Good point Kwll, First Win of the Day would also help relief queue times.
Besides that, it can also cause an improvement in a big chunk of the Leaderboard’s AFKers since there is more incentive to do atleast 1 match per day.
first point, Balance is a lot deeper than just how many peeps u got on ur team. It goes into a build/class effectiveness issue too. I like trying different traits, but when people start getting angry, because you dont choose the fotm traits to win, it can get annoying. Some parts are play to win, others are play to see what works for you. pretty sure a good balance of both makes the experience worth while.
The community is crap, IM on anvil rock, the biggest pvp server, and I just don’t talk to anyone. Even if i say something like “nice combo” I get cussed at lol.

It doesn’t matter which server you are on, PvP matchmaking is region-wide. (All EU servers / All NA servers)
Awful combat, probably grindy since it’s a Korean MMO, and most likely unbalanced.

Introduce a First Win of the Day to Solo Arena.
This works exactly like a daily, where your first SoloQ win of the day would net you some extra Glory and Rank Points and a random temporary finisher (5 uses).
This is purely to increase the rewards from participating in TournamentQueue, while providing incentives for people to play in Solo Arenas more often.
This First Win could be shared by both Tournament modes: Solo and Team Arena, doing any of those would get you the bonus chest!

Im not complaining how long it takes.
Im complaining that PvP doesn’t nearly have all the weapons skins from PvE. Why should PvE have unique skins and not PvP?

I played my fair share of GW1 HA. GW2 PvP development is extremely slow. If they are expecting people to hop out of GW2PVP and come back later to check it out, it won’t happen.
PvP doesnt follow the same thought process as PvE. When a player is burned out of a game’s PvP, it’s very unlikely he will come back.
Stability or proc the active aegis just when you see the ranger raise his hand to daze you.
You can use both alternatives mid-stomp.
Its not worth it man. She will just cheat you with that dude that looks exactly like you but lives in PvE and therefor has plenty of fancy skins and armors. kittenes love fancy skins.
3. Create GvG – Solutions for more PvP modes
A GvG mode wouldn’t be that hard to create;
I – Name the PvP maps “Guild halls”. They can be chosen when you create a guild for a little money.
II – Create a Guild based rating not a player based. Also create a Team based matchmaking. —> You can only play GvG when you represent your guild.
The thing about GvG is the feeling of achieving something as a Guild! I think with GvG available more PvE guilds would start to play pvp! With “playerladder” and not team based PvP you don’t get the feeling of a “team”.LOL what a noob! The game is called guild wars! why would having guild vs guild ever be a good idea?

Its Guild Wars because of the historical event that happened, not because you are fighting GvG. Inform yourself before acting kittened.

I just find all of this amusing.
The reason they claim for not wanting to split skills PvE/PvP in order to balance is because “it would confuse players hopping between the two areas”, and then you take a look at the equipment gear: Valk, Knights, etc, and compare them for PvE and PvP: same name but different stats.

It’s also because the majority of the people come to the forums to whine about something, so its obvious negative outcomes on the polls will prevail. They are by no means any indicator of how the community feels about X subject.
If skins from Living Story are your only problem, consider yourself lucky. Look at all the amazing skins from Fractals, Champion loot skins and others like Vision of the Mists and etc..

truthfully the best part of the pvp in this game is there is no grind to get geared up for it.

I only have the combat log showing during pvp in this game
the chat log is a complete waste of my time, to read or to use.
There we go gentlemen, this is the kind of people that don’t give any answer when you/someone asks whats the teams’ strategy at the start of match, who goes where, etc.
Its the kind of people who seem to think they are playing with 4 AI and theres no communication needed. Its the kind of people that will stay mid 3v1 the lonely enemy instead of helping out at the 1v2 close that you called help for at the team chat.

Give Arena hoster the ability to choose teamsize (5v5 for death match and 20v20 for GvG or just death match madness, haha!). Maybe a way for Arena hosters to toggle food buffs as well?

Well boo kittening hooo. Guess what, you can be the king of PvE/WvW for all I care, but you come to PvP and you know squat, so why should you be equipped with stuff you gained in a totally different way?
CoF armor in PvE = max 2 days
CoF armor in PvP = good luck getting it atleast after 5-6 monthes of non-stop grinding
This PvE entitlement to get everything annoys me more than anything.
PvErs have UNIQUE SKINS to PVE. [fractal skins, champion loot skins, vision of the mists, etc, Living Story skins (that we need to pve in order to get for pvp)].
PvErs have the best time-reward ratio. You even get more achievement points that gets you more achievement rewards that also include pvp stuff or zenith skins that look amazing and you can use them in PvP.
You walk into PvP and you have no skins.
We walk into PvE and have no skins and stats.
Quit whining about this kitten now.
I dont think theres enough playerbase for that. You open all previous activites and they will all be empty within 2 days. A rotation is needed and thats what Anet is doing

Unfortunately you are playing hotjoin. Its a casual, laidback mode. Dont expect people to work in team and not zerg in there. People go there to kill some stuff and then leave as they want.

2. What exactly is your definition of fun? Fun is subjective, no?While we definitely appreciate it when players are vocal and provide feedback, excessive hyperbole does not help us to understand the fundamental issue.
Some more points:
1. The current meta is not controlled by the PvP team. Yes, we monitor it closely as balance greatly affects PvP. However, no resources are being taken away from PvP development in order to do balance. So I’d like to just squash that misconception now.2. Skill effect clutter – another thing not controlled by the PvP team. Another thing that we monitor and provide feedback to the teams that do control it.
3. Sending out in-game mail is not as easy as it sounds. Keep in mind that every message that is sent has to be edited and localized.
- This is, however, something we recognize as an area to be improved. We are investigating ways to provide in-game messaging for events.
4. Lastly, I want to thank you for promoting the guildwars2pvptv channel. I always see a few people on the team with the stream always going on their 2nd/3rd monitors. Once PAX has past, we’ll be looking to better promote streamers from all areas of the game. So keep it up!!
About in-game mail not being easy to do. Just Lol Allie. Living World team does atleast 4-5 mails every 2 weeks and you guys can’t make 1 mail per MAJOR PvP tournament?
Either you don’t that because:
- It would break immersion (LOL)
- Resource heavy just for a PvP event (Not really to laugh about, it’s sad)
I only started PvP recently, with a Guardian. This went well until the past patch or two (wasn’t paying enough attention, sorry) and now I can’t seem to stay alive against a ranger or Necro.
I switched to a Necro and after a couple of Ames getting the hang of it, I was doing well again.. With all the minions I could get my hands on and no research on builds.
There is only one area which I feel really hurts my experience:
targeting.
I use the call target to keep an eye on who I am fighting, but any player who can cloak is un targeted when they reappear. Toons who don’t have this ability remain targeted, even after they die and respawn. (Targeting also help me avoid constantly getting retargeted to minions and pets)
To me, that’s a huge issue, especially when trying to find my mouse cursor (making it turn red doesn’t they’ll any!) while using right mouse to turn my character.
I don’t know how other players control their toons, but using mouse with rt-click to strafe and turn can be a painful experience.
Help! I want to be a PvP guru, but not like this…
Bind your A and D to the respective strafe directions. Works wonders. You dont need the A/D turning anyways since its crap.
Ok, now which is it? I have 3 different people saying that fun means 3 different things. This is what I meant when I said fun is subjective.
To some people, it’s fun to knock people off the edge of skyhammer. To others, it’s fun to be matched up against equally skilled players. To even more, it’s fun to feel like you’re great at the class you play.
Here you go what’s wrong with Skyhammer “fun” in SoloQ. I can’t stress enough how much this needs to be explained over an over again. Read that and pass that on to the map design balance team.
These are my top favorites for dual roaming
- CC war + D/P Thief
- D/D ele + S/D Thief
- S/D ele + D/P Thief
- Shatter mesmer + X/X Thief
- SD Engi + D/P Thief = scariest burst you will ever face.

I see you couldnt even read what I typed. Because if you understood simple English you would have realised by now that you are wrong and you posed no arguments to say otherwise.
Also funny you haven’t even mentioned thieves, nor that the number of those displacement skills are clearly unbalanced across the board.
Some have way more access to offensive displacement skills than the others, some have way more access to defensive boons to prevent said displacement skills from actually harming you (stability), and some classes have both.

Deathmatch with no healers/prots would just be an 5v5 man-DPS-Rush.
There wouldnt even be plays with walls and knockbacks because of the easy access to stability.

My only problem with Skyhammer in SoloQ is that benefits some classes in detriment of others.
Right now, not even in a PvP-mapwide analysis every class is balanced, they are not. And having a map aggravate this issue is just bad in my opinion.
Let’s say you play a Necro, besides being at the top of the food chain currently, if the map happens to be Skyhammer you get an added bonus on top of it, and that’s not okay. When I go SoloQ I want to play my class regardless of the Map that is generated and not be punished by it. Currently you should reroll to a Guardian or Necro if you happen to get Skyhammer on SoloQ as it significantly increases your chances of winning. You should be rewarded for playing your class right, not by switching to classes as the maps require.

I have no problem in feeling like I got outplayed and learning from that mistake and positioning myself to prevent that from happening again .
Problem is there are clearly apex predators in Skyhammer.
Lets do the comparison in Guardians vs Thieves, who is rewarded the most by its positioning?
I’m pretty sure it’s the Guardians, more access to skills that can move the enemy and aegis/stability than Thieves results in more easily “outplaying” the enemy.
Even if the Thief went as far as stacking up some stealth before sneaking in on the cap point and trying to surprise the Guardian, that is sitted on point, by pulling him into the glass panes, the Guardian has passive Aegis and that means you have to blow an attack before doing the pull, thus giving away your position AND intention.
Do I like the map? Yes.
Does it need to balanced/polished? Definitely. And it shouldn’t be on a ranked rotation until such happens.
All Im saying is, ArenaNet, take Skyhammer out of the SoloQ rotation and do some meetings about where you want to go with the design on this map, and balance and polish it. After thats been done then they can put it back in rotation.
I really, really wanted this to be a L2P issue, unfortunately this is simply a case of bad design.

Free wins/losses caused by 4v5s are one of the problems that kittens SoloQ Leaderboards so much. The top 10 AFK SoloQrs half of these 11 matches were won mostly because of a 4v5. Kata, top1 NA SoloQ has even posted proof.
To be honest, big patches should terrify everyone. Last time we got one of those, necromancers happened.
But the current strategy of no balance patches during tournaments makes no sense. If the game becomes a successful e-sport, there will be major tournaments going on constantly. Are we just to expect no more balance at that point?
Thats because they don’t have a private server for tournaments to run in. The only one they have is the dev test server and that one has all kind of crazy kitten, not to mention future balance test changes and is crashing all the time.
They need a tourney server. Just like LoL has one. That way we can keep our balance patches during the big tourneys, and they keep the latest “stable” build.

I for one welcome the new minimaps changes very positively. The trebuchet icon is much better.
Jon Peters said during the guildwars PvP stream on twitch (in chat) that the patch after PAX should expect some balance and then the one after that should be the BIG one…. man…how many times I’ve heard that the next one or the one after that is going to be the BIG patch
