some are worth doing some are realy easy to do in way A but will take forever killing or knocking stuff over or cleaning or whatever sec0ondary option you have. it is sometimes a difference between 3-5 mintes and a long time.

With regard to flippers, I know people who have or had over 150.000 gold in the past, I know people who could debalance markets when they wanted cash, cause they could buy up the WHOL supply for “rare” or better items and put m back a dozen silvers (or sometimes 100’s of gold higher.

To discourage the poeple contnuing this stuf was hidden behind gated walls…

People can buy EVERYTHING. but some can buy ALL of EVERYTHING.

To make sure this is limited some stuff was restricted, either behind a play wall (sinister, zealot nomads gear), a timegate (celestial) ascneded crafting mats (well now supply is ok, but when people started making asc. paying 50 gold for 1 damask was normal…

rule of thumb

heavy class : charr or norn
medium class : humans or sylvaries
light class : asuras or humans or sylvaries

Let’s see:
I have 5 Norns:
warrior, warrior, ranger, engineer and mesmer
I have 4 humans
guardian, ele, ele and necro
I have 5 Sylvari
guardian, ranger, thief, mesmer , necromancer
I have 3 Charr
warrior, ranger, necromancer

i think any class can be anything, ecept for Asura, they are all trolling wanabee mice. And even being this they loose from skritt IMHO ….

People do not mind pets or minions as long as the owner handles them well, pet on pasive when pulling, as for minions make ’m dead first (swap skill, then swap back again.) so they do not botch the pull and (AT LEAST A BIG PART OPF THE DURATION) of the might stack by fighting with the target instead of actually doing what you set out to do.

Same with running, if you do something and you pet goes into combat, you will slow down, and the aggro often will be a problem for people behind you. If people actually come back for you to res…. well…

Rangers will always have pets
Necro’s only rarely use minions in dungeons due to them being erratic and their clumsy control…

Pets and minions will no longer draw aggro, which was a huge problem before… The only way to draw aggro now with a pet is select a target and press f1, and to pull you press f3 directly after the first hit.

If people do not use their pets well it seems they are INexperienced at the class and especially in l80 EXP , Zerk and Meta parties you’ll get a bit/some/a lot of grief and or kicks, in speedruns you are instantly kicked without warning. If you do make problems for a party you can expect the mark of shame (being targeted.) Which also is a prelude to a kick being very close.

P.S. I seldomly kick for people messing up stuff with their pets, I’ll do the agrro and pulls myself and leave at the end of the run.

No not really as I like the differences in skins for the classes (mybe with the exception of the near mandatory longcoat for mediums…

The fact it’s class bound does give me the feeling they are something different…

I remember the release of the Noble Count(ess) outfit and 70% of the population wearing it… it was horrendous. No more personality to any character or class…

You do need people on your server to defend though…

I have a t6 server with 10 -15 ppl on 3 BL’s and EBG combined… during the day. All things will be t3 when you get there. It will be very slow. rewards would need to rise tremendously to compensate for this pace…

Taking 1 objective per 10-15 minutes will be so unrewarding. It will net you 1 champ bag… Comparing it to PvE … You’d have a full dungeon path… being 3-5 boxes and a 1.26 gold…

Well I got into it it’s now almost 10 hours after the starting of the BL event and we were on the map with only a few.


  • We took a keep with no resistance with 2 golems and 1 flameram, it cost way too long, almost a dozen minutes. We were about 7 people…. I play t6 nowadays and we have 2 to 3 people during the weekday/border (when lucky). With these times and needing to run from place to place it will mean once we capped 2 things all others are t3, guaranteed… Slowing things down to a horrid grind, and as sch this map will not be inbteresting to play.
  • Single player camp capping is way more difficult then capping a camp in a border as is now. leaving only shrines and sentries… which is not rewarding, nor gives an advantage to tick. Dolly huntying is nearly impossible as they run like they are being tailed by all six dragons…
  • I see we need shrines and such, but I cannot go and cap 3 shrines and run into a keep and trust those to stay mine. and if poeple retake them taking them is possible but not rewarding
  • Things like golems which are very usefull in roaming ,are to run FOREVER… I was running for 5 minutes.. and I was spotted. You cannot do anything, only backtrack, I got killed for 75k points without being able to hit the attacker once. there is no escape. It will mean you have wasted a lot of time, gold for siege and no rewards.
  • Keeping control over the keeps on 3 borders is important, but you cnnot run form other maps leaving our server with 50-80 WvW players disadvantaged compared to other more manned servers. We narrowly maintain our position in borderlands now by porting in people if possible or running, but the distance is now so big it would be a failed effort from the start.
  • Our server has no people to defend at least 20 hours a day… So this is beautiful, but useless for t6 as it is now
  • You will (probably) never see the attackers. especially on servers with lower amounts of players, So you’d either you put a tail on groups found or you NEED to karma train, which is useless due to the distances and the rediculous speed of upgrades.
  • 3 necro’s could defend all small elevated passages and ridges, some paths are more like JP’s… This also shows an inherent weakness of the map. You need to move and move and move… so in the end it’s about groups countering groups, if a server notices it has superior number spliting up will make them take the whole map and there is NOTHING you can do, itt’ll be abit like EotM ice station: one necro can kill zergs.

On the bright side:

  • In all it’s beautiful, I get solid 70+ FPS running through the BL on high settings. But I have no experience whatsoever with zergs or zergs vs zergs as there were none, I did 1 5 vs 8 battle. we won… we took a camp a keep and a control point. And I was in for 45 minutes. In this time I should be able to flip most of the map… this will never be possible.
  • If we get in a Mesmer we will get it back without real problems. Chances they’ll be found are negligable, maybe we should change all players on our server to mesmers. On the other side we would never find an enemy mesmer, leading to mesmer vs mesmer battles for the keep sand towers.
  • I love the new siege designs, I do not like the stealth fields… The lava defence looks nice, but it’s unbreakable, it should have timer as well, (Righteous Indignation ) like all bosses, so it cannot be capped for 5 (maybe 10) minutes.
  • We could implemenmt EotM, Desert and normal BL for the 3 borders so we have a normal experience (present BL), a karma train (EotM) and a semi static map (Desert)… We could change Edge of the Mists to randomize 1 of these 3 maps as well.
    Else it will be the end for non WvW focussed servers (say t4 and down)

My conclusion:

I doubt this map would be usefull on low tier servers, unless they have a huge amount of players.. Quantity will prevail over quality in any case.

Even though it’s beautiful and it has a lot of mechanics and is innovative. The map feels and plays way to slow and sluggish to play due to it’s HUGE size for small groups and low tier guild groups.
How powerfull and experienced they may be… You’d never be able to defend. You’d be running after the facts the whole time…

I’d prefer the old borderlands in all scenario’s, except maybe using the EotM and the Desert, This might be nice as a replacement for EBG, but if it would come to a choice I’d prefer the old EBG…..

I’m just going to bed, I’m to tired to be mad. 01:00 now, @ #60…
I do not mind waiting for a beta or a stress test, but I wan to see something…
I have a wife and 2 little children, I’m disabled. I need to sleep, tomorrow all 3 will ask me to be there again.

In the end a waste of my PC being on all night, downloading 25 Gigs, for nothing, had a nice chat with my guildies who were also invited who also left around this time 2 got in,12 were outside waiting. Q varying form 25 to 160+

Like I stated in another thread I’ll see it when it’s done.
