Commanders are going to ask Necromancers to do a few things like…
1) Mark portals/walls
2) Use Well of Corruption to strip boons at the beginning of a zerg fight
3) Lay down Spectral Wall on chokes
4) Rotate Plague with other Necromancers
So make sure you can accommodate them in your build.

From the start of Guild wars 2 WvW was a main feature that can hold players in game for a long time. We fought like 24 \ 7 for each point, grade and captured the fortress feared losing T3 Bay on the enemy map. But…eventually became clear that ANet is not going to develop this area of the game and let it go on the same threshing. SO what we have now?
- most of best WvW guilds leave tha game
- players stopped defending objects and just roll on the map from point to point taking each other T1 keeps and towers
- apotheosis of all this is the new map(EOTM), which is nothing more than a train from point to point where no one defence keeps…just farming…for farming
- old borderlands are half-empty. People playing only at EB and EOTM…because of better farming
- game lost the spirit of war and strategic battles
- and of course I must say about blobs and AOE everywhere in WvW like the main game style for profit…In late March, will start the new season .. or League. But also we know that will go to release ESO without FPS drop in large battles and without AOE pew pew pew…
I just concerns about WvW future…
May be ANet have something really big for WvW for Spring release? or we will see the empty borderlands…
You’re ridiculous and literally all of this is opinion. Maybe someone else has the time to correct all this but to sum it up, no. I can’t believe anyone would even consider this a discussion.

I don’t even use “Foot in the Grave.” I have 0 Stability and run in zergs with no problem. I really don’t want that to sound egotistical I’m just saying that I’m wondering in what instance is everyone running into so many stuns that it is necessary. Maybe that’s a better way to phrase it.
As a disclaimer I have one “get out of jail free” card which is the trait “Reapers Protection” (fear enemies when disabled) and it has always been enough.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Maybe someone can enlighten me on why so much stability is necessary? I personally don’t think it’s an issue. I think it’s fairly obvious our class was designed to use fear and Spectral armor as a means of negation rather than stability because stability creates maneuverability which isn’t a design focus for this class anyways.

That’s a lot of different goals honestly. I would personally streamline it. I honestly don’t know much about pvp so I can’t comment there but I will say that streamlining isn’t as important if you’re zerging in wvw.

I suppose it depends on what “work” means for you.

I always thought it would be unique to take specific types of damage into account against buildings and siege. Burn would do more damage to wooden walls/gates. Chill could slow siege and do more damage etc…
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
The only issue with it is that it’s so much more efficient at draining supply that it makes supply traps rather superfluous. Make supply traps a little better and I’d be happy.

OP: You already touched on the two points I feel are the most important but I want to reiterate them.
1) Have someone relaying major information from voice chat to /m. Yeah I know it’s a little frustrating but no matter how much you spam that mumble channel maybe 10% of people will actually join. Get used to it.
2) Talk about events in future tense. We need to empower militia to be reactive without leadership. Always relay this info to /m. This way even after you may leave a BL someone will see an objective being attacked and say "gosh I recall the commander mentioning “x” might happen and in that case do “y”."

Dear Blackgate,
due to the insanely fun battles last night on TCBL when you pushed our Garrison and then shortly after when we pushed Bay I lost a significant amount of sleep. Because of the challenge you put forth and the skill you displayed I had to drink more coffee to stay toe to toe with you and have now had to call in to work. I’m sure you’d want to make amends for this tremendous display of skill and fun by paying me for the day of work I am now missing. Thank you for your assumed cooperation and please send me all of your gold.
Sincerely yours,
Miniature Master of the Universe.

There’s some improvement that can be made depending on how adamant you are on the balance between damage and survivability. The first thing I will point out is that it’s not necessary to be on top of the Commander. You can use Marks and Wells from a distance rather than risking unnecessary damage. The only time I personally suggest you risk entering the center is for Plague and blasting Water Fields. This will change a lot about your build if you decide to subscribe to the line of thought.
The second issue I will point out is that the build could have better synergy. Retaliation in Death Shroud (Spite V) while not using at least Death Shroud cooldown (Soul Reaping VIII) is in my opinion a waste. Another example can be seen in the options you’ve chosen for siphoning health. If you’re running Soldiers armor then it’s not likely that health is an issue for you in the first place not to mention the natural survivability options a Necro has such as Death Shroud, Plague and to some extent Spectral Form.
So rather than give specific trait suggestions I would humbly suggest 1) Consider your place on the battlefield and maximizing your dps up time versus your time spent trying to survive, 2) Pick traits and skills that synergize well and 3) Start with full survivability in terms of traits and armor and as you become comfortable start switching things out for damage oriented traits and armor until you find your personal balance.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
In theory Conditions are more efficient/powerful for a few reasons. Direct damage is first negated by toughness and then also by vitality wherein conditions are only negated by vitality. Secondly, you don’t have to be face to face with an enemy to apply condition damage while most power comes from close/closer range melee weapons. Also, consider that if you are able to apply conditions as damage and you know you’ll be doing so at range it means that toughness isn’t as important for you so you can focus on vitality or whatever attribute you prefer. Lastly, an opponent typically has to specialize to some extent or at least fill their skill bar with ways to deal with conditions while doing so for direct damage is slightly less important.

Love EotM. Really dynamic terrain that finally forces us to think about position when attacking. Attributes tied to objectives makes deciding which ones to capture and defend more interesting. The long runs can be annoying but it’s a passive way of punishing a “zerg” for not playing smart. Over time the zerg begins to whittle down and can’t be reinforced quickly.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
I agree but even if you took away those things the map is clearly designed for large fights. The terrain forces players towards each other.
On the same hand it also punishes poor play because the run back to the zerg can be very long and very difficult to avoid enemies. So the map creates this synergy wherein you need to move a large group of players around more carefully than I feel the Borderlands do.

Also, I second the idea that aoe cap is a pitfall…

Don’t get me wrong I love large zerg battles. I don’t want to punish anyone for playing how they choose and frankly not everyone will always be happy but I think it would force some players to start considering other tactics in wvw. Also, as I said, we can keep these changes isolated to wvw and allow players to continue large zerg play and/or gvg in EotM. The key here is the number and the actual debuff. I’d say something like => 30 within a 1200 range would incur the debuff. The debuff could simply lower precision since swinging a weapon in the middle of all that would logically be pretty tough.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Don’t leave your objective alone? Come on I feel like sometimes players aren’t even trying to find a solution. Wait for a couple others to start to leave the objective and roll with them. Thieves are only powerful when they can get you alone.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
While playing last night I noticed the Outnumbered buff come up and it sent me into a spiral of thought about logical fighting scenarios. If you had 40 people in a small area all trying to swing swords wouldn’t it be much more difficult than a smaller group?
What if Anet added a “Crowded” debuff to WvW? The formula could be something like this:
if players within x radius is => y then Crowded Debuff
I won’t suggest what the debuff should actually be or what the number of players should be either but the debuff would make a lot of sense. The game is taking a turn towards this type of system anyways with the bloodlust and outnumbered buffs. I think this Crowded debuff fits right in with them in terms of theme and goal. Also, Anet could not add it to Edge of the Mists so if people want to GvG or run in mass groups unhindered they still can. Thoughts?

The walls are fine. There’s plenty of places to put siege where it can’t be hit but regardless how ridiculous is it to suggest that you should be able to attack the enemy but not vice versa?

It is a good mechanic with some very small drawbacks but Solstice, you’re too busy dissecting the bad to even take note of what it offers.
It doesn’t offer anything good except a way to get around the fact that we don’t have healers in this game.
Then adapt or keep dying. I’m really not sure what else to tell you. It has lots of benefits but clearly I’m not going to make any ground here. Minds have been made up.
Adapt to what? Downed-state has been there from the begging. Nothing has changed about it so there’s nothing to adapt to.
Unless you mean simply avoid fighting larger groups, which seems to be what you’re proposing. Which again, makes PvP just bad, let alone not being able to pick your fights.
Just because you don’t have an argument don’t attack those who do.
Nothing needs to have changed in order for adaptation to take place but I digress. I do have an argument but I also understand the futility of arguing with people who have no intentions of considering anything but their own problems.

Dear sirs and/or madams of Anet,
My name is Skeletot and for the last few years I’ve been trying my best to obtain the power of Grey Skull. However, much to my demise He Tot is way overpowered and makes it impossible for me to take over Eternia…….I mean Tyria. So my proposition is that you make me more powerful than ever, preferably invincible, and I will invite you to all the summer parties at Castle Grey Skull.
Thank you in advance for your assumed cooperation,

NPC’s using siege just makes sense in a logical way I think. Why would they ignore it? Also, this is more zerg related but I’ve thought about a “Crowded” debuff on any number of players over say 20 to discourage large groupings. Nothing in WvW actually takes more than 15 players at the most to do efficiently anyways…..but gd are 40 v 40’s fun

Yeah balance is a myth anyways. It will never exist in any game. Besides, from a design perspective balance is rather boring because it insinuates a boolean logic style of play that lacks excitement.

“Heavy” is just a term for generalization that’s pretty typical to rpg/mmo games. It may not always make the most sense in every game but neither does the “DPS” title either.

This forum is generally filled with intellectually dishonest, myopic complaints that rant endlessly on “x has this why don’t I have it”. Sometimes the hyperbole is so disconnected with reality that you wonder if they actually even play the game. Not all, but the loudest are usually like this. The problem is that even if the grievences are valid, the hyperbole make finding a solution based on this feedback to be completely impossible. Thus, there is a low signal to noise ratio as arguments will be based around the little area of which they play the game to be the center of the universe. And this kind of nonsense leads to some people thinking the necromancer needs nerfed. (but there’s multiple areas in the game to take in context… nope of course that doesn’t matter)
And some people believe that if you can pick the best choice, then there’s no reason to pick anything else. It is indeed hard pressing to declare anything in pve in which the necro is the best choice. Maybe open world, but nobody cares about open world as it is too low skill to stroke one’s ego; same goes for zerging in both pve and wvw of whic necros are also strong at. Buffs > Debuffs in PvE and necros specialize in high single target damage outside of condi builds. We have plenty of strength from aoe condi side such as epidemic, but conditions are broken there.
You can of course make up the difference by playing better but the disparity still exists and there’s no point trying to cover it up. It’s honestly not gamebreaking. On the other hand, chest beating and excessive melodrama makes any solution harder to find.
It comes down to teaching acceptance and diversity. Most these issues come from one person not understanding why everyone else doesn’t play like their self.

That’s because rallying happens from the downed state and not death. Also it’s a good mechanic that enforces personal contribution in large fights because if one of your players goes down it might rally a few enemies. This means that each person has a lot of responsibility to be efficient both in terms of pressure and defense.

I don’t run any escapes personally but Spectral Walk is the most useful in my opinion. Pop it as you run in and then gauge how the encounter is going. If poorly then hit it again to port out of there.
Really your best escape is situational awareness. A Necro has to analyze how the fight is going and where the best tactical position is at all times.
