the weekly OS complaint. Anet has really some class, after all the Sky Pirate complaints putting a LS reward in there yet again. Classify it all as you like, it is an achievement in a pvp zone, getting to a chest with pvp rewards. It is pvp. Unfortunate you cannot boost your AP easily, tough luck. The LS meta achievement offers ways to complete for a broad range of playstyles. Is it unfair camping chokepoints? Of cause. Welcome to pvp zones.

Fortunately not everyone thinks like you….a bit of human kindness goes along way. Just because it’s a PvP zone, doesn’t mean people have to forget basic decency. Someone from an opposing server actually helped me find my way near the end of the JP, and for that, I /bow to them.

New Armor Skins !

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

PolarisNova.3867

I like many of the light armor skins, but I really want see new elegant, stylish ones. Along the same sort of vein as Lady Kasmeer’s design. Elegant, detailed, feminine etc.

I played only mesmer and ele for a good while, but recently started rolling medium/heavy armor alts. Medium armor lacks some style…some of it is nice, but the boots…the BOOTS…why are some of them so big and ugly? Medium wearers can be stylish too…where are some nice, slim boots, with a small heel?

I do think there are nice armors, and hats off to the designer/s…but we do need some more variety, and some serious armor, not going off to much into disney land/comical big boots/shoulders.

Gotta love how it’s called an achievement and the OP is upset that he has to actually do some achieving to get it.

How is dodging silly kids because they have nothing better to do than troll people, an achievement?

But…love you as I do ANet…..I am not happy about putting what is a PvE achievement in a place like Obsidian Sanctum. I like JP’s, I like WvW, but I don’t like that fact a Bazaar achievement was put into a WvW JP. I think it was unnecessary to be honest.

Yes it was challenging, but not in a good way, it just highlighted how many sociopaths there are running around Tyria :-P

PolarisNova.3867

I’m sorry but I am really baffled by these kinds of posts. For me the game is getting better…it keeps me playing, I am having fun, I look forward to logging in so I can see what to do next, I even enjoy the Living Story because for me, it does actually make me feel like the world of Tyria isn’t just another stagnant MMO world, with frozen NPC’s uttering the same thing over and over, even months or years down the line, things change, there are new things to do, explore and strive for.

So I say again, I am really puzzled. I’ve played other MMO’s and for me GW2 surpasses them all.

Can we have a break between living stories?

in Living World

Posted by: PolarisNova.3867

PolarisNova.3867

OP I certainly appreciate your point of view, but…..I consider myself casual, and I did miss the whole Molten Facility thing. I don’t mind that at all. Why does it matter if we miss things now and again? The world of Tyria is supposed to be ever-moving forwards after all.

I do share the sentiment that it can be a challenge keeping up with things, but I just don’t mind this at all. I do as much as I can, and enjoy it.

You may not mind it, but some people do, however, and there’s really no good reason to punish people, who have to work or have real-life obligations, for not having enough time to mold into Anet’s ridiculous schedule with the Living Story that’s been happening since May. It effectively cuts out people who want to enjoy a lot of other things this game has to offer but don’t want to miss out on one time events and the really cool items they can get from them.

Yes I can appreciate that, and obviously some people mind it otherwise this thread wouldn’t exist. I’m not sure I agree the schedule is ‘ridiculous’, more very ambitious, and yes the content has been coming thick and fast of late.

But the fact is, an MMO can’t cater to everyone, and I think part of GW2’s issues atm, is that ANet seem to be trying to make everyone happy. It’s not possible, You either cater to very casual players, and the mid-to hardcore players will complain there’s not even content to satisfy them, or you accept that some people will miss some things.

At the end of the day, we are not having to pay extra for these things, so it’s not a case of paying a certain amount per month and not feeling you are getting value for money….this is free stuff. The game is already diverse enough that people can jump in whenever and do these things, asking them to slow down for the ultra casual is not fair for those who can or do put more time into the game.

It is a delicate balance, and I am adult enough to accept I won’t catch everything and that is perfectly okay.

PolarisNova.3867

Too many single player activities in dungeons e.g. running, jumping puzzles, etc

lolwut? :-P Seriously there is plenty to do in groups, I don’t get this point at all.

1 – the community is far too gripey, but I guess that’s MMO’s for you.
2- need more stylish armor. The bulky, masculine, non-feminine stuff doesn’t appeal to me.
3- the personal instance wasn’t what I thought it would be, thus I am hoping for player housing at some point.

GW2 unlikely to get expansions [Interview]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: PolarisNova.3867

PolarisNova.3867

You’re not getting an expansion worth of content, you’re getting filler fluff.

It’s advertised pretty well, I’ll give Arena.NET that – it’s a beautiful illusion that they’re actually working on this game. They’re not and they’re afraid to delve into its issues because they know it’s a ton more work than simply making an instance, a bunch of weapon skins and 3 models you have to interact with 5000 times. But there’s a market for people who love getting ripped off at the gem store and then defend the company because "well at least I’m not paying for expansions kitten ". Yeah, you’re paying 3 times more and getting nothing in return. Oh, the saints of game development!

Mind expanding on what it is you would prefer to see, and what it is you don’t consider fluff? I don’t see dungeons and jumping puzzles, a whole new zone and constant follow-able stories as fluff. Festivals are fluff yes, but they are nice fluff, a bit of fluff is nice.

No expansion will make it a dead game within half a year or less. No amount of living story can give you the effect what a new expansion does.

To you loners/solo players out there…aren’t you playing the wrong kind of game?

The clues in the title MMO…Massive Multiplayer Online…your mean’t to play as a group…that’s the point?

Surely a ARPG would be a better choice of game, those revolve around solo play but you can play co-op if you fancy it…

Yes it’s multiplayer…..not specially group-player. It means there is a massive number of people sharing the gaming world space. And who are you to dictate who plays, and how they play anyway?

Back to OP…..I would generally like to see MUCH HARDER dynamic events. I feel that in general they are far too easily completed. Even the dragon fights are far too easy.

ANet has put a lot of effort into making the dungeons challenging, now please make the open-world dynamic events challenging too (in the level 80 areas).

Though I imagine people would be quick to start thread crying about how hard the game is.

How did this come to this.
What happened to old Arena Net?
Seriously.
Greed? Money? Fame?

What are you talking about? Did you actually read the information?

GW1 was bigger game than GW2 and yet Arena Net managed to sustain it even without micro transactions.
I fail to see how GW2 will gain additional 3 000 000 players to reach the GW1 level without expansions.

How long did it take GW1 to gain that many players, and how long did each expansion take to come out?

What people are not taking into consideration, is that instead of the gap between expansions (GW1 style) the content is trickling out on a fortnightly basis, which means there is no stagnation, the game is active, constantly changing and ever-moving forward. It’s a vision it seems, some players can’t seem to grasp at the moment.

None of this means we won’t get new continents, or re-visit old ones, it’s just a new way of bringing in new content.

PolarisNova.3867

You mean to say there won’t be any of those long gaps of waiting for expansions so I don’t get bored of waiting for new content? kitten ANet you are so mean!

Seriously…..I cannot believe some of the posts in this thread? Do people actually stop and think before they post?

In all the time I played both Aion and LOTRO….I never saw so much CONTENT put into a game in such a short period as I am seeing with GW2. It’s absolutely amazing, some of it may not always be to my cup of tea, though I find myself getting sucked in and doing a lot of it anyway.

I think ANet can do a lot with this, there is nothing saying they can’t add new continents, new races, new skills….some people are just used to the expansion model, that they seem to go into a panic. I personally disliked waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a new expansion to come, so seeing new things (even though it seems almost too fast just lately) so often is amazing to me.

Hats off really to ANet…..the new content we have had so far since release is already enough to fill an expansion, some people just refuse acknowledge that, and STILL the content keeps coming.

I can certainly see the points made about content not being permanent and can appreciate that argument, and I wouldn’t be surprised if ANet are seriously taking this on board.

As long as I get to see player housing at some point…..I am seriously having a blast, and the frequent content keeps me very, very, very busy with this game, almost TOO busy…(but in a good way).

I don’t touch Fractals, ever. I tried it a coupe of times and immediately knew I wasn’t going to like it. I wouldn’t want it removed however, because it is nice to know other people like this content.

I am an open-world farmer. I like dynamic events, and I want to see MORE challenging dynamic events. The key point that attracted me to this game was the dynamic events, was the open-changing world, the fact that there are no stagnant and ever frozen-in-time quests, so for me Living Story, dynamic events….anything that changes the outside world appeals to me greatly.

I’m not a dungeon grinder and will never be, I had my fill of that in Aion.

I can’t believe what I read here sometimes.

As to the OP’s point, I can see where they are coming from, reading these forums sometimes one could almost think the game was hated and loathed. The game is good, and has it’s strengths, and it has it’s weaknesses. It is good to communicate the weaknesses in order to give ANet feedback, but it’s those who are persistently negative that seem to go above and beyond sometimes.
