Where is my Seiran Plush Backpack?
Charr are easy to stuff, whereas Sylvari are made out of wood so wouldn’t be very plushy.. Wouldn’t make a bad shield though.
I play as a Female Human Thief and never had problems. I could always use my utility skills, change them in both ghost form and charr form (ascalon fractal)
Did path 3 as Female Human Guardian and Female Norm Mesmer, no problems
since the patch?
I think that is a good idea Ratty. This cross hair should have an option to be turned off and on and I think it should be visible even if the pointer is invisible, for example when you are moving the camera with the mouse.
Definitely, I play my Engi quite often like this, will move the mouse to the center of the screen, hold down the right mouse button, and use the center of my screen as my target point, while strafing.
So having a small reticule like that would make this infinitely easier.
Well seeing as you can’t apparently change utilities at all in the Ascalon Fractal as a Charr, they are now looking into it as a bug they introduced.
Trait Steal to 1,500 -> Mug + stealth + backstab, plus all the other goodies that come with Stealing.
Plus, traited, it’s a 21 second CD.
True but that’s no use in WvW where you need to use ranged attacks to get rid of enemy siege and try to keep them off the walls.
diversity, in WvW thieves are king of solo roaming, and harassing small groups. But they are not good at taking out objects on walls.
Rangers are similar, good solo roaming, but they lose a lot of damage in sieges due to lack of pet damage (pets can’t path up walls).
I have a similar issue with my Ele, as a D/D I have no long range attacks without swapping weapons. Which is not really viable in a combat situation. If I swap to Staff I probably will have to keep it when we breach, which really is not ideal. So I can do one or the other.
I was wondering something similar. An alternate Cursor which along with the pointer put a small cross hair on the ground (with a lengthened cross hair), so you could get a gist of where an AOE or wall would be placed without turning off fast casting.
You could even combine it with your idea, so you have a reticule on the ground while in combat mode, and when you hold down the key for a AOE Ability the full size circle is displayed until you release.
Something along these lines would make working with an Engi much easier.
Have you turned off Right-Click Targeting?
They gave us an option so they might have messed around with the backend on targeting.
Since the patch, where they fixed the fact that Medium armor characters occasionally bug out due to the Ghost Transform and can’t use Utilities, it seems that no-one can change Utilities at all, can people confirm that this is indeed a change and that before the patch you could change Utilities while in Ghost form.
FIX!
this is not a bug! One person must go to the jumping puzzle. Then jump down after opening the door. then follow the NPC and kill the mobs.
ONE PERSON GOES UP!
THEN COMES BACK DOWN!done this 3 times now and works a charm. Enjoy.
I can say this works for me. We had this issue the first time we did the dungeon. Since then 4 people stick with Kiel.. One bounces up, pulls level, drops back down.
Though this does need fixing. I think it’s caused by everyone jumping up, and then going backwards through the corridor to Kiel killing the mobs on the way. So that when Kiel gets there she knows she should be charging into the enemy, but there are no enemy there.
What class/gender are you? Can you cite another transformation that doesn’t prevent you from changing utility skills? Only the male/medium armor was changed, and I tried out several other transformations and they all lock my utility skills in place.
I believe our team was me Sylvari/Female/Elementalist, I believe we also had a Asura/Male/Mesmer, Human/Female/Mesmer, Asura/Female/Elementalist and a Human/Female/Elementalist. We had all done the dungeon before and we have never had issues changing Utilities before.
Before it was just like playing your character normally with the graphics changed, it wasn’t like other transformations that lock things out.
I have played this dungeon with ALL CLASSES and ALL RACES, and I have never had an issue changing Utilities before (Though I had seen the bug where you couldn’t use Utilities once or twice). Generally I swap Utilities between most fights in dungeons, so I would have noticed it. And as I said I run this Dungeon a couple of times a week on average, I generally run Ice Bow in my 9 slot for the 4 burrow part immediately after the transform, and swap to Mist Form in this slot for the final Rumbulus fight.

I really like the dungeon. The content is difficult, but not impossible. While the Achievements are fiendish. I do wish however they had a Title attached.
I think this is just about the level they want to pitch. do-able with a Guild team or a Pug team with semi-decent players. But with stretch goals for more hard-core players.
A good way to do the boxes, is instead of trying to get onto the top of them, jump onto the lower boxes and they will give you enough height so that you can jump over the the low lazer beam.
The only problem I have with the fight is the inability to really hold aggro on a target. This resulted in a lot of ping-ponging the golem across the center of the room, keeping him supercharged far too long.
Get together, and move as a group, it really helps with this. You can get to the point where there shield is down 80% of the time. Which makes them die so much faster. Also it seems like Crippling them stops them pulling, so Rangers, Thieves here is your place to shine.
Engineer Backpacks are still bugged. When you change to a kit, it hides your backpiece. HOWEVER as soon as you use an ability it reappears, so you end up with both backpacks shown.
I’ve seen this bug on Charr, Human and Asura. But I believe it’s across the board.
It also doesn’t seem to matter what backpack. When I wear my festive backpack on my Charr, it’s hard to see because of it’s size but if I look hard enough some bells are sticking out the top of my Kit pack. With the Tentacle Backpiece, the Wings and the Jetpack it’s really obvious.
Can we please get a fix.
(edited by Ratty.5176)
This was never the case before Jeffrey, something has been changed. I run this path at least 2 or 3 times on average a week, utilities were never locked in place before.
Yep, something has been changed, now Utilities are locked in on your character after transform, this was NEVER the case before. Somethings been changed.
My Ele has a set of Knights Armor, every piece but 1 was brought for either Badges of Honor or Dungeon Tokens and then transmuted over except the Gloves which were a drop from fractals. Even though the gloves had a Karma T1 skin transmuted on them they still show at the vendor.
So it looks like if the item which you transmuted is sellable then the Legendary will now be sellable. Which someone above has linked a picture of with his Twilight.
I think there is a place for some more intelligent AI in places in Dungeons. Lets take the Golem room in CoE.
You have a mix of Ranged and Melee Golems.
What do people do, they agro the whole lot. The players move round the corner and all the mobs run around the corner and bunch up, as once the ranged mobs are able to target the players they are happy, even though they are now sitting in melee . Even changing these so the ranged mobs try to actively avoid melee, would make a huge difference. The ranged mobs would come round the corner, get a target lock on the players and then start backing up along the corridor while shooting players. Suddenly if players want to keep them all bunched up, they have to use slows, round them up with rears, Immobilise them with glue bombs, pull them into the corner with Focus 4 etc. Suddenly a fight which is a case of LoS round corner, becomes a bit more tactical.
Another example is places where mobs can’t get a target on the enemy, they become invulnerable. This is really annoying, it would be far more interesting if when a mob can’t get target but are taking damage they just move away from the person causing them damage.
In otherwords, there are lots of places where a bit better AI brings more skills into play.
Yep Scholar Runes are perfectly acceptable.
1, my vote goes to 1.
yeah it’s simple trolling. specially because if you swap to d/d and the dagger were on the invisible bag the staff goes in the spot left by the main dagger… so it’s not that easy for a 2h being deposited outside the invisible bag if he was really using one.
that said when i deleted my extra polla i had to type the name of the item, i guess (i will not try) same goes for legendary. last but not least somebody already proved legendary cannot be sold. if he had one you should have known
If you go onto your Hero screen and drag out the staff, then drag in the D/D it will drop into the first available slot. I’ve lost my staff in my bag a few times this way.
But if it can’t be sold or deleted (without popping in the name). It’s probably in the bank or somewhere in their bag. Are all the bag tabs maximised?
You already have fairly diverse teams.. You are now seeing Mesmer/2 Warriors/Ele/Guard.. the problem is it’s still the same classes everytime.
If you want diversity you either need to give the underdog class, something that makes them as useful as the main classes. Or change the boss dynamics so they are useful.
Wow, might help if I read the post lol.. yeah agree with what your saying. Too many hipsters that want to have the “freeplay” feel.
TBH, I can understand this. I do run groups with full zerks and the perfect composition, and I totally accept that they are faster. But I don’t actually find them that fun, compared with a mixed group with a few players that are getting the hang of things.
People set goals for themselves in this game, and if your goal is to run every dungeon as fast as you can, then that’s cool with me. But if your goal is to have a bit of a challenge, and a laugh with your mates, I feel that is just as viable decision.
I find personally it much more rewarding to get a group of low level toons of any class through dungeons.
Is my way of playing any less valid than getting together with a group of likeminded people and trying to do a dungeon as easily and fast as we can.
I believe that is impossible, as none of the mobs now give XP to stop people doing just this.
It’s a mix of things that are wrong, Improving Control really won’t stop full Zerk. none of the Control effects rely on stats.
What you need is more non-spike damage, so people have to heal through more. Rather than just dodging spike. It may also be a case that none specced healing is a bit too good, and maybe it needs lowering and the ratios on healing power need a bit of a boost.
The other issue is where this non-spike damage comes from. If it’s melee mobs, then DPS groups can kill them instantly. If it’s ranged they can cycle reflects. Possibly if your doing mobs you need some on death explosion effects to mean that killing them ultra fast isn’t always the way. If coming from the boss, it probably wants to be similar to a players auto-attack, fast recharging hit for moderate damage (this would also make confusion better, which wouldn’t be a bad thing).
Also the way that Power/Prec/Crit scales is I feel another issue. more or less they multiply each other so you get an Stat^3 situation if you run all 3. This means they have far more effect than any other stat when used together. I don’t feel this is necessarily a huge issue, but should be taken into account, if an entire team takes Power/Prec/Crit you can lower certain boss fights to 12 secs. If you can succesfully put down more DPS it should always make a fight faster, however by the point were you can put down so much DPS that a fight lasts 12 secs the risk vs reward goes right out the window, You probably have to at the most dodge once, and maybe put up 1 wall, so the risk is really minimal.
I feel there needs to be some kind of DPS buffering. Now this could come in many ways.
- It could be a buff which lowers damage. Maybe it gets a stack of for each X Damage it takes in a second. so if you do 30k Damage in a second it may get 3 stacks (This immediately make boon removal more useful if you want to do extreme damage).
- It could be a pulse damage that comes out every time it takes X amount of it’s health. Therefore to do the most damage you would have to DPS and Heal through the pulses.
- It could be a speeding up of attack speed depending on how much DPS it has coming in.
But with the situation as it is at the moment DPS can cut through a lot of a bosses dynamics.
Defiant also needs looking at, there needs to be more bosses that where CC is a meaningful and necessary part of the fight. I don’t think it should be CC or do nothing. But CC and do significantly more makes a lot of sense.

Why would your staff go to your safe box at all? unless you swap it for an item already in your safe box. you pull your staff out of your equipped weapons it will go in the first available slot in your bag as there is no Legendary box in the first place.
But Legendaries can’t be sold anyway apparently. But anyhow it’s kitten annoying with Exotics to constantly be playing hunt the Exotic.
And invisible bags are useless, when the weapon doesn’t go in there in the first place.
Get an invisible bag for items you DO NOT WANT to be seen by vendors, never had the problem of not being able to put an item in it.
Well that is useful advise. The issue she’s having is very similar to the issue I have, that weapons don’t always go where they should. It’s annoying to have to go searching for your Staff in your normal bags, because FOR SOME REASON, it’s not gone into your invisible bag when you swapped weapons.
The problem would probably be fixed by a Exotic & Higher Rarity Invisible Bag. Shame these don’t exist.
I would love the option to add certain Items in your Equipment panel to favorites like you can do with dyes. While something is selected as a favorite, it can’t be destroyed, sold and turns up at the top of the equipment panel in a favorites section like dyes.
I would also love item in your backpack to have a line round the outside denoting their rarity, rather than having to hover over them to find out.
This game has so many small UI tweaks that would make everyones life so much easier.
I hate the fact that when I swap from daggers to staff, one of my daggers invariably goes walkies, and gets put in a normal bag rather than my invisible one. Also what is with items showing as their original item rather than their skinned version in the shop. EG my daggers show as CoF daggers not as Soulshards.

Long story short: if you want to pug, make a guardian, if you want to join random grps, keep necro, make guardian or mesmer.
Let some other poor soul play warrior and keep on believing warrior will always be best
TBH just have 2 classes with different roles that you enjoy. There will be times when Necro won’t be the best choice, and even then a bit of variety is good for you.
I’m really enjoying my Warrior now, but it wasn’t always the case and it will never be my favorite character to play on. But there will be times when I get in a group and find that the teams DPS is really low, and in those situations the Warrior might swap in to help on that front.
Having options is never a bad thing
(Also just because this game is designed not to need a Trinity, doesn’t mean that some team comps don’t work better than others. You can play with 3 Support and 2 Hybrids, and you will be able to do most dungeons but it might get tedious, and there are a few fights were lacking DPS really makes the fight much harder.
Same is true with Necros, I don’t mind a Necro on my team, but I definitely try to avoid 2 Condition based Necros in the same team.)
(edited by Ratty.5176)
I’m sure I’ve heard of it happening to Ele.. I believe it is caused by Weapon Bundles.. so make sure you don’t have one equipped at the end of the fight, see if that helps.
People are even calling me elitist and jerk when i just point out that our guardian could use wall of reflection at alphard so we won’t wipe again, using the argument of “play like you want”. Something must be really going wrong in their heads.
Yeah had the same thing on a Asuran Fractal run. Guardian refusing to help out the team with Walls of Reflection, because apparently there are different builds and everyone doesn’t have to play the same.
And to be honest there are different builds, but just because I run a D/D ele doesn’t mean I don’t swap in a Focus when that will be more useful to the team.
The CoF speed run team is just that, it’s a run done for the sake of being really fast. I wouldn’t call that people wanting people with a certain spec to make up for their bad playing. Just a team wanting to get things done in the fastest time possible.
Where I do have an issue is a team needing a third Guardian in Fractals because they can’t dodge an arrow. Or the other 2 not being able to rotate reflects well. That is really people wanting to be carried. I really get worried when a team mate says OK we need a Guard in the last slot when we already have a Guard and an Ele or a Guard and a Thief.

Look at what the Daily is, that will tell you which zones people are more likely to be in.
Eg. Ascalonian Event Completer means more people with be over in the Charr homelands.
As i said, don’t unlock too many parts of the map. One unlocked area gives you about 2-5% of a level, if i remember right.
written before your post.
Usually chilling in front of Arah.
How the heck did you manage that, you get a level for completing the Starter zone. and even running it down to Arah would probably get you a level or two for zone exploration.
As I sad you can skip this^^
Just join a friend in sPvP
avoiding all the waypoints & points of interrest can be difficult but I can image it’s possible
I wondered if it was an sPvP trick. However even avoiding the WP you get XP just for entering parts of the map.

I sometimes join groups with my level 1 ranger, so far noone kicked me :o
Wouldn’t that still need to be in the Starter instance?
Lol this is surprising to me. I usually try and join the most elitest post on the lfg to ensure decent skilled groups. But even then, most of the warriors dont have proper dps rotations and the mesmers often dont have a clue. Ive never had a gear check group that is that fussy lol.
Yeah I’ve never had issues, even though for a while I was running a Cavalier Backpack, because there was no-way I was paying 5g for a rare guild backpack, when I was saving up FR for the Ascended one for the character. The Runes on my armor aren’t even quite the ideal ones.
Is it really that bad on NA servers? Ive never had an issue finding a speedrun group for cof on EU when providing gear check. Heck most pug groups on EU dont even care about axe+mace and on average dont know what they are doing. Noone has kicked me for not having sigil of smothering yet.
I suspect the group you joined may be a bunch of morons and thought scholar runes are bad, happens more often than you’d think.
I had a friend on EU that was kicked for having Ruby Orbs in his Armor.
So literally kicked for having “X of the Bezerker” in a zerker group.
That way, you can know why ppl hate ranger and thief in their team.
for example, in AC p1 burrow part. those two class are basically useless. Not actually true, both are actually quite good at protecting Hodgins. Both are naturally fast, and can put down enough AoE to pick up mobs, and have enough dodges and evasion not to die doing that. I would say they are better than a lot of classes at this job as it really isn’t about Tanking. They are less useful on Burrows.
I regularly did this job on my Ranger as many Guardians have issues on it. I know I don’t particularly like doing it on my Guard.
I think you never stay at mid, right?
If your teammate cant destroy burrows fast, simply cripple a few mobs wont make a different at all.
If you wanna destroy burrows fast, you need to MELEE. So, a warrior with PPT is more useful than a ranger with PPC.
At least get a warrior, would you?
I have a Warrior, but defending Hodgins is not about Burrow Destroying it’s about Kiting and picking up agro, which a Ranger can do fine.
And yes, I generally always end up mid, people can understand HIT THINGS, DO DAMAGE.. far better than they understand, keep moving, pick up agro, keep away from Hodgins. You get kind of annoyed when you fail for the 3rd time because a Warrior is sitting on Hodgins with his GS out 100B and getting chain knocked down while the enemy cleave the person your trying to save. Warriors and Guardians are just not really as well set up for this job as some other classes, I’m not saying they can’t do it, I’ve done it on both my Warrior and my Guardian, but they don’t compare to an Engineer doing this job, which can move fast, dodge regularly, and can AoE behind him as he does so, to pick up agro. Rangers and Thieves are probably just behind the Engi at this job for similar reasons, they can keep damage on the mobs with Traps, Shortbow AoEs while moving all the time. Eles are not bad at it either, but why would you have an Ele doing the job when they could be taking down burrows with conjured weapons.
Seeing as you can’t crit burrows what does PPT and PPC have to do with the price of beer? Yes, a Warrior will do better at killing burrows as they have higher base damage. but a Ranger can do fairly OK melee damage with a pet attacking the burrow at the same time, and even cleaves with it’s sword. If we are talking about Rangers that don’t melee I can totally see your point.
But my comment wasn’t even about burrow killing, which they a mediocre at best against, it’s about defending Hodgins which I would say they are good at..
(edited by Ratty.5176)
Most people want superior smothering for 10% damage against flame legion or whatever it is, but superior smothering is kind of useless outside of CoF.
I’m now running Sup Sigil of Night, same stats as Smothering, but works in 70% of dungeons. But I do need to get a second GS and Mace at some point for when it’s day.
We knew exactly what to do, we just couldn’t stay alive well enough to be effective
If his health went from 30% -> 100% it means you reset him, in otherwords 1 member of the group was not kiting him, and you were all too far away so he thought the fight was over.
If it was an issue of not being able to stay alive, that really is a case of learning to dodge. He has a really big tell before he does the AoEs and you can normally survive long enough to dodge out of them if you are paying attention. His slice attack also has a tell but it’s sometimes hard to see behind the effects.
In other works keep an eye at his animations if you want to be able to dodge the circles.
If 3 people are going down within seconds, then it’s really just a sign that you need to pay attention better.
But it’s also a case that one person can kite him, giving your team time to revive people. Don’t try to revive while he’s spitting Ectoplasm at you. try to pull him away from the corpses.
We knew exactly what to do, we just couldn’t stay alive well enough to be effective

Me and a group of experienced guildies all with over 1000 hours played and plenty of dungeon experience couldnt finish him off today, tried for over an hour. The wells he drops kill chances for clean revivals to get back to full strength.
It was pretty frustrating when his health went from about 30% to full instantly for some reason(no oozes were around)
We tried once to set all traps to full before triggering any, and we got him down to about 5% health but then we wiped, and by then we’d lost motivation to keep going, but that seems like the best choice
OK a few things that help
- Don’t hit him more than you need to when he is in Ghost form, as he will create more Ghostlets and then eat them for self healing.
- If people go down, wait till he is a ghost, then one person kite him without hitting him, while the rest get people up. This will stop him healing himself, and as long as people keep aggro he won’t reset. This gives you time to sort your kitten out.
- Power 1 on your gun will cause him to spawn Ghostlets but will not aggro him.
That said, it’s the reason why I run PVT gear on my guardian for ‘harder’ dungeons like Arah and FotM 40+. If I want damage, I’d bring my zerker warrior along. If I want to make sure that we don’t wipe 20 times because one person in the party is made of paper and can’t dodge to save their lives – literally – then my PVT guardian draws aggro while the zerker whatevers can do their DPS.
I think Knights might be better for this Job BTW, the 4 things that draw agro are
*Proximity
*High Toughness
*Damage
*Low Vitality
So swapping out some of your Vitality for Precision will improve 2 of these 4 criteria. So things will stick to you even better.
This boss does actually take condition damage doesn’t he? So having a Carrion or Rampager Build toon might actually speed it up, as it has max Power and Condition at the same time?
Yes, it would speed things up, if you run something that does condi damage.
But, that gear would render you pretty useless in any other part of the game, so I don’t see why you would bother.
If you actually look at Nikaido’s video again, you’ll see the only conditions we apply is burning (from the ele’s Fiery Greatsword), Vulnerability, the occasional cripple/Chill/confusion (no idea where the chill comes from though), and a sometimes poison from the reflected projectiles.
So, yes, condi damage would make you kill the boss faster, but seeing how getting a condi set just for this boss is pretty pointless, I don’t see why bother when a bunch of power builds would kill him just as fast anyway.
I would disagree on the full power build killing just as fast, A power build relies on Prec/Crit for most of it’s damage, a condition build though lower in damage does do far more damage than a Power build with crit removed.
I personally don’t have an issue with one condition build character in a team, as long as your not hitting cap your fine, and there are places where conditions are good.
My main feeling, it’s like anything there are places where things aren’t the best choice, It’s why I have all weapons available for my Ele. Most Condition users should be aware of this and possibly have a second set of gear for situations where their build doesn’t really work. The only real place being the burrows on P3 AC. Path 1 they can guard Hodgins, almost every class can do this job.
And they aren’t made for kittens who don’t adapt their utility bar for the fight too. Your guardian is not.. running shield of the avenger ? mesmer.. doesn’t run focus? it’s time for a kick.
This has always amazed me… The fact that some people simply refuse to change weapons according to situations and then complain it’s too hard/not doable…
Not to mention, the damage between a full zerk warrior and a PVT warrior is a whopping 0 because the only thing that matters on the boss (like Nikaido already pointed out) is power. Crit doesn’t hit, so doesn’t do extra damage either.
The only difference you might get is people not using Might stacks or stacking Bloodlust, but that’s it.
This is one the only bosses in game where you’re ‘better’ off running PVT gear and PVT will actually give you more survivability.
This boss does actually take condition damage doesn’t he? So having a Carrion or Rampager Build toon might actually speed it up, as it has max Power and Condition at the same time?
I see people posting things like “Simin is easy now” all the time, but keep in mind: with players new to this dungeon or simply bad players or even PTV geared players this encounter can be like trying to roll a rock up a hill.
Last week I had a grp where 2 had condition build, 2 PTV gear and the only one doing dmg was me as a ranger with zerker build and gear.
So to summarize this whole rambling: arah p4 is not a dungeon you can just walk inside and muddle your way through. While this might work in p3, p4 you have to do a gear check at the beginning and make sure everybody understands tactics.
Not everybody has to have zerker gear, but I can tell you from experience, that 2x PTV + 2x condition build with mediocre players in addition -> simin will simply not die.
I have to agree.. there is definitely a level you have to meet DPS wise, it’s not stupidly high, but the higher DPS you have the more leeway you have elsewhere eg, speed to clear petrify, how quickly you get the sparks in.
In other words go in knowing you need DPS. Have things like Powerful Potions of Undead Slaying and DPS food at the least. And make sure your Highest DPS is on Simin at all times.
Yeah this is why I try to do them as part of leveling, I find them much less annoying when done at their correct levels as you get most of a level out of them.
Otherwise it’s just annoying when you get in a group and no-one can open.
STEP 1) Choose 2 people to run sparks. We gave this job to the 2 Guards, more likely to grab aggro, lower DPS.
Any specific reason why guardian is more likely to grab aggro of sparks?
I believe most mobs consider 4 things when they decide their target
*High Toughness
*Proximity
*Low Vitality
*High DPS being used against them
Now as you can’t cause damage to the enemy that last one doesn’t matter. But Guardians have high base Toughness and low base Vitality.
