Fractal Weapons Attainable and Still Rare

I personally still feel that one or even 2 of the parts which you can get for Pristine Fractal Relics / Relics, should also be able to be got from breaking Fractal Weapons.

So for Example Maybe the recipe might need

2 x Fractal Metal Shard – (Can be brought for 1000 Fractal Relics each, OR Can be Salvaged from Fractal Weapons)
1 x Fractal Weapon Core (Purchased from vendor for 20 PFR, based on weapon you want)
3 x Core (Dropped at 40+ or made by Combining Shards)
25 x Crystaline Dust

For an Example.

I would go make Fractal Weapons salvage to a token + some ectos. 3 (or possibly 2) tokens can be spent at a vendor for a weapon of your choice.

That way people that have been running FotM for months and have warehouses full of the wrong weapon aren’t left out in the cold.

critical damage resistance/immunity in PVE?

The issue is multi-fold Maridot but it all adds up together.

  1. Power/Precision/Crit is exponential in how they stack. If you have stats in one of them it increases the effect of all the others.
  2. Most fights can be survived without Toughness/Vitality/Healing, using just your base heal.
  3. Healing stat doesn’t have a huge effect.
  4. Other Support is not affected by any stat. A Wall of Reflection doesn’t refect X amount of damage modified by Toughness. It just reflects everything.
  5. Most bosses only do spike damage which can be dodged, with very little fast sustained damage (they are missing auto-attack type abilities).
  6. A lot of bosses have a blind spot inside there hit circle, which means that instead of risking more meleeing, it’s actually safer.
  7. A lot of Control is useless in boss fights.

TBH to fix the issue you need to look at all these things and try to even them out, so Risk/Damage, Healing/Incoming Damage, Melee/Range and Control/Support/DPS are all balanced better. There are a lot of places the balance is hugely out of wack.

- if USA gets nuked, ftp server is unavailable but I still have my box at home,
- if home burns down, I still have FTP server,
- in case of zombie invasion, I flee with my car which has at least one key in the trunk,
- in case of war, at least one key is in the country I’ll be at the time.

o_o;

Well, in the event of US getting nuked, or Zombie invasion, it’s good to know you’ve got your bases covered and you can still get a few dungeon runs in on GW2.

:D

Is it possible to move your toons to a EU server after the US one gets nuked? just asking?

Elementalist might be up your Alley, they can be built to be very tough, and can work well both close and at range (the only issue is you have to choose which before the fight)

The Engineer can also be very tough if specced right, and can move between ranges very well, it doesn’t really do melee, but bombs, grenades and flamethrower all work good up close and personal.

THE FIX FOR WvWvW Population Issues

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ratty.5176

Ratty.5176

A much better fix would be lowering the cost in resources to build siege as part of the outmanned buff. I would make it easier for a underpopulated server to defend and take forts fast without affecting a) 1v1 fights – b) meaning people on higher populated servers can’t get into WvW.

Another idea would be to make camps – forts spawn more/better NPCs while outmanned. To make them slightly harder to take. Even giving Keep lords a significant buff.

Maybe even add multiple tiers of outmanned buff. So if you really are outnumbered 2-1 you really do get much tougher, but giving players higher stats would be something I would be careful about.

I love the argument of WoW is successful so, whether you think it is good or bad, it should be mimiced to be successful. The reason I love this argument is that it leaves out the simple fact that every single game since WoW that has attempted to mimic WoW has been unsuccessful. From this, the only thing I can take in is that in order to be successful you have to pave your own way and ignore what WoW did because doing anything they did because they’re successful will in no way help you become successful.

I don’t agree with Mimicking WoW just because it’s successful. But I do think because WoW is what 80% of the community probably knows, missing out some base functionality (LFG, Guild Controls, GUI manipulation) does make this game feel a bit unfinished. General quality of life things should be emulated unless there is a reason not to (EG. People feeling Inspect hurts the community, whether it does or not)

That’s all fine and good, but not what the OP is asking for. The OP is asking to mimic WoW for WoW’s sake. Not because it’s an actual improvement on the game.

Not really. He listed things that he felt WoW did better, not just everything WoW does. He didn’t mention adding Shared material nodes, spreading loot across people rather than each having a seperate roll, and he definitely didn’t mention Trinity.

I think it’s fine to ask for items you think other games do better to be added. I think WAR did certain things better, but I don’t want their Gear progression. However their Chat system and Guild Halls hell yeah. If I wanted to play WAR I would be playing WAR, GW2 does a lot of things right. But there are things it’s just missing.

Raiding is a good example. It has good things and bad things in WoW

PROS

  • Gives content for Guilds to do together.
  • Gives more challenging end game content

CONS

  • Is heavily gear gated
  • Can end with a group doing all the work and some people just DPSing.

Am I pro larger scale group content? YES.
Do I want Raids as they are implemented in WoW? NO.

If you take what WoW had, work out how you could implement something similar without Trinity (I know it’s possible), and remove the negatives. I really am pro Raids.

critical damage resistance/immunity in PVE?

Ratty.5176

Really bad idea. Making them immune to Critical Damage, is just the same as making some bosses immune to Condition Damage.

This is not to say that there maybe shouldn’t be some buffering. But it should be a gradual buffering and should not be targeted against any build in particular and more towards groups that do huge damage across the board.

  • It could be that tough bosses put up a field that reduces the damage they take if they take more than a certain amount of damage a second. (but you could knock them out of it)
  • Spike Bosses could do damage pulses that increase in severity the higher the damage coming in.
  • More melee bosses could get an enrage bonus so they do more damage.
  • Caster Bosses could get a cooldown reduction so groups that do more DPS have to dodge more.

In other words having more DPS should always do more damage. But it should be harder to do that damage. SO it becomes a balance between Damage and Support/Surviabilty. Rather than just the straight sum you have at the moment. I can dodge this mobs spike attacks so the only thing that is worth taking is DPS.

Implement mounts – I don’t really feel it is necessary, there are better things you could spend development time on. (Give me Skritt as a playable race before mounts)

Improve PvE culling – Totally agree. As a guild co-ordinator, spliting the guild into groups is much harder than necessary because you can’t see how many people are in each group without walking over to them. When you can’t even see all your party, commanders, guild mates within Shortbow range of you there is something iffy.

Implement raids – I actually agree with this. I wouldn’t mind larger group content as long as it wasn’t gear gated. Yes you can argue that there are large open world raids, and this is true, but name one of them (OK maybe Grenth) that the mechanics can’t just be ignored due to number of people involved. I personally would love for guilds to be able to open instanced versions of certain boss fights. Jormag anyone with just 20-40 of your guild sound fun? Saying that, this is coming in a bit with the Guild Puzzles and the Guild Challenges.

Loot tables – It’s not a bad idea, it does already exist in game Final Rest anyone? But I wouldn’t mind seeing more cosmetics in the game.

Guild Calendar – YES just yes..

Improve minipets – I know a lot of people say invisible bags, and yeah I use one myself. However a Mini-pet slot (with a tick like shoulders or helm) that you could wack your pet in and have it not disappear to collectables. And then it auto summons the pet when you enter a zone if it’s ticked… Hell yeah.. would be much better.

Improve outmanned buff – A lowering of the cost to build siege when outmanned would I feel help a lot.

Now for my own feelings

Better Dungeon Reward Balance – I’m not asking for hard content to be stupidly more rewarding. But I would prefer it to be comparable with easier content. Not a single dungeon in the game even slightly compares to CoF path 1. Fractals that take a significant time to do, really don’t drop much in the way of loot. Currently I mess around with most dugeons because Loot really doesn’t matter much to me, however it’s really noticable that things like Path 3 CoF or Path 4 Arah are just not worth doing. balancing the loot would give everyone a bit more end game content that feels worthwhile.

Better Guild Controls – We really need to be able to tell when Guild members last logged on at least. Influence earned might also be nice to know.

Better Chat Controls – Currently it’s very hard for non-Guild groups to communicate. RPers for example. Thieves to discuss builds. Dungeon runners. Mainly because our chat functions are so limited compared to other games on the market like WAR.

Bordered Items – This is only minor but because there are no mod-ers in this game basic quality of life things are missing. One example is being able to see at a glance the rarity of things in your bag by putting a border on them in their rarity color. It’s a minor thing but little quality of life things add up.

Ability to move around you GUI – Both Aion and CoX had no modding, but they allowed you to decide which elements you showed, how big they were and where they appeared. You could be the best GUI designer in the world and not please everyone. SO give people options. When I play my Grenadier Engineer, it is almost imposible to target the ground and watch the Shamen as his HP bar almost entirely hides him.. I would love to be able to move it elsewhere.

I agree with Vayne on this.

If you have the perfect composition and a team that knows all the pulls, you can end up feeling like a blob of DPS. I’ve done enough CoF and CoE speed runs to know this. I think this is partly due to the way a some of the bosses in that dungeon work. Standing on top of the boss should never make you immune to damage, there is a reason Melee does more damage, and that’s because it’s meant to be more risky, this is just not true in all fights.

However running with a PuG group some of who don’t know the Dungeon like the back of the hand can be SO much more fun and challenging. I don’t run a full zerk in a PuG as it’s just too risky, and you need to be able to support the weaker players if you have them. This means running my Ele I have to keep an eye on all my team, try to heal people on low health, rez people that go down, buff people, throw up swirling winds to protect people, as well as DPSing. This is far more fun and definitely gives you somewhere to shine.

TLDR: If you run with a well oiled machine that knows every trick, it’s just playing by route and can be very easy to overcome any obstacle. Playing with a group where you have to deal with other players mistakes can be a lot more challenging and in turn much more fun and rewarding.

. Guild earrings are impossible to get unless you are in a zerg guild (hint: most people aren’t in one).

This is not entirely true. I run the weekly catchup run for the Guild, we generally have 6-10 people as most do the Guild events at the weekend. So far almost everyone gets 4 commendations from events in an hour. So it does feel like you can do them quite casually.

However, the real issue is building up the influence, to open them. (The Merits are less of the issue as you should be able to get them with a small group of people)

Saying this I think almost every server has at least one Guild that allows people to join for a couple of hours a week just for the events. And even if your server doesn’t you should be able to guest to do this.

even for non althoholics this is terrible it locks players in specific builds since its so hard to obtain ascended gear they actually need/want now take this issue and multiply it by number of alts and now you can see how massive this issue is. basically it takes 4 months to get 2 accesories only 1 month for amulet rings take 10 days if you do daily fractal or 2 months if you go for laurels .

These are slightly off. You can get them much quicker.

Rings: Well you can get 1 Pristines a day per character per 10 levels in fractals. I could at the moment if I could be bothered with my alts get 11 Pristine Relics in a day. So it would take 2 days. But even then most people that do lots of Fractals have so many spare rings. I have a set on every one of my 8 characters. 3 of my characters have 2 sets and I have about 20+ rings sitting in the bank (after selling duplicates). So no real issue getting rings for alts.

Necklace: Now you can get them for 20 Laurels and 250 BoH. So if you do some WvW (or even the Eternal Battleground Jumping Puzzle every so often) you can get 2 of them a month..

Backpack: Now these can be expensive. But I do now have them for all of my 8 characters, it’s just a case of grinding fractals or grinding money. There is no huge time gating on them.

Earrings: I’m now getting one every 2 weeks, so I can do a character every month. This is probably the slowest one at the moment. But you can always throw Laurels at it if you finish your Necklaces first.

So Anyway out of 8 toons.. All have Rings. All have Backpacks. 3 have Necklaces (and I have the Laurels/BoH for another 2). 2 have Earrings (but I have the tokens for another toon, once I decide which to give them too).

I wouldn’t say it’s that bad for alts.

Also note they have made it far easier since the introduction to get Exotic versions of these items. Before you could only get a rare backpack with 1 set of stats. Jewelery had to be crafted before, now you can spend Karma. SO even though they have made the BiS much harder to get, the next level down is much easier to get.

We just did a 38 no problem, with 2 Eles, 1 Thief, 1 Warrior and a Mesmer. I believe we had no deaths at all, and very few downs.

I guess if you get there with a team with no AoE, and Refection it might be impossible. Which really leaves you with a very small amount of teams.

TBH I think a piercing build trap Ranger would even be a better addition to the group than a Warrior on this fight, Warriors really don’t bring much to this fight unless the team has a couple of Guardians to allow them to survive long enough to do damage.

If that’s design then I still stick by my comment that it’s a pretty bad way to run a dungeon. You don’t kill players as soon as they enter a dungeon any more than a waiter spills a drink over a customer as soon as they enter a restaurant. It’s just rubbish.

You might think that. But if they are going to not allow people to rez or WP when people are combat. why should a dead person be able to log out and come back in at full health. It only happens if your team are in combat. The only other option would to be to put you into a holding queue until your team are out of combat.

People who can’t complete the Grawl fractal tend to prefer the Dredge fractal while those who can complete the Grawl fractal with ease utterly despise the Dredge fractal.

I must admit the Grawl Fractal is moving up my list of Fractals I would prefer to do.. I recon it’s now hovering around the middle at higher levels. I must say even the Water fractal can sometimes be more annoying than the Grawl.

The nice thing about the Grawl Fractal is that with a good team it’s fast.

With the Water fractal it takes about the same amount of time.. but the final fight is SO boring.

Ratty.5176

Dungeons are not Dynamic, and broken! When you can run through Fractals without clearing, there is a problem!

Er. Which fractal are you talking about.. There are only a few place you can skip mobs that don’t just respawn (yeah you can’t clear respawning mobs) like the first ramp in Colossus or the Maw at the start. A lot like the Krait, where you need to kill all to open cages. Or the Dredge, which you need to clear for certain doors to open. And even then most of the things the people skip they don’t skip all the time. EG the Wind Riders, a lot of people farm as their drops are reasonable.

It’s fairly obvious by the way they are designed that there are mobs which your meant to clear, mobs that you can avoid if you want to (look at the skills they give them normally pulls, and there are a few places like Ascalonian Battlefield where they just respawn) and mobs which are just there to put pressure on you as you solve a puzzle.

I think the sooner people realise that there are more uses for mobs than just something you have to kill the better. I find it really amusing when people refer to skipping in some dungeons as an exploit. Especially as the bits they are complaining about are often set up as rat runs with traps, pulls, poison traps, slows etc. If they had wanted us to kill everything it’s in their power. It’s obvious that they don’t, that they want to leave it to the players, and actually I like that.

A fix for the automatics deaths when you re-enter fractals would be good too. That’s just a bad way to run an MMO.

That is there for a reason, does not break armor and only happens if the team is in combat. It’s to stop zerg rezing. Take for example 4 of the team is dead on a boss. The last is kiting it around. Players can’t just WP and join the fight. But without this they could log back to character select. re-enter the dungeon and rejoin the fight.

SO not a bug.

However, the team should only be kicked from a Dungeon when the leader leaves if non of the remaining members could start the Dungeon. IE non have story mode.

I had a wipe at grawl when I was playing on my guardian because I was in a very low dps group and we couldn’t kill the vet shaman. We spammed CC but that’s worthless when more spawn one after the other and you couldn’t possibly CC 3 at once. Just having a single person switch to his dps warrior made it so that we could kill everything without losing a single captive.

How’s that for DPS check.

I agree it’s one of the very few true DPS checks in the game. I’ve had to swap a few times in this fight too. But it’s not really exclusively a Ranger issue, I’ve seen it with Mesmers, Guard and Eles too.

We had a ranger in the group, a “friend of a friend” and it was mostly a progression run. I really don’t like grouping with rangers. They are useless. They don’t bring support for this fractal but they don’t bring the dps we need either to burst veterans and grub quickly.

Now here is the thing, Rangers can be great in fractals, really good. I’ve seen a few that have been tough, put out decent DPS and supported the team well. The Issue is these have been maybe 10% of the Rangers I’ve played with. The vast majority have been really bad, I think a lot of them don’t understand some fundamentals of the game. But saying that the same could be said about a lot of Warriors. I think they are the two cases where it’s really variable what you get. And think it might be because both are SO easy to level in open world.

Ranger is such a terrible class why would anyone level that to high level fractal is beyond my level of comprehension.

Because they enjoy the class and enjoy a challenge.

It does. An inexperienced group of 5 rangers/conditionnecros won’t be able to pass some dps checks like AC Path 1 burrowevent or pre-patch simin.

To be honest, I’ve seen plenty of groups that had difficulties with AC path 1, team comp isn’t the big issue here, it’s not understanding the fight. The fact that certain groups can brute force it with DPS doesn’t help. But I would take that bet.

Only one that has merit is drawing on map and then I would only have it available to members of the Commander’s Squad, and maybe be some icons and arrows they can add to the world map.

You most had been born 10 years ago b/c my old days of mmorpger it took 6 moths to a year just to hit lvl cap and if you die you would lost exp and dlvl. Took 1 to 2 years just to complete 1 gear set and the game wasn’t explain 2 you, all ability and spell had no explanation you had to figure it out.

IF you ask me your generation of MMOplayer are being fed with a silver spoon.

So dont confuse me for asking for the game to have convenience over being lazy

Yeah and what are all these graphics and UI, when I was young all we had was text. You didn’t have any of these menu, you had to remember the command to hit something and type it… OH sometimes I get sentimental about Diskworld MUD. And that also had lives, if you died to many times you were dead full stop.

Tips for killing Kholer?

Another bonus for being with a mesmer is, if you stand behind their illusions, you won’t be pulled. You have to be directly behind LoS-wise but I have used this trick and can vouch that it works.

Does this work with other team mates, as I could see absolute hilarity ensue as every team mate spends the entire battle trying to get another team mate between them and Kholer.

At the moment almost all damage can be avoided in melee. It’s more dangerous, but you can fight in melee with a full DPS setup, and if you do with a Warrior nothing can touch your DPS.

But the thing you need to realise is almost all damage comes from heavy attacks from bosses that you need to avoid. If you don’t avoid them as thing stand no matter how much Toughness you stack a lot of them can kill you.

In other words, being in melee is dangerous, but if you can survive it it’s well worth doing.

Control also needs more effect in fights. I would love to see defiant numbers lowered, and certain effects moved off defiant, like dazes. but it would need some looking at as certain Controls can have very low cooldowns.

Yes Defiant needs to be changed. At the moment this thing makes control nearly useless. There is only one control effect that ignores this thing. It’s the petrified effect which only the thief can use. Yes the thief is the only one who can ignore defiant.

Instead of giving all bosses immunity to ALL control effect, give them controll immunities that are logical, like the bigger bosses can’t be knocked but dazed and feared and smaller ones can be knocked but have an immunity to fear. Or make defiant a timed buff instead of a stacked buff.
So you can still use control skills efficently wihtout making them overpowered

tbh I’m not even sure it’s the concept of defiant that is the issue.. It’s the number of stacks of defiant mobs get and how little effect controls actually have if you ever get them through.

Except a couple of the Bounty bosses, there is nothing to be gained by co-ordinating controls to wear it down, (look at Sootz for an example of a boss that you need to think about defiance. He needs to be knocked out of a Alchohol field so you can do damage to him, so you have to get him down to 0 defiance with CCs so your Warrior can knock him back).

It would also be quite cool if their were Defiance drain skills, eg Air – Sceptre on the ele, could drain ticks of Defiance as you channel it, which means that your Necro can get his effects off more often.

At the moment the only way to control a lot of bosses is just to lead them around like you have a carrot on a stick. And the few times where CC is useful it’s trivialized eg FotM Dredge boss, if you fail to get the fire shield placed on him and he can start to heal and you can stop him healing up with an interrupt, Great, but the only time you see this is if you fail to get the shield on him. I would love at Fractal 50+ he could heal even if the fire shield is on him, so you have to use CC along with leading him, pulling levers and doing damage.

Old and clunky game system

The recent STOG video chat mentioned ANet looking into a template system. For SPVP at first as there the stats are in the amulet and armor is for show, making it less work.

It would need a little bit of work with Runes,Sigils and Weapon sets..

but I’m sure it would be easier than PvE.

I dont see how hard can it be to add a macro gear swap/ability system since every single RPG-MMO out there has 1 but gw2

It’s very easy when it’s in there from the start.. less easy to add later.. And quite a few MMOs didn’t have it.. CoH only got it years in and then only 1 additional setup. WAR and Aion never had it.

A lot of the MMOs that do have it have it as Mods rather than in the core design. Which GW2 doesn’t allow. Hell, Skyrim (I know not a MMO) which really relied on weapon/equipment swaping didn’t have it built into the main game.

BUT I would say it’s one of my top things that needs looking at along with

  1. Guild UI – People need the ability to tell when their guild members last logged in, whether a Guildy is guesting on another world or has moved to it permanently etc)
  2. Alliances – So Guilds can help each other out.
  3. Chat – There needs to be more chat channels available especially across zones. A lot of games have the ability to create channels people can join. At the moment a lot of maps feel dead for map chat. At the very least I would like a Server chat room for each profession, RP channel in each zone.
  4. Right Click targeting – Let us turn it off, it’s a nightmare.
  5. In game LFG – I believe this is coming, but it will really help if set up correctly.

TBH absolutely people come and steam roll every Meta Event no matter what level the zone it. do you think many people even know how the Jormag fight works at all?

Which upcoming Region do you want first?

I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but the Asura gates have to be assembled in order to function. I know every bookah in Tyria thinks that they just magically appeared over night, but they are Asura tech and have been built by the finest engineers in the lands.

WHAT! but they do, I was wandering around Lions Arch and suddenly a whole lot of Karka appeared and started eating everything, then when I looked back there was a GATE just sitting there on the quay. Then last month again, I go most days to do some Fractals using that gate that appeared when the Karka event, then suddenly one day when I wander to the gate there is another one next to it to Sunstone cove, just appeared over night.

It’s funny that the changes to AC made it easier for teams who are coordinated and bring high-DPS setups and harder for PUGs who have neither of those. Perhaps they’re trying to send a message…

TBH. It made it easier for coordinated team, with or without DPS setups. However High-DPS teams can do it far faster. I think it’s a step in the right direction.

I feel what is still missing is pressure in fights. Full DPS teams work fine because they can avoid almost all the damage via a few well placed dodges on a lot of bosses. The bosses need more fast low damage attacks which act like player auto-attacks, this would mean the team would be rewarded for Healing/Toughness/Vitality as well as DPS. It shouldn’t be a case that players are either up or dead with nothing much in between. If you look at some of the better fights in the game they have this, in the Grawl Shamen fight, you have a lot of fast lava elemental ranged attacks to heal or mitigate as well as the big attacks from the boss.

Control also needs more effect in fights. I would love to see defiant numbers lowered, and certain effects moved off defiant, like dazes. but it would need some looking at as certain Controls can have very low cooldowns.

It would help if they just told us the total instead of tiers.

Well they do, up in the top/right hand corner of the screen.

Their are multiple tiers of monthly achievements and you get a XP boost each one you hit..

For example Puzzle Jumper has 4 tiers

  • Tier I – 3 Jumping Puzzles Completed
  • Tier II – another 3 Jumping Puzzles Completed
  • Tier III – yet another 3 Jumping Puzzles Completed
  • Tier IV – guess what, another 3 Jumping Puzzles Completed

So a total of 12 puzzles.. the monthly in the top right corner, just shows you the total of all tiers. The Achievement panel shows you how far through completing your current tier you are.

It is possible even 48+.
you need to aggro one side all the time.
4 people stay in the tunnel, aggro and fight one side while the other runs with the hammer, standart procedure. Now, with aggroing one side all time, this side will not regenerate.
finish the seal and the whole party moves to the other side to “kill” this, probably full reg, seal.

Yeah, I was pretty sure it would be. I always do this fractal as if it’s failed, IE. I always agro mobs as soon as they spawn on one side and pull them into the corridor. At 48 we normally end up with both seals going down practically simultaneously, as neither are healing.

It’s always amusing to see what is not common knowledge in fractal. Top ones include

  1. Throwing the Crystals is not the only thing that hurts the Maw. In fact killing Tentacles does far more damage. So don’t worry about it targeting pets.
  2. The Seals don’t magically repair themselves, the mobs repair them.
  3. If you enter the Dredge Cage carefully and only fight on one side, without stepping near the panel, the Dredge don’t respawn. So you can preclear one side.
  4. You get burned on the Grawl Shamen if you stand still (really people don’t know it, I watched a Ranger at level 38 fall over tonnes of times to fire, and he had done enough fractals to get to level 32 never knowing this.)

It’s almost impossible to break seals fast enough to counter a couple of Vets on one side repairing. However mobs do not repair the seal if they are attacking you. Make sure that one side is always aggro’d on the party and it’s quite easy to do even at high levels as they won’t repair that side.

BTW if you look they have a very distinctive animation when they are repairing the seal, they reach out with their arm towards the seal as if they were communing with a place of power. If you see that you need to make sure that mob is pulled.

Also it’s most definitely not about DPS. A couple of team-mates with good AoE DPS in the corridor helps, but you need a couple of survivable people to run onto the platform to pull mobs and hit seals.
