You poor thing. So your team has less teams to play agaisnt? You mean all those SoloQ’ers that got matched agaisnt your team? There’s no more SoloQ’ers to feast on anymore.
Poor you.
I just think this is bad design. The player is getting rewarded for letting an AI do his job and the other guy is getting punished because he cleverly positioned himself not to be seen from the capture point.
Well, I can see how many unknown teams will grab the chance and sign up with 5 spirit rangers.
Hope this isn’t a dig at sync dude, the players were known even if the team wasn’t.
And sorry jin the accent threw me ><
Well to be honest all I see is a meta abuse on SYNC’s behalf. When this Meta is changed, I want to see how good they will do (unless they get 2 players same class on FOTM builds again, swapping out spirit ranger)
I doubt it, those guys primarily play ranger.
Certainly, they are favored by this meta. If they do good in the next one, then they will surely have my respect
Guys, it’s a Daecollo troll thread, what did you expect? Everytime I see a topic that he created Im like: Dis gunna be gud

Ranger pets are ridiculously overpowered because they have an in-built maphack up their sleeve.
Most of the time the Ranger player is completely clueless of your current position but the mighty pet has an aggro range the size of Skyhammer AoE and easily gives away your position. It’s even more frustating when you get downed but manage to trick him and put yourself in a position he doesnt see you. The ranger doesnt care if you try to hide because his pet will find you and it will kill you
Eg. take a look at Forest of Nifhel’s Mine, you can hide inside the mine entrance.
Another example, Legacy of Foefire’s Quarry, you can hide behind the wall.
Most of the players don’t go check for people there and provides a nice little sneaky backcap neutralize, punishing players without map/situational awareness. Rangers are immune to this punishment. Is this really okay?

Huntards
No need to preach me, I came from GW1 and I know what complexity is, they had it right for GW1 and they watered down everything in favor of a casual and laidback aproach.
Unless their mentality changes I dont know what to expect, so far, combat is still entertaining me but lacks some necessary depth.
I think we’ll see some small corrective steps taken on next weeks patch. Hopefully they don’t over correct.
At least that’s how I interpret only having server crash fixes on this weeks patch. They’re working on something (crosses fingers).
Yeah, probably more PvE-only skins, that will teach them
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
To be honest there isn’t that great of a skill ceiling in Guild Wars 2 and the reason of that is because most of the skills are simplistic and/or shallow versions from Guild Wars 1 skills. Everything was watered down in the crossover from GW1 to GW2. Go to GW1 wiki and see for yourself the number AND complexity of most part of the skills.
A thief spamming heartseeker is not effective. Your punishment is lack of effectiveness. Granted is not really a punishment but a lack of being rewarded.
The only problem with PvP is how things are being managed. I am skeptic that their management is at fault here, but the lack of resources the pvp has access to when compared to the the rest of the game.
I saw the posting about ESL, congrats on having the game accepted for competitive play.
To the balance team: You guys might want to take vacations…
Yeah take vacations while we linger in the worst meta this game has ever had since 12 months ago.
Devs activity has dropped down again. Seems like we have to buy Jonathan Sharp another ticket to China
On theory, yes it should work. On reality, it is not that beautiful. How in the worl a Necro can kite a Ranger with no swiftness nor Vigor access? Compared to massive evade skill on Ranger, access to Vigor and Swiftness, it is so sub-par, much like one of my naive thought back then when I said a War can kite an Eles D/D. I made a really long post about that on theory, D/D Eles can only be in melee to dams, and no access to Range weapon, therefore War can kite him with ease which is DEALY wrong. With so many gap closer, evade skill, Vigor and Swiftness, asking a Necro to kite a Ranger is impossible.
Odd is I find it duelling with Necro on my Engineer is way easier than dealing with Rangers. Between, a Necro and a Engineer, who you think can kite better? And note that, Engineer has a range weapon dams pretty decent compare to a Staff Necro Dam is just so kitten. Most of the dams come from fear chain combo and it only works when you are up close. The further away, the more impossible to get hit by that combo.
Not to mention the in-built gapcloser on #1 sword
Yet you all say the same about S/D thieves. Perception is a funny thing.
Cap points separated by fissures and you carry a seed to a spot that grows a bridge to cross over
Hum why Gathers? There’s SoloQ.
First of all in League of Legends
1.You do not get a ratio of 10-1 and you Gopro while you sit on a spot for good playing one match every blue moon in which you are grouped with top 25/50/100 vs 600/700/1000 to offset decay.
2.You start off from the bottom with Tiers and progress.
3.If you can’t progress from one tier to the next you simply don’t deserve it or you need to improve. You just don’t skyrocket to Challengers Mode.
4.You do NOT need TS or duo queue to reach Platinum.
5.You do NOT even need to type anything to inform your team since you got commandsRight now it is not even relevant whether you did sync for 1% or for 100% or whether you were using TS for the same percentage or combining it.
And also the update to “fix” this intentional sync or not is not relevant as well now because already people are dropping like flies and soon they will be out not only from leaderboards but also joining soloque and only entering to do their dailies when they realized that great win/loss ration>all and trying to climb up this completely BS system is just too stupid, plainly stupid. Even those that still do will get bored eventually because it will become another pointless FPS game-mode.
99% didn’t come to do soloque and treat it as a team queue. I would understand it if I was the type of player to use any means to treat soloqueue as a team queue and face roll while sit at a position for X days immune to decay. You are right on that.
Short version; nothing matters now.
@Authority,
Divisions and Leagues were only introduced last year in LoL. The game has been around for 3 years. Primarly LoL soloQ, during his first season, was just like GW2 soloQ leaderboards, but because there were 100x time as players, people played more. There were still the #1 that didnt played for 1 month, until decay starts to kick in. They just used smurfs meanwhile. And in LoL smurfing was way easier (free to play) than in GW2
It still works and will continue to work as long as the playerbase stays so small
Anet needs to re-hire Dhuum to do the banning in-game.
Inb4 after release of this map:
“kitten ANET BAN SYLVARI AT X MAP, THEY CAMOUFLAGE AND ITS NOT FAIR”
I think someone playing a spirit ranger should have an easier job cutting through the leaderboards and it happens to be true. No offense.
I adressed the PvE issue by gating the I AM A GOLD SPAMMER. PLEASE REPORT ME BY PRESSING THE REPORT FLAG ICON IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THIS POST! by PvP rank but if that isnt enough, then create a different bank where you can you deposit PvP-related things.
I asked around in-game and someone told me that they had already asked this before and ArenaNet told him that Going through a few loadscreens isn’t that big of a deal
I seriously hope this is a freaking lie.
EDIT: What the actual kitten just happened to my post?
*EDITX2: Apparently writing “P_V_P B_A_N_K” (without _), gives you this weird message. Well I guess ArenaNet really hates this idea.
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
Because as they stated something like: “we would rather work for you, than talk to you while we could be delivering you the stuff you want"
Basically what I think they mean is they dont have a lot of time, and the little time they got they could be working on the features rather than telling us that they are doing X and why, thus having no time to actually work on said features.
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
If you get the random pvp converter just use it, the catcher skins are a bug that will be fixed soon hopefully, idk why you would want to bank un-id account bound dyes rather than just use them, weapons are soulbound you need to use the locker to make them account bound anyways (enter hotm with your alt and pull the item from the locker then leave the mists to put him back to where he was, log back on your main and deposit the copy), just use 1 salvage kit at a time, you don’t get 250 stacks of mats that quickly, that you need regular access to bank.
While a bank would be nice there in very infrequently for pvp reasons, the main reason anyone would want one in there is for easy access for pve reasons.
I want to bank unid dyes so I can get them to my other PvP characters aswell, atleast the ones I already got on my main.
I have 700+ on some mats.
Coming from a somewhat veteran of GW1, I can tell you that “ranking” up there was comparably slow. You got a nice emote for doing so, but aside from that you got nothing but a title and some bragging rights, which is pretty much the same as in this game. I did well enough that I didn’t need to rank up in order to play with high-ranked/good players, since my playing level was on par to compete for the most part. I guess that’s why I don’t really care that much about the rank system in this game except for the greater ability to customize my character’s appearance.
That said, if your biggest gripe is the ranking system, and not the current meta/balance in general, I think you should look deeper into the various toxic elements this game’s design has brought upon itself, some of which are because of relics from GW1’s past.
I have issues with the balance and meta, of course, but those are getting worked on after being talked about. PvP Progression is what I made the thread about, and it’s what I would like it to stay about.
Well you should then that PvP rewards are being worked on. In fact is one of their top priorities
That’s what I mentioned in the OP. They are aware of it, and they say it constantly on their livestreams, but nothing has changed. WvW XP and rewards have been overhauled twice now. The game is supposed to focused on SPvP as an “esport” game, but it seems to focus anywhere but SPvP mostly.
Newsflash: They are aware of pretty much everything PvP needs, but they dont have the manpower, resources to pull it off in any reasonable timeframe we would like. GW2 PvP features is like playing a permanent waiting game.
This new patch announced at August 20th: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/august-20-2013/
Please tell me if you can find anything about PvP in that announcement. That just goes to show their priorities.
^As the titles says.
I find myself forced to a painful Lions Arch loadingscreen (lasts 1-2minutes, IF I don’t alt+tab, if I do it last 5minutes, only game’s loadscreen that I have that problem) because plenty of items are oversighted and can’t be deposited in our pvp locker, for example:
- PvP Arcane Convertor
- PvP X Catcher Skin
- Account Bound Unidentified Dyes
- Weapons that I already have a copy inside of the locker
- Remainings of PvP Salvage Kits
- 250 limit on PvP Crafting materials
Why can’t we PvPers have a bank for us to use in our Heart of the Mists to swap itens between our PvP chars?
If you are “worried” about people travelling there to use the bank instead of Lions Arch, just make the Bank NPC an unlockable NPC by PvP rank (15-25?)
You play a spirit ranger and you are stuck in the percentiles? I’ve seen it all.

Splendid work drkn
I still dont get it why people are whining about poor rewards in pvp in this game. I mean the top people are getting monetary rewards finally for their efforts. But as a mid level scrub, why whine about bad rewards?
Is it not enough to enjoy the game? Why do you people keep whining about stupid rewards? Why should the game reward you for being average? Just because you pour countless of hours of your pitifull life into this game? that is just plain stupid, and no reason to reward anything.
Finally a modern mmorpg has arrived that does not involve endless gear grinding to be competetive, like in wow arenas for example, and all people can think to do is to whine and whine and whine.
Well guess what? You are a pitifull scrub, and will allways remain as one, as long as you keep on whining about ‘rewards’ for simply just playing the game.
The best reward simply is just to learn more and beating yourself. No stupid timegrind crap should reward anyone anything.
We are surely all enjoying the game with this kittened meta. And yet more skins released for PvE only. Yes we’re all having a blast.
Macro to say MoooooGwooooow?
Agreed.
You know what game has a real, balanced meta?SWTOR.
Hate on it all you want, but everything that GW2 is lacking, SWTOR has.
Where can I buy tickets to your stand-up comedy show?
Nicholas Cage while…
I would advise you watch some GW2 PvP streams. The most important in streams is more often the explanations they can offer while playing and that doesnt really happen in most of the streams listed above. Granted those are great players but it seems to me you are more interested in the thought process of playing.
There are really informative and good players that keep explaining play-by-play, move-by-move why they do what as they go, just as if they are shoutcasting the game.
I’ll list a couple examples that are my favorites and helped me improve quite a bit:
Misa – Mesmer – Causality Stab – http://www.twitch.tv/causalitygaming
CMC – Elementalist – http://www.twitch.tv/cmcgw2/
Zoose – Elementalist – http://www.twitch.tv/thundercatshoooo/ (Think he has left GW2, not sure though)
Stunningstyles – Guardian – http://www.twitch.tv/stunningstyles
Caed – Thief – http://www.twitch.tv/narcarsis/

fact
Zzzz. That word shouldn’t be used that way, ever.
It is a fact. I manually checked the EU leaderboards out of curiosity. You can extrapolate the remainings.
Silentshoes. You can carry games if you are good enough. ELO Hell is a famous escuse used in many games, so I just ignore it, like the rest.
The Zaishen PvP training islands from Guild Wars would really fit well here…
Anything from Guild Wars would fit really well here. See the problem? They tried to fix to what wasn’t broken. I dont think any of us understand why.
Dude. That boat has already set sail…
They won’t change it now.
I was astonished when I saw that SoloQ rank points were 150 per victory. They actually nerfed the already mediocre rewards we got. If they had any sense SoloQ would be 200 per victory and TeamQ 250-300.
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
An ELO reset on-demand for the rich baddies? God no! Deal with your ranking and improve.
Just fyi, I know several people who are consistent pvpers, that don’t have their 10 matches yet. Combination of doing the new pve content and wanting the MMR to settle out some before playing.
I’d expect the number of players on the board to keep growing for a few more weeks.
And meanwhile I know for a fact atleast half of the people who are at the leaderboards won’t play until its absolutely needed before decay kicks in. So whoever is going to start SoloQ now, the ammount of people not playing is increasing aswell.
They are waiting for after PAX to do the big boys balancing. They better do a great job at it because all this waiting time screams flop.
4. Oh cool! Because I got stunbreakers on a 7-9 second cooldown.
Sorry, but all I see is a lack of knowledge issue here.
And you are telling me that the warrior ALWAYS hits his mace stun? It never gets dodged, bodyblocked by pets or blinded?
Atm warrior is very stong in 1vs1 in this meta imo. But I don’t see the problem here. He’s good in some 1vs1s, but if he is being pressured by the enemy team in a fight he can’t stand there long.
Im not saying Warrior is overpowered. But the solution you offered isn’t as ideal as blind/cripple/chill aplication and kitting.
The syncers I was talking about on the last post were guildies. So yeah, pretty obvious
That is why I’m thinking of going to EU. Higher population means the matchmaking (hopefully) is far more even.
Its even, but its still filled with cheese build like spirit rangers and necromancer. The state of the game is sad right now.
They should balance the freaking game before SoloQ leaderboards mean anything at all.
Dont expect to see significant increase of “skilled matches” with this current lame meta.
Let’s analyse the builds in order or power, which require nerfs because they aren’t fun.
1, Spirit ranger
2, S/d Thief
3, Terror necro
4, Stun lock warrior
5, Elixr r
1. Counter to Spirit Ranger is Warrior.
2. Counter to thieves is Spirit Rangers and Engies. Or just major CC when he is not evading. Learn to see when he is not evading. It’s not that hard.
3. Counter for this is a Warrior as well. CC the hell out of him and he won’t be a problem.
4. Bring stunbreakers and don’t waste them on the 1s shield stun like most idiots do. Use blind effectively.
5. If it’s a 1vs1 situation, why would you kill him when he’s standing on the elixir? Wait for it to disappear or knock him off it. You can also out dps it with some classes, even in 1vs1. If it’s a team fight you should have enough dmg to counter it easily.
Sorry, but all I see is L2P issue here.
4. Oh cool! Because I got stunbreakers on a 7-9 second cooldown.
Sorry, but all I see is a lack of knowledge issue here.
