Why not just put them into wallet? I hold my keys in my wallet

Yup. These keys should always have been currency. Might also be time to start delineating currency sources:
General (Gold, Karma)
Dungeon tokens
Map (Geodes, Airship parts, etc)
Keys (Zephyrite, etc)

“From this you can expect changes to weapon skills to make each-weapon more self sufficient.”

I expect that to some capacity or another. Probably shorter cooldowns or better weapon-specific traits to make weapons more viable. If single weapons have reasonable cooldowns and effectiveness, there will be less incentive to take Fast Hands for skill-spam.

So I doubt Fast Hands will go away, since the Discipline line’s minors and Brawler’s Recovery are focused on fast weapon swap. Not to say it 100% won’t happen, but the odds of them retooling Discipline that much to remove Fast Hands entirely doesn’t seem to benefit.

It’s anything in your inventory that’s not soulbound. I bought 5 and put my copper fed, permanent bank access and 3 permanent harvesting tools in them. They are now shared across all my chars. Even my chars harvesting flax way out in the middle of nowhere have all of these items now.

o_O 3500 gems. Poof.
I want your money. ;_;

Though, I might get one or two to put the salvage kit in there. It’d help a lot with keeping my inventory clear of kits, and that’s 2+ bag spaces per character. I just wish it wasn’t 700 gems each.

Why I think HoT failed

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Maybe WvW players are playing something else in the expansion? For how long has there been no meaningful changes made in WvW? It’s not unreasonable to think that WvW could of shifted their attention to something else with the expansion which is newer and the new WvW map wasn’t enough to hold their interest.

WvW is sagging for the same reason it generally sagged in DAoC.

Tactics don’t win a three-way server bout, population and 24-hour coverage do. Until WvW forces zergs to split up to claim and retain their territory, and until smaller populations can do specific things to win over larger ones, WvW won’t be close to even or fun.

War Update - Easiest Mode Confirmed?

@Rauderi
Regarding sigils, I used to think the same. But FH actually does help with sigils in that you can get the same effect with on-swap sigils on one weapon set that builds without FH would need the sigils on both sets to achieve.

For example, an FH warrior could put a Battle Sigil and an Energy sigil on one set, getting the benefit every 10s (every 2nd weapon swap). But a non-FH build would need to put those two sigils on both weapon sets to get the might and endurance every 10s. For the FH warrior, that means you have two additional sigil slots to work with (different sigils, obviously) that you wouldn’t otherwise have.

It’s actually not an insignificant benefit, but it’s not anywhere near something I’d call indispensable, and certainly not something worth investing a traitline for by itself.

I see! That’s rather wily. Thanks for the useful tip!

Still don’t understand how gliding can mess with jumping puzzles. Almost all jumping puzzles are horizontal or vertical where you need to jump up all the time. So how gliding (slow descending) can be worse than leap skills or a portal?

And nevermind the number of precision jumps that gliding would totally bork with. If you’re that kind of pro that can divebomb in and land on a dime, more power to you, but me? I’m slipping right past that “conspicuous” ledge and falling to my death. :P

War Update - Easiest Mode Confirmed?

You’re right, cds are only one part. But they also mentioned something about changing skill functionality. If they make it so more things are located on single weapons (e.g. setup and burst, damage and defense, etc), then it reduces the need for FH even more.

True, there’s still the advantage to on-swap sigils, and FH would undoubtedly remain a very good trait in its own right. But by addressing these other issues they increase the likelihood of a viable, or even optimal, build that doesn’t use Disc. Str-Arms-Bers, maybe, or Arms-Def-Bers etc.

Swap sigils still have a 9 second cooldown, so Fast Hands doesn’t help with that.

Choppy, your earlier assessment seems about right on point.

As something I’ve said before, with more manageable cooldowns, Warrior can afford to have less powerful but more frequent skill uses. And, it edges away from “needing” Fast Hands. I personally find it convenient, but Warrior’s Sprint and Burst CD reduction are also in Discipline, so I use it consistently anyway. (Shame the rest of the trait line is still kind of lackluster. Especially Merciless Hammer…)

Hopefully the sustain/survivability they mention isn’t just a lame healing tweak. While anything helps, we need better overall options and better trait synergy.

Warrior makes for a good exploratory class, so you can get used to the game. It’s simple to play, has ranged and melee options (though it prefers melee), and is reasonably effective in solo or group play, depending on your build.

Note Arddyn’s comment, of course. They’re in a bit of a rough spot in PvP, but overall, it’s still a solid enough class that will teach you until you’re ready to branch out.

Every meta event in Magus Falls, so it’s utterly inconvenient for everyone but the locusts who can spend 2-3 hours in a single map.
New, unique currencies to thwart their incessant gold/karma farming, so they have something else to grind and grind.

New blood on the writing staff. Perhaps an entirely new team.

Less vertical map design.

A rework of the Ranger core mechanic that involves the option to trade the pet for a DPS buff of some sort. This could be implemented via a new elite spec.

Fewer unethical business decisions (such as removing a core game feature and adding it back, in modified form, gated behind the expansion purchase)

VASTLY MORE NEW WEAPON SKINS.

Add playable Tengu/Skritt/Kodan and that sounds about right. Gah, so many of their design decisions drive me mad.

Oh, and a big balance patch before holding stupid PvP tourneys that drag on for months.

It won’t. There is a similar achievement in Verdant Brink and you can’t glide while using the goggles. And since most JP’s go up it’ll probably be fine.

Confirmed. I tried everything I could to break the goggles mode and couldn’t. The splat at the end would have been funny if not for me being really torqued about the setback.

[Suggestion] Warrior Overhaul

in Warrior

Posted by: Rauderi.8706

Rauderi.8706

Thanks for your work so far on this! Comments below.

Strength
Peak Performance – Unblockable Physicals? Not a bad idea, though I worry it might be OP for Stomp.
Adrenal Transfer – If I went Defense, Strength, Healing Signet.. That’s a huge amount of regen. And Signet of Rage ends up becoming a part of the Warrior’s regeneration engine. And I’m not sure regen’s appropriate for the primary offense trait line.
It does encourage spending adrenaline, since I would assume if you’re not actually gaining adrenaline, it wouldn’t activate healing. Something to think about.
Body Blow – Probably for the best to merge the two interrupt traits.
Axe Mastery – I see some potential conflict with the speed boost and Berserker/Dual Wielding, but otherwise, 15% dps boost is okay by me.
Chop Block – A bit rough, since it’s a long cooldown reliant on using endurance. Seems like it’d be difficult to plan effectively.

Arms
Blood Clot – Mingles with Cull the Weak. Probably shouldn’t have two different traits that apply Weakness.
Not So Fast – Rings of being mostly a PvP trait to me.
Blinding Rage – Yay for breaking up blind-spam!
Burst Precision – I can see ignoring Protection, but this trait would also ignore a fair amount of counter-play in Aegis and Retaliation.
Signet Mastery – Need some details on this one. 25% Threshold? Internal cooldown? I do like the group support aspect though.

Defense
Thick Skin – A needed improvement.
Adrenal Health – Ah, I see why Adrenal Transfer is the way it is. Should probably nudge this to Strength and keep the passive regen to Defense’s minor. (Granted, the active version would be a buff to Defense.)
Heavy Armor – Self-applied Protection, yes please.
Cull the Weak – I’ve always come real close to picking this one, but the damage and threshold kept me from it in favor of greater mobility with Dogged March. The adjusted bonus is much more competitive.
Reinforcing Mace – Great synergy with the Heavy Armor minor, and huge Protection uptime. With Mace being the “defense” weapon for warrior, this has a strong identity.

Tactics
Quick Breathing – I want to feel awesome again, yes.
Powerful Synergy – Since Leap finishers suck, applying the double to any sounds great. (Warhorn 5 in a water field = splash heals!)

Discipline
Versatile Strike – Encouraging for those who are double-melee, but it doesn’t do anything for ranged folk. Might want to keep the 5 adrenaline bonus.
Versatile Power – I’m presuming this runs on the Baseline Fast Hands paradigm.
Brawler’s Recovery – …which suddenly becomes sexy with BR as a minor. o_O
Inspiring Battle Standard – lol. LOL. LAWL. Yes. Such a PvP skill (useless in PvE), but hilarious.
Merciless Hammer – While I would love nearly 100% uptime on +100% damage… Or did you mean Disabled foes? Hammer 2 stacks on a solid time of Weakness, which would be great synergy with the trait, though it’d step on Cull the Weak. If you meant Disabled foes, scratch it. Please. Hammer is too ruddy slow to ever make use of it, no matter the damage bonus. (Funny as hell on Defiant bar breaks, though.)
As I was pointing out in the other revamp thread(s), hammer could get some huge benefits from Stability, even if it’s just 1 stack for 1 second, enough to cover skill activation. Not even on the autoattack, just the 2-5 skills. If Juggernaut gets constant Stab-spam (and Might) for one trait, why not Warrior?
Mind Over Matter – Also sexy. Warrior needs Resistance. I’d say 3 + conditions, 3 seconds Resistance, 15 sec cooldown. Very few instances where you’ll get slapped with 5 condis, and the cooldown makes it somewhat reliable. So chop it all in half, and it looks great.

-

On My Mark – Not sure I’m keen on a huge cooldown hike, but Vuln+Taunt makes for a great opener or catch.

Huh, something awesome I noted in your design that makes me ponder sending forward as a separate suggestion to the devs.

Stances are particularly and uniquely useful, but they have terrible uptime and come with an opportunity cost. In your design doc, you replace the basic things some traits provided (might, fury) with Stance activations.
That’s friggin’ sexy.
It gives huge synergy to Last Stand (reducing trait cooldowns) and allows a Warrior to double up by selecting the Stance utility on the bar.

Spreading out Stance activations for specific actions could make those fairly competitive.

We need balance patch ._.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rauderi.8706

Rauderi.8706

I’m fine with more frequent but less precise balance patches, myself. Here’s why:

#1: There’s a drastic drop off in returns after a short while. It’s something that a lot of artists will tell you. I’m going to paraphrase Trey Parker and Matt Stone on why it is they make each episode of South Park in a week: “You can spend several months on an episode, getting the timing exactly perfect for that one or two jokes, but if you keeping working at getting it perfect, you’ll never get it done. You’re spending a lot of time to make that episode maybe 10% better. It is better to get that episode out there and not worry about it being perfect”. Balance patches are similar: you can see the problems that need fixing within a month or two. Spending 6 months between balance passes only makes it 10% better.

#2: Feedback is important. The thing with ideas is that they have inertia, and just because the devs have been sitting on a thought for 6 months doesn’t make it smarter. I’d rather the devs throw out their 90% quickly, so they can see what happens and get feedback on how things have changed. Then, when they do the next balance patch, they can take that into consideration and make adjustments again. A faster balance patch may be a bit worse, but it is worse for substantially less time.

#3: Long inaction clearly isn’t working. They say the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, but expect different results.

#4: Changing up the game regularly will encourage players to come back regularly. A balance pass every 2-3 months means that when something is bad, a player can just take a break for a bit. A balance patch every 6 months creates a feeling of hopelessness, knowing that you’ll have to live with a problem for an extended period of time. Faster updates means higher retention.

I’d rather Anet gets it wrong fast and improves themselves, rather than taking forever to get it wrong anyway and taking forever to improve themselves.

Agreed on every point. Especially #1.

Faster iteration times means more iterations. Each iteration steps away from the extreme and brings it closer to the “real” or “ideal” point, so long as the updates aren’t drastic.

You have pro teams rage-quitting live during tournaments (mid-game no less) because of the lack of balance.

zomg, I want to be there with vials to catch the tears!

You’re right, though. Given the state of some classes, I’d be ticked if I had to wait several more months to get some necessary fixes. Monthly is unreasonable for design/production, but semi-annually is far too long. Quarterly is likely the best we can get for quality and timely changes.

Certain other games (you probably know or can guess which) do balance updates every two weeks. I really don’t think that an update every 30-60 days (even a small one to correct the most broken aspects) is too much to ask, especially if they want this taken seriously as an e-sport. The current state of PvP is ludicrously bad, and their failure to plan for a follow-up balance patch to correct the imbalances in elite specializations was a huge oversight. As has been said before, new content like that isn’t a balance update, it’s a reason to plan for a balance update.

I’d be quite fine with bimonthly balances. It smacks a bit of the dreaded “agile computing,” but persistent tweaking means more iterations to get each skill and weapon to where it needs to be.

Downfall of Gw2

Some buffing is needed. Some profession are weak in certain content and certain build are weak for certain professions. That’s where elite spec should have buffed their profession. Not buff everything into a power creep.

That’s what I would have hoped Elite specs to do. Fill in some gaps that may not have been appropriate or designed for in the core class. Berserker gives Burning/condi play that Warrior was weak in, and added a burst-ier damage mechanic with Primal Bursts. Thing is, it also attempted to do stuff that Warrior’s core needed: namely Taunt and Stability.
But the core class is still suffering with shoddy traits and ages-old weapon skills that haven’t been updated, and an utter lack of survivability for a class that should be a natural damage sponge. Sure, you can trait for it, sort of, but then that’s all you’re doing.
Elite specs, and Revenant, if focused on good game design, were supposed to be options and different play styles, but many of them feel too powerful, so now other classes/specs need to be brought up, or the others toned down. Which, weirdly enough, depends on how much the devs want Toughness to matter.

Home instance hired labour

For the OP, did you say “hire”??? Don’t we have Charr’s for slave labor? I’ll show them the bidnes side of their own whips! jk Though how about golems to work our home instance? I want my personal R2-D2 rolling around my home instance. It would be adorable!

Aw, dangit. See, now there’s actual themes to fit the idea. Each race gets their own appropriate hire:

Charr: Gladium
Asura: Lab Assistant
Human: Work Release Prisoner
Sylvari: Tender
Norn: …Bored Drunk Guy?

Suggestion: Better Dye organisation.

I wouldn’t mind having that option. With all my 3-year characters slowly coming around, I’d like to know which dyes are still available and what sets they’re in.
Not for unlove of Dulfy, but I’d really like to not have to go back to her site every time I get one of those blessed dye packs.

Tyrians Can't Jump!

You can actually jump onto ledges taller then your character (somehow!) if you back up and move forward after jumping (unless there is a invisible wall)

(i do it all the time without speed boost)

Ah, GW2 and its video-game-platformer ignorance of ballistic physics. :p
I wouldn’t normally mind it, except that it’s occasionally required for jumping puzzles. Tsk, tsk, bad design by the devs there.

Thanks for the highlight. Newer players might not yet be aware of it.

To be fair, Tyrians only learned to jump sometime within the last 250 years.

Y’killin’ me. I’d rofl, but I’m at work.

7-9foot tall demon mancats made of muscle and sinew and intense physical training.

…can’t clear a 4-foot wall that even I could climb over.

I don’t feel overly heroic in GW2 at times like that. >.>

Addendum: They’re also bad at climbing hills! MMOs are wretched about this, and perfectly equivalent gradients can have two completely separate collision reactions based on whether or not the developers “want” players to climb it, with no other visual indication.

Home instance hired labour

Well, we do get those daily log-in rewards.

For free, while hired labours would have to be unlocked at a price. Knowing Anet and their past practices, players would probably spend more money on the hired labour than they would on getting that money back (this is already the case for infinite gathering tools and even for instance nodes), so my counter-argument to your initial point still stands: It would be mostly a convenience feature, a nice QoL thing to have, not an economy-breaking one.

I understand, Diogo, and thanks for the extra info. BTW, I just purchased the instance nodes — couldn’t resist after seeing someone’s fully-spiffed-out personal instance. And I knew I was going to be going there daily after getting the Wintersday Gift Tree, which I had to have — it’s just lovely!

I know it’ll take me a long while to get the money back from my investment, but it does make going out there extra fun now.

There are more benefits than just gold/hour~

Like finishing that gathering daily in under 5 minutes, instead of roaming zones. Or sneaking into the guild hall and using the Scribe table to duck out of waypoint fees when swapping tools, then having those tools save tons of money and earning me lots of loot. (Even if sprockets have gone down roughly 40% since a few months ago :P)

Ley Line gliding underwhelming

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Rauderi.8706

Yeah, they need to add more ley line gliding areas to make it worth it. Other than Dragons Stand I haven’t found any real use for it.

They should add gliding to core tyria, and vertical ley lines that spring up on the wp’s. Then you can use the wp’s to get into the air on the ley lines and glide across the maps. That would be cool.

I’d appreciate it if leyline gliding opened up areas that were normally blocked off by metas. Verdant Brink canopy being a good example. Instead of needing a chopper, zip on up with leyline. Instead of finding “the right chopper”, take a leyline path from one boss area to another. (Pack a lunch, it’d be a long flight. o_O)

I have 3k armor . Is this a balanced game in yor opinion?^

Better question.

Would you say not dying if you have 3k armor is balance?

EDIT : sure you got hit for 10k, but we dont know anything about buffs, debuffs, or any other external factors.

It might be less the dying part than the 10,000 crit from an overpowered skill. :P

Coalescence of Ruin has been griped about in PvP for a while. The damage is far too high on a ranged, low-effort skill with a spammable cooldown. All of Rev’s hammer non-basic skills feel too overpowered, actually. Or, if they represent a new standard in play/counterplay, other classes need their weapons upgraded to match.

Question: Do you like TP bundling?

I have a feeling that the monetization crew are throwing darts and seeing what gets push back as well as what sells and what doesn’t. So plenty of chances for missteps.

I definitively can say with no discernable proof whatsoever that this is exactly it.

So.. is this qq about easier achievement acquisition? That also happens to be false.

Finished the meta-achievement last night, after grinding out 30 games of Snowball Mayhem. It got to the point where one of my teammates was so bleeegh of the grind that he started running gifts to the other team to end the matches faster.
