Are you roleplaying in CoF p1?

For general PvE this should work just fine.
Waypoints are a lot better. There is no need for mounts in this game. Besides you already have a flying broom.
How about a “skip dungeon” button that immediately gives you the achievements and rewards for clearing the dungeon?
Yes please. It will end elitism and gear kicking for good.
I agree it would be a lot more fun if one could chose a side they want to support. Supporting Molten Alliance or the dragons would be great, not everyone wants to be a hero.
Now I agree. You don’t need to exploit Lupicus, he is easier and faster with 3-4 warriors and 1 mesmer even if done the intended way.
What exploit are you talking about?
If you want to decide on one class I’d say guardian is the way to go. War has nice damage, Mes a lot of tricks so if you want to play with guild you can roll these as well. But if you want to play with PUGs I’d suggest Guardian, so every PUG will want you in thier party.
please Anet, make the world competition out of WvW.
I was lucky and was able to complete WvW areas by extremely abusing server switching. Right now this cannot be done and people who have no interest in WvW have problems with that. I completed each WvW area with two more characters but I did it in advance and purely because my server switched color a lot so usually in 3-5 weeks i had it done without any issues. But leaving WvW completion as the last thing to do may lead to extreme frustration as well as being on a serwer that is stuck with some color for a long time. My suggestion is to make a color change at random each week, so people won’t be locked out of some areas forever.
I really wish this game had a gear checker so that we could weed these people ASAP.
You can ask people to ping their gear. And if a person is close you can see what weapons does he use. “Sword and board” warrior is usually the type you don’t want to have in your party.
well ele has his problems that are worst.
Engineers aren’t a lot better. There is too much RNG in their skills. Thrown elixirs do random effects on hit that have one thing in common: when you want one of them you absolutely don’t need the other one. Getting Stability when you need stealth gives nothing and vice versa. Same goes with Wall of Reflection/Smoke Screen. Engineer would have really nice utility option if he would be able to choose the effect instead of praying to get the right one every time he throws an elixir.
There is also another thing – melee was considered to be high risk – high reward. But if you have 3 guardian, 1 war, 1 mes group it is a no risk – high efficiency run. When I started playing with friends we run 2 eles, 1 war, 1 guardian and 1 mes. But when eles rolled guardians most problems were suddenly gone. Most mobs balled by themselves, casting AoE party buffs was extremely easy (no targeting required, just cast it under your feet) and there were so much party buffs from guardians that people rarely died. Right now melee is the best way to go (even on rangers), there should be a buff to ranged damage to make it as viable as melee. To even things up mobs should get extra powers like leaping to ranged targets so being a ranged character would be risky too.
With condition damage:
- quickness doesn’t speed up ticking of condi dmg which makes it inferior to direct damage
- 2 persons with condi damage builds can max the stacks while direct damage will always be succesfull
Only part I worry about is the gear check people. Even if they don’t nessicarily increase in numbers with inspects/armory added, they do gain a tool to judge others extremely easy. With the addition of such a feature there would be a larger outcry of people getting kicked when forming groups ‘for no reason’
People already have a tool for judging others:
- no ping gear → kick
- magic find stacks → kick
- using wrong weapon (for example warrioir using rifle) → kick
etc.
In farming parties such things already happen and in casual parties I didn’t seen anyone being kicked for gear but have seen tons of kicks for not listening to others or being akitten.
And it will all be becuase gear checkers would just boot people after inspecting with likely not saying a word.
Some people are already kicking without a word based on profession you play. But it is extremely easy to find a party even when writing something like this “LF2M we hate DPS” or “LFG p1 I hate DPS”. Even at CoF which is the most farmed dungeon there are tons of people who just want to do daily run and go and they take almost anyone.
Frankly for the effort needed to implement something like that I don’t think it’s worth the potential damage to the community that they trying to Foster. The dev resources would be better used elsewhere.
Doubt this option would need a lot of effort: it is just one extra option in context menu and one extra window.
Simply put inspects lead to elitest griefing.
No, the elitism is already here. It is encountered in CoF p1 mostly since getting the right professions with the right gear speeds the run a lot and when farming people want to do it effectively. Hard to blame them for not wanting to do 10 minute runs instead of 7 minute ones.
Whips would be fun.
Could be added as a focus skin.
Class balance would be nice to have. Also separate balance for SPvP, ZvZ and PvCOF.
If you want to diplay title its because you had fun or put alot of effort getting it and that is alright, but if i want to display im craving for attention and have need for recognition? I call that hypocrisy…
No hipocrisy here, you made it all up. He didn’t say anything about putting titles for fun. Don’t lie like thakitten is hard to treat you seriusly after such things.
(there might be some mf leechers as well since inspecting would stop such selfish behavior).
I think this more or less confirms my suspicions about your desire for an inspect option.
Not really, when I play with PUGs they are almost always CoF p1 farming groups so MF leechers aren’t a problem. But I won’t deny that I approve MF leecher kicking. Even the devs said MF was a bad idea.
(edited by Phoenix.7845)
I wrote about it too, but there is a vocal minority that is so afraid of elitism (which is alredy here) that they will write anything to stop inspection from being implemented (there might be some mf leechers as well since inspecting would stop such selfish behavior).
This time you really don’t have to worry about the time. You can complete 25 achievements needed for backpacks in about 2 hours. In that time you’ll see most of the new content. In spare time you can grind crab achievements and wait for new update.
Try the new content and don’t worry – few hours a week is a lot more than you need.
On other hand i would have some personal satisfaction if i could show my acomplishment to other crab tossers…
I’m pretty sure no one would care. When chasing a crab you don’t have much time to contemplate other people’s looks or titles.
My worry is thakitten would be the thin end of a fat wedge, with people getting kicked from other dungeon groups when they have perfectly acceptable gear but not of all it perhaps oranges or the right kind of upgrades etc.
Or they could be told that getting x instead of y would get them a lot of benefit and get other usefull tips. Most team now don’t care about gear so I seriously doubt they’ll suddenly start inspecting like crazy and mass kick other players. Srsly you’re demonizing inspecting and searching for problems where there are none.
It breeds elitism,i still remember wow days with gear score.
1. The elitism is already here
2. Gear score replaced entire gear with one number and here you won’t have this mistake
Only thing that changes is that people joining gear check farming parties don’t have to ping and group leader can take a quick look by himself. If you have nothing to hide there is nothing to worry about.
To sum it up: Inspecting already exists, adding this function will only make it easier.
So? Most of those explanations are correct: It will breed elitism, and there’s enough of that in the game already.
If you want to know what gear someone is wearing, ask them!
The elitism is already there. Gear check parties exist and are only ones where I encountered kicking for bad gear. Inspect would be just a convenient feature and there is no reason why it would increase the number of people kicked for gear. When you go to a farming party you are expected to have certain gear and when you go to a casual party then pretty much no one cares about gear and profession. So sorry but I don’t buy those explanations. Also inspect would be great when you see a person with a nice armor piece and you want to know what skin is it and the person is afk/doesn’t respond.
I’m an Alt-aholic. (Not on your list)
I have 35 characters. 12 level 80’s.
o.0 I always thought Alt-aholic is a person that has like 8 alts to have every profession.
Please check the forums. There are a LOT of threads on this and a LOT of posts explaining why this is not a good idea for this particular game.
And most of those “explanations” are: “blah blah blah elitism, blah blah blah kicking” etc.
Inspecting is actually a great idea – people who kick because of bad gear already make gear checks so nothing would change.
People want level 80 chars with full exotic gear to do dungeons faster. When doing some dungeon path a lot for tokens people want it to be done ASAP. Reporting such people is rather pointless since people are free to chose who they take into party and no one has the right to force them to take characters lower than 80.
Universal theme song for all Sylvari
I’m sure spamming bots will love this idea.
Since many people got their legendaries by farming CoF p1 for endless hours I thought that legendary weapons could be added to CoF token vendor in Lions Arch. The number of tokens would have to be extremely high but weapons could be offered with berserker stats instead of soldiers. I am sure a lot of people would like this to be implemented.
Well ive had my daily done before and it never gave me more achieve points on the extra categories. Even though it counted as more than 5 ap’s on the daily tab. Could of been a bug i guess.
If I won’t forget I’ll do some extra today and see if I get points.
Crab Toss Champion is the only honorable title in the game.
Not really, when it first came out, after the end of the round everyone was considered a winner (they got both the title and the crown above the head).
Pretty sure you dont get achieve points for any extra daily categories you complete after the 5 needed for daily.
I’m pretty sure you do. But capping achievement points at 5 per dailies would be a nice idea.
I thought everyone just skipped those.
To me the personality system seems like it is a bit underutilized.
That is a serious understatement. Personality system has no meaning at all. You can be 100% charismatic and when you use a barbaric otion it will auto succeed. Also you can talk to an npc and select the same option over and over and shape your personality to any one you like. I have a feeling that this system was supposed to look different but release was rushed and there wasn’t enough time to finish it.
And it continues in the living story as well. When the first living story update was released there was an option to talk to refugees and they told the character how hard their lives are now and at the end the character would say something like “uh, ok.” or something like that clearly showing that he/she doesn’t give a kitten about it. Was pretty fun though.
Crab Toss is pvp, so moving it to daily pvp category as optional achievement would solve all problems.
- If there is a winner, put them on the ingame messages or let people know who the Millionaire is.
Yeah, because everybody cares about some random dude who got lucky once.
The shortcuts is not intended.
Not many people care about that argument – for example mesmers porting people so they don’t have to do the puzzle.
No matter how you break that down, it’s pay-to-win and Anet won’t do it.
Airwick – please read this quote, and realize, this is your answer, it’s a moot topic, move on.
I don’t think so. If Anet wanted people to get items for gems they would do it. Now they have to gamble and in average Anet gets a lot more money this way. I’ve seen people writing that they were spending sums lik 75$ trying to get mini quaggan. And after they got nothing they just spent more. Some people like tha skins so much they will spend a lot of money on boxes/keys to get them.
I’d like to see Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood a lot more.
Many mesmers port people so just ask from time to time if there is one on JP and you’ll have it done.
Instead of 250 piles of dust there should be a variable crafting material so that you can get different stats on the armor not just soldier one.
+1, I have same problem every time I buy gems
+1
I would pay 50 gold for a race change.
I think ANET would like 50 dollars a lot more
They have enough of GW2 gold already.
If Molten Facility was to be added to fractals it would have to be heavily modified so we wouldn’t have second long fractal like the dredge one. It would be nice to have something new but it shouldn’t take more than ascalon or ice fractal to complete.
This was done in Diablo 3, and was very unpleasant. You had to have atleast ** amount of magic find or gtfo.
Now there are people who will kick a pug from the party if they see he’s using mf gear.
If the problem in the first place is MF gear being worn in dungeons, I don’t think MF sharing is the solution
Why not. Maybe people wouldn’t come to dungeons with full mf gear if they know that thier getting only 20% of bonus mf.
i generally hate to pay gems especially a high price like you suggested for fluffy things.
but i like the idea as long as gay marriage won’t be an issue!
How about interracial marriages? Don’t you think male asura wouldn’t look cute with female charr bride?
Allods Online has different-sex interracial marriage and divorce systems, it works awesome (you even have an emote to carry your loved one in your arms).
Wow, it looks like a cheap WoW ripoff.
Why do you need marriage? Roleplaying? but… why? I thought you RP’rs were good at pretending..
I agree. I don’t think there is any need for things like game marriage, if players want to, they can RP it. I’d prefer something usefull being added to the game that would benefit majority of players like new dungeons and locations, spvp maps etc than things like players housing, RP stuff or mounts.
That is about $400 on a gold site.
I really hope you mean gem to gold conversion or you may be finding yourself at the bad end of a banhammer soon for admitting that you use gold sites. :/
No, he didn’t. Also he didn’t admitt to anything, checking gold prices isn’t illegal and he didn’t say anything about buying.
Just don’t party with players that are in Full Magic Find gear. Magic Find is for Grinding, not running Instances/Parties.
But if you ask for gear ping you will be called elitist at least. If there was a way to inspect what people are wearing then there would be no problem with that. But many leechers don’t want this to happen because they would be kicked from parties.
I’m under the impression that traveler’s set increases power and condition damage
While explorer’s improves power and precision
But their main stat is magic find so those people would contribute more by running with non mf gear.
Overall I think sharing mf with the party is a great idea. Those who want high mf would just group with likeminded people and everybody would be happy.
1) jumping puzzle cheating
Yes, I called it cheating. People use portal to bypass the puzzle and get rewards for something they didn’t do. I don’t understand why this is still allowed. To get rewards for completing a JP, you should always have to complete that JP, by playing through it. Not by pressing “enter portal” at the start.
Wow it really hurts you that much that some guy did the puzzle a bit faster? When I’m bored and have nothing to do I like to portal people in EB puzzle and find it a fun experience. Most of those people are collecting badges for the legendary and don’t care for WvW not even one bit. I see no harm in them getting badges in more convenient way.
2) WvW keep cheating
There’s a whole tactic around this. After capturing stonemist, people take 5 minutes first to “mesmer sweep” the keep, and it’s not even always enough. One mesmer inside and it’s gg, keep will be in enemy hands again before you know it’s under attack. I absolutely don’t understand why Arenanet allows this. Bypassing the need to take down wall or gate should be called cheating and made impossible.
A simple fix would be to make mesmer portal require a path. This would remove said issues while keeping all normal / non-cheating uses of the skill.
Maybe it is just a valid tactic, one that you have to deal with and learn to counter it.
I think that players don’t do most of the dynamic events because they aren’t worth the effort. Increase the rewards for dynamic events and more players will come, like with the major DEs that now give daily chest. I think that completing an event could give a token and this tokens could be traded for laurels, guild commendations, dungeon tokens etc. This would guarantee more people coming to all areas. I personally enjoy DEs a lot and like to do them but perspective of better reward always wins
