You guys are right. They should tell us when they are going to start maintenance and to make everyone happy all over the world, they should do this:

They say the patch is on the 28th. As soon as it becomes the 28th at the international date line, they should take the servers offline to patch. Even if it isn’t ready yet, shut them off. Everyone would know it was the 28th! So, leave the servers off all day and do what they need to do and turn them on when it’s ready. That way nobody gets that annoying, un-fun new build message. Nobody can disagree that the patch was being done on the 28th (but I bet someone in Europe would point out that technically it was the 27th for the US so that wasn’t fair!)

Do you see how ridiculous it is yet? Watch a movie, read a book, go grab something to eat. Play the game!

I look at it like it’s the cable company. They tell you they will send a guy out between 9-5 on the 28th so you know what time frame to expect. They don’t tell me a timezone because I can correctly assume they will use the time zone the cable company is in unless they said differently.

So Arenanet saying they will patch on the 28th means to me sometime between 12:00 am and 11:59 pm PST.

I got two of them as well so I used the “Report This Post” feature.

The Grove and Rata Sum are the 2 I think that look the most different from the video. I actually like the cities we have in game (except Charr-I think it is ugly). I did notice some different hairstyles when they showed the characters standing there. I want some of those hairstyles! They are not available in game and are cute!

I’m pretty angry because I didn’t get The Horseman’s Reins this Halloween either.

So far I haven’t seen any MMO doing seasonal events like Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 is far superior in this.

I always enjoyed WoW’s holiday stuff. Rift’s Fae Yule is a lot of fun. They have slalom sledding and running over snowmen just to name 2 events! It is so much fun! What I really like about Rift’s event that differs from GW2 is that for participating in the event, you get snowflakes. You use the snowflakes to buy the minis, armor, costumes, mounts, decorations for dimensions (housing), etc. If you want something badly enough, you participate enough to get the snowflakes and buy it. No RNG lotto chests.

Not to say I don’t like some of GW2’s Wintersday. I like the jumping puzzle. I think it is frustrating but it is “pretty”. I did manage to do it. More than once. Not on first try. I think the winter costume is adorable. Very Victorian looking. The mini dungeon (events) have been fun and not too difficult. My husband and I can do them together and they aren’t a “one time” thing so he isn’t missing out while he is at work. I tinkered around with my chef to discover new recipes. Cute items, I just wish crafting was worth doing for something other than being a completionist. I like the background music for the Wintersday stuff. Has that Christmasy sound. That said, I enjoyed Halloween more EXCEPT I like it that the dungeon event for Wintersday changes and isn’t just do over, do over, do over.

There is a warning. It says when you enter it is recommended for 5 players.

WoW pets could knock rogues out of stealth if you got them on the rogue before he stealthed. He could vanish again to lose them but you at least had the ability to maybe get him.

There is no difficulty indicator in game. You can go to Dulfy (just google dulfy gw2) and she has a whole list of the puzzles and where they are and how to do them if you need help. For some people, there are some that will just be impossible. Others are pretty simple. Many have beautiful scenery.

I am the type of person that hates to be bad at anything or can’t do something. I will spend hours if I need to on a puzzle. If I get frustrated (mad), I leave it and come back to it later. The later may be a few hours, days or weeks depending on how mad it made me. I didn’t have that option with the clock tower.

Here is a video I made for a contest. The theme is jump puzzles. I make my husband do them with me. He doesn’t particularly like them either!

The reward positively sucks so you aren’t missing anything. I love jumping puzzles and this one was frustrating at first until I calmed down and realized I didn’t have to go as fast as I could. Like I said, I love them but I understand some people really hate them. I despise dungeons but it is my understanding some people enjoy them. (shudder!)

You won’t miss anything by not doing it except the achievement. If you really want the achievement, relax a little. You have more time than you think you do.

The toy ventari is now on the gem cash shop for 350 gems. I guess make 2 and buy 3 is what they are thinking we will do. Some will….I won’t.

They seem to be putting them on the cash shop. The ventari toy is there for 350 gems. So I guess they expect you to make 2 and buy 3.

The little piece of charr fence against the stone wall wouldn’t break for us. We thought we were bugged and we thought it was that fence. We smashed all the trees and everything. There was one little norn house that looked like a little hill of snow that we overlooked. Smashed and BAM, got the achievement!

This thread tells it all. According to Anet you get enough to make 2 of the toys. This bites.

They knew everyone liked the minis at Halloween. So the next event instead of being able to purchase them, they stuck them in chests. Ok for those who like to gamble, annoying for those of us who don’t but hey, we could still purchase them off the trading post if we didn’t feel like throwing away real money on lottery boxes. So this time, they make them account bound like we are dumb enough to think “Man, I just have to have those minis and I can’t buy them directly and I can’t buy them off the trading post so please take this wad of cash so I can open boxes and hope I get one, I mean 6, because the drop rate of everything else in this game is so high, it’s sure to happen!”

No thanks. I won’t bother trying to get minis anymore. I actually probably won’t be purchasing anything from the trading post anymore. This left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Each time they are taking the stuff we (the customers) want to have the most and making it a gamble. Went from being able to outright buy the minis, to buy them off the TP from other people who felt like gambling to….this. No thanks. This patch has not put me in a festive mood so I guess I’ll go do something else.

Sea of Sorrows is the unofficial oceanic server. We are moving to Australia next year (my husband is an Aussie) so we chose Sea of Sorrows so when we move, we will have people to play with during Australian primetime and for now, we benefit from North American primetime. There are usually people around no matter what time of day we are on.

That song is so catchy! I had never heard it before and liked it so much after watching your video the other day, I had to find it and download it. Now it gets stuck in my head and I find myself humming it! My kids also think your “singing kitty” is funny!

I still get tons of chests. I get no keys unless I make an alt and do up to step 10 on their story for the reward key. There are other threads about the keys being nerfed as well.

Also, I don’t think it is so much that people LOVE the chests. It seems as though the things that people do enjoy buying outright, they are sticking into the chests with no other way of obtaining them except to take a gamble on the chests/keys.

WvW and PvP I use wolves. The fear occasionally saves me from being stomped.

PvE I use brown bear and arctodus. They are tanky and I like them and their names are Moon Pie and Whackadoodle and I am just emotionally attached. lol

In water I use jellyfish. I try to be in water as little as possible and I like the jellyfish the best out of the water pets. No other reason.

Dungeons….hmmm…in most dungeons I hate using my pets at all so I probably have it on passive whatever I am using.

Love watching all the videos! So much creativity!

For anyone relating “pets are for life” in real life…puh-lease! Do you take your pet to work? Grocery shopping? Out to dinner? Christmas shopping at the mall? To the movies? I bet not. I bet your pet stays at home. He/she isn’t with you 24/7. Essentially he/she is occasionally stowed. Just saying.

And now here we are again. Lottery Chests. I guess it’s obvious our feedback falls on deaf ears and they don’t care about it. They’d rather us gamble our money away instead of just sell us the product straight up. So much for voicing our concerns and hoping things would change.

Voice our concerns with our wallets. If they keep jamming everything in the chests, I won’t buy anything else from the cash shop ever again. They nerfed key drops, nerfed loot drops, added DR to everything…. People bought costumes and minis outright at Halloween. Where were the minis for the next event? Stuck in a chest. I would much rather purchase the things I want outright so I know exactly what I am getting. I have bought bag slots, bank slots, character slots, minis, and costumes. So voice your concerns with your wallet like I plan on doing.

Fine, leave the pet but make it not run 20 feet ahead of me. If it doesn’t trip spider eggs, make it not trip blossoms either. If I back up and am kiting, make my pet back up as well. Make it hit moving targets. Make it dodge roll out of aoe. Fix the other multiple bugs pets have had for forever.

I am not saying I want to stow my pet forever and ever, but if I want to put it away, I would like it to stay there until I take it out. Not pop out during a puzzle, or because I shot a bunny, or whatever.

And I still don’t see how if Ranger X wants to play without a pet, how that affects anyone else. Let the Beastmaster trait line be for super pets. Let the marksman traits be for ranged. Etc. Give us options of ways to play.

I like my pets most of the time, but the issues I already mentioned are reasons I don’t want them 100% of the time.

Arenanet’s description of Rangers: “Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”
It doesn’t emphasize that ranger’s are “the pet class”. It lists pets as one of the things that are in a ranger’s arsenal that can be used.

I like the idea of having them marked AFTER you have found and completed them. And I guess I am getting old because I sometimes DO forget where a particular one is. There are so many, and hopefully more to come!

It would be cool to have different levels within the puzzle. Make it up the first level, get a little chest with a decent reward. The next level would be more difficult with a bigger chest and nicer reward. The last level would be hard with the biggest chest and nicest reward. Everyone could participate and get something.

Or WoW’s low level battlegrounds are way more fun if you have heirloom or twink armor. Not so much fun without.

Read it again slowly…it lasts all day in each city and then when it gets to Lion’s Arch, you can replay all of the previous cities’ events. They are trying to not leave people out this time.

The description says test your balance….icy, slippery platforms? Ugh, that would suck! I just hope it isn’t wind like in Cliffside, I hate wind! lol

If people want to use the pet, great. If people don’t want to, how does it hurt someone else if we were given the option to put them away and keep them put away?

Dredge boss in fractals you have to put pet passive so it doesn’t get aggro and stand in one spot when you are trying to kite. TA, the pet does not break spider eggs but does set off every frickin bloom in the place! Jump puzzles, if you make a big jump and take a little damage, giant pet butt in your face. (Guess I could use a bird or something but I hate swapping and renaming pets just to do a puzzle.) WvW, pet spends more time dead than alive. There are just some times I would take that increase in damage to put the pet in my pocket and leave it there.

I want that dress too! I hope it is town clothes and I hope Asura can have it and I hope you can buy it and it doesn’t come from BL chests.

Notice some of the “blocks” are floating peppermints with a giant peppermint supported by candy canes in the center!

And did anyone watch that video and have to back it up several times when they said Tixx is bringing and “arsenal” of gaiety to the towns. It really sounded like it said something else and I was laughing my butt off!

I am seriously considering deleting my 100+ BL chests out of my bank. I will NEVER buy keys from the cash shop so they are just taking up space.

2. Exploring
3. Races look pretty good
4. Mini games (Keg Brawl, Costume Brawl….need more!)
5. I like being able to combine things in crafting and see what I get

Ok, here is my entry. My husband and I like to do jumping puzzles so we revisited a few of our favorites. I actually made 3 videos and my husband, children and father chose this one as the one they liked best. Hope you all like it as well! (The other 2 videos are there if you want to take a look but this one is my “official” entry! :P )

This is a great idea and I am planning my Off-Broadway (WAY off Broadway!) production! It has been a really long time since I made a video. I am trying to decide on a song…..

I have tried to think of how they could make “capture the flag” work and without healers, I really don’t see how. Everyone just focus fire the guy with the flag and he’s dead. It would be zerg on zerg just killing whoever picked up the flag.

Same with the game mode they had in both Warhammer and Rift where you carry the object and the longer your team holds it, the more points you get, but it also does more damage until you eventually die. Without healers this wouldn’t work either.

Maybe I am short-sighted or something but I don’t think either of those modes would work without dedicated healers.

I think its like Quantum Leap. You don’t really know where or why. You just have to figure out the thing that needs to be done to make the next jump.

I loved Quantum Leap! I am going to think of this when I do fractals from now on. If you get into a pug group with a little Ausra ranger talking to an invisible friend named “Al”, you’ll know it’s me!

They need to let you join keg brawl as groups. That said, they could have town clothes or mini pets or silly titles as rewards for mini games. I like the mini games and would play them without rewards (I play keg brawl). I do wish they would hurry up with more!

Same. And it doesn’t just happen when you wipe. Our group didn’t wipe and yet my food buff kept disappearing. I thought maybe it was switching to the next fractal but no, I think it just randomly disappears.

Doesn’t work with Asura either. It used to as I have been in there once. The last time I was in the area, my husband and I tried to go in and couldn’t.

I agree. I am working toward my legendary and salvage my rares and exotics if the price for ectos compared to salvage means I would be better off taking them apart. Anyway, I have had ZERO exotics for probably a week and a half and very few rares. I might get 1-3 rares in a set of fractals. I get NO exotics or rares doing any type of farming.
