Why are you spending time on this stuff yet neglecting dungeons, new pvp maps and MODES, new weapon types and classes…STUFF that the overwhelming majority of people want.

Yeah, that’s been my biggest beef with the majority of releases in the last year. Sure, we get some cool stuff…but it doesn’t address any of the reasons why I’m tired of the game. “Oh cool, new dailies – still nothing that rekindles my interest in this game.”

People who argue that we wouldn’t be “satisfied” because we’ll burn through content faster than they can develop clearly never heard of the term “replayable” or are just lemmings/rubes to the Nth degree.

It’s been 2 years, everything feels stale tbh. Living story has virtually no replay value after you’ve done with the achv. The sad thing is, they keep pumping out those. Then come a break like this, throws in rehash holiday event. Meeeeeh …..
I’ll still play but can’t sake off that feeling boredom creeping in.

The new daily’s are just yet another sad and pointless remake that does not NOTHING yet antagonise the majority of people who have been here from the start. Why do you insist on doing this? The daily’s, the traits…., the pvp?

The majority of a game’s playersbase is very rarely the ones writing on a forum, it’s USUALLY a minority of the players who do this. Then there’s the problem that if people are content they produce a smaller amount of posts (there is nothing to complain about so it get’s meaningless to just make posts that praise and are happy).
So I hardly believe that you who complain are in majority

It goes both way, not every upset players actually participate on the forum too. So what we left with which is more, upset or not upset. You can use that argument ^ on the last fractal update for instance, it is fact by now they alienated many fractal players. I remembered the days ppl actually queue up for fractals, web based lfg was loaded back then. The change on fractal was definitely a negative one. Only time will tell.
The amount of forum post won’t show the total of ppl disliking or liking. What happened in game will.

There are only so many mmorpg players you won’t have enough for every mmorpg game. Human race aren’t producing geeks fast enough.

I’m just going to sum up the ridiculous opposition here:

1. We don’t care that we’re getting rewarded more. That’s not the point.
2. We don’t care that it takes less time to get those greater rewards. That’s not the point.
3. We don’t care long-time marginalized groups benefit greatly from the changes (AP Hunters, PvPers, to a slightly lesser extent, WvWers). That’s not the point.

So what’s the point?

1. We want to never be pushed outside our comfort zones. That’s the point.

2. We want to expend absolutely no additional effort in order to attain any daily achievements. They should come as a natural byproduct of what we happened to be doing anyway. That’s the point.

The point is that Anet gave us “Go to ‘insert map’ and do 4 events.” “Go to ‘insert map’ and view a vista.”

So tell me what’s wrong with the previous system? Why cant I do events at my current location. Why can’t I view that vista that’s just down the road.

My view on this new daily system is this:

Login rewards: Great, very nice.
3 dailies for 10 AP: Again, that’s great
Making me go to specific areas: Not so great.

Honestly though, after thinking about it, it’s not that big of deal. Assuming Anet doesnt tweak (which is a VERY MINOR, simple tweak) the system in the future, we’ll all just simply adapt to it.

Your main qualm about the new system is that you maybe have to take a WP or an Asura gate or two…

Yea I’m just going to quote myself.

“2. We want to expend absolutely no additional effort in order to attain any daily achievements. They should come as a natural byproduct of what we happened to be doing anyway. That’s the point.”

Your godkitten right that’s my qualm. You ignored this though.

“So tell me what’s wrong with the previous system? Why cant I do events at my current location. Why can’t I view that vista that’s just down the road.”

That’s easy. The goal of the daily achievement system to expose players to different parts of the game. I imagine that’s the reason why they separated the laurels from it too, so that stubborn, whiny people who dislike anything new, different, or challenging would not find themselves terribly disadvantaged by more aggressive positioning of dailies.

That’s your answer? So you imagined? Everyone that is doing world completion is already going around different parts of the world. By default, we’re exposing ourselves to different areas just by playing the game.

Try again.

“So tell me what’s wrong with the previous system? Why cant I do events at my current location. Why can’t I view that vista that’s just down the road.”

It’s not the same thing. When you make an area a daily, you draw a population of players into that area. Caledon Forest, for example, is not the same experience when there’s numerous people running about, as compared to you being the only person you’ve seen in the last 10 minutes. By making the dailies, “Go here,” they’re able to create a more community active experience. This is especially true for the “Do X events in Y Area” achievements, where you’ll actually find people interacting, calling out in map chat when they’ve found an event.

And where exactly is the fun? it is extremely crowded to the point, everything dropping 1-2sec flat. Yah more ppl, lots of standing waiting to tag an event, especially @ lowbie zone.

Anything that take you away from ingame playing experience pretty much breaks immersion.

If this is our new standard then I suspect most of the negative connotation behind “broken immersion” is no longer there.

Lol, it’s not new standard it’s just the way it is. It has always been.
Playing, wife telling you to do chores, continue playing later …. breaks immersion.
Starring @ long loading screen, breaks immersion.
Alt tab out to search for recipe, breaks immersion.

there are no smartphone in gw2. Lol. Hence, it breaks immersion.

That’s quite an assumption you’re making here. I’m sure smartphones in the GW2 world would be like caveman technology given the technology they seem to be capable of. It seems only reasonable that there is something equivalent.

That said, there may still be an argument why /wiki breaks immersion. I just don’t believe you’ve offered a valid one yet.

It’s not really assumption. It’s pretty much the analogy itself. On the contrary it’s actually you that assuming smartphone exist. Regardless caveman or not technology lol.

Also, can we please stop with the “LOLNEWPLAYERTRYINGTOGETTOSILVERWASTE” argument? You don’t need to go to Silverwaste to complete the daily for a newplayer, because a newplayer only needs to complete 1 of the achievements to get credit. That could be looking at a vista, or gathering some wood.

Of the two achieves that you could possibly do as a low level character, each was set in a specific map that many lowbies might not have and might not even be feasible for them to get to if they’re just starting out. Having only four very specific tasks for PvE dailies is incredibly restricting any way you look at it. Yeah, you can supplement with PvP or WvW, but why build a system that forces players into content? They should discover and experience those aspects of the game at their own pace. It seems like a lot of the adventure and discovery of the game has disappeared, only to be replaced with ANet’s heavy handed attempts to shepherd us through areas of the game that they feel need more traffic.

And honestly, that’s what bugs me the most: that I’m being coerced into something. I can even ignore the dailies, to be honest, but its the login rewards that have me eyeing the uninstall option. I mean, getting former daily rewards, that required actual effort… just for logging in? It just feels like a ploy to boost logins, and I really don’t want to be a part of it.

…What are you talking about? A level 1 player can both gather wood in Kryta (Queensdale) and look at a Vista in Ascalon (Plains of Ashford, or even Black Citadel). And a new, level 1 player, only needs to complete 1 item from the entire list to receive the 10AP.

If they’re human or charr… or figure out to use the gate system in their home city.

There’s always google, or the wiki, but I’d recommend you do a little experiment instead. Stand in any starter zone or town, and type in mapchat, “I’m new, how do I get to Kryta?” Then tell us how long it takes for someone to tell you, or even show you the way.

If I have to leave the game to search the web, or another player has to lead me through content to show me how it works, then that aspect of your game has failed. And here ANet has failed.

It completely breaks immersion. Not only that, but expecting low level characters to schlep all the way across Tyria to gather wood for a daily just seems ridiculously awkward. Talk about not playing how you want. Why can’t I gather materials in the area I’m progressing through now?

Asking for assistance from other players in a multiplayer game “breaks immersion?” Do you play this game like it’s a single player game?

Googling as per your adviced, alt-tab out, does break immersion. Asking for help from other players ingame, does not.

Sure, but the point is you shouldn’t need extra direction just to complete a daily. And it still doesn’t address the inconvenience. I would add that having to jump to a different starter zone would break immersion as well for some players.

Tbh, Amroth, switching different zone break immersion has long sailed with the design where every map is instanced. Loading screen for every different map already pretty much broke immersion.
The good old break immersion problem right there, loading screen.

And “/wiki [item to look up]?”

Surely the game tabbing itself out to load a web page officially related to and sanctioned by the game is okay too? It’s almost like your character is looking thigs up in his/her own smartphone and the focus is shifting to what he/she sees!

Yes, even by design from anet to link you out. You are contradicting yourself right there. It sure does break immersion, from the analogy you’ve given, there are no smartphone in gw2. Lol. Hence, it breaks immersion.

For those of you arguing that the new system is more restrictive, why do you feel compelled to do the dailies at all? This is a serious question by the way. You’re obviously not AP hunters, as AP hunters have been begging for a change like this for years. Why can you not simply forgo the daily achievements?

Because it’s fun to have a target when playing game, AP is one of them. Hence, i want to have fun while hunting for AP.
The problem with new system is: it is restrictive, which suck the fun out of it.

So… you want to “Hunt AP” while doing absolutely nothing outside of your norm? That’s not hunting, that’s being spoonfed.

What are you smoking? On the contrary, this new system actually more synonymous with your “spoonfed” term. Log in do nothing for rewards, do less, more restriction for more rewards.

You have to do and can do more things while hunting for AP on old system. You can choose where and how to complete them. Dungeons, WvW, spvp, fractals, roaming world event. It certainly not spoonfed and more flexible.

Do I really need to go back and quote how many times you and Lyssan said it takes you 0 minutes of effort because you’re just doing your own thing and happen to get the AP under the old system?

Keep drinking the koolaid. It does take effort to do dailies under the old system.
For instance,
1. Given the stage of the game where players are more likely to be efficient, good group in dungeons, i wouldn’t be able to finish daily revive even of 3 path of AC. I would purposely go to find a map with down npc or have the CHOICE to head to WvWvW where revive is more common.
2. I don’t really farm any nodes anymore these days, when i see daily i will purposely go out to farm, i can CHOOSE whatever map i wanted.
etc.
It does take effort, though it feels you get it effortlessly, the thing is you get to choose.

I definitely agree that the choices feel restrictive, hopefully they tweak them a bit for future dailies. Overall I think players will be satisfied, as this change is exactly what a lot of us asked for.

I sure as kitten didn’t ask for this change. And I was too busy playing the game to lurk on the forums everyday to even see if they asked us. Because I would have been thoroughly against this change.

+1 Halthur, if anything I asked for MORE choices, not less. Ironically, I have spent more time on the forums lately over this latest kittenup than I have playing.

I don’t think any 1 ask for this, they just sit on toilet and poop it out of the blue. Just like traits and NPE.
Here is what i am asking : FIX CONDITION DAMAGE PROBLEM.

Instead of a childish poop analogy why not make a constructive post about what changes you would make to the condition issue?

And as for the other guy about to burst a blood vessel… take a break you are getting way too worked up here about a game, little scary actually.

What constructive output do you really want from us? Even there is a constructive one, Aanet will not listen, like NPE and traits changes. Hence, the poop analogy is not really childish but really a well deserved one.

Lol, Condition Damage problem has been around for 2 years, since day1. Many has posted suggestions, feel free to do a search.
My point was ppl wants it fix yet none ask for NPE, traits and daily system change.

Just gonna repeat this:

@Lyssan

What purpose do you believe daily achievements should serve, if any?

1. rewards
2. get players to play

The problem is not with 1 but with 2.
Sure it’s quicker. More rewards for more restriction and less fun.
It’s awful.

Given that aside from AP, you actually get more rewards now just for showing up (laurels, and everything else in the 28 day track), without needing to complete any of the dailies, you could play EXACTLY the way you would have pre-patch and still be as well off if not better off than you were prepatch?

Perhaps you couldn’t read or something, like many said, it’ not about the reward. It’a bout how you get that reward. Being forced to certain area to complete dailies to get more ap ==> less fun, even if it’s quicker.

Perhaps you couldn’t read or something, my point is that even if you just showed up every day and did the things you liked, ignored the things you didn’t, sometimes get the daily, sometimes not, because of the more generous rewards that you get just for showing up, you are still coming out ahead compared to where you would be under the old system playing exactly the same way.

Lol keep drinking the koolaid. You are the one who can’t read. You still insisting and talking about rewards. It’s not about coming out ahead on rewards comparing to previous system.
It’s about CHOICES and HOW YOU GET THAT REWARDS.
It is certainly more restrictive and less fun now albeit far quicker and more rewards.

It’s not about the amount of AP/rewards. The problem is HOW you get that AP/rewards.
Sure AP/rewards are more now than before but you are being forced to do things that you don’t want to do. What’s the point when you take fun out of the game. Before you could do dungeons, fractals, WvWvW, spvp or just roaming doing world event to finish your 5AP minimum dailies. With this 13AP minimum dailies, you do less stuff and less fun for more reward.
For instance, standing around @ Queensdale events 1 shotting everything.

When you played class that you are not comfortable with or not properly setup as it isn’t your primary choice, you will be gimping your team. This will cause getting a win on that class even more difficult.
They actually designed this class specific daily win, so ppl that has no interest in that class, join spvp to just scrub around, ruin team play and complete their daily.
And like Kythan ^ said it ruins class balances every single day.

I missed out on Jungle Wurm before reset, you can’t really expect ppl to wait around for it tbh. If you have only a gaming session that doesn’t coincide with such event, you will bound to miss it.
After reset went to Queensdale, everything die in 1 second flat lol. It feels truly hilariously utterly crap of a joke tbh. Tagging for event is annoying.

If you were looking for pvp eSport/competitive type mmorpg, gw2 isn’t one too.

There is absolutely no point killing Teq and 3xWurm after you’ve done the achv. Drop rate of good item is next to crap anyway.

Pino.5209

I am so sick of this discussion.
There will ALWAYS be some kind of meta, because there will ALWAYS be a most efficient way of clearing content. ALWAYS.

True, but in group-based content, that meta could (with the right game mechanics) still involve different roles for different stat configurations. As opposed to a team of zerk, zerk, zerk, zerk, and zerk.

Gear =/= build
People seem to forget this.
Gear matters in only two things. First it determines your main source of damage (conditions or direct damage). Conditions has it’s place but it’s true that currently in group play they are not optimal though it still can be used here and there depending on your group composition.
Secondly it determines how much passive defense you have and therefore how much damage output you get just from stats. And here comes your build. No matter what gear you have, you could wear full ascended berserker’s or whatever but if you running with a staff AH guardian … Sure you will deal more damage than your regular PVT hero but for PvE it’s more beneficial (for you and your group) to roll a meta build or something similar to it. Such as spending 3 points in Radiance as a guardian makes more difference and has more support against trash mobs than any AH pvt hero could ever do. Just sayin’.

tl;dr: Gear has little to nothing to do with build diversity and OP obviously doesn’t experienced enough to realize this. Not only this but he couldn’t manage to make his own LFG with his own requirements thus the thread is just a pointless non-constructive whine post. Request for merge / delete.
Have a nice day!

It’s not that far apart as it seems though. The game is in majority all about optimum dps on pve. The meta, trait is picked based on zerk gear in mind mostly, optimum wise, hence zerk meta.
Sure, players are welcome to put variation to trait to suit situations, needs or group composition. At the end of the day it’s still revolve around zerk meta.
I really wish they fix condi on pve, it will really open up dps options. Well, not by much.

This "Meta" has to end

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pino.5209

Personally, I think they should just nerf all stats to a point that the difference between offensive and defensive gear is marginal. Make everything like celestial and simply give the different stat types a minor bonus. At least then the content would be balanced around low DPS and defensive players wouldn’t be as much of a burden, especially when scaling is involved. As a side effect, the game would likely become unplayable for those that rely on full defensive gear.

If this happened and everything stays the same in this game, reward and mechanic wise. It will be a suicidal move for anet. Imagine, fighting Kohler in AC for over 10 mins … lol, just to open a crappy chest.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pino.5209

Given the mechanic of the game, best dps will always be the meta, which is berserker for majority classes and some like mesmer, assassin. The whole game has to go through massive structural and mechanic overhaul into totally a different game for this to go away.

There is no way this game is going to survive with drawn out fight build type as meta. Generally, the game has crappy rewards on every single thing you do, for example, there is absolutely no point on running 1 hour dungeon for few gold.

Imagine, given current state of the game, every1 running around on soldier, knight, nomad, settler etc … pick anything that’s not really dps as your meta. Lots of ppl is going to head to the exit door.

The problem of dps meta in this game is it does not have much alternative. Hence, ppl like op generally blaming the zerk meta itself. Now imagine, if they fixed condition problem on pve to the point condi damage can compete with white damage.
And yes, condi problem is huge in this game and it has been ignored for a long long time, probably not fixable till they overhaul the mechanic and game engine.

In challenge mode this is stupid, we tried this for an hour as a 3 man party, we get him down to 20% then he spawns eles of death all over the place, you cant evade as you only get 2 evades and you need about 50 its nearly impossible to avoid the walls of instant death that come from 5 sides at the same time,

Im all up for any challenge in the game, but this is just an armor repair battle.

Don’t party up, go solo.
See my post up there for tips ^.
Go full toughness/vitality traits 6/6 on your class (pick everything that has regen and protection). Wear toughness/vitality gear.
1(stealth backstab), 2 and trap are your top dps on Caithe.
I just reran for 3rd time on warrior, worn full pvt and toughness vitality traits ,everything tickles. 30khp 2,9karmor. Dw about the damage, Caithe’s 1(backstab),2and trap hit like a truck.

Don’t party up, it will be chaotic.
Strategy is,
Put on your toughness/vitality gear+traits. Will give you lots of damage mitigation on the range attack he throws at you.

Everytime adds spawn, go to edge, create distance and put trap in between (more to your side). Kite the adds bit and use 2 skill if necessary to finish it off, or melee while it’s on trap.

After, if stealth up, use it, press 1 shadowstep to him. If walls closing in, use skill 3 or the run one. Otherwise, you’ll need to manually close him in, 2 skill is handy here.

When he goes invul again, don’t tail him, create distance again.

Save your dodge as much as you can, dodge accordingly. If you can run out of the way of wall, do so, don’t take easy way out dodging.

Rinse repeat.

When things gets hairy near the end, there is 1 side of cliff you can actually climb, i forgot which side, you’ll be only taking his throw and ground spike damage which is minimal, use it to recover. This is where the damage mitigation from your toughness and vitality ^ up there will be handy (it’s capped i think, but you want to max it out).

I was running Carrion, with Toughness and Vitality traits full. For challenge achv btw.

Hope it helps.

Teragriff - a step in the right direction

“Bosses” in this game divide into TWO breeds – annoying and boring. Sometimes they mix. And yes – Teragriff is a mix.

+1 to this
There are hardly any good bosses in the game, very few, but the opinion is pretty much subjective. I like 3xWurm, Volcanic Fractal last boss’ Imbued Shaman, Teq and mmm nothing come up on my head lol.
Mobs wise, i only enjoy fighting ascalon mobs, mainly because they glow lol.
Everything else just plain sucks risen, dredge, inquest, etc, not to mention silverwaste and dry top crap. I don’t have problem killing them running either condi or zerk. They are just mainly agitating. It doesn’t take much to kill them, but the amount of crap these mobs threw out trying to impress you as if they are a big deal just fail bloody short at annoying, risen and dredge are the biggest culprit.

The problem isn’t restricted to Bull Charge and Rush. Lots of closing gap skill suffers from almost the same problem.
Ranger, shortbow -> Quick Shot (rubberband)
Thief, shortbow -> Disabling Shot (also rubberband)
Ranger, greatsword -> Swoop (1,100 unit range but the darn skill usually doesn’t register damage when hitting target)
Not sure if there are more.
The coding on those skills seems to have problem with latency.
Yes, it’s probably those things that will never be fixed along with condition damage dilemma.
It ain’t hitting gemstore profit=bottom priority

Yep the boxy circle with 2 arrows surrounding the #1 skill will disappear. Indicating the auto attack is off.
Also don’t forget to switch it back on when you go back to longbow or whatever other weapons that doesn’t have problem with auto attack.

This was it! kitten yea!
I was searching all over the place but unable to find any hint (how) you could do that.
Thanks!
Finding this out after 1500h of gameplay … lol

Anyway, this is a gamechanger for me right now. Loving it!

No worries, took me awhile to figure it out myself too. Glad can help.

By binding the 1 key like i instructed above will stop the sequence almost instantly when stop pressing the button.
Ctrl+right click on the 1 skill on the bar to disable auto-attack btw.
Don’t forget if you go sword+warhorn/axe, you will have to disable it too when you switch to sword+axe.

Yah there is nothing in the options, you have to do it manually.

Disable the Auto-attack on Sword #1 skill.
Then bind 1 to a comfy button on your mouse with repeat option “while pressed”, delay 25milliseconds. (I’m using logitech btw) If you are on the target press and hold the button. Release that button and press 2 to use the skill or dodge. The 1 skill will disengage much responsive that way.
/hats up for trying to use sword. Not many rangers using it.

Rangers are way to over powered in that they have way to many invisibilities at there disposal and are able to use them to often. I watched 1 ranger take a group of 6 out single handedly by just going invisible in WVW. Anet, you need to look into this and fix it fast. This is bull.

Hunter’s Shot – Stealth
Hide in Plain Sight – Camouflage
Superior Runes of the Trapper – 3 seconds of Stealth when you use a trap

I have been playing since release and I’ve never seen or heard of a ranger killing 6 people singlehandedly in WvW against non-braindead players.

Rangers do not receive any bonuses from stealth, unlike a thief who does have the ability to win 1vXs.

Also, in my experience trap rangers can not handle that many players at once due to the little/no access to stun breaks, low condition clear, and low personal sustain.

To add to that, longbow trap rangers fare even worse because you cannot deal enough damage on neither power nor condition attacks.

So, in conclusion, if you saw a longbow trap ranger pull off a 1v6 against a competent group, either that was the best trap ranger in the game or you are lying.

Dude don’t need to type that long, we all know he is BSing.
The warrior haters and trolls bandwagon has moved to rangers.

Lots of angry QQ here for stuff u already know is true. Please keep on quoting out of context to try and shame. LB4 is easy, but using it smartly can be tough in a group setting if you don’t know what you’re doing. Hence why I said “good” at the beginning. Emotion seems to cloud your judgement.

I’m not fond of quoting excessively, especially on a wall of text that basically goes round and round, emotion involved or not regardless. There is no science involve in using LB4, all come down to common sense. Bad players will not have that even you scream at them. There is nothing smart about timing LB4 either, just good old common sense and being a good player.

Are u daft? No one said CC wasn’t built in. And then actually “/facepalming” hahaha. I’m seeing forum scrub tactics from 2005. When I say CC engi, that means I chain immob targets for my group, use frost grenades and glue bomb to keep target within group DPS.

Because there is no such thing as CC(crowd control) engineer. It’s like calling Thief, CC Thief just because they can chain blind with their weapon. The CC skills are built into your kit and part of your dps rotation regardless. Every classes has one form of cc or another in their weapon dps rotation. They are not called CC <insert classes>.

Read what I said again if you’re having eyesight issues. I want new rangers to have to spec into 600 unit kb on LB because they apparently can’t use that power wisely. Comparing rangers to every other class with knockback built in would work if bad and new rangers weren’t specifically a problem in group settings when using LB4 and weren’t as popular as a first profession. Minimize and obfuscate much? I think the bad foundation starts because of how the class is built at early levels..

I don’t have eyesight issues. You are asking for LB4 knockback nerf deep into traits. You and OP are blaming problem of trolls, bads and scrubs at a weapons skill. Such ppl will still do it regardless of level. Providing a foundation by stripping knockback from early level will not help because simply plain scrubs and troll will never listen. Those ppl knows the perfectly basic things “READ” and “LEARN”; and yet they refused to do so, so only god knows what can help them.
As if there is no bad Guardians, Warriors, Ele, Mesmer, Necro, Engi and Thiefs in a group setting? Lol.

Rangers.. and I do watch to make sure that it’s a ranger.. there’s just something wrong with your playerbase. They’re toxic. Notice no WvW commander relies on them to get up downed people even though nature spirit can instantly res 5 downed people. They call for battle standards instead, they pretend rangers don’t exist. That’s because ranger players never show themselves to be a valuable member of the team. They don’t slot the water field heal when it would be useful, they don’t slot the nature spirit for an emergency zerg res when it would be useful, they’re just not team players though they have some skills that could make them team players. It’s something about the player base itself.

That is because battle standard CANNOT DIE, ALMOST INSTANT and AWESOME DPS BUFFS.
You need to cast the Spirit (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spirit_of_Nature), then click again to res (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nature%27s_Renewal).
It’s a slow 2 clicks, and it has chance to die in between. It has a low hp pool that essentially can be one or two shotted even with trait.
Plus it has limited uptime.

A good Spirit of Nature with more HP has to be traited, while giving up dps traits. A Battle Standard doesn’t.

Another reason is Battle Standard can be casted on ground away from the caster (the warrior). While Spirit of Nature is casted on the feet of where the ranger stand. Most of the time when there is a group of downed player, means there is an aoe within that area ticking damage or incoming even more damage. The ranger will probably ended up suicide casting it. You can’t precast it first cuz, you don’t know when player will be downed (spirit limited uptime) and spirit low hp pool will means it will get killed by whatever downing the players within vicinity (it has short range after all).

Comm doesn’t ask because it’s inefficient and inferior to Battle Standard which also has a blast finisher and buffs. You can only blame aanet as to why the design of the spirit is inferior to battle standard, period.

Career CC engineer that knows how to fight in groups. I’ve seen lots of flamethrower engineers noob it up with the knockback as well, but it’s been disproportionately rangers.

Lol, CC engineer? as in crowd control? What to crowd control?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bomb_Kit 3 out of 5 skills are CC
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Grenade_Kit 2 out of 5 skills are CC
The two kits that Engi use to dps. They have inherent CC. Throw in turrets and your toolbelt for even more CC. You don’t even have to trait for CC. Just be a dps and the cc is built in. Lol …. /facepalm

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Big_Ol%27_Bomb
As if this never been misused, FREQUENTLY in dungeons or any fights.

Yes you are witnessing more rangers, it’s because there are more ppl playing rangers after recent update.

Scrubs will face roll 1-5 skills regardless what class they play.

All I’d really like is for LB 4 to be a knockdown or crumbling daze but only in early stages. I think the knockback should be made into an adept or even master level trait. it could even be a minor, but I think having LB 4 knockback right out of the gate is kind of what makes for a bad group play environment.

Wth did i just read? Almost every classes has knockback come right out of the gate. GW2 primary skill system is based on weapons.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Knockback
Almost every classes has it given the appropriate weapons, with the exception thief and necro.

To tell the truth, a good LB 4 is kind of hard to time…

Wth, lol, what hard to time? Just don’t press 4. Nothing high skill about it. How hard is it not to press 4? Seriously. Spoken like a true scrub.

I’ll give you all an example you can test. Go to the Champ Troll cave in Gendarran Fields. Solo that Champ. Solo giants, solo anything. Let a low level ranger show up and it’s like you have to turn your brain off, stand still and just press 1. That’s usually what the ranger’s doing since the pet can tank all the attacks, and the NPC is aggroed by it’s armor and health easily and facing backwards (since now pets attack targets from behind. I think that was one of Robert Hrouda’s suggestions). If an enemy’s AI is designed like that, to not go after the ranger instead of it’s pet, how can anyone learn anything crucial for deep mechanical knowledge in PvE? I don’t hate on NPE, but my NPE was trying to solo vets and champs and dying, then learning tells and killing them.

If this what happens to you when you play rangers, you are one of those. I out aggroed my pet almost everytime. Any good ranger that knows how to play and put down damage properly can out aggro their pet. Yes, including Bear. This is where LB4 will come in handy. Rangers that can’t manage their pet are scrubs. This goes for every classes with pet on ANY mmorpg, not only gw2.

The zerker meta and how to change it.

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Pino.5209

Pino.5209

The problem isn’t the meta, meta is about efficiency and effectiveness. The core problem is the mechanic design of the game that encourages it. This includes bosses’ fight mechanic and the combat+damage+buffs mechanic of every single classes.
It can’t be fixed overnight or even at all without changing the game as a whole.

The same thing on how mess up the whole condition damage vs. white damage fiasco.

Aanet has tried to fix this by nerfing stats and sometimes classes, latest victims of this would be warrior’s adrenaline and ele’s fgs. It simply won’t work.

I don’t think you can fix this zerk meta preference at all. It will drive away players in huge numbers. Given this is B2P cash shop game, they had to choke loots and rewards in a severe way. OP suggestion will drive the game more into trinity system but still in grey area which will cause encounter longer, while aanet isn’t willing to dish out better rewards for encounters everywhere. No1 is gonna do, for instance, an AC exp for 40mins+ with lousy loots.

All you left with is play the game for what it is. Yes, the pve does feel cheap n hollow. You can blame zerk all you want. Pvp side ain’t any better with bunker+condi. The crappy spvp map design. Eotm train chuchu party, map that basically encourage it.

Can’t fix it. It’s done. Just play. Dress up your toons, that’s about it.
