A few remarks:

1 Use food and utility

(example even if it’s lvl 0 it will gave +10% Experience from KILLS each (stacking), with halloween arriving you could check if you could get some Candy corn Icecream (prices should drop during the event) whcih gives +15% experience from kills
Combined with sharpining stones (rough sharpening stones cost a few copper) this will give you 25% added experience, STACKING with the other boosters

2 If you see banners just click them , all banners are nice and it’s just a matter of pressing F to get a few or a lot of buffs. buffs range from 5% added XP to 15% and many more.

3 All things in this game give experience:

  • Events/Hearts Events have priority, they are temporary, you sometimes fill a heart while doing an event, and sometimes even more.
  • Bosses Yes… Minor bosses (vets/champs) and Big bosses, a.k.a World bosses all give XP, and possibly good drops.
  • Mining/chopping/harvesting (for either cash OR crafting)
  • Crafting (getiing your crafting level up for any crafting proffession gives ~7 levels to 400, and 10 level for 500 while this is expensive it can be very beneficial in combination with harvesting and salvaging
  • Exploring (all things you find give XP, waypoints, points of interest, hero points, new map regions, completing a map (getting 100% also gives added Xp and some free drops)
  • Dungeons (from lvl 30 you can do they first lvl 30 story dungeon, from lvl 35 Explorable dungeons, these while harder will pay good money if you can find a group, and will give you .75 of a levels’ worth of XP)
  • PvP/WvW If you like it….
  • Killing (well most things except for critters. Enemies whcih have been alive longer on the map give MORE BONUS XP. So in area’s where critters are harvested you will not get much XP, but sometimes it can be worthwhile to just kill the yellow creatures as most people ignore them. sometimes the bonus XP is 150% of the normal XP… ending you with 2.5 times the base XP before boosters and food and all.
  • Story:

4: DO STORY

Just as it says, it will give good XP, good armor pieces and quite some levels. also it will enhance your knowledge of the gw2 lore.

TIP 1
MAKE SURE to get WEAPONS, ARMOR and PREFERABLY TRINKETS FOR YOUR LEVEL, and preferably trinkets and runes/gems on your armor and trinkets, and buy minor sigils for your weapons… A minor sigil of bloodlust can help a lot… as will some other sigils (minor fire/air) also make sure you buy some new ones for armor if they do not salvage off, and at lvl 39 you can start buying Major runes and sigils which will be a big improvement the investment is minor but will save you a lot of problems… Invest in power as much as possible when leveling , if you find it heard to stay alive make sure you have a ranged and a melee weapon, and/or invest in some TOUGHNESS

Downscaling is a nice mechanic, unfortunately it will make you very weak as you still tend to have lower level armor and gear, which will be underpowered and give underpowered stats after downscaling, making you squishy.

TIP 2
Make sure you focus on power builds when you begin…
If you want a condi build, no problem, but start your leveling as a powerbuild until you are in RARE or better armor… (lvl 35+, preferably 39+) conditions at the low levels do a tiny bit of damage, power will be way faster. Also do not buy rare armor… you’ll get better…

Tip 3
at level 5 you can get blue gear (fine)
at level 15 you can get green gear (masterwork)
at level 25 you can get gear with dual stats
at level 35 you can get yellow gear (rare)
at level 39 you can get major runes and sigils (only on lvl 39 and higher gear!)
at level 55 you can get gear with triple stats
at level 60 you can get exotic runes and sigils (only on lvl 60 and higher gear!)
at level 63 you can get orange gear (Exotic)
at level 80 you can get pink and purple gear Ancended and Legendary gear….
All this gear comes with a lot of different stats and value.

Last remarks:
- You might want to use your tomes of knowledge if you do not know how to level up. BUT will make yourself lost in lower level area’s while you start downscaling….
- Do not enter area’s higher then 7 levels above your present level… 2 or 3 is doable 4 or 5 is not so fun and 7+ is horrid.
- Make sure you focus on either power (especially at the start), or on condition dmg. Do not do both before you understand the consequences. Do not mix up stuff with all kinds of stats. You will survive without healing, without vitality and p[orbably also without toughness as long as you stay alert. If you have probelms to stay alive you can invest in some toughness, ignore vitality and healing. At least until you are lvl 80 and you make yourself a plan what you will be, or not be

Just do what you like. Do not feel forced to do whatever everyone want’s trying out stuff for yourself is the only freedom you have, and you will learn by making mistakes

Condition Duration over 100%?

Traits tend to change the tooltip making the base duration longer, which can be extended by food/runes/sigils and so on

So you do not change the “% duration” with the trait but the base condition duration BEFORE the calculation….

This has been the case with lingerring curse (necro) since launch and is changing to be the same on other traits improving durations.

CIVILISED CREATURES still do not ride Animals.

Mordrem are hardly civilised… IMHO. If you could see any of the Divinity’s reach (1.0 or 2.0) riding animals…

Well that wold be different.

Golems on the other hand… Or Charr Charriots and Combat-Cans. well who knows but please wait a dozen years, or more. I do not need mounts at this time…

Make it 10 slot and I’d get a merechant contract, a BL contract, put in my silver fed, and copper fed and mining toold and my mystic foger node and karmic converter

Give elementalists something other than DPS

Ele’s will function perfectly as support characters, buffers and healers.

If you’d be very quick you would have been able to see conditions were nice as well, but these’ll be nerfed somewhat within 24 hours from posting this post.

Healers? At least 6 proffesions will have easy acces to decent group support and heals….
The only thing you’ll need is some healing 781? 1361? or more in your stats somewhere

Tanks? No this game doesn’t support TANKS, but you can make a group much more sustainable by adding 200-400 toughness to all builds

Being TANKY helps the HEALERS HEAL…. You can ONLY heal so much… Making sure you take less damage then they can heal is the the sweetspot, and it will be faceroll from then on… From this point it’s just making sure you still have DPS and DOT for kills and when you get more comfortable and know to time dodges you’ll be easier to heal, and consequnetly you can drop toughness casuse you’ll be able to sustain yourself longer…. and lowering the dedicated healers in party to a lowr number…

There is your trinity enveloped in your own builds…


You can still be DPS, but with 200-400 toughness somewhere (few cavalier’s pieces or maybe a couple of knight’s)


You an still be DPS support, but buff it by changing the trinkets of a zealot armor from zerk to clerics… you’ll be done and have an instant tanky DPShealer….


You can still be condi but change your armor or your trinkets from sinister to rabid or dire and You’ll be done and you’ll instantly have a tanky Condition user…


Proper stacking of might and fury, banner use, spotter and strength in numbers will fullfill all your other needs… and light classes will still have 50% crit chance and ~3000 power or 2500 condition dmg, and last but not least 2500-2600 armor… and enough heal to face all the dragons at once… As for skills, CC’s and Reflects I think we will see….. after they’ve been released…

You’ll have 10 tanky builds with heals, DPS, DOT and I think it will solve a lot…
Like dungeos we will see shifts lowering the amount of armor when experience grows….

400 toughness gives 12% damage reduction for light armoured professions, not that much if you think about that. It’s much more effective to have a team that has almost 100% uptime of protection.

Do you think having a healer also allows you to turn noob again?
Yes protection helps and perma weakness on the enemy as well (hi, necro’s)

The weakness will reduce incoming dmg to 75% and no more crits and the protection reduces it by 33% combining the 2 gives you 50% remaining dmg, 0% chance of crits with 12% reduction leaving something in the 44% or so… Then you can be healed. Until that point where people understand these requirements I think maybe full soldiers and good fails is a must for people. Or not thinking of raids at all …

Active defence…. and intelligent use of blasts… Protection is way weaker then Weakness.. but combined they shine.

Conclusion would be:

You have as many meta’s asd there are wishes of team coimposition. |With DPS no longer being the sole requirement the balance of meta becomes a second question and the balance will be between DOT/DPS/HEAL/Tankyness , CC, cleansing and buffing will be all positives for builds but just add on.

Well In the end well go to a system which will Maximize DPS, Reflects, CC and Heals and has a good measure of tankiness.

This will mean we’ll end up roughly with WvW builds builds:
around 2400-2700 armor instead of full glass with most focussing on
:

  • Cavalier (T/P/F), (Knights(T/P/P) and/or Valkyrie (P/V/F) and Zerk(P/P/F) to get a balanced DPS, Why go for PvT and lose all ferocity? you can stack 20%crit chance with fury and have spotter and banners to buff precision
  • Zealot (P/P/H) (/ Nomads (T/V/H)) and Clerics(H/T/P) for a balanced sustainable heal build For DPS/HEAL
  • Sinister(C/P/P)(/Dire (C/T/V)) and Rabid (C/T/P) for some balanced sustainable conndition builds For Condi builds with some power for objects.
  • ( Apothecary (/ Magi/Shaman)) for condition/ healing combo’s (due to condition dmg needing only 1 stat for maximized DOT (quickly ignoring duration) heal can be added for condi/healing mixes while retaining some combat dmg. unfortunately ALL healing weapons have NO condition application).
  • Celestial builds (All stats) which will give access to EVERYTHING but have low DPS and DOT maxima as well as limited heal, but with some might stacking… well it remains potentially viable BUT you need to be able to use the specs you have in your chose build, also making celestial armor is a PAIN.

these 4(5?) builds incorporate some tankyness, and have dedicated roles
CC is generally build related and reflects are mostly build related as well (just gab the correct utility or weapons.)

In effect we will never be tanks, we just need to shift to somewhat more tankyness…

Like a lot, see potential:
1 Druid I like healers, already run 4 healers
2 Chronomancer I like the concept
3 Berserker Love the fact I can build on my Condi/power hybrid
4 Reaper Most interested
Like Wondering:
5 Scrapper Well I never got the hang of Engineer as a ranged character, maybe this is the answer Big hammer, and for range a mortar kit
6 Tempest I really like elementalist as is, and I see potential for some parts of tempest, but I feel the traits which need to be dropped are way to much… for way too little
Need to see, unsure:
7 Daredevil Hmmm, no clue yet 3 dodges instead of 2, but I cannot get might from dodges anymore…
8 Herald Well I have no revenant How could I compare
Do NOT care, no spark:
9 Dragonhunter I love my 2 melee healers, don’t knowi what to do with this. all ranged? so I lose my staff? or my mace ? well both are not ok.

Interesting problem saying you want META for raids. META for raids could be full celestial even… Or Condi only for some paths…Or maybe only build around sustain, not even remotely touching DPS

Understand META could be completely different for -ALL PATHS-…
Saying you want meta only could mean you only can run it when having 3 or 4 diferent armors with different runes… and 3 or 4 sets of trinkets and weapons, Or only legendary sets.

This because -META is the optimal build for the given content- Not neccesarily the fastest, maybe it will be then tankiest, or the builds most focussed on condi removes, or negation….

META is not yet established , not for the first leg , nor for all the other legs. Saying you want meta only is a problem when there is no clue whatsoever what the META would be…or could be…. or what problems arise and which solutions and synergies are needed to complete the content…

We’ll see… But we do know the present all out DPS META will probably not be sufficient to complete the content, or the developers are not adept enough in using it to it’s dullest potential… (which would be a big problem and cause serious problems when creating the ultimate challenging content)

On 18 characters I only run 3 Zerk Meta’s… 3 and often they are modded in run to create for me/my party optimalised variants on the META, leaving them Off-meta and just ZERK builds, this as I ignore zerk meta groups as 90% only is able to do content using exploits and shortcuts…. I really think working to play with PUGS will improve my capacity for ‘being creative’ and improve my ways and thougths to think outside the box….
The small little box only focussed on STACK, BUFF,REFELECT, DODGE 2.5 secs after the telegraph and continue…
Which only gives a minor understanding of all possible utility ingame…
Ignoring fields other then fire lightning and water and thinking you mastered the games potential…

Well… META is the most optimal (group)build for running any given content.

This is how it was stated in the forums before. Some people think WE NEED these builds or we’ll be useless, or without chance, NO…

Meta suggests It will be the optimal build IF people follow the rotations, have the excact builds, teh same food, teh same group build and on and on and on.

If you ever pugged you should be aware most (experienced) pug groups can do all content as fast as most guild groups now, likewise most raids will be runnable, with PUGS, within a couple of weeks , maybe 1-2 months, after the content was released. WHY? cause people will have seen it, and done it and will make groups cause they need other players. The “It’s impossible with PUGs” is an illusion.

I have 18 characters running from Glass Meta dungeon builds to semi durable WvW scouts and tankier melee’s

I think I should have some characters whcih are durable enough for grup content even with a lot of pressure. I have several heal specs,
ele (water staff (zealot/Clerics),
guard (nomad/clerics or zealot/Clerics)
just made a “druid armor (zealot, will add clerics trinkets.)”
I even have a necro healing spec (Zealot/Clerics)…
and if this wouldn’t be enough I could fall back on my
shout heal warrior… (Zealot/Clerics.)

I think when we are used to Glass we could expect some changes in the meta, but I think we are very aware we are capable of dodging and negating/reflecting/ blocking/ mitigating/ incapacitating… to a point where we should be able to get a pug group through very, very soon.

Meta for lvl 1-50 fractals will remain the same, as will dungeons and WvW on the present avaialble proffesions. On the new specialisations some new meta will evolve. We’ll see it when it gets here.

Frost bow nerfed by 50% !!!!

The elementalists don’t care, most dmg still comes from good rotations… And now we’ll see glyph of storms and glyph of elementals reintroduced in dungeons, Hope people learn to switch 1 ele to earth and use it for a blast finisher, blast blast (6,7), the the wall the sandstorm then moving to fire and the second ele one starting with fire : lava font (6,7) then MS, buring and switching to sandstorm to conditnue blind uptimes and rewalling… maybe even using blast 2 in eart to hit water 3 for maximum sustain and mitigation while simultanioulsy still doing high AOE dmg. Of course lightning storm and lightning hammer is still available… I am pretty sure FGS and IB have been nerfed to $#!7, now see what the axe and lightning hammer can do….

Ascended Nomad Amulets

Just a thought, maybe it’s only possible to buy them on characters who actualy finished LS s2… this as the chaptercompletion is character based. so buy them on your main/chars you ran ls s2 on… not on the alts you want’m on?

I finished LS on 7 of my 18 chars ( all proffessions except engineer and mesmer, but 2 times on warriors) and I normally play those chars so I do not run into this problems. they house my maxed crafting proffessions , have full maps and so on. After or before creating a new alt… I tend to buy the gear I want to try out mostly with characters whohave acces to all

Jus be glad You didn’t buy the keeper’s ascnededs, I personally do not mind, I have all recipe’s but shed out some decent cash for the medium armor 150 gold or so.. I already had the heavy and light anyways. Most weapn recipe’s as well, saves me some ecto, hero points and making another insignia/inscription each time I need a weapon / armor piece

2 yes you can do paths multiple times, but drops deminish 20+40, 20, 10, 5,5,5
If you need more tokens do the other paths first… some dungeons will pay more then 1 gold:
AC 1,2,3,: 1,5 gold/piece
Arah 3: 1,5 gold
Arah 1,2,4: 3 gold
TA AEtherpath: 2 gold
3 world completions will award your with : gift of exploration: needed for legendaries, you’ll recieve 2 per world completion allowing for 2 legendaries.

Some of us tried to run healing builds for a long time now….

Water Elementalist’s got dagger auto changed long ago as it was a huge problem in PvP… It’s autoattack allowed it to solo a lot of content in clerics gear… so it was removed.
Staff has only a limited amount of skills avaiable for healing most of which are HIGLY dependant on blast finishers… Auto heal can be extremely high on a dedicated build (1100-1450+ healing / auto with a full zealot/clerics build respectively)

Guardian is master of mitigation, but even though I do own a commanders build guardian (cleric/nomad build mace/? & staff shout condi removing build), it still is mostly adept in preventing damage in the first place, self sustain, yes, AOE heals by virtue of resolve and smal aoe fields, partly focussed on melee….. (well the symbol can do a lot of healing if yu do not mind to drop pure of voice. also allowing the symbol of swiftness to be an AOE targetable healing field)

Necro has limited options, though we will have a projectile blocking field now, whcih will provide weakness and poison as well when enemies push through (25% dmg reduction and no crits, and -33% reduced healing) , though staff 2 and mark on dodge can provide instant regen, focus offhand gives regen,and transfusion can be a powerfull heal. Wells can provide some buffs… But the big thing about necro’s is people will not bleed out….
It’s just a shame vampiric (aura) scales so bad with healing….
Warrior has still acces to regen banners…. can remove conditions wth warhorn, use shouts for heal and condi clears…. and well… that’s about it unless you’d consider banner of tactics relevant giving 20% boon duration and 180 healing buffing all party heals and buffs

Mesmer I never played as a healer… It will undoubtably be adept in being a healer but I prefer other builds, PU perplexity has some use in PvE even now confusion has base dmg..
And stealth means you can move around relatively safe, jus a shame durations are to be nerfed (PU effectiveness will be halved (I do really enjoy this with regards to WvW))

Enigineer is a proffesion I finally did my HP and WP map on, but I’m very inexperienced playing engi. cannot say I tried out a real (healing) build…. Shame on me.

Ranger has an AOE water field, A blast finisher in combat on beastmastery, or on warhorn, this warhorn balst can be modded to include regen, It can provide regen on shouts…. While I haven’t played ranger as a healing build I did play it with this support in place and in effect it provides 100% regen uptime without any real thought in a healing spec, of course you also have a regen signet…. I think druid might not add much to ranger as a DPS build, but ranger will most certainly add to druid as a healer.

I still look back with sadeness to the +300 healing and the +30% boon duration we lost june 23rd, which did nerf many heal and support builds BADLY which was only compensated minimally….. mostly by traits mostly very conditional, and the boon duration was removed completely in most cases… neither healing scaling or buff duration was used to compensate….

In effect A-net destroyed healing 23rd june, and now introduced druid… which seems illogical…

Just as a small remark, 5 cleric ele’s can heal over 1500 / hit on auto every second, so they can heal eachother for 7200 every hit……. (you heal allies more not self) tHy’ll be tanky and with 1 or 2 condi removers the health will continue to stay high… (tempest with shout condi clear??) unless damage will be (WAY more then) 7.5k+ counter DPS /sec….

For healing I’ll default to a zealot/clerics mix. Worked before will work later on.

Still retains reasonable dps and heals like crazy, and if we get a true healer: now it will heal even more. Zealot / cleric water staff ele does 1000 heal / auto hit… now we’ll see what happens with a true healer.

problem 8k (7680* 4320) res requires 4 times the computations of a 4k (3840*2160)resolution and 16 times the computations of a “normal” 1920*1080

.. I’d expect 8 Gb would be minimum and 16Gb Ok…. Due to textures being (pre)rendered being 4 times the size… I’d also expect 64 bit and dual precision to be very wanted… Lastly I think the need for double (or more) Xfire or SLI-ed cards would be very beneficial at this time, In 2-4 yrs time (ultra) high ends would manage ok most likely. (Though I do not see the benefit of going over 4k anyways… (I doubt I would like a 4times the present screen size (in my case the 24" would be replaced by a 48" at the same distance as I have my screen now (75-100 cm distance)

Originally I didn’t mind playing 640*480 and 800*600 or 1024*768 …1280*960 then I moved on to a 1920*1200 or 1920*1080… I did play on 3840*2160 and 3840*2400 (mostly trying videooptions and load for my setup)

I did notice though my 2 Sli-ed GTX 780s (3Gb) have no drop in framerate whatsoever if I run 3840*2400 (the game allowed double*double rates for a while, but I mostly run windowed so I do not know if this still applies)

Hmmm,

I play however I want in Pugs. I play l80 EXP when running non zerk or zerk builds, I also know what to expect from Pugs I expect less from a 1 k AP person then a 5k+ person, but in general with all kinds of people returning it’s safe to say there’s a big difference between a “recent” 5k AP player and a returing 5k AP player.

I do know builds, I carry banners use the to blast if possible. skill 3 and skill 5 are both very usefull, and in some cases the adequate use of skill 2 also benefits the party greatly….
Most people have no clue whatsoever. Also whenthe warrior has a bit of healing power the use of a banner of tactics can give a party perma regen (with 20% boon on might and fury AND 180 adde healing for the regen…) doubt many people ever thought this out. I sometimes run " low AP’s " through dungeons and bring my zealot shout healer with hammer…. It is a great benefit to most noobies to have 170 toughness/ vitaility and healing and 20% boon duration.. And most warriors will carry banner of strength and precision anyways……..

Staf ele in dungeons has 3 blasts (also coinsider arcane wave and arcane brilliance, which are of course utility skills, which also ups the blasts for the other 2 builds by 2…. allowing for way more blasts then you are expecting

I hope you understand there are many choices and many solutions, and not all ways the Meta one is the perfect one. Scholar is nice but I doubt most people know a elementalist Meta build loses 20%+ efficiency when taking ANY dmg whatsoever.. (generally instantly dropping below 90% health) and in maney cases this is significant, and often easilycountered by walls/reflects. Decent ele’stend to be able to place their own walls, but reflects can be difficult, especially when playing Staff (don’t remember if it was dagger or focus but I know ele’s have some reflects/ defence from projectiles……. Magnetic aura, swirling winds…and blind fields as well vs melee, Sandstorm? allowing for great mitigation, unfortunately these will causse problems with the DPS rotations in many cases….

Simply said I ignore most of my defences in the hope my Pug Party does mitigate damage so I can maintain max dmg output if I play ele. In guild groups this is mandatory and in pug parties it tends to kill me regularly…

I expect people to make mistakes, I do so as well… I’m not a machine, nor do I want to be one. I run decent Pugs with generally faster ‘then most expected’ speed, But it really depends on players.

I never kick people for running ranger/mesmer/engineer or necro. I kick people only for leeching, AFK ing and being extremely unknowing, aggressive or rude.

Guardian can only use burning natively…

If you have a little condi cleanse you do not have any problems…

Saying burning is OP is very simple… trying to figure out what to do to counter as well… most stacking burning is in fields.

Just get out of the circles… DONE.

I have more problems with engineers, necro’s and mesmers stacking 4-8 conditons in a short window of time causing removal to be difficult.

Problem isn’t some people can solo this , problem is most, AT LEVEL 40, cannot..

Understand we have -plenty of lvl 80 people- joining in groups with 800-1500 AP still with masterwork and rare trinkets, without runes or sigils. Without ANY clue whatsoever about mechanics.

I see you wearing full rare armor, rare weapons with major sigils and runes effectively making you as strong as most people running with ascended gear in AC. but most people at lvl 35-45 still use masterwork of fine gear they got from drops or story…. most of the time a mix of stats not focussed on power or any build. You ran pure fire wih pyromancer’s puissance which is the most powerfull trait line for elementalists,

I congratulate you on your run, but I will not open my LFG’s now for people with lower then 80 level.

I do 1 carry a week to keep in touch with how I started and to remind myself of errors and fails in paths, and to teach people… I die sometimes on my glass level 80 elementalist because I sometimes forget most of the people I carry are using ranged only, do not support and sometimes know nothing of the mechanics, even after we tried to inform them cause they do not speak English….

This experience makes my level 80 EXP runs enforcing level 80 still.

And Yes: I do kick people from my lvl 80 EXPerienced party for popping Oozes or doing nothing, or ranging….. or failing to do what should and could be expected of the class… Thieves not giving stealth during the run, or only stealthing themselves,
guardians just eating poison at the spiderqueen without a wall of reflect,
both apply to mesmers for that matter…..

I expect warriors to carry empower allies and PS, and rangers to have spotter….
And I do take necro’s and expect them to carry 3 or 4 wells (bindness will be a huge bonus)….
Ele’s should heal, speed up and might/fury stack…I am gratefull for people blasting the fields….
These things happen in most +5k AP groups, I just do not require the AP’s:

Still I ask mostly for “FullRun L80 EXP” I get good groups 50-65% during the week and 20-25% in weekends… The remaining groups are either not so capable or just noobies trying to get carried. I am without mercy when people do not -TRY- to pull their weight… I kick people for running pure ranged sets (LB/SB rangers, Staff/Scepter Guards/ and occasionally a Rifle/LB warrior, I am very tolerant to people saying or admitting they do not know and I’ll kick when I notice they do not want to react or change if we try to confront and/or help them. I kick AFK-ers, people who do not know where to go, people not listening (NPC’s jumping over trigger spots and people refusing to walk back a small distance are gone if they do not react to my requests/ or demands if they ignore my request.)

Maybe I sound elitist, I have ran AC & COF 1000s of times and TA, COE and SE hundreds of times maybe more, if I combine the paths, and I know I’m noob in some area’s of the game as well (Arah, HotW and CM I seldomly run and consequently I suck at all 3, though experienced at playing dungeons I am only dimly aware of most mechanics…. leaving me noob with 19.5K AP in those 3 dungeons. This also shows the reason I igore AP as a criterium) I ran HotW p1 regularly in the 1st year of this game, and CM rarely, I ran Arah only a few times (mostly story to finish my story line), I have dungeon master and am dones with the skins from the night dungeons, and am over half for Arah and CM. (which definately doesn’t make me a 1st-timer… in those dungeons as well)

I have the dungeon sets to run Arah but I rarely do (even though I like the dungeon)… Mostly because I do not feel I’m experienced enough for EXP group and find the errors of open groups annoying… Maybe my personal expectancy should be adjusted….. but I write my LFG’s to get what I want…..

no it is one of the modifiers used after the damage has been calculated but as it is used as a modifier after the initial dmg is calculatecx it will apply a full 5% increase any hit.

you have the actual formula for your dmg, which gives a result and is multiplied by all modifiers (in- or excluding crit depending on the RNG of course).


For eaxmple a partially ascneded (partial ascneded armor, ascneded weapon(1100 avg dmg), ascneded trinkets) elementalist with sigil of force and sigil of night with fire trait line does a fireball hit against a (fulll-health) glass warrior at level 80 while all modifiers apply:

dmg will be:

318 + 0.85 (2701 power * 1100 weapon dmg (avg)) / 2241 (armor) = 1444 dmg

1444 can crit (49.7 %) => in which case it’s modded by 229.76 % = 3319 dmg


Sigils and trait dmg:

Rune of the scholar +10 %
SIGIL OF FORCE +5 %
sigil of night +10 %
pyromancer’s training +10 %

modifier: 1.1 * 1.05 * 1.1 * 1.1 = 1.3975% (or 39.75% added bonus from sigils and traits.)

max 2018 dmg with a normal hit
max 4638 dmg when critting

This is valid of course when all these apply.

well people were very helpfull when we started the game when precursors were 20-40 gold.. nowadays with mandatory ascended gear due to 10% more power and pre’s costing 1000 gold we see reasons to be less helpfull if it doesn’t give any benefits.

Still try to be open and helpfull.. But sometimes people are greedy.

I’ve been in several guilds now…

Organized PvE guilds
Organized Dungeon guilds
Organized WvW guilds
Casual guilds for social needs
Casual guilds for PvX

They all had the same guild missions at fixed times, in organized guilds it’s starting at time XX:XX in casual guilds you assemble at XX:XX….

Organized Dungeon guilds have mandatory builds for dungeons, and minimum requirements
Organized WvW guilds have mandatory builds for WvW and expect some things
Organized PvE guilds normally do not ask for specifics.

I’ve been in open guilds no represent required, many people join and socialize, pick up other players, I have been in mandatory represent guilds where I saw people kicked even for using storage guilds or PvP or WVW represents.

I’ve seen leaders who worked hard tro keep a guild together, I’ve seen leaders who tried to enforce their role (I normally leave these) and I’ve had leaders who didn;‘t have to do anything and still had a HUGE amount of respect…
I’ve seen leaders not doing anything and milking their guild for gold/ influence and just making guild cata’s and selling those… or asking taxes…

No 2 guilds are alike. I’ve been co-leader once , and officer (half a dozen times) in several guilds, mostyly because I run guild missions for my guilds, I run full guild missions in 45-60 minutes with 10-45 people depending on the needs of my guild, for commendations only, nowadays.

I’ve been in 12 guilds since launch of gw2 and still are in 3. I am leader of 1 (my bank), officer in a second (PvX/WvW) and ally to a third (world event). I am no longer looking for hardcore dungeon groups , I do not play PvP, I am at lvl 40 fractals so certain guilds are not relevant.

I think there are guilds for everything and everybody. Finding them however can be frustrating.

Remember guilds can be for
- teaching
- socializing,
- roleplaying,
- jumping
- world completion,
- world bosses,
- dungeons
- fractals,
- PvP,
- WvW
and more…

But I know only few players who can or want to do all..

But can’t you see all those level 80s in full ascended dancing happily in Queensdale
now all the time because they need longer to kill low level mobs ? They have waited
sooo long for it to finally get their big challenge in starter areas.

Luckily I already have 9 times map completion, I just get my 189/189 and 486/486 and then just run my next alt. no fighting whatsoever unless you mean the skill points… (had a lot of lols doing those with my mace guardian in cleric/nomads, just press 1 and go and get a new cup of coffee; when you return everything is quiet I’m afk facetanking who-oh….. Oh and no might whatsoever.. else I need to run with my coffee…

I personally do not mind our PvE no longer subjected to decisions made due to PvP’s problems with certain builds and the outburst following.

As long as PvP isn’t " playing with 10 HP and a skill bar of options only doing 1 HP each in same times as other proffessions" there will always be complaints. Bit simplified , but quite accurate….


I cannot help there is a synergy between hybrid (condi/power) builds and might, a lot of builds in PvE and WvW are using might to be viable (Yes viable, not OP).
Might also buffs certain other builds, for example in PvP: no least the rampant Celestial builds, (but rampager and carrion builds would benefit as well…)


I keep thinking:
Doesn’t boon corrupting help on 25 stacks of might?
Or just stripping it?
Or reflecting projectiles when max buffed? Zerk LB rangers kill them selves when they shoot into a reflect when fully buffed… ~ 15-18k dmg… at least in WvW


I do not mind seeing might nerfed to 10 power and condition dmg / stack for PvP only. Or having it removed entirely for PvP only. I honestly do not care.

Just leave MIGHT alone in WvW and PvE.


In PvE pug carriers are valueable, but are used in conjunction with Elementalists to pre stack might (using a base means faster at 25, and ele gives a LOT of fury.) this combination saturates the party with might and fury, vulnerability will stack very fast.

With the now used builds we have warriors which stack:
150 power, (empower alies)
150 condition dmg (deep strike) (if build uses arms trait line)
750 power and condition dmg (might stack) (provided enough targets are available!)
170 power and condition dmg (banner)
170 precision and ferocity (banner)
+20% crit chance (FGJ?) but this is mostly courtesy of elementalists
+10-25% dmg through the application of vulnerability

This adds up to:

28% crit chance
1020 power
1020 condition dmg
11% critical dmg
+10-24% dmg (vulnerability)

Which is at present the main use of the warrior in this game outside PvP environments
The buffs. Regarding dmg: many builds surpass the Warrior, but only if the Warrior is present…

If one warrior cannot stack enough the guard will probably be forced to run empowering might. or else a second warrior.. just for might. a banner build and a vulnerability build (on my mark?) for insta 25 vulnerability boosted by sigils of discipline and might…?


Now think, only when the warrior is present, only with multiple targets…corruptable, cleansable….


All my hybrids & pug carriers (both my guard and warrior) are using sigils of strength. All of them use might duration runes (aristocrat/strength/hoelbrak) and if needed boon duration food… which has might stacking (33% chance on crit) for the longest possible duration of might and a potential of 4- 5 might every second… (3 from GS triple hit (auto, not HB), 1 from sigil of strength and maybe 1 from the food. All lasting 65% longer.


Might stacking would be instantly fixed by added maximum e.g. 1,2,3 might max per second in forceful greatsword which would tone down the might speed stack from warriors a LOT… to compensate the duration could be increased (doubled?) so a significant ramp up time evolves it would mean the 25 wouldn’t be attained as fast or at all, but a steady 15 could be managed… alllowing other builds to retain value, but even though I suggest this I’m all against this.

It would mean PRE-might stacking would be distributed over guard and ele, giving might and fury before the fight, whcih would be slowly supplemented by warrior.
This would mean the warrior and the guard would be obligatory might stackers and the ele would also be mandatory… and we would retain the same meta, just wioth slightly shifte builds, it would also mean other warrior builds with sigils of strength could improve to be (a bit more) (semi-)viable.

Having Blood is power now having effect on others is nice, but then nerfing the duration to 8 seconds is laughable. other specs can have good acces to might iif using certain builds… (axe ranger?, empowering might guardian?, scepter/dagger elementalist?, engineer? and some p[roffesios need to work little wonders: mesmer tends to need a lot of interupts or several signets, same for necro… signets…. and a skill which punishes yourself to get 8 seconds of aoe might (2 stacks dissapeared mysteriously) with a long CD…. why the self bleed (10s) isn’t the same duration as the might (8s) I still do not understand. BLOOD is power? if you would extend the bleeds with own build and apply a self bleed for 20 seconds (buffed with 100% duration) leave the MIGHT fo 20 seconds as well. AOE.
Also CD should be reduced to 20s

But in the end this is an MMO the second M should solve your problems instant In groups the warrior is a benefit, if needed a guard can dos something comparacble but to lesser extent… mesmers can redistribute boons if needed. a lot is possible together…

Phalanx Strenght need 1s internal cd. And that’s all.
Why another professions have their cd in the might stacking skills, but Warriors doesn’t?

Simple change to meta: 2 warriors, 1 guard and 2 eles, rest can have fun together
other things:
invisibility? :" 2 warriors, 1 thief and 2 eles

I solo-ed it after 4 attempts, but with help it’s difficult to fail…

understand 2 or 3 people will work fine as well. did a lot of thosemachievements with 2 and 3 ppl. Mostly for the more difficult achivs

I honestly do not care I do not have any asura, after my 2 asura’s finished their personal stories for achievs I deleted them, whcih was probably the best decision I made regarding my play style… I stick to norns and charrs and some humans and sylvari for PvE

I would say if you play WvW and PvP asura are far more usefull, though most of my more tanky builds are big as well to help keep the smaller chartacters alive.

I am really wondering if we will need vision crystal(S) for legendary armor… (and/or trinkets)

With the introduction of electrum (probably from jeweler) Legendary or Ascended trinkets will be available as well I hope…. probably also requiring lesser vision crystals for rings/ trinkets and probably a big one for the amulet… I’m trying to rebuild my supplies at the moment after making ascneded weapons for my 13 most used characters really made a dent in my supplies 0.0

Effectively princess never gets fed, mawdrey gets some food now and then en the star only gets occasional food…

Just 1 more month (give or take a week)… and we’ll know

Ropughly once a year I have the urge and want to buy some keys, mostly after I leveleed aniother few characters gone up some levels in fratals and farmed dungeons for a while I buy them…

1st year I bought 25+ (what a mistake to make) 7 characters
2nd year I bought 5 or 10 I think, got quite a lot of keys overall from doing map… 12+ characters
3rd year I bought 5 with reduced prices from the gem store… At 18 characters now

Being able to buy some of the skins is really nice -BUT- I smile when I got a claim ticket, and I am really, really NOT happy with ALL other content, even scraps kitten me off… as it will takje me another year to get more.

OR I need tro get some keys from alts doing map. whcih I’m not really in to at this moment. as I already have 9 characters with full map. Most characters are insta leveled and then go for thew Unlcok everything route whcih in my case means: 100% waypoints, all story modes and all hearo points. Any events or heart which pop due to me needing to fight myself to the next waypoint or hero point are nice but not relevanty to my way of playing at this time.

Alts generally get their ORR maps completed due to the nice exotics and the chances of Ancient wood and Ori ore, which tends to be a better gamble then t2,3,4 even though they are valuable as well… You used to get 2 lvl 8 exotics when doing cursed shore with good chances of named items, but it’s been nerfed as well…

Secondary use for Essence of Luck?

Well I salvaged ALL of my greens and blue since introduction and I am at 225% MF (BASE)….

Leaving me 75 * 30000 luck shy of 300 % MF (2.25M luck) which in the present amount for me when playing is about 225-300 days or so… (7500-10k Luck a day)

SO I really do not think this should be a problem atm.

I suggest:

For our 4th birthday we get a luck eater giving only blues and greens in return ENJOY ! Of course only exotic luck will do as it’s picky. Call it Puck, Puck for Luck

I’m very happy with my consumables, thank you. either the 50-75 silver for main food and utlis per 30 min or my cost effective options for 2-5 silver per 30 minutes

Why remove these? If I get a true noob party these buffs will help me finish dungeons, and if the group I play with are good they’ll be using them anyways… I laught at META zerk parties without a food buff. it’s a waste of DPS, I think people need food .

Utility and A Dungeon Set will improve DPS 26-33% no matter what build.
If you run meta zerk and have wrong sigils and no utility you are _squishier, doing 20-25% less dmg then you ought and this is just not very smart…


I use

  • +30% magic find while farming; well always nice
  • +40% conditions on my condi build(s); well: else dot is weak
  • -40% conditions in wvw; well: why not to try to stay alive
  • and some truffle steaks for dungeons if appropriate… power eh…

combined with the appropriate utility food,

  • sharps for pwr, More pwr
  • crystals for condition, More condition dmg/duration
  • halloween food for farming More MF
  • slaying potions in dungeons. Just because

And they fit me fine.

Personally I do not think there is an excuse for not using food, even if you get lvl 60/65 food AND utility, you’ll get decent buffs. You check for buffs while playing so you can instant see you need food reupped….. time wasted 1 second per 25-30 minutes to check and 5 seconds to doubleclick twice. When in WvW you’ll often get it from PUG commanders (got it on t7, on t5 and t1, so I do not think I’m wrong here) or you can feed from guild raids starting saving you a lot of cash, getting you max food and it will not take more effort then just pressing F….


I use CHEAP food when I do not care about max stats it saves me 75-90% of costs

  • +26% magic find while farming; well always nice (1s for the one with gold find)
  • +36% conditions on my condi build(s); well: else dot is weak (2 s)
  • -36% conditions in wvw; well: why not to try to stay alive (still expensive 18s)
    (* -28% conditions in wvw ? less then 6 s)
  • and some cheaper steaks for dungeons if appropriate… power eh.. well they stay expensive… so either take the expensive one of get magic find/power.. (glazed peach tart, +26% MF, +60 power, around 10 copper!)

combined with the appropriate CHEAP utility food, saves me 75-90% of costs

  • lvl 60 sharps for pwr, More DPS (80 instead of 100) (less then 2 silver)
  • lvl 60 crystals for condition, More DOT (80 instead of 100) /duration (less then 2 silver)
    BUT!:
  • I still use powerfull slaying potions in dungeons. Just because they are -cheap- p;aying 1 or 2 silver for 10% added DPS on path whcih require only enemy X is a very nice gain
    Actually getting -10% dmg is a vey nice secondary… most look past it..

And they fit me fine, when I’m running cheap!

So you can choose, running max buff it expensive.

But in dungeons you’ll just slaying foods and maybe some MFG and you’ll be doing +10% dmg, with your dungeon weapon set even +26% dmg… so why not use it and be stuck at 15%. cost 3-15 silver per path

In WvW you just use sharps or crystals and you’ll pay ~ 2 silver / 30 minutes, for improved stats If you pay for your own food you’ll be at 10s.


I’m not happy you are suggesting you want to have another layer of diversity removed and have the game dumbed down more. Food is a Huge extension on builds/ traits/ gear and other aspects on the game. it is also switchable on the fly, allowing you to modify your build without needing to change GEAR….

Guardian can stack up to 20+ stacks of burning, ranger 10-15 stacks and other condtions, and engineer was said to gt up to 25+ stacks even supported by many other conditions as well…..

Ranger could add 15+ poison and 15 stacks of bleeding as well with good rotation, at melee range

Necro is stuck at 10-12 bleeds in a very slow rampup, 3-5 poison and 2-3 burning… though it can stay at range

Mesmer can only stack very low amounts, BUT will have acces to 5 damaging conditions…. and has acces to the highest condition dmg (well same as guardian actually, but mesmer has bothe a signet for condi dmg and for duration) in the game…

Warrior can stack up to 16 bleeds(with spikes up to 33) some torment and 4-6 burning.

Luckily I made 5 charcters withing 3 months of launch Excluding the 2 I made in headstart, problem is I only need 3 or 4 more dyes….already have all others or they are in the LA remembrance rebuild kit (if i’m right which is not included, enameled brass, strawberry and so on)

well I’m at 175 now excluding the 3 events I did on friday… I think I was in only 2 of the 3 area’s so I doubt I’ll have more then 60-65 but the event was bugged, and I’ll never make up for the loss…

Might end up at 305 or so… shame… would have like another halo, ad maybe even an added thoughtless… but this event isn’t worth the effort…
