um the term imbagon comes from paragons being overpowered in gw1.
Jus saiyan.It should be specified that was one specific build, every other possible Paragon build fell short.
Paragons were also pretty popular in gvg for a while.
Most classes were pigeon-holed into the strongest builds for the given game type (eg. monk – pve: healer’s boon/ua, pvp: woh/rc)

10 months into the game and the highest tier for the aquabreather remains a masterwork.
Even worse, there are only 2 stat types, technically 1 since each armor class has access to only one stat combination.
Even more worse, the only stats available to heavy armor is precision/toughness/condition (useless to 95% of guardians and warriors) and power/toughness/vitality on medium armor (useless to 95% of engis/thieves/rangers).
Ever more worse-er, you need a 7th rune to complete the 6th set bonus underwater, since the aqua breather takes the place of your headpeice underwater.
Please give us access to exotic aqua breathers, or make it simply a skin that applies to our head peice underwater.

This skill was specifically talked about in last month’s state of the game. All the casters and anet dev team agreed it needed to be nerfed because it was instant and cc’d the entire team in team fights. Perfectly justified.

Do not use earth dagger 5 in pvp ever unless your holding a point or you like dying, everytime I see a ele use it pvp I nuke them with everything I got.
I have gotten the best results in 1v1s using berserker armor divinity runes and clerics accessories.
I think Pvt is almost always a mistake.
earth dagger 5 is huge damage; it’s super effective! Use it out of range then lightning flash in. Best comboed by swapping to air and popping shocking aura for the fury and the stun if ppl try to attack u.

put 30 in water for cantrips instead of 30 in earth. Cantrips are way better for keeping you alive than 300 toughness

You may have used the turret then walked out of range of it so when you use the skill nothing happens within your field of vision but the over charge goes on cooldown at the turret’s location. I’ve done this a few times.
Nope I always stay in range. I wish I could record my gameplay so I can more clearly show what I mean.

I usually tend to hit the heal skill twice when i use it as quickly as possible. So it may be that I’m not getting some hidden ‘timing’ right.
The other issue is that I’ll watch the turret, watch for the overcharge animation (the spinning water jets), only when I use blast finishers nothing happens.
The final, and most important issue, is that frequently when I use the healing skill literally nothing happens. No turret is deployed. No healing is received. Skill goes on cooldown but nothing happens. It stays like this permanently until I swap out healing turret for another skill, then swap back. At this point my heal goes on a cooldown automatically (20seconds, the recharge time of the other heal skill, healing turret is 15seconds, not sure about swapping to other skills). This is the only way to fix this bug.
Either way, the bugginess and the hidden timing mechanics are things that need to be fixed. Since you only get one healing skill to stay alive this is pretty game-breaking.

My healing turret will frequently not activate the second portion of the healing skill, will not activate the water combo field, and often will simply not even activate. I will use it and simply put: nothing happens. The only way to fix it is to swap out another skill and swap back, at which point it goes on a 20sec cooldown. I don’t know if this is specifically in wvw, as this is pretty much the only place where i have been playing, but this is pretty game-breaking.

So I’ve been leveling an engineer lately (my fourth alt). I was thinking how lame the kits are, because you have the same weapons/backpack all the time regardless of the weapons you have equipped. I can imagine how annoying this is especially for people with legendaries on their engineers.
Since engineers have kits equipped 50% of the time, I propose: Legendary Kits!
If you have a legendary weapon equipped, your kits get some added effects. A wrench that glows, or grenades that shoot rainbows. Backpacks filled with futuristic looking bombs. Anything instead of the bland default weapon kits that every engineer has.

Gw1 had several pretty awesome minigames. I was hoping for the return of costume battles for halloween
Gw2 events so far have been pretty fun. A lot of the events in gw1 revolved around limited time drops that basically meant you were doing the same thing, just with new drops. Gw2 on the other hand has made it a point to have significant new content for events.
Rollerbeetle racing was pretty good. Be interesting to see if they can squeeze that in somewhere.
In the eastern part of LA there are some curious ramps that make me think rollerbeetle will come to LA sometime, or perhaps that’s just wishful thinking :P

Encountered and tested this bug out the other day, thought it was quite hilarious.
The cripple fields from the Golem Mark II world event boss will inflict immobilize on warriors who have the leg specialist trait equipped. This will effectively root you in place for the entire duration of the cripple field. I tested this by going in and out of combat to switch the trait, and it is indeed due to the trait. Kind of lols.

People buy a ticket for 50s, and can buy as many as they want. At the end, a ticket is drawn and the winner gets 50% of the gold, while the other half goes to guild to buy upgrades for the guild (commander tags, etc.).

Ok guys please keep the discussion on topic. To refresh the conversation, my two questions were:
1) is there a way to do the controller room without having two people die on switches. This seems to be the most common method. Most people can’t survive standing on the tiny switch because to avoid the massive damage done by the dredge you need to dodge/move
2) why didn’t our tactic of using sanctuary with the bomb path work? I would have thought the sanctuary would have prevented the mobs from picking up the bombs and preventing the detonation, but it didnt work AT ALL.

There are dredge that grab bombs after you deploy them, disarming them.
Yes we know this, thats why we dropped a sanctuary and used fear me to make them run away…but they still didnt damage the door

Plant bombs, and move away from them, dont stand on top of bombs.
After dropping the bombs inside sanctuary, I used fear me to drive the dredge off and we ran back down the stairs. Non of the bombs went off and idk why. Is it possible the bombs bug inside the sanctuary and dont damage the door?

He is actually fairly easy. Most parties wipe during the pull.
The easiest way to counter that in a PUG is to have a Guardian use “Stand Your Ground”. The Stability stops him from being able to pull anyone in. So even if someone missed dodging it, it keeps them from going down. And then make sure you take the adds out ASAP. Especially the Necro during his 3rd summon.

Hi guys,
Just for reference, I am an experienced fractals player. However I do need some tips on how to do dredge fractal more efficiently, especially on higher levels.
The first two pressure plates are pretty str8 forward, however the room with the two plates and the switch is annoying. Currently our strat is to have two players die on the plates, 2 characters kite the mobs on one side of the room, while another (preferably one with invis) does the switch. Is it just me, or does this feel a lot like the Magg strat in cof p2 before they nerfed him?
In the bomb path, we stealthed before running up the stairs with retreat. We then picked up the bombs and ran to the top, dropped the bombs at the door inside a sanctuary while warriors used fear me to keep the mobs off the bombs. However for whatever reason even after fear me and sanctuary non of the bombs went off. When we tried just dropping them without any sanctuary or fear me, they went off no problem. What gives?

All dungeons were hard the first time you do them. I remember when we did AC (before the buff) back at release and it took us over an hour for the first path lol. But like most things once you learn how to run it/what skills to bring, it becomes a lot easier.
Sure gw1 dungeons were hard at the beginning, then everyone figured out how to solo run them on a permasin or 600 monk. I’m sure it’s like that with most games

Totally agree. Difficult to dodge when you cannot see animations. This happens even in 5 man instances (eg. guardians using virtue of justice)
A simple fix would be to have a black outline of the enemy mob that is always visible above the FX.

the necro and elementalist were also very hard; not only because lack of stability , blocks, and the long CD stunbreakers but also because the core class mechanics drops the mine detector on the floor
I can understand necro, but ele? all cantrips break stuns, and armor of earth grants stability. No more stability/stun break than a warr, in fact maybe more.

A couple things:
First – this is a thread about the fact that fractals is still hard-capped, not about the molten facility. Please keep the discussion on-topic.
Second – this is not a thread about how people glitched their way to lvl 70+ before the hard cap on even levels was introduced. This is about how the hard cap has remained for the last 3-4 months despite 3 new pieces of ascended gear (amulet and 2 earrings) being added without adding any infusion recipes.
Third – Being able to infuse the 3 new pieces has absolutely no bearing on anything outside of fractals, especially wvw.
Allowing us to access levels 50-59 only requires adding infusion recipes for the amulet and the earrings.
I would just like to know why they have limited our progression for months without giving a reason.

Although I -think- I’ve seen some improvement in the large world events and wvw, I am now seeing skill lag in other places where it didn’t exist before. Especially in instances, which doesn’t really make sense. Specifically fractals.

How many months have we been locked out of fractals 50+? I honestly can’t remember, it’s been so long. Really not sure if they are having problems building recipes for infusing amulets and earrings, or maybe there’s a bug where 50+ automatically gives a precursor, or maybe there’s an infestation of karka in 50+ making the game unplayable. Not sure, but whatever it is I hope it’s worth the wait.

Imo two reason other builds cant be viable are two-fold:
1) Lack of synergy in a given trait line
2) lack of utility in -utility- skills
Eg. The reason cantrip builds are so popular on eles is because of the synergy in the water trait line. With 30 points in water, you can have cantrips grant regen+ vigor, cantrips recharge 20% faster, and applying regen removes a condition. With the obvious synergy there, it’s obvious why most eles go 2-3 cantrips in their utility slots, especially since cantrips also break stun.
Eg. With 30 points in earth, you can get signets recharge 20% and maintain the passive effects of signets after using them. Although this provides decent synergy, the -utility- of signets is severely lacking. None of them break stuns, grant boons (unless also traited in the water tree) or remove conditions actively (unless also traited in the water tree).
TLDR: If anet wants more builds to be viable, they need to make trait lines more synergetic and make more utility skills useful.

I generally play guard in pugs since it’s easier to keep the noobs alive

Yeah it is pretty underwhelming. I think the best option would be to make it reduce crit chance by 20% in addition to making non-crits glancing blows. This way it would be a decent counter to fury stacking.

I really hope so too. Though I can understand why fractal weapon skins are rare, I do also understand why getting a specific skin can be a pain in butt.
The thing that bothers me is that I can spend 1-2 hrs doing a high level fractal and not even get 1 rare, when I can do maw in 1min and get a guaranteed rare, often more than 1.
The final maw chest should have a guaranteed rare. The bonus chest similar to world events can be applied if over-farming is thought to become an issue.

You can mostly just equip stuff you loot as you go along.
If you find your armor and weapons are lagging behind your level, you can buy blues off the trading post. Blues are better for leveling because, despite having lesser stats that masterworks, these will not become soulbound when you equip them so you can sell that back on the trading post when you outgrow them

Can we see the wvw ranks of players on our own side? If so, I would go by that ranking. Otherwise, just getting familiar with a few of the commanders that play in your timezone helps. Most servers have a community teamspeak, so logging in there can also give you an idea of who is really in command.

There are several gw1 fanboys that got turned off by the game not being gw1 v. 2, especially with the lack of gvg and HA. Being one of those fanboys, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it (especially since I played monk in gw1), and it took a while to get used to the mechanics.
That being said, I have now fallen deeply in love with the game. I have logged over 1700 hours so far since pre-release and I’m not anywhere near done. Just geared my third level 80, have a legendary and working towards a second legendary, leveling in WvW and PvP, going to start a 4th alt soon.
The only thing I wish they would do is add more PvP modes. sPvP is fun but gets a little repetitive after a while.
