… Don´t rely on your team. If possible make sure you can carry your team if its just kitten s all over.
It’s impossible to carry a bad team by yourself. You can only be one place at a time, and this is conquest mode. Points have to be held. You may be able to get a lot of kill pts by yourself, but you cannot assure the win with that kind of play.
This!
I’ve played several matches where people don’t care to even write in team chat.. Or where they just fight all over the place like headless chickens and are nowhere near any of the capture points.Ranking based on wins/losses doesn’t seem fair tbh.
Not fair? Would you rather ranking based on points so you can hotjoin your way into tournaments aswell?
Bad teams are perfectly carriable if you are good enough.
Just tell them you are pushing far alone. I usually 1v2 at far and get a hand at mid while they respawn.
Agree with most of the points except Elixir R. If the guy drops it, stop DPSing him and let him waste it, or just CC him away from the rez bubble. Its not that bad.
About S/D Thief. After using Larcenous the thief could get a debuff like Revealed, that makes the thief wait 1-2 seconds before being able to use flanking strike again. But if you do that, sword autoattack chain needs to be buffed because its utter crap at the moment.
If making that debuff is impossible due to technical difficulties, fixing shadow return so you can’t use it to get back while CC’ed would still do wonders in toning down S/D Thiefs. This way, when you DO happen to hit them, they get punished like they should.

Does it really matter? Since the updates occur hourly, the only interesting information are the minutes… and those are not affected by the time zone.
It’s the little things oversighted. If its meant to be EU why the hell not in an EU time zone?
If PvP is sold at 5-bucks edition or even free-to-play we could see an ENORMOUS population boost that PvP needs so much.
You cant make GW2 any esports-worthy if people need to pay 40-50bucks just for a percentage of the game. Sell PvP separately.
You have probably forgotten that this is MMORPG
You probably never played GW1. They did the same there (selling pvp-only version for a cheaper price)
Im positive that they will do the same for GW2 they are just trying to clean up the infrasctruture first. After we get templates and pvp rewards improved, expect that happening
It is happening yes. Yesterday my team beated 3-man and 2-man sync’ers.
That really says something about the skill of those sync’ers.
“What you lack in quality, you make up in quantity” applys here perfectly.

Well it would be best if they just merged NA and EU queues for PvP.
Then NA prime-hours fill in for EU least active hours and Eu prime-hours fill in for NA least active hours.
Win-win situation.
As title says:
Why are the Europe Leaderboards update times in PDT? Cant be hard to put the times in GMT for us EU folks, right?
Focus pull got a 1 sec delay to allow for counterplay.
i also agree the delay was kind of necessary, I play mesmer as my main class, i also think the pull was too fast, but… i think 1s is too long. Why is it that only focus 4 was the only CC skill has delay? what about GS#5? You will never see that coming. Or Guardian or whatever other instant CC skill.
May be reduce the delay by 0.5 seconds?
GS#5 has a nice telegraph in my opinion
OP -> worst in game (via general opinion) -> OP -> worst in game (via general opinion)
The funny thing is only 2 things happened between worst and OP:
- Eles built bunker as a reaction of the glass canon meta
- self-stuns on dagger (magnetic grasp and rtl) have been fixed.
It was more:
OP (beta damage) -> OP (even after beta nerf) Staff builds -> UP super staff nerf (healing coeficents on staff heals, blast finishers on EA, condition internal cd on cleansing water)-> OP D/D Bunker (S/D was better) -> Subpar what we have now.I wouldn’t go as far to say that we are underpowed, but defiantly feels like we are subpar. If the OP builds (Walker the Texas ranger, necros) were brought into line we would be in a much better place.
What?
Subpar=underpowered.
Focus pull got a 1 sec delay to allow for counterplay.
Ok, from what I see the biggest problem is people crave for the points, so best thing you can do is not being a point-hoe.
-Communicate
-If you are at capture point with someone else and you see noone coming, leave it and let him capture. Don’t worry about the points you get at the end of the game, be mobile. Base is secured? Go capture other base or help somewhere else, don’t lose time on capping points in 3 ppl.
-Do not waste time on finishing off the enemies when they are downed. Oh boy, this is so annoying. If you are 3v3 and one enemy gets into downed state don’t waste time to finish him off. Down the rest of the enemies. He is healing? Smack him with a hammer from time to time. Your teammate downed? Get stability and finish off downed enemy (of course keep an eye on your ally so noone does the same thing to him). If you finish off enemies too fast they respawn and come to the point you defend right away with full hp. Forcing them to bleed out gives you much more time and locks them out of combat. Someone tries to revive him? Keep hitting him them both. This is so simple yet usually there is an ele, he gets downed, from 3v3 fight this is now 2v1 because your teammates try to force finish off the ele, meanwhile enemies shoot them like ducks and ele pops the mist form. BAM. now they both are downed and get killed. Ele gets up and you are 1v3, this happens whole the time.
-If you are at one point and there is only 1 enemy I’m sure your two teammates can handle him whoever he wouldn’t be. There is no point to come 5v1. And even if you do that already do not stay all 5 to finish him off, I’m also sure 1 person can perform that hard task. You don’t get points? Boo hoo, just win the game already and stop caring about the points you get.
-You have a chance to ninja cap the base? Do it. Only 1 enemy defending and you can kill him? Do it and take it.
-Don’t fight till you die. Your health getting low and you are on cds? gtfo the fight and come back in few seconds. Noone will chase you and if they will chase you they are bad and you just helped your team. You are much more useful to your team alive, and getting out of combat and jumping back in after few seconds is faster than waiting on the respawn and running entire way.
-Don’t fight outside the capture points.
-Noone went treb? Go take it. Noone went skyhammer cannon? Go take it. Someone who is at cannon/treb has been attacked? Help him.
-Don’t go solo vs 3 enemies. If you control 2 bases and you want the third one so badly don’t go solo vs 3, regroup with your teammates (I don’t know why people run 1v3, die, rez, and go back there repeating the process).
-If someone is marking targets focus the marked target, if he is marking bad, you mark. This is very important, it is much faster to focus down enemies 1 by 1 than fighting 3v3 with everyone on different enemy.I don’t know what to write, these things are so obvious and people fail to understand the simplest logic involved. I always write what to do on /t chat and when people listen to me we always win. When I say one go henge rest go buff and then take keep someone always runs solo mine and dies there, 2 or even 3 go capture the henge, ending in you being solo or 2v4. This is very sad, if your team plays as a team you won it already. If everyone goes his own way you can’t do a thing. Let them focus that guardian and cry a little.
Yeah it really is obvious for experience players but it should be the “Terms of Agreement” before you join Solo Arenas. Lack of new-players advice is a fatal flaw in Anet’s priorities.
He plays a DPS guard build, staff gs
Then quit whining.
Please people, quit making these threads saying “This isnt viable”
Ele is still in a hard spot, but if condi meta disappears Ele is OP, and right now a strong build exists.
Stop marketing that build, or whatever you think you’re doing. Either you show it, or you shut your mouth about it.
You are just making yourself look like a kid bragging about his new toy to his friends, while saying they cant see it because its secret.
Lol. DuelingQ. Expect great amounts of bunkers and troll builds designed to outlast everything and annoy the other player. Just no. I already see plenty of people speccing for bunker with high sustain and going to these duel servers. This lasts until the owner of the arena arrives and kicks them out. Now imagine in a Q system, with no admin putting an end to the fight.
Besides the game is 5v5 focused, dont expect 1v1 queue because it would be far more broken than our current meta.
Perhaps a casual right click option to duel a friend right in the heart of the mists or in the open world.
Dont stomp in shadow refugee LOL
Every good thief weapon/utility kit can stomp safely without wasting our precious shadow refugee
This wouldnt be an issue if a proper tutorial was created.

Your nerf to Natures Vengeance makes no sense, you want to add even more RNG to the combat? Drop that one
Remove it from hotjoin too…
Fuuck Hotjoin.
Sugestions for Focus Fire #4:
- 1.Flamewall
(Basically you can now detonate Flamewall)
Flamewall can now be activated a second time after being laid on the ground, consuming the firewall and fire field but inflicting burning and knockback (burning duration and knockback increases the closer the enemies are to the center). - 2. Fiery Rampage
Move incredibly fast for x seconds, leaving a flame trail behind you that burns foes crossing it. Aditionally this trail can be detonated for damage and knockback (small knocback radius, similarly to engi’s shield)
Fiery Rampage would allow for some awesome combos with lightning flash and burning speed, just imagine a D/Focus charging on an unsuspecting enemy with fiery rampage + lightning flash to opponent’s feet, triggering the instant knockback into burning speed while he sits on the ground.
Instead of Flamewall being detonatable I created this Fiery Rampage which sounds pretty cool and adds some mobility to the focus.
Sugestions for Fire Focus #5
- New name: Infernal Outbreak
Channeled skill x seconds (3-4seconds?)
On release: flame blast animation around the caster
After full channel unleash a radial fire wave that deals damage and cure conditions on the caster.
(Damage and number of conditions cleansed increase with aamount of hits suffered during the channel (max 4 conditions?)
This skill is now a blast finisher.
Sinergizing trait buff:
Fire Trait Line, Grandmaster Persisting Flames, now aditionally, Infernal Outbreak condition removal affects allies.
Sugestions for Water Focus #4:
- Freezing Gust V1:
Same skill. Your next skill dazes for 1 second - Freezing Gust V2:
Same skill. Your next skill heals for 100% of the damage dealt.
V2 calls for a good distinction between a bad elementalist that spams skills (and therefor wastes the heal from V2 on a low damage skill) and a great elementalist who uses V2 and then swaps to Fire for a Phoenix to get a nice amount of healing
Sugestions for Water Focus #5:
- Comet
(No longer dazes)
Drops a comet on target that area that deals damage and destroys 3(4?) boons per target and leaves an ice field (5 seconds)
Unblockable. (Still can be dodged)
(Same falling time as Dragons Tooth)
The ice field is actually quite powerful if used correctly:
Using blast finishers, either through Infernal Outbreak, Arcane, or Phoenix, Dragons Tooth, or even leap finishers like Magnetic Grasp grants Frost Aura, reducing incoming damage besides chilling attackers.
The overall kit gives players interesting options, should you pop your blast finishers on flamewall for aoe might or the ice field for some damage mitigation? Different tradeoffs for different situations
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
Yeah just leave the match after it declares the winner and it will put you where you were.
Sigh. Only way to overcome this semi-failure is, on the next tourney, 10x the prize pool, add some unique reward to the winners, and watch the number of teams rise. Hell even PvErs will tag along
2 pug teams playing the final amazing
CC a pug? Clueless people everywhere.

Frozen Soil.
My favourite GW1 spirit. A double edged sword that could turn the tide of the battle or kill your team.
There were so many interesting skills in GW1. But unfortunately they watered GW2 ones in favor of the casual, laid back gameplay.
Psychogene, I am so freaking glad you are not a Game Developer.
Well, came to this game hoping for something “esport viable” but this is really just a sad state of affairs. Red circles all over the objective area and the classes with the most aoe and conditions wins cause they are super strong. Time to look for a new game I guess… /sigh.
Perfect example of newcomers (he bought that 12 days ago) that come test out PvP and end up caught in the worst possible balance state since launch, causing a very bad impression. And all of this because Anet doesnt want to do balance in the middle of PAX.
MORE FACEROLL PLS
What makes it worse is that enemy comp on that very specific map ahha
The Spirit of Nature I get it, and the other spirits usually follow by AoE but he said the pet, thats what I didnt quite understood
Just curious, what do you get for focusing the pet? Its not like the spirit ranger is specced for BM so couldnt we just ignore the pet?
@Authority
I dont think so. It can be statistically explained that similarly ranked players will have aproximately the same level of experience and quite possibly, success (win ratio), translating into similar ratings for similar pvp ranks. There are exceptions to the rule, like always.
The proof that the system doesnt consider pvpranks, or atleast play a much lesser role than you would think, is that when I was rank 23 I was constantly matched with and agaisnt ranks 40-55 and we were all similarly skilled, yet I was the only low rank. Those players were often surprised by how I played considering my rank and added me. Even exchanged some tips with some high leaderboards guys.
Rank does not, by all means , play a heavy role in matchmaking, if it even plays any role at all.
I have no problems in seeing rangers viable. But THIS isnt viable, this is an apex defender spirit ranger with little to none skill floor and extremely effective. They need to be brought down, as Necromancer’s new deathshroud. Check SoloQ picks the majority is necros and rangers trying to hop in the overpowered bandwagon in order to get to the top.
Hot join needs to be destroyed. There’s too many modes and too much fragmentation.
Players who just want a quick game, and don’t care about losing/wining/progression, should join a custom arena.
We should only have 3 modes:
- Team tPvP
- Solo tPvP
- Custom Arenas(I would vote on mists dueling as a 4th, but that’s me)
Arent Hotjoins in Custom Arenas?
Wait do ranks now show BEFORE the match starts? That wasnt happening before…
You should have thought about that when you decided to Rank up through hotjoins
Day 2 sync increased because it was all over the forums. That results in more losses for the non syncers
@uberkingkong Yeah problem is matchmaking tries to match you with teammates of equal rating and then enemies with equal rating, but because the playerbase is so low, it only has the small amount of players to work with and so it puts the ones with your rating on your team and because there are no more players Q’ing with similar ranking, it places on the enemy higher or lower rated players.
Matchmaking concept is fine, but doesnt work with a small playerbase.
It’s invisible for a variety of reasons, none of which being that it’s “not good” as you put it.
As for Foefire, a hotfix for that is coming. Aside from that, PvP and PvE teams are separate. Just because things are being fixed in PvE, doesn’t mean they aren’t being fixed in PvP. We don’t all do the same job on the same thing all at once.
We can’t control people not showing up for matches. All we can do is make the incentive to join matches higher than the incentive to not to join or leave.
Then you should start working on making the one thats actually visible be some sort of a representation of skill, and not time spent grinding hotjoins and what not. Yes Im talking about the awesome PvP Rank.
In a game that strives to be grind-free, linking PvP to a massive time dump instead of gameplay is just an absurd. And this is only for cosmetic rewards. An equal cosmetic reward in PvE would take max 2 days (CoF armor in PvE compared to PvP)
Not to mention the ammount of weapon skins unique to PvE: fractal weapons, event weapon skins that we must pve to use in pvp, and the new batch of champion loot weapons also unique to pve.
This is all a wondeful way to incentivize people to keep playing, for sure
