No. The blind outrage has missed the point. The expectation that ArenaNet can see through time with perfect clarity misses the point (and is pretty dang laughable considering they still don’t known when they’re going to release but people act like they had this all planned out from the outset…). That people are ignoring that ArenaNet has expressed a desire to make things right for people who bought the game recently misses the point.

Asking people to focus on the problem and not get wrapped around the axel that the FAQ stayed current with released information is most definitively NOT missing the point.

That’s just it, this wasn’t some unforeseen future that just crept up and hit them in the face, it was a conscious decision they made. There was no need to foresee the future, they didn’t need to see through time, they said one thing and then did another consciously.

Then tried to cover their own butts, if that is not the case then they are failing at making it look different.

Oh come on, are you trying to convince yourself ? If you go and buy a car and they tell you it needs tires are you going to not listen ? You just sound foolish now.

The bottom line of it is, mistakes can be made by people, companies, anyone. Maybe the left hand didn’t tell the right hand what the plan was, it happens but, it is the way you handle the problem after the fact. From what I and so many other can see they are not handling it at all, they are trying to hide it like children.

That they decided to make the base game a pack-in does leave them with having to deal with customers who acted based on the old info up to a point (because we don’t know WHEN they decided they’d throw in) but keeping the FAQ current with public information is something to be encouraged, not scorned…

You can choose to twist it however you like, people were told they needed the base game, they purchased the base game, Anet took the money, change the xpac to include the base game and then changed the FAQ’s to say the base game will be included. Had they not taken the money, or announced that the base would be available with the xpac then changing the FAQ’s would have been fine. People have bought the game because of those FAQ’s and put time into it, do they plan on compensating their time and progression now on top of the base refund ?

They are a company and should be held to the same standards as every other company, this wouldn’t fly with any other company.

It is anything but classy, giving the new players a gift is all fine and good but this is blatantly trying to cover up their previous FAQ’s that stated you need the base game to be able to play, which suggested that people needed to buy it before hand, which SEVERAL people did as per Anets answer.

You and I have a very different definition of classy.

And they said they will compensate users within a specific time frame. Stop hating.

I wouldn’t say he/she is hating, they took the easy way out, they were not upfront with their customers, and it now makes all those sales look shady.

If you hit someone with your car and its an accident, you stick around explain what happened, you don’t push them into a ditch and cover them with twigs and then try to play the accident card once your caught followed by offering to pay the hospital bill.

As a company they have a responsibility to be honest and upfront about their products, running a company isn’t high school. There are rules and laws they must follow, just like any other business. If they are actually trying to cover up aspects of this, it makes their word or business practice questionable. If it turns out to be illegal they could have opened up a can of worms that, intentional or not, they really don’t want to go down that road.

Not at all, WoW does this crp all the time and gets away with it, just need to avoid certain things. If it were “HULK, Smash” then yes, but if it were say “Bulk, Smash” then no and its impossible for them to copyright the color green.

Its good but def not the best. DAoC still holdsa that title … at least until CU comes out then the flame might have to be passed on.

Now if your talking about recent releases (last 5 years) then yes, if DAoC wasn’t so dated, it would still be far superior to GW2.

To be perfectly honest, getting rid of these two buffs is dumb. I have 2 accounts, one is rank 900+ with the buffs which is nice for min/maxing my builds, the other is rank 100+ I’m just shy of getting my first buff.

On my account without the buffs I do just fine, they are nice to have but they aren’t game breaking by any stretch of the imagination. The two buffs do not make players good or skilled, I view them as an achievement/quality of life buff that makes builds a bit easier to work with. My character without them functions just fine, its not very often I find someone who has the buffs that can insta gib me, more times then not I win the fight without them.

New players need to earn these buffs, I think it is completely reasonable to view it this way. Do you just get handed a full set of gear once you hit 80 because your 80 now ? No you don’t, sure it’s not overly difficult to get the gear but really the buffs are not overly difficult to get either.

They are pretty much the only worth while WvW skills to take aside from the supply skills and repair skills. If you want to hug siege all day then you don’t need these buffs and can dump those point into what ever your flavor of siege may be.

I mean seriously if we are just out to make everything easy mode for everyone so we are all on the same playing field, give me a full set of ascended for my new account, take levels out of fractals because I should be able to start at the highest level so its fair, basically why make us work for anything ?
