Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
Not sure if I’ll be able to make it to the festivities, got things planned with family.
I’ll take number 248.

Personally like Sunrise the best, which is what I am going for on my asura guardian. The Moot is a close second, but I sadly don’t use maces.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
I’ve found the final instance to be very easy soloable with my guardian, the toxic adds spawned alongside the Toxic Hybrid were more of a threat to me than the Toxic Hybrid itself.
Been soloing it once or twice everyday since the update went live with no problems.

After i buy 3 sets they make them account bound, but not the ones we’ve already bought – just the new ones.
That seems fair.
You can exchange your soulbound unlimited tools for account bound unlimited tools at a Black Lion Weapons Specialist in any of the major cities.
The dialog option to exchange soulbound unlimited tools will only show up when you unequip your soulbound unlimited tools and put them in your inventory.

If you joined the game after last year’s Wintersday, you will not be able to craft Giver’s armor yet. The Giver’s insignia had to be discovered through a recipe, which you bought from a Gift Exchange vendor during last year’s Wintersday.
You can either buy Giver’s armor from the Trading Post now, or wait until December for Wintersday to return to buy your own recipe for the Giver’s insignia.
Hope this helped!

“You’re dumb. You’ll die and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.”
“Feedback loop initiating!”
“I feel six feet tall!”
Back at release: “Feel my wrath!” spam from Tome of Wrath
But honestly, while some of the voice-overs can get annoying over time by being repeated many times, I’d like people to be able to hear my Guardian’s shouts. Too many times I pop aegis or stability (through “Retreat!” and “Stand your Ground!”) and they just dodge anyway.

These special kill animations are not unique to legendary weapons, certain skills seemingly trigger the kill animations when you kill an enemy and most enemies have their own animations for it.
For example, if you kill a Dolyak with a fire-based attack (or with the Incinerator) it will thrash about and then fall on its side, but if you kill it with a lightning-based attack (or with Bolt) it will stand completely still with lightning effects, as if it were shocked, and then continue to fall on its side.
EDIT: The kill animations aren’t only dependent on the element of a skill, some magic-based skills such as the Guardian’s Whirling Wrath also trigger the lightning kill animation.

To answer your questions:
- Three days ago. Last time before that was several months ago though.
- Zero.
- Haven’t got a clue.
- Not really planning on getting Ascended Weapons, so zero.
- See above. Should the case arise that I do want to get Ascended for some odd reason, I’ve got about 20 crystals saved up in my bank.
- If I recall correctly, the half-set achievement armors (Hellfire & Radiant).
- Bought my Asura T3 Heavy armor with gold, as well as 3 Character Slots and 1 Bank Tab.

While I don’t do much WvW myself, I think it would be reasonable for the Keep Lords and Castle Lords to grant more Dragonite Ore depending on how long the Keep/Castle has been under attack.
Zergs that take the objective very quickly would get a lower amount of Dragonite Ore (3-5 for Keep Lord, 5-10 for Castle Lord) while long assaults would get a higher amount of Dragonite Ore, possibly the maximum amount around 20 for Keep Lords and 40 for Castle Lords.

I never thought about that, I do all my SAB solo.
I guess it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make those spots safe from owls.
Edit:
At least the owls don’t kill you >.>
Actually they do. At times thanks to the owls I kind of entered combat & missed jumps because of the lowered speed, or at least that’s what i thnk happened.
As far as I know your speed does not change in SAB. There is no in or out of combat state like there is in the real world.
You can go back and check the old original patch notes if you want, but I remember Josh discussing this the first time around.
I’m certain being hit by an owl makes your movement speed drop for about a second. Killed me a dozen times.
the system isn’t perfect because we can’t call a script to the exact moment the slow down occurs, so there can be split-second overlaps where you still have our SAB speed boost but you’re also exiting the combat slow down
I would assume this not only causes a short speed boost upon leaving combat, but also a short slowdown upon entering combat.

Birthday Present Issues [merged]
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: PurebladeProductions.4875
Still not resolved for me either, main character created not long after headstart launch
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
my main has also not received her bday present, but my other characters (all made on day 1) have.
the only thing i can think of is makeover kit.
makeover kit ‘reset’ birthday because its considered a new char?
I Did use it… But it would be quite bad if it did,
Did anyone else use a Total Makeover Kit, Self-Style Hair Kit or Name Change Contract on the character missing his Birthday Gift?
I used the Self-Style Hair Kit on my 12 month old character and got no gift.
I used a Total Makeover Kit on my 12 month old main character and got no gift either. I don’t think this would cause problems though since /age still shows 12 months for that character.

Simple suggestion. If you choose that you want to save an Achievement Chest’s rewards for later, allow us to still be eligible for the following achievement chests – if you are already eligible for any following achievement chests.
Why do I suggest this? Because I don’t have any characters that have a use for Radiant nor Hellfire Vambraces and I just missed out on my 3.5k chest because of this.

If the housing rumors are anything to go by, maybe you will be able to place the Zephyr Sanctum Model in your home instance?

I’m glad her shadowstep can’t be dodged.
Isn’t her teleport based on a projectile? She stands still, fires a projectile and if the projectile connects it teleports Mai to the player. I’m fairly certain that you can block and dodge the projectile. Haven’t tried reflection, but I imagine it’d teleport the player to Mai instead, just like other reflected teleport projectiles.

The armor in the pictures are Aetherblade armor sets that will be available in the Gem Store according to Dulfy.
The armor displayed, in order, are:
- Male Norn Heavy Aetherblade armor
- Female Human(or Norn, who knows the difference?) Light Aetherblade armor
- Charr Medium Aetherblade armor
- Male Human Light Aetherblade armor
- Female Human Medium Aetherblade armor

If I see the same person AFK for two full matches, I’ve been reporting them using the botting tag.
I really wish we had a way to report afkers specifically.
What if the person in question was actually AFK and had no time to leave Dragon Ball because of something urgent? It happened to me a few days ago and ended up being AFK through a few matches.
People who do absolutely nothing in Dragon Ball, and thus being AFK, should be kicked to either Lion’s Arch or to the character selection screen after 30 seconds – 1 minute in my opinion.

I’d be fine with spending up to 800 gems per skin if they look good, same price as the Braham and Rox items. I’d spend up to 0 gems per RNG Box for a small chance at a good looking skin, which is what I’ve been doing.

Since day 1 of the Secret of Southsun I’ve had my FPS drop whenever I got too close to Steampipe Steading, the rest of the island was just fine. Ever since the Island Control meta event was released, the entire island has had low FPS just as bad as Steampipe Steading for me.

Definitely gonna buy an unbreakable logging axe, mainly so I can gather every single node I happen to come across without ever worrying about running out of tools on my main.
If it has a cool animation, I’ll take that as a nice bonus
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
Don’t quite get why the chest is always marked on the map. When I first entered Southsun to do the meta event I was confused why there was a chest on the map, and even more confused when I found an invisible object in its place.

Hmm, I hadn’t even thought of such tactics being used, I’m totally gonna try this tactic out the next time I’m playing PvP. I see it’d be a bad thing to be implemented for PvP then, as well as for WvW. ExTribble is right to say this would essentially be a nerf to conditions in PvP.
Perhaps it could be a PvE-only thing? It’s not like NPCs apply conditions in a tactical way.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
I’d really like it if we could have a priority list per character on which conditions should be removed first, rather than the most recently applied conditions.
I’m sure everyone has had a moment where they have multiple conditions on them and want one specific condition removed, and removed the wrong condition instead. Personally, I always want to remove Confusion first because it forces me to either do nothing or get hurt for attacking.
The priority list would simply be a list with all 11 conditions displayed in it and a field in front of it with a number. The lowest numbered conditions get highest priority for condition removal, the highest numbered conditions gets lowest priority for condition removal.
You can enter a number from 1 through 11 to set priority for condition removal to your liking per character. By default, all conditions will be set to 11.
Example of a default priority list:
- (11) Bleeding
- (11) Blind
- (11) Burning
- (11) Chilled
- (11) Confusion
- (11) Crippled
- (11) Fear
- (11) Immobilized
- (11) Poison
- (11) Vulnerability
- (11) Weakness
In this example, all conditions are set to 11 and use default condition removal rules.
Example of a modified priority list:
- (4) Bleeding
- (11) Blind
- (4) Burning
- (3) Chilled
- (1) Confusion
- (5) Crippled
- (11) Fear
- (2) Immobilized
- (4) Poison
- (5) Vulnerability
- (5) Weakness
In this example, Confusion will always be removed first if it is present.
Bleeding, Burning and Poison are all set to 4, meaning it doesn’t matter which of the three gets removed first – default condition removal rules apply to them, after higher priority conditions.
The same goes for Crippled, Vulnerability and Weakness.
Fear and Blind are set to 11, meaning they take lowest priority and use default condition removal rules after all other conditions.
What do you guys think? Do you think this would be a good or a bad addition to the game if it were added, and why?
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
TBH absolutely people come and steam roll every Meta Event no matter what level the zone it. do you think many people even know how the Jormag fight works at all?
Judging from the amount of people that die from Icy Grave, not many.
As for downscaling, I believe it doesn’t account for the Weapon Strength value found on weapons. I don’t have any evidence of this, but try equipping level-appropriate weapons for the zone you are in and you’ll find you’re doing damage that’s more on par with what it should be for the level you’re downscaled to.
The same thing would go for using weapons with low Weapon Strength values when you’re upscaled to a higher level. You may have noticed you do far less damage than you’d expect to when upscaled from a low level in WvW.
Of course, I could be totally wrong about this
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
So to others in Southsun a few questions .
How long have you farmed for crates?
How many crates have you gotten?
Have you farmed Southsun previously for anything else?
-Haven’t farmed for crates.
-Have gotten 8 crates so far.
-Nope.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
How about every stat combination that was possible with exotic trinkets?
I still wonder how ANet will handle the ascended weapons and armor since they use Runes and Sigils, and there are a lot of those available…
If they just add both an upgrade slot and an infusion slot on armor and weapons, then that’d make me wonder why that wasn’t done for the ascended trinkets.
Ah well, we’ll find out someday.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
Im happy to be upscaled but the best part of being on southsun is the amount of gathering you can do.
thats the part we miss on when upscaled….
Its a terrible feeling walking past an Ori or blooming passoflora node
not complaining but still disappointed that my upscaled alt cant have it….Why can’t you? You mean they have a level limit on gathering there? kitten that’s what I was looking forward to.
Orichalcum Ore nodes require Orichalcum Mining Picks, which require you to be level 60 to be able to use. (Blooming) Passiflora nodes require Mithril Harvesting Sickles or better, which require you to be level 45 to be able to use.
Therefore, anyone below level 45 can’t gather Passion Fruit or Passion Flower and anyone below level 60 can’t gather the Orichalcum Ore.

+1; I’d like to have my town clothes not switch out when I take fall damage as well, even if it’s just so I can start tunneling from greater heights.
Also something you may or may not know, you can bind a key for “Toggle Town Clothes” in the options menu to quickly change into or out of your town clothes. It’s at the very bottom of the control options.

i just don’t see the point in moving the entrance if everything else remains the same. if they changed it a bit or something i can understand but it makes no sense at all.
I understand that players who’ve done it will want it to have changed a little, but as someone who prefers to play this 5-man dungeon in a Massively Multiplayer Online Game with friends, rather than with strangers, and isn’t able to do so until exactly today, I am happy that the content inside the dungeon hasn’t changed. I was at first worried about missing out on the original dungeon once the location would change, but luckily for me and my friends that isn’t the case.
Story-wise, I figure the Molten Alliance have created many very similar Molten Facilities and we, the players, have to destroy each Molten Facility one by one. A bit of an aesthetic change to fit with the area the molten facility is in could have been nice though.

Feel free to stop playing MMOs…
MMOG: Massively Multiplayer Online Game. As far as I know, Massively Multiplayer =/= 5 players. This is supposed to be a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, not just a Multiplayer Online Game.
Open world content is what brings out the ‘Massively Multiplayer’ part, not 5-man instances.
As for my experience with the dungeon, I haven’t been able to complete it yet. I went in with two friends, and one had to leave for bed about 75% through the Weapon Testing part. The two of us that were left managed to get through all the Veterans and Elites decently, but at a certain point we just couldn’t handle being outnumbered by Veterans and Elites and had to call it quits.
Before you tell us to LFG for PUGs, we (referring to me and my friend who were left in the end) don’t like PUGs. They’re often either too impatient to wait for us to finish the cutscenes or they like to kick you out at the end so their friends can have loot instead, as has been my experience sadly. We’d much rather play with friends we know we can trust.
I am determined to finish the Living Story though, so I hope I can try again tomorrow with more people – likely three or four again. I must say I did like the dungeon though, especially the weapon testing part. The Embers were less fun in my opinion.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
I’m Dutch myself and I think ANet should spend their time on content updates rather than an event celebrated in only one country. However, given that this is indeed a pretty major event, it’d be nice to have even the slightest thing added. Maybe an Orange Dye Kit with a few dyes from the orange spectrum in the Gem Store? Maybe a (Royal) Crown helmet skin in the Gem Store?
It’s quite short-term with only a few days remaining to mention it now, so I don’t expect anything special from ANet in-game. I’ll likely just mix in some orange dye in all my characters’ armor for a day.
P.S. Holland is only a part of the Netherlands
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
Why would I want to infinitely grind something for better stats? For me, it’d be boring to infinitely grind better stats. Weapon breaking if you have bad luck? Great, now I can buy a new one.
As far as it would go for me, that would end up frustrating me and that would make me leave the game. I play the game to have fun, not to grind eternally. If you get bored, leave the game for a while and you can come back later when you feel like it. There’s probably plenty of other games that have this kind of infinite grinding that you want.
As for Fractals of the Mist, I wasn’t so excited for it. Sure, the fractals are a nice idea but the announcement of a new gear tier after finally getting my Exotic armor was a real turn-down to me. I haven’t even bothered getting all six Ascended trinkets, I’ve only gotten an Ascended Amulet on my main for a Gilded Infusion. I don’t need those extra stats.
As for your listed points:
1) How is getting max gear in three weeks a bad thing? I’d prefer getting max gear in three weeks over infinitely grinding out higher and higher stats.
2) Don’t speak for others, some people do want a Legendary – and they want it precisely for the skin it provides. After I have the stats I want on my character, I start looking for the skin I want and then I aim for that. My current goal is Tier 3 Cultural Armor, and afterwards maybe a nice Sunrise for my Guardian.
3) If you’re bored, I recommend you take a break and come back later. Nothing is stopping you from returning at a later time.
5) You get something fun to do when you play (and like) WvW. Isn’t that what games are about in the first place? Entertainment?
6) Sounds like a plan if you don’t enjoy anything else in GW2.
Not everyone likes to do the same things. Some people like to obtain a cool armor set or a cool weapon skin for their character and set it is a long-term goal, like me. Some people like to obtain ever-increasing stats on their gear, unlike me.
I respect that both sides want those different things, but stat upgrades (alongside increasing enemy strength) become mandatory things to obtain, unlike aesthetic upgrades like skins.
I hope I’ve been able to provide even the slightest bit of constructive discussion, I don’t post often in forums.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
I believe players that argue for having everything of anything soloable have false expectations of how the gameplay experience in an MMORPG is/should be and would be much better served with the selection of great single player games out there.
All I want is to be able to finish the Living Story (and my Personal Story at that) with my friends, not with some random strangers who can’t be bothered to wait and just speedrun through the thing. Sadly, I only have a couple friends who play GW2 as well so it looks like we’ll be trying the dungeon with a group of three players, maybe four.
As for singleplayer games, I’ve played some, but they just end up boring me eventually – something this game doesn’t do for me.
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
If dueling is implemented, I think the best way to do it is to be able to duel anywhere except in the major cities through a duel request. Additionally, there should be an option called “Automatically ignore all duel requests.” that is by default toggled on for everyone. Players who want to duel can turn that option off and will then be open to duel requests.
Duel requests would be sent by selecting a person and right-clicking on the ‘target UI’ at the top of the screen, and then choosing “Request duel” from the list. Players who still have the aforementioned option toggled on won’t have the “Request duel” option available in the list.
If the other person accepts the duel, both players involved in the duel will have an icon over their head that shows other players that they are dueling.
As for griefing, as said before all players will have the “Automatically ignore all duel requests.” option toggled on. If you don’t want to duel random people, keep it toggled on.
These are just my thoughts on how dueling could best be implemented, if anyone has anything (constructive) to add to this feel free to do so.

While I don’t have this problem yet (I’m still using Transmutation Stones to keep special skins usable on my alts) I can see it being a problem once all your characters are level 80 and have a lack of Transmutation Crystals and an abundance of Transmutation Stones.

I’d like more mounts that are just cosmetic (similar to the Riding Broom), but before that I’d rather have everything else fixed; especially culling in PvE, in big events I mostly run around spamming my 600 range cone auto-attack in the hopes of hitting something.

The sections are almost always displayed in alphabetical order to me. Sometimes though, it tends to bug out and show each section in a random order. If that happens, just go to another tab (Discovery, Bank or Collections) and then back to the production tab to fix it.

I’d like to add that a thread in the Asura forum shows that Asura T3 Heavy has also been changed slightly. Link.
- Overall clipping and stretching issues with the armors.
- T3 light: Those “weird shoulder straps” you speak of are supposed to be there, though they are apparently part of the chest armor instead of the shoulder armor rendering players unable to hide and/or dye them separately.
- T3 light: The huge ear covers simply look ridiculous.
- T3 heavy: The metal helmet has apparently been “rubberized”, though I am not certain what is meant by this, I can only assume the pieces over the ears now move with your ears when you enter or leave combat.
- T3 heavy: The shoulder armor has been made smaller. Not quite sure if I like this change or not.
- T3 heavy: The shoulder armor has apparently also been “rubberized”, I can only assume it is meant that they change their shape a little along with your character’s body.
I’ve been trying to farm gold for my T3 heavy set, but I don’t know if I really still want it with the changes. I think a reversion of these armor changes would be appreciated, though I can only speak for myself and not for everyone.

I’m okay with mounts that are only cosmetic (no passive movement speed boost or anything) and can’t be used in combat (to be equipped in town clothing toy slot, similar to the Riding Broom). I personally like to start surfing on my Riding Broom while on my way to a bank vendor or crafting station, because it looks more fun than just running/walking there.
For the people that don’t want to see people riding mounts, add an option that will make mounted players look as if they aren’t mounted and just running/walking normally on their screen as suggested before.
Honestly, I don’t get what the problem would be with purely cosmetic mounts that can be hidden on other players’ screens.

The toy item included with the Fancy Winter Outfit can summon one of those Toy Golems with the 5th skill (before entering Costume Brawl). The Toy Golem it summons only lasts a few seconds before it explodes though, so it can’t be this if it stayed for over an hour.
