“Bag of Pocket Change”; “Bag of Lint and a few Coins”; “Bag of Loose Change”; “Bag of Coins We Found In the Couch Cushions”
Any of these are more appropriate than “Bag of Gold”
What is bad is those of us who do not want to use the exploits feel like we have to when the rest of the group does because it took us so long to get into a group, we don’t want to have to go back to sitting in LA. Also, if you leave a group and piss off the people you were with, you could be blacklisted when you try getting a group again. I was in one pug who used the aoe the seal. I didn’t think that was too horrible as you could actually target it and damage it with regular damage, not just aoe. The group who wanted to do the dredge walk through the wall thing…that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, there is a thread to report the exploits and bugs in FotM. Hopefully they are going to fix things.
They need to fix the drop rate while they are at it to minimize the “grind” which they themselves have said is no fun. My husband has had 3 vials drop, and I have not gotten anything. Look how many people have never gotten a ring. Fix the bugs, but make it worth actually playing.
Even tabbing out and using the lfg website isn’t foolproof. There isn’t always someone on the level you want, the group has filled, etc. It IS difficult to find a group. My husband and I are looking for a new guild because the people in ours have quit logging on. There isn’t ever more than 4-5 people online anymore in our guild. It’s also difficult to find a guild unless you just join one spamming in LA.
In the underwater fractal, the last 2 times I have done it, the second cage will not open after we kill the kraits. We go to the third cage and kill the kraits and go back to the second one. A krait appears out of nowhere and we kill it and the cage opens. This was not happening before when we would do this fractal.
A necro in our pug group feared the Mossman and stuck him into the terrain. The necro purposely did it and said he always does it that way to make it easier. The Mossman was stuck and was still attackable but was not able to run around or stealth. (He was hung up on the little dock thing was what it looked like.)
Also, on more than one occasion, I or a group member has fallen in Colossus and died and not been visible to group mates. That has been mentioned here but wanted to bring it up again that it isn’t a fluke, has happened to us multiple times as well.
I hate dungeons and yet I have to do them for the monthly. Same difference. Sometimes, if you want something in life, and it is important enough to you, you do things you don’t like. I hated the Mad King’s Clock Tower. I wanted the achievement. I spent hours doing the stupid thing and finally got it. Yeah, it got easier the more I did it but I still never liked it. I wanted the achievement though so I did it. Many people have done the map completion so it is possible. It isn’t supposed to be easy.
If they make people do the same content repeatedly (grinding), people are going to find ways to shorten the process. Especially when the time/difficulty/reward do not match.
Message suppression needs to be removed period. The ones who abuse it (gold sellers) don’t seem to have a problem and can send message after message. Suppression only hurts legitimate players, especially those lfg. Seriously, just get rid of suppression. People will report and block the spammers. The rest of us could actually ask for a group or talk in map chat.
You know you can put a target on the real one, right? The real mesmer is also usually the one running around while the clones are standing still. People need to stop calling for nerfs just because they have a hard time against a class. Fix the bugs and bring a couple of the classes UP to par, not nerf a few into the ground. And no, I don’t play a mesmer, I play a ranger.
They should make a /city chat so all city chats would be linked together. That way you wouldn’t have to just sit in Lion’s Arch.
I always thought this game was a bit quiet without any kind of server-wide chat channel. Even a trade channel or something that allows people to chat where ever they are in the world.
It would be really useful as well to have a worldwide channel. You could continue to play while waiting for a group. If they needed a “call to arms” to go help in wvw they would reach people. Being pigeon holed into LA is boring.
They should make a /city chat so all city chats would be linked together. That way you wouldn’t have to just sit in Lion’s Arch.
I really like this idea. I would even buy gems to purchase a skin storage closet if that is the direction they wanted to go. Make it like the collection tabs except for armor and make it account wide.
I did a search and didn’t see any posts about this so sorry if it has been mentioned before. (I find it hard to believe it hasn’t because I can’t imagine I am the only one this bothers.)
At the end of sPvP matches, it is really difficult to look at the scoreboard to see how you did, see ranks, etc. because even though the match is over, the fights are still going on. You can stand there and look at the scoreboard and die or keep fighting and not see the scoreboard. Why not when one side gets 500, have everyone “stunned” or otherwise immobilized until it loads the new map. It gives everyone a chance to look at the scoreboard.
I know some are going to say the scoreboard doesn’t matter, and sPvP doesn’t matter, etc. But to some of us it does. This is where I practice to learn the maps and my profession as well as what other professions can do so I know better how to fight them. Some people do care about reading the scoreboard.
If you think you did not get it, please check your spam folder. Mine and my husband’s both went to the spam folder. We were both able to do the survey. I am sure they would have sent it to everyone. I have seen posts from others where it was in their spam as well.
I didn’t realize that there WERE passion flowers until reading the forums today. I have picked many, many passion fruits and have never seen a passion flower.
A few level 85 champion turkeys running around that drop handfuls of exotic poultry meat would be a nice touch.
With a new cooking recipe for Roasted Butterball. The only downside is, after you eat Roasted Butterball, your character’s movements get slower and slower until they unbutton their pants and fall asleep watching keg brawl!
I agree the gem shop is lackluster. I would buy the costumes if there were some good ones. I bought them in GW1. Also, make them like GW1 so I can wear my stat armor but show my pretty clothes. I did buy the witch costume and love it except the hat makes me look bald.
I would buy minis if I could see what I was getting. I am not a gambler, I don’t like surprises. I bought the Halloween minis because I knew what I was getting.
How about musical instruments? LotR had instruments and you could even download music and put together a band and play actual songs. Wouldn’t have to be that elaborate, but instruments with their own song would be cool. Or make it like the pipe organ in game where if equipped, you get keys to play your own music.
Toys. A ball to throw. Party favors that you blow that uncurl and make a noise.
I keep hoping to see new things in the shop. When something catches my eye that is pay X amount and get what you see, I’ll buy it. If it is pay X amount and you have a very slim chance of getting it, I’ll keep money and buy something “real” with it.
Lvl 80 ranger. I use shortbow/longbow and traps.
Open world pve. I do pretty well solo or grouped. I use a bear and arctodus pets. Easy to tag things in dynamic events with traps and barrage. With the exception of the new zone, if I aggro more than one thing, it is not necessarily a death sentence.
In dungeons, pets are a nuisance. They won’t stayed stowed if you take damage or enter combat. You can put them on passive but if you move, they move, and they tend to move way out in front of you and step on blossoms or aggro mobs. I can function in dungeons, but it takes a lot of work to manage the pet. The pet is a problem in the dredge fractal so I put him on passive. The pet was gaining aggro and making it not possible to drag the golem to the lava. Because I have to keep my pet passive for some fights, this means I do less damage. In the swamp fractal, I play crowd control for spiders and drakes so there is the trade off.
WvW again is ok. During a seige, I will run up, hit entangle, throw my traps on the wall and then barrage. That is fun. Some people do not know how to get out of entangle and will stand there and die. I try and stay at range during big fights and pick out people that are lower health. I use wolf pets for the fear. It has saved me from being stomped before. Not every time, but when it works, you really feel like you pulled off a miracle!
For pvp, I do surprisingly well. I didn’t at the beginning. It is a whole different mindset and way to fight since the fights are usually 2v1 or 2v2. They can be bigger but… I can beat some thieves and not others. To be fair, I can say that about pretty much every class now that I think about it. It just takes practice to get better at it.
I can’t comment much on thief except it is fun to play to about lvl 10 which is where mine currently is. I like her, she is fun, but I guess I don’t like her as much as my ranger. I never did anything with her other than pve.
I wouldnt mind a tug of war map. Kinda like the mini game Reaper rumble.
You each had a base that spawned skeletons to attack othe opposing side. Things you did in the game could increase how quickly they spawned but the end goal was to take othe the enemy base…and increasing or helping your units just made that easier to win fights. But in a mechanic or two to allow a comeback and you got yourself a solid pvp map imo.
I like Reaper’s Rumble too! It was a lot of fun! Would be nice if they added something similar. The other Halloween one (can’t think of the name) I didn’t play as much but I know quite a few people seemed to enjoy it as well.
It was fun. I remember my first dragon fight in DAoC, my first Ragnaros fight in WoW, and this had that same feeling. The best part of this was nobody had done it before, there were no guides on the web telling you the steps or what to do. This was a bunch of people fighting and figuring out what needed to be done, helping your guildies get on your overflow, rezzing people, and talking in vent and map chat.
The event wasn’t perfect but it was fun and had that epic feel to it.
The culling was so bad you couldn’t see karka, aoe circles, green slime, and sometimes other players until you were dead. I leveled up my “No One Left Behind” achievement rezzing people. No biggie, the lag was bad. A lot of people wanted to be there to play the event. I see that as a good thing! And it takes less time to rez someone than it takes for them to run back.
I didn’t get a precursor and I don’t feel like a loser.
People were talking and cracking jokes during the event in map chat. People were helping rez each other up when we would die. People were excited about what was going on. It was laggy, culling was atrocious, but people were having fun and amazed at the epicness of what was going on.
As I said, I did not get a precursor. I personally don’t know anyone who did. I sold one exotic on the TP for 1g76 and salvaged the other and the rares for ectos towards the legendary I am working on.
Am I glad I got something out of the chest? Of course I am. Would I have run the event if Anet had said “There will be no loot at the end”? Yes, I would have. I do not feel like a loser because I am still having to farm for my precursor. I think it’s great the prices are down. I think it’s great some people got some nice stuff. Better luck to me and others next time.
NOBODY in my guild got a precursor and I only saw 1 person in my overflow link one in chat after looting the chest. He got Dusk.
I really don’t understand. People complained because the Halloween event didn’t drop good enough loot. They complained because the one time Halloween event was “just” a cut scene.
Guess what? Anet apparently listened. They gave us a 3 hour long event AND decent rewards. Yet this STILL isn’t good enough!
I have seen posts where people were online and didn’t go to the event because they thought it was going to be lame and then they are griping because they would have gone if they knew the loot would be good. Sheesh!
I was there for the three hours, the lag, the disconnects, the deaths to invisible things because of culling issues. I didn’t get a precursor. I am still having to farm. Big deal! It’s a game.
It is like complaining that your neighbor won the lottery and you didn’t when you didn’t even buy a ticket! You shouldn’t get free stuff if you weren’t there. Sorry you weren’t there. If you think that an item in game is worth $250 but you had to go to work and miss the event, then I guess you should have skipped work unless you get paid more than $250 a day.
Anet can’t win! No, it wasn’t a perfectly implemented event. But they did seem to take in feedback from the Halloween event. Some people are just never happy and wouldn’t be even if Anet sent them a free precursor in the mail. Then it would be “I didn’t get the one I wanted. I got the one that is flowers and rainbows but I wanted the other one.”
It shows as unknown when someone has not logged in since a patch, reset, or new build.
I wish there was a capture the flag map.
I have thought about this and I don’t think they could do it because there are no healers. Think about it, if everyone focus fires the one guy, bunker or not, he is going to die. I like capture the flag but I haven’t figured out a way they could do it because of the healer thing. Then throw in class mechanics. Do we let thieves stealth? Do we let mesmers stealth? Do let mesmers use portals? I can see it now, one side has all mesmers and a thief. The mesmers make a portal line from one side to the othr and the thief portal hops and nobody ever sees it! lol Ok, so I was exaggerating there. But seriously, I don’t know how they could do capture the flag.
Also, the type they have in both Warhammer and Rift where your team holds an object and you keep taking ticks of damage until it finally kills you and someone else has to pick it up… The longer your side holds it, the more points you get. It is fun too, but again…no healers so dunno if it could work either.
At I believe lvl 2, you can also enter The Mists by using the icon at the top of your screen.. This has a swirly purple Asura Gate to Lion’s Arch. From there take the gate to Rata Sum or Metrica Province (I can’t remember what the portal’s name is). That is the Asuran start area. Rata Sum is the city, Metrica is the start zone.
Now see, my little Asura has to wear boy clothes! Charr girls too. I would like something a little more feminine. I don’t need a chainmail bikini or a leather bustier but something that differentiates me from the male Asurans would be nice. I have settled on TA armor for now because it has more of a feminine flare I think.
I found a nice little spot to collect items I need for the legendary I am working on. I can also collect at nodes when they pop up. I prefer my new spot to Orr any day.
My husband is Australian and we are moving back there next year so yeah, I get ya on the timezone thing!
I was talking to my husband after seeing all the negativity on the forums. A little backstory before my suggestion:
We were able to attend the event. It was very laggy, culling was bad, everyone dying left and right to things we couldn’t see. I leveled up my achievement “No One Left Behind” from all the rezzing I did. We did get the chest at the end. We did get exotics, rares, and the 20 slot. We did not get precursors. We had a guildie dc. He was able to get back on luckily. We were glad we were able to make it and we do feel bad for those who were not and for those who disconnected.
My suggestion for future “one time events” is this:
The event occurs over the course of 1-2 days every 4 or 6 hours, whichever is deemed as best. This makes the event either available 6 times a day or 4 respectively. You would get an achievement that would be account wide for completing the event. You could run it as many times as you like but would only receive credit and loot once.
This would give all parts of the world an opportunity to participate. This would give those who missed out or dc’d another shot at doing it. Having the account achievement would keep people from running it and looting multiple times or taking alts and getting more than their share. Having several opportunities to do it might help with the lag and overloaded servers and guildies and friends not being able to get in the same overflows.
I really like this game. I am not crazy about the addition of a gear treadmill. I do love the new fractals. The event itself (if we pretend it was smooth) was actually pretty amazing. The concept was really good, the implementation was just incredibly rocky. I hate to see all of the negativity. I would like the game to continue as I refuse to go back to WoW and the other games I have tried just did not hold my interest for long since DAoC. That is why I am making this suggestion and I hope it is considered by the dev’s.
It’s brand new so yes, people are enjoying it. Doesn’t mean people want to do it 1000 times to get enough bits to buy gear. And doesn’t mean the next “fun” thing that comes out people want to do that 1000 times to get new gear either.
Why should people do the old dungeons now? No fancy gear there. Why should people even really bother with the new zone? Get your ascended gear and wait for the next new thing to get ascended 2.0 gear or take your fancy ascended gear and go crush people in wvw with your superior stats.
That is why people are saying they wish it was just cosmetic.
Wish it was visual rewards only and not stats. The dungeon is a lot of fun without having to worry about who will be the first to get the best gear, whether your group is geared well enough or should you kick someone out, and whether or not we need gear score to check people before we deem them good enough to play with.
Well, if we are believing Anet and all the people on the boards who keep saying it isn’t THAT much of an upgrade, then how are the people who don’t have it going to slow you down? If it is so insignificant that we shouldn’t be upset by it, then why would you care if everyone has it or not in your group?
Also, if you see someone’s gear that you like, I dunno, maybe ask them? It isn’t hard to send them a message. Most people would probably answer if you asked.
Had a lot of fun with the fractals so far. The swamp one makes me want to gouge out my eyes but the rest are cool! Even with the swamp one, all of them are cool bcause it isn’t a tank and spank. You have to pay attention and fill out a role. Figure out what to do, not just spam buttons.
I do wish there was something that told about each fractal. The Charr was pre-searing. Cool. But a little backstory would be nice for each one.
My favorite is the underwater one! Only 2 of us made it to the last room. We figured out what to do and ended up killing the boss. We then went back and got the rest of our group so they could loot. They were so surprised that we were able to finish it just the two of us. It was awesome!
There are also people who don’t have the time to grind farm it who may want to log on for a little bit and run a set of fractals. I don’t think you will really have a bad time getting a group. I am a ranger, and yeah, I ran it with a guild group but I actually felt I was contributing in some of the fractals, especially the swamp one which is hideous. I was using traps, aoe’s, entangle etc to help our wisp runners have a clear path. I was better at it than the other classes we had. Woohoo! lol Don’t give up. You don’t want to go with the snobby elites anyway!
Yes, my husband and I got DC’d from the dungeon. Meant we couldn’t rejoin our group. Sucked. We were on our second fractal.
Really enjoying the ones we have gotten so far…except the swamp. Alot of fun, and FUNNY! Cat Golems…really? And the names…. The dungeon is very well done…except the swamp. Ugh! The second part of the swamp one though was visually cool. I groaned when we got an underwater one but it is my favorite one so far! (Must have been the buff we rangers got!) Seriously though, don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t done it, it is FUN!!! Love it that most of it doesn’t seem to be tank and spank either.
Must be nice. I am still waiting for my letter from her. Guildies got one, not me. Freakin’ postal service!
Who lives in a pineapple under sea?
I want a seahorse pet. His special ability can be bubble blowing!
Heck, if you watch Big Bang Theory, even Raj will tell you Aquaman sucks!
I guess with 4 fewer sharks now in Capricorn, we can all be mer-rangers and camp the ruins!!!!
I can’t wait to go swimming so I can use my new and improved Splinter Shot! Ok, seriously, I will admit this even though it is going to make me sound like a newb. I had to google “GW2 Splinter Shot” because I had no idea what it was. I knew it wasn’t on my shortbow or longbow. Harpoon gun…..oh yeah, the thing I try not to use because I spend as little time getting my hair wet as possible!
I was hoping to be able to stow my pet. I was hoping when I am downed my pet actually might come heal me up instead of just drooling on me. I was hoping they might reverse their little shortbow nerf. I wasn’t hoping for much, and what I got was less than that.
A ranger pet can easily get you killed in a dungeon as well. They run ahead of you, won’t stay stowed when you tell them to…
All of the classes are “easy”. For solo leveling and endgame dungeoing I would say guardian or warrior.
Well, the original post said the update would be today. And it is quoted here http://www.guildwars2junkies.com/page/2/ . However, if you go find the source page for that quote, the date has been changed from the 15th to the 16th. All of the posts where I know it said the 15th, now say the 16th.
There is a post called “The most important change for sPvP” where a mod still refers to “today’s patch.” So who knows. Maybe Anet doesn’t even know.
So, I guess we just go about our business and we’ll be surprised. People like surprises right?
Yeah, there are definitely maps I prefer over others. Hopefully nerfing the sharks will help a bit with Capricorn. I don’t mind playing rotating but, like you, there are times I would prefer to play my one or two favorite maps.
Edit: Fixed spelling error
Why shouldn’t they take inventory space?
Why should they? They don’t contribute anything.
Neither does my quaggan tonic.
Your tonic is a consumable. I hope your minis are not. I play a ranger. My ranger pets do not take an inventory slot. My equipped town clothes do not take a slot. My secondary weapon does not take a slot.
Another possibility could be related to skimpiness of armour. Equiping armour which reveals more than a certain proportion of skin results in the debuff “Embarassment”, which has the visual sign of the player blushing (the brightness of the blush would be related to proportion of skin revealed). At higher levels of “Embarassment” the player would also run away from other players and hide.
To counter this, there would be the infusion “Self-confidence”, so that the higher the level of “Self-confidence” the skimpier the armour that could be worn without ill effect.
This could also mean that Anet could introduce ascended gear so skimpy that it would make TERA gear look staid and conservative by comparison. In order to be able to equip this armour at all, the player would neeed the highest level of infusion: “Total self-confidence”.
Only if my little Asura gets a little school girl outfit! People would grind for the infusions so their humans and norns could wear pasties and g-strings!
8% is not significant.
How about if your boss offered you an 8% raise? I, for one, would love it! You know why? 8% is not insignificant.
Some good ideas here. I love the gravity and awkward silence debuffs! The infusion for gravity could be helium. With enough helium, you would just float to the top of the jumping puzzle. For awkward silence, what would the infusion be called? Personality? Outgoing? Extrovert?
