Anet kitten loves Tarnished Coast

The problem remains that some are still considering the actions of one person or a group of people as a holistic depiction of whatever server said people are on. Until we can abolish this generalization I think we will keep running into these “discussions” on the forums.

I do have all the gear/trinkets/sigils already as I was running something similar previously. I know 60 gold isn’t really ridiculous but my biggest challenge is keeping my wife out of my bank stash…

Divinity runes are nearly 10G each right now and there’s just no way I’m paying that. Any suggestions on a different set of runes?

@Covenn Well said. Again, no malevolence here. I’m just eager to learn more so we can give you a bigger challenge next time.

@letoll I don’t really care how high you ticked I still want the pain. It wasn’t meant as an insult, I’m just saying don’t patronize us.
@yshyr I admit, I don’t know where TC was this week. I think an unintended consequence of this new matchmaking system will be that people know they might get an easier week next time so they’re more willing to sit it out. In the Tier system it wasn’t likely going to get any easier from week to week so you had to work hard knowing that.

I had a lot of fun on this our last night together. We’ve learned a lot and made some changes. I want to openly apologize for the puking on corpses tonight but zhaitaffy and beer does strange things to me.
SoR: Please bring your “A” game next time. You might not mean it as an insult but I want an honest look at what “T1” is about. Don’t worry, you can’t break us.
to that same point…
TC: Where the hell were you? We knew we’d likely lose but I know that this week was like half our actual strength.
SoS: You guys are really tuning up. I’m enjoying the fights more and more each time we meet.

I don’t understand why anyone is worried about Thieves resetting the fight. Sure it’s frustrating when a kill gets away but it doesn’t really matter. The only thing you should worry about is burst Thieves but only if you are roaming alone in WvW.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
@mPascoal I think it’s best to ask yourself what role you enjoy playing first and then think about all this other stuff. I personally like to cause chaos by killing yaks, contesting waypoints, playing sentry, etc so I have a high mobility/survival build which shortbow is perfect for.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Why can’t you “main” shortbow?

Any ability that adds protection, retaliation or invulnerability makes a Burst Thief much less effective. Any ability that chills, cripples or channels makes a Stealth Thief much less effective. Now go try it out.

@Truffler Well said and I’ll take that to heart. Remember TC, we were dubbed the Zombie Coast for a reason.

It really just annoys people and that’s why they complain so much.

The only way matchups would ever be “fair” is if the number of any servers population on any BL was regulated by the largest server population on that BL. So if TC fields 200 people on TCBL then the limit would be 200 for the other two servers. Anet aren’t idiots, they likely know this already but plainly put “fair” is boring. I think we need something in between the RNG junk and a server population limitation.

Because there’s no logical reason why your ability to heal would help your ability to damage. In the case of siphoning health, it would only make sense for it to increase the amount of health received.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
SoS is so kitten humble. I like your attitude. Please make it to T2 soon so we can kick it in the Borderlands again soon.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Disease sounds more interesting because it creates some great scenarios in PvX. Healing Power shouldn’t affect the damage, only the amount of health received.

TC enters tier 2 for the first time, months ago. Meets BG and SoR. Holds one tower on four maps for the bulk of the match. This goes on for weeks. We didn’t give up. We stayed in Tier 2 (with a one week drop to Tier 3 but back the following week).
And we are still in Tier 2 because we didn’t give up, even though we got pummelled for weeks and weeks. BG started calling us the zombie coast because you’d knock down one of us and two more would come back to fight.
Most of the SOS posters in this thread remind me a bit of how we were then. Tough and not giving up. You should take a look at how things are going, because you’re definately holding more than one tower on four maps. Don’t defeat yourself before you even learn how great it feels to pull together against tough tough odds. Ask the SOS vets who knew what Tier 1 (and its tactics) was like.
Well said.

That was just silly to watch, haha. I’m not so sure I could pull that off in T2. I envy those numbers though. I’m a complete zerg support build (near constant blind/chill/weakness.)

I rarely post here because I don’t like the forum wars or particularly care to be part of the drama. After spending nearly 12 hours before this reset in WvW and witnessing the dedication and team integrity of TC I felt it necessary to come here and simply say well done and lets do it again.

I think Anet should wait to assess the Thief until after culling is taken care of instead of jumping the gun. I’m not blaming culling entirely but clearly it’s an issue and I think it would be premature to “nerf” a stealth based class before the culling is handled.
Also, no class will ever be balanced in any game mode when each mode uses the same pool of abilities. It’s just not possible. I’m not insinuating that each mode needs different abilities; but rather that each mode can have changes made to the same pool of abilities that don’t affect the other game modes.

The venom sharing isn’t very reliable at all due to a small radius and that a few of the conditions don’t stack. Also, I’ve personally never been in a group capable of adequately coordinating to make the sharing of the venom’s worthwhile. Even if you could find such a group you’re now asking each member of the group to withhold attacking in order to time the application. If we add a one second delay per member to apply that means you’re wasting nearly 14 seconds of whatever the group could have already been doing. This means that the venom they would apply needs to outweigh whatever else they could do in that time frame which I doubt is possible.
The premise of applying these conditions is still valuable but we need to rethink how to utilize them.

You’re just going to downplay any build someone posts so I’m going to skip listing all the things Thieves excel at. Instead, I’d like to ask a question. Can you prove that all the things you say are true? I ask because I feel like many of these complaint posts revolve around wild conjecture and “blanket” statements. I hope you’re making informed comments but given the nature of your complaint I can’t really take it seriously. Show me why you’re right.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
It’s because the buying of accomplishments devalues the nature of the accomplishment itself, leaving those who worked hard for said accomplishment with no extra value for their hard work. I see a lot of talk about economy but it’s irrelevant. The issue isn’t whether or not we can afford them or how our ability to afford them correlates with the monetary system. The issue is whether or not it’s okay to pay someone else to play the game for you.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Also, alliances will never work because no one will ever get an entire server to agree to it. You’re going to have players who don’t know or don’t care and they’ll continue to do what they please. I feel like this time we waste talking about alliances can be spent better elsewhere.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
An alliance doesn’t solve a problem really. It just usurps the first place server if it’s successful. You’ll still be battling for first and second place only against a different opponent. They’re useless.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
The most influential thing we can do is speak with our actions. I will refuse groups who do this or have level/class requirements.

This is getting really old. Fix culling. Thieves are near perfect in a sense of risk versus reward. If you know there’s lots of Thieves in the meta right now the smart thing to do is start compensate somewhere in your build.

Regardless of whether we think it’s morally right to do so I think it’s more pertinent to think about whether or not it’s healthy for the community. I don’t see anyone gaining anything significant out of this issue. The player hosting the slots will likely make enemies out of those he/she used to get to the end boss only to kick them from the party. The players who were kicked will only resent other players and stop partying as openly. The players paying for the slots will have little to no knowledge of how the dungeon works and thus be incapable of grouping there effectively in the future.
That’s what morals and ethics are. They don’t exist in a vacuum, they’re based on necessary restrictions of one’s actions to further the common good.
You’re suggesting morality is reliant on the needs of others and that just isn’t so.

1) Sometimes simply neutralizing a point is enough. By all means capture it if you can but sometimes you can use the neutralization as bait to split larger forces you can’t otherwise break head on. This helps the team more than I think most give due credit.
2) It’s chaos and very hard to decipher everything that’s going on all at once. Unless the directive is obvious I suggest hanging back a couple seconds to get a grasp on what is happening and then jumping in on the most advantageous opportunity present.
3) Always keep moving. If you see a point you can’t break, call out what you see and move on to something else.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Concerning PvP:
Let us capture points in stealth please. We can still easily be hit by abilities so I’m not sure I understand why it would be a problem. Also, I would like a Trait that allows a Thief to remove his name from view of the enemy so we can actually hide behind objects and flank more efficiently. Neither of these suggestions directly mess with our damage output but rather build unique and cohesive abilities that players would expect from a Thief. Thanks for the consideration Anet.

1) They’re underwhelming. 2) The best case scenario for their use would be 2v2 pvp or if you have a team that absolutely knows they will have two people at one point regularly. Otherwise, it’s a shot in the dark as to whether or not you’ll be able to fully benefit from them at any given time.

Thank you again for all the responses. I realized that server transfers are still free so I want to mention that I’ll consider switching servers for a guild. I also want to re-emphasize my focus on PvP. I enjoy WvW but I am primarily looking for a PvP focused guild.

I’m looking to join a competitive PvP guild on Tarnished Coast. I’m American, 30 years old, and generally play after 9 PM CST every day. I’m willing to learn and adapt to team strategy and play any class/role necessary. I have very little PvP experience in the MMO genre but consider myself to be very adaptable and capable. I prefer a small and focused guild if possible. I’m not a part of any guild and will always “Represent.” Feel free to contact me in this thread or in game at Quells.2498 and thanks for the consideration.

Jaydee, we can offer the same question to you. Prove it. Prove that there’s only one viable build. Since you’ve made the first accusation I think it’s only fitting that you should have to prove your point before making demands of others don’t you?

Zhaitan and the Elder Dragons must suffer for their meddling in Grenth’s kingdom. Only Grenth can control the dead and the dying. Mortals as well need to learn to fear and respect Grenth once again. We are all of Grenth when we pass so how better to serve him than in the act of passing?
~Maleverant, the Hand of Grenth~
[Guided by Grenth] is an Evil RP/PvX guild. I’m especially in need of Lore buffs and RP vets to help craft the fiction, lead the guild, and creative events for members. The guild calls the Tarnished Coast server home and is comprised of English speaking members. Feel free to contact me (Quells.2498) with any questions.

I use a similar build as Edenwolf. The idea is to first make using stealth restore initiative along with any other initiative restoring abilities you feel you need. Then you can create an endless cycle of “Unload” and when you’re out of initiative you stealth and what not to refill. When in stealth you can use a mini reload in the “1” ability of which I forget the name right now. You can also do the same thing with dual daggers only when in stealth you get to backstab constantly and then spam the “3” aoe bleeding attack. I can post the build in an hour or so when I get home if you’re interested.
