What do you guys think of running hammer instead of greatsword for even more cc lock, or rifle for ranged option?
Well, a problem with both hammer and rifle in these type of builds is it leaves you with a lot less mobility. Hammer is also more susceptible to blind. I think M/Sh GS really just gets the job done best among these type of builds, but I do occasionally run other weapon sets. My preferred rifle build was destroyed in last months patch, and I haven’t really found one I liked since then. If you are fine with not having escape options, you could probably make rifle work, but in reality it probably isn’t that great in this type of build.
Hmm that’s a good point. WTB hammer builds from gw1
Also, what about using more physical utilities like bull’s rush or stomp?

Just out of curiosity:
How many people have crafted the +5 stat, +5 AR infusions?
Personally I find the stat gain/cost to not be worth it. I would rather save the mats for my next legendary.
The only situation I think anyone would craft these is if they only have 1 character, are never going to make another character, have too much money and 2+ legendaries.

It can be very annoying if you don’t bring counters.
Solution: bring counters stability and stun break are your friends.
As mentioned above: you can dodge the disk and the end of the swirling thing inflicts knockdown so just make sure you’re not standing in it when it ends.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Imo the +5 stats are not worth the investment. Save the mats for your legendary instead

We encountered the same animation bug as well.

Everyone in this thread that is defending a 3 sec stun on a 7 1/2 sec cd must think WoW has good pvp.
Anet should of been smart and followed the direction of gw1, aka not losing control of your character for a significant amount of time.
Hahahahahaha!!!!

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Yeti_Smash
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Overbearing_Smashetc. You could wreck people for days with a good stunlock build in GW1
Not to mention that in gw1 there was no such thing as a stunbreak. So you had to perfectly time balanced stance to stay up. One of my favorite things to do on monk was pop balanced stance right when a warrior tried to dev hammer me ftw
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Warriors should have high CC usage. That was what they excelled at in gw1, and it’s what they should be good at in gw2. One of the things I was most disappointed with in gw2 warrior coming from gw1 warrior is how terrible hammer is. In gw1 hammer warrior was permanently “meta” because of their high CC potential. gw2 hammer is pretty much only useful in wvw because of the adrenal skill.

Gw1 had a really nice feature where when you pressed tab it would select the enemy that you were “looking at.” Basically you could aim your camera at a target and when you pressed tab it would select the enemy closest to the middle of your screen. The tab targeting in gw2 seems to have no rhyme or reason to what is selected next, going from someone off to your right to someone behind you to someone on the other side of the map u.u
Try the C button, it works similarly.
All my keys are completely remapped…What does the default C do?
For GW1 C is target closest enemy, for some odd reason its not in GW2 I quickly changed that in my config almost as fast as I turned on the game clock (after years of using C to “reset” my tab targeting if I over did it I just couldn’t live without it XD).
Yeah Target nearest is super useful, but what I’m saying is that tab-targeting should be based on where you are looking, not some pre-defined list of enemies that you cannot control.
Having tab-targeting select target that you are “looking at” (i.e. closest to the center of your screen) would be extremely useful instead of the hidden mechanics we have now.
In gw1 it would even highlight (not switch target, just have an outline around the character model) for the target you would select next if you pressed tab. So just by rotating your camera a bit you could essentially choose your next target without having to click on it. This was especially useful when playing frontline to call targets for spikes. It was quick and efficient.
Having to click on your targets or repeatedly press tab until you get the target you want is messy and takes too much time. In a game where the combat is fast-paced and there are often many enemies on your screen this can mean life or death.

Ah I see this was already adressed:

Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
After yesterdays patch the loot that appears on the right side of the screen overlaps with the “exit instance” button. Myself and many others experienced this and it is very frustrating because you have to wait for ALL the loot to scroll by until you can actually click the leave instance button. With the new, slower scroll speed, this can take an annoyingly long time.

Hey do you mind sending me a private message with the gear setup you have, to not spoil it for others? I’ve been trying to regear my ele for a while now and I’m not sure what direction to go or if the celestial stats are worth it. Your stat setup is close to what I’m aiming for. Thanks
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Yeah he’s pretty rediculous.
If he was unable to belch while his elite was up, it wouldn’t be so bad. But basically 3/4 rounds you can’t bluff, and he interrupts your heal everytime WHILE his buff is up, making it near impossible to beat him.
Check out the dulfy.net guide, that might help.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
yeah I loled when I saw this after the skypirates patch. It doesn’t count like it says in the achievement popup, because I’ve gone from ~144mill to ~140mill in the last couple weeks and I definitely haven’t run 4mill dungeons lol.
Edit: At least I really hope I haven’t xD

If it were 500 points from the beginning, no one would be complaining.
99% of the rewards from the gw1 HoM are garbage. In fact the majority of gw1 players we’re kitten ed off at how terrible the rewards were given the insane amount of work that was required to achieve them and what -we thought- we were getting. I think 500 Ap is totally fair.
Gw1 players also form a large part of the gw2 community. People who have been loyal to anet for years and given them tonnes of money in buying games and expansions and gem shop items all while promoting the game to friends and family. Not to sound insensitive to people who have dropped rank because they enver played gw1, but if you’re really that upset about losing rank on the leaderboards perhaps you should rethink your priorities. All the really matters are the rewards.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Perhaps I have been lucky, but the vast majority of the enemy interactions I have had in EB jp for the past few months have been quite friendly.
Are you trying to engage them first?
Usually I /wave at an enemy I see, and if they /wave back 99.9% of the time they won’t attack me if I don’t attack them.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
This is awesome and a lot of work I’m sure!
I’m not sure if there is one, but it needs a TL:DR. I’m at work, so it’s definitely TLDR, but perhaps I’ll ahve time when I get home
Also, would it be possible to add the new celestial gear in? In either these plots or the buildcalculator? I really want to try the new celestial gear.

Just to get an idea.. most console games cost about 60 dollar so thats 3000 / 60 = 50. 365 / 7,5 days. And then I forgot about the fact that you payed for the GW2, you most likely did buy gems and GW2 is not a year old. But still you own them 3000 dollar. Hmm you have pretty low expectations of games if you think 60 dollars for a game should pay you less then 7,5 days of play-time.
That’s some fuzzy math you got there lol. I still can’t figure out how you got 7.5 days lol.
My calculation is not even including the 7000+ hours I put into gw1
Edit: I think you’re just mad you didn’t get a kite lol

When you right click those dungeon tokens they even give you an option to ‘deposit collectible.’ But it’s grayed out. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
Ha! This has been in the game for months and months. I’m pretty sure it’s anet just trolling us :P
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
When people say melee they don’t mean you have to be weilding melee weapons. You can stand in melee range with ranged weapons and harpies won’t shoot the knockdown bombs at you.
And yes, they do go invulnerable when people who have aggro have too big of a difference in height with the mob. This is a core mechanic in the game to prevent people from using map exploits to kill mobs that can’t attack back due to terrain (this was a big problem in gw1). The problem is that it’s so easy to get knocked off the platforms in the initial spiral that the game gets “tricked” into thinking you’re trying to “exploit.” Easiest fix for this is just to remove the harpies at the beginning. This fractal is long enough already with the 4 champs, the miniboss and the boss.

Considering the chance of charged cores, this dungeon is definitely under-run p1 is really easy too.

When you’re gearing your first character it may seem like a big decision choosing a good stat combination.
However a little while down the road you’ll see it’s pretty easy to get top gear.
For example: my warrior has a full zerker set for farming cof/easy dungeons; a zerker/soldier mix for high level fractals; a soldier/knight set for wvw; and a magic find set. And that’s just one of my 5 lvl 80s. Each character has multiple armor sets on them for different situations.

I saw you guys in-game and nearly died from cuteness
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
On the other hand.. The kites also have a function as Badge of Shame. Everybody can now see who buys gems and so helps to keep the gem-store focus alive.
Oh yes, how shameful it is that we chose to support the game we enjoy playing.
I will now hide in the corner (with my kite), while you continue to play the game we helped pay for.
Guess what, everybody payed for it and if an expansion would be released many would also pay for that. Buying gems does not help the game, it makes it worse as it results in a gem-store focus and that gem-store focus results in bad behavior like making temporary content and stuff.
So no, you did not help the game. Not for anybody that does not like the gem-store focus / temporary content and whatever more comes from that focus.
I am perfectly fine giving anet more of my money. For the same price as a console game I would beat in 40hrs and never play again, I have played this game for over 2000 hours. By my calculations, I still owe anet over $3000 lol.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Dyes like white, black, celestial, the limited-time dyes, are 20g and above. I find this to be a bit much. I wondering what the rest of the community thinks. Should these be so expensive (and thus a status symbol)? Or are they so expensive that it’s not worth buying?
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
They are bound because they are the same stats that you buy from the dungeon vendors, which is supposed to be the only way to obtain them. If they were not bound and you could sell them on the TP that would defeat the purpose.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Ele since they use pretty much every stat. Even then I just can’t bring myself to use any gear with healing power on it since the stat scales so very, very poorly.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
This is probably the biggest source of grief in dungeons atm.
eg. Leader leaves before everyone collects their rewards.
eg. Leader leaves on the third fractal, everyone booted.
eg. Someone DC’s, you go to kick them so you can be a full party -> everyone booted from the dungeon/fractal.
The system really needs to be fixed.
Possible solutions:
-When the party leader leaves, the next person in the party is promoted to party leakitten
arty leader can promote someone else to party leader if they have to leave.
-Party leader remains party leader if they swap characters.
At the very least, make it obvious who the party leader is so that you are at least aware that you will have to 4-man the dungeon when the party leader disconnects.
Edit: Can’t seem to fix the censor (seems to be reading kitten )
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
If the instance owner switches character or leaves party it will indeed kick everyone out. If the instance owner DC’s or logs off, it will not kick anyone out until he is kicked from the party. Annoyingly, there is no way to tell if the person is the party leader, which can be frustrating since you might kick someone who has DC’d without realizing they are the instance owner ><

First give each player in the group a number, 1 to 5. Then do the following extremely complicated algorithm to calculate boss aggro:
Aggro = Random(5).
That is it.
Tell that to Lupicus focusing one preson so hard until it dies.
That’s whats called lucky RNG.
I think.
No Lupi will 99% pick the person with highest toughness and focus them until they are dead. This actually works in our favor. Being the anchor guard for our team, I can just kite Lupi all day while my team dps him (we are not pro enough to melee brave mode). I literally can’t remember a time when Lupi wasn’t focusing on me the whole time.

Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
I don’t think it’s a bug, but I’m not 100% sure of it. If it did stack 7-8s of swiftness on each pulse, one symbol would give you perma-swiftness. I think it refreshes swiftness to a max of 7-8s. Kind of like the swiftness banners. If you were allowed to repeatedly interact with the banner you could have near-infinite swiftness.
Other skills do this too, like hallowed ground. Although I think it’s different for ones that only give 1 second of a boon (eg. the retal ones and regen ones).
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Definitely the rewards. As someone who mostly pve but is rank 30 in pvp, the rewards are kitten. The emote is nice but you can’t even use it in wvw, only to troll people who die in dungeons lol.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Punishing leavers is easy and should be in-game. In gw1 if you left too many games you got a pvp hex that prevented you from joining games for 15? minutes.
Punishing afkers is more difficult though. In gw1 there was a report -> afk feature however it was heavily abused by players to report people they didn’t like or people running stupid builds.

You can indeed jump + dodge. Practice it. It’s very useful, esp for jumping puzzles and pvp.

Permanent account bonuses—permanent boosts to Magic Find, experience from kills, karma gain, and more. Earn achievement points on any character and get rewards for all of your characters.
Currencies – gold, gems, karma, and laurels.
I can see alcoholics being happy with this.
alt-o-holics are never happy, there is always something that they will complain about and claim that they are being ‘punished’
Here’s the thing. Try gearing more than 2 lvl 80s for pve, high level fractals and wvw (all require different gear sets, esp. ascended trinkets). I have 4 80s atm and even though I would like a 5th I have to stop so I can finish gearing all my characters. 2350 fractal relics for an infused backpack is a lot ~.~

Runes of melandru + lemongrass is one way to go for a whopping -65% condi duration.
Another way to go is runes of the soldier + triple shouts (shake it off, for great justice and fear me).
You can also use mending and restorative strength (minor trait in strength tree) to remove up to 6 conditions.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
just go to a cache in the region and stand by the chest. they respawn every minute.
That’s one way of doing it. Very boring and unintentional imo. The nodes are obviously broken since the last patch.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Lucky! I haven’t found a single one ~.~
Jokes aside…
A few posts about this have cropped up since the last patch in both the bug forums and here. I hope this gets fixed.

Definitely not just an ascalon bug. I’ve tried holograms in several areas across all the continents. Aetherblades never spawn.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
I would have preferred the alliance system that guild wars 1 had. I have been harassed many times over representing.
Totally. Although I get the utility of having the ability to be in more than one guild (e.g. having a pvp guild, a pve guild, a wvw guild and so on), this game DEFINITELY NEEDS ALLIANCES.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Whenever I go near or interact with any of the holographic totems, I never see any aetherblades. Dulfy claims it’s a 50/50 chance. I’ve been by 30+ hologrphic totems around the map and nothing. It’s making the aetherblade achievements very tedious ~.~

Would it be possible to get leaderboards for guilds in spvp? Similar to how it worked in gw1. If you have at least 3 players on the team that are from the same guild it would count towards their ranking, and this would be published on the official leaderboards.
wouldn’t really be taken too seriously, since a player can just join multiple guilds and stuff, it still mostly boils down to which players are the best, rather than which guild.
It worked in GW1 because guild memberships were more… enclosed, for lack of a better word, an account was bound to 1 single guild and only that single guild until you left.
I disagree with the notion that it wouldn’t be taken seriously. Top tier guilds will still only recruit top tier players. Being a top tier player, you wouldn’t be stuck in one guild either.
In gw1 there were alliances where guilds basically shared players. Several top tier guilds would form an alliance, similar to the gw2 multi-guild function in a backwards sort of way.

Well that’s your opinion. Personally I have never played games like LoL but I do know that they are insanely popular. Could be a lot of fun
Edit: This game needs more pvp types. Gw1 had AB, JQ, FA, RA, TA/codex, Gvg and HA.
