An idea I had, originally posted in the suggestions forum but it didn’t seem to be getting much traction there.
For a lot of casual players like myself, who often only have time to login to do the dailies, the requirements for ascended/legendary gear seem to be so high that we are unlikely to achieve them in any sort of reasonable time frame.
To close the gap between the casuals and the hardcores, I had the following idea:
Make daily/monthly rewards have a chance to give a random (say 1-4 for daily, 4-10 for monthly) amount of t6 mats.
Since the daily/monthly achievements are account-bound, this won’t cause a massive drop in t6 prices and can be effectively controlled by anet.
Casuals will be able to acquire some of the t6 mats necessary for crafting ascended/legendary gear without having to grind for hours and hours to get the mats/blow all their gold on the tp.
Hardcore players will get a small bonus in t6 mats, but is ultimately insignificant compared to how much time they farm.
What do you guys think?

pure glass cannon is full berserker set like I have (most possible damage). It’s great for wvw, where you can nuke to your heart’s content and not worry about survivability since you can hide in the zerg. This gear setup is terrible for dungeons, tho. Something to keep in mind.

Hmm thanks for the link…Doesn’t really seem to make sense tho. If 5 agony resistance gives 50% reduction in damage received, will 10 agony resistance give 75% reduction or 100% reduction? Either way, doesn’t scale the way I would have expected. Will it be necessary to get full (Infused) armor with infusions if we want to do maximum fotm levels? Or will it give some diminishing return?

I was wondering how the agony resistance mechanics work. Is it a percentage (+5 agony resistance = 5% less damage from agony), or a straight -5 to the damage you receive from agony?

You should put at least 20 points into arcane for the bigger aoe radius. full glass cannon would be 30 fire 20 air for might when you cast fire and boons when you cast glyphs. If you want to spec a bit more support go 20 air 30 water for regen and condition removal.

Hi guys
I had some questions regarding how the infusion resistance works. Is it percentage based (i.e. does +5 agony resistance = +5% agony resistance)? Ultimately I’m wondering if it’s worth it to craft the (Infused) armor/accessories with the agony resistance built in, or just worry about getting a good infusion in there. Also, if you craft a regular ascended gear, can that be upgraded to the (Infused) type?

Healing power as a stat is not really worth investing into. This is NOT to say that healing skills are useless, in fact quite the opposite. People have to be a little more self-sufficient compared to games which focus more on the trinity, that’s all.

Healing power scales terribly. This is to prevent people from going full healing spec, since they wanted to ‘remove’ the ‘trinity.’ I’ll take it as a bonus if i happen to want to spec into a trait that has it. I would never get gear with healingpower on it.

Cheapest/Fastest way to get exotic pow/vit/tough gear is AC explorable. Using karma to buy exotic gear is a waste imo unless you really like the look. You can craft (similar) gear but that typically requires a large investment (around 5g) to max out the profession.

elementalists are squishy by design. although your armor is quite high, this may actually be a detriment because numerous mobs specifically target the player with the highest armor. Instead of completely re-gearing, I would suggest going cantrips instead. Put some points into water to get the regen/vigor when you use cantrip for more dodging. In terms of dps output, you may want to avoid stacking tonnes of aoe at once as the huge damage spike will generate aggro. spread it out a bit to maintain the same overall dps without generating too much aggro. Good luck!

They did mention that they wanted to make it more of a ‘scavenger’ hunt. I’m worried that this means they will simply add a guaranteed recipe to the mystic forge. Something, for example, requiring 250 xxx lodestones. I which case you are still at the mercy of the RNG, in that you will need to acquire the 300+ gold to buy those lodestones in the first place.

If they just toned down the number of reinforcements it wouldn’t have been so bad. It did require group tactics (pulling the adds away from the boss and towards the mortars). Overall I thought the event was awesome! And it was great seeing 100-200 person zerg wipes for the first time ever :P

FYI -most- commanders get their title by everyone in the guild donating small amounts of gold towards the 100g necessary. Few commanders actually bought the title themselves.

Personally I love RNG TO A POINT. I love that every time I open a chest or loot a mob that I’m never sure what I’m going to get and always have my fingers crossed. The problem with RNG is that at the moment it is the only way to hit one of those lottery ticket items (precursors). This is the main reason I quit playing Diablo 3.
You can farm for days, months, years and never, ever hit the lottery. The game becomes really, really easy for those who do/did hit the lottery, and increasingly difficult for those who don’t. I played D3 for a solid ca. 1000 hours over the summer and have just over 6mill gold to my name, which for anyone who plays D3 can attest that you may as well have 0 gold. I don’t want to have quit gw2 for the same reason.

You can play the first few levels of Fotm without any ascended gear. No one is precluded from playing fotm. Once you get to the higher levels it will become necessary, but by then you get so much loot in fotm it doesnt rly matter.

If your guild won’t take you on runs I would suggest looking for a new guild. I often run arah path 3 with a couple experienced and couple inexperienced people (all pugged) and can beat it in an hour. Other paths can also be beaten in about an hour but you need to have concrete strategies for each boss or else its wipe wipe wipe => 3hr dungeon.

unid dyes count as rare drops, so compared to the last few days where they fixed the bug in unid dye drop rates, comparatively it would make more sense that you’re seeing more yellows.

In guild wars 1 body blocking was independent of character size. If they ever implemented this, they would follow the same logic. I agree that for places like spvp and dungeons body blocking would be very useful. For other places tho it would just be a terrible grievance.

The great thing about this game is that any build is a viable build. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of kittens. If you meet people like this, just ignore them and play with other people. I know lots of people who run condi spec’d thiefs in high-end dungeons like arah and do great.
