When designing Control as a role, you have to keep in mind that death is always the best form of control.

Controller, Dominator, and Blaster archetypes in City of Heroes all take this into account. Guild Wars 2 specializations, not so much.

Having them continue to survive without specific targets turns the clones from utility/dps to pets… and that would be brokenly over powered – especially once you start turning into WvW zergs.

Reread the OP. He doesn’t want them to persist. He wants them to do something like a less potent Mind Wrack against the nearest target.

Since we can’t consume our clones for a buff, like a Rogue might Slice n’ Dice if its more effective than Sinister Strike at that point in time, there’s usually an opportunity cost associated with not shattering the moment you get to 3. Solutions like the OP’s might help.

A lot of it being sub-par.

PvE – Renown hearts are the same old ! quests. You do a thing over and over, and cannot lose progress on them. Events are a chore to find. The “dynamic world” is anything but,; enemies are less able to run wild and take over a zone than they are in Defense of the Ancients, a user-made map for a decade old RTS.

sPvP – Still no ladder. No way to set up your own channel with its own map rotation. Laurels are the only PvE item you can get out of it.

WvWvW – Strip down to avoid repair bill, follow zerg, equip AoE ranged weapon to tag enemies. There’s no logistical roles to specialize in. Either you’re personally able to flip camps, or you’re only useful to carry supply, and as a decoy.

I envy the OP for requiring 1500 hours to get bored.

That’d be a nice way to burn some SP on my 80, which I never really use with the Mystic Forge and such.

They were fun to chase around. I had trouble distracting my leveling partner from them even when there was an event happening nearby.

I understand why they aren’t permanent, as they had a chance to give out Super Skins. But a treasure hunting minigame using the same code used to distribute chests around the world map might be cool.

I liked the chests. I didn’t even care about the reward so much, it was just fun to have something on the map to chase while leveling other than hearts or events.

This is my #1 issue playing Mesmers in PvE. +1

It’d be nice if they unlinked Death Nova from Bone Minion, and had them work in the same fashion instead, as well.

Assassin and Ritualist are my favorite for soloing. Assassins are fun for being able to run in and spike mob healers, Rituatlists as primary profession isn’t really good at all but I find it pretty relaxing to set up the lines of battles before the pull.

I would have said Istanbul had the White Mantle succeeded in taking over Lion’s Arch.

Charr aligning themselves with the other civilized races is a pretty important part of the story, going from Prophecies → Eye of the North → GW2.

Ogres and ettins have only recently begun to open relations with other races, due to centaur encroachment.

Sylvari are closer to the original Gaelic idea of “elf” than modern, Tolkien-derivative “elves”.

It’s very silly to me that I do it from the character selection screen.

Here’s how I envisioned guesting working before it was implemented:

1) Friend from another server invites you to their party

2) You both go to the same zone

3) You right click on them and the option “Join on <server name>” appears, same as the option for joining people in Overflow.

Since there’s a finite limit on the amount of servers you can guest on, I would expand this to have a popup that warns you that you can only mark two servers as guesting servers per day, and whether you’ve already used up your first one.

They should have not had them at all, and instead have had event chains be connected throughout the entire map, so that any event in any corner of the map would have some degree of relation to any other event on the map.

Well remember the renown system with the hearts does not stay forever. As you get higher in level they go away till there are none.

This was placed in here for those that are use to the old quest system. If you look about and talk to the NPCs you will notice that there are far more quest of that nature then the renown ones.

In fact I see more people not even attempting to find these quest, while I go out of my way in an attempt to do so. I feel one day one of these none labeled quests will get my something sweet to brag about.

I’ve done some out of the way Renown Hearts (forgot the name, thank you) because GW2Spidy revealed a cool item I could make with the crafting recipe sold after you complete it. Especially nice if you want to cheaply get a crafting monthly out of the way with masterworks crafted from tier 1 items.

I sell unidentified dyes. I refuse to gamble.

I’m happy to be challenged more, if Anet gets rid of repair costs.

Regeneration needs to be more powerful, period.

When you think “regeneration”, you think Wolverine, not the piddly racial for WoW Trolls. Currently it feels much more like the latter.

I kinda like having to go out & level though, it keeps me busy. I’m sure there was a greater purpose as to why Anet did this.

Until they remove XP boosters from the gem shop, they’re not getting the benefit of my doubt.

Crafting XP is a suspicious feature too. Why does this exist if Arenanet truly wanted me to “enjoy the world”, possibly against my will? But it certainly helps make me poorer, and thus doing the gem to gold swap.

While I do agree that it would be nice (and wise) for ANet to add more options for disabled users to play with less difficulty, I don’t think changing the circles for everyone is the answer- the circles that appear are designed to be difficult, the game’s hard sometimes! Sometimes you don’t see a trap and you walk in and then see the circle and realize “oh shoot!” but it’s too late. That’s the game! Making it easier to spot these circles (by doing a double line or changing it to bright yellow) would make the traps almost pointless. As for an easier to see cast radius, this is an option that many people (myself included) elect to turn off entirely in exchange for a much faster and simpler auto cast where the pointer is on the screen. IMHO seeing those circles is unnecessary for ANet to put time into fixing.

Adding a feature for color blind users to utilize I fully +1 but PLEASE don’t change the game for everyone.

That’s not challenge, that’s a purposeful UI flaw.

“Meta” is a term heavily used in Guild Wars 1, relating to http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Metagame

We don’t need a bigger level cap. There are already too many gaps in the personal story that require you to grind in between segments. We need another personal story. In GW1 you could go the Eye of the North and play through the story with the Don’t Stop Believing buff, if you were too impatient to level to 20 in your native land via questing.

A great spec from GW1 that can’t really be done here. These are my ideas on how to resurrect them:

1. Remove the cooldown from Bone Minions. They now use Life Force to create. You are trading emergency survivability for control over the lines of battle.

2. Minions use a pet cap like Mesmers do, but larger, as you have a pretty big zombie crew going in GW1.

3. Unlink Death Nova from Bone Minion, and put it on F2 instead. When pressed, it puts a boon on your lowest health Bone Minion that causes it to do a powerful AoE damage field when killed. The cooldown would be slightly longer than the boon itself. If new traits allowed the cooldown to be reduced below the boon’s duration, it would put it on the Bone Minion with the lowest health who does not already have it.

I’d like to see enemy AoE’s highlighted in the method shown in recent promotional material detailing the combat in Wildstar.

Have had the exact opposite impression. I gamble because you may get more than 1 ecto. You also get a sigil out of it for 2-4 s more + other mats (which may equal another silver or two).

I’d say if it’s 30s+ for the rare, sell it. If it’s less than that, salvage. My own personal system, and not calculated mathematically.

I hadn’t thought of it like that before. That sounds like a better system if the odds are good of getting multiple ectos from a master kit. Thank you.

Addons in WoW can’t “play the game for you” The API is heavily regulated so that most interactions require a hardware event to occur. The only time it did anything of the sort was when Healbot could choose the correct spell so all you had to do was left click on a player’s name, and that was nearly a decade ago.

There’s a lot of great stuff addons allow for. Imagine how much smoother crafting would be if you queue the items you want to craft, and then uses GW2Spidy to buy everything you need off the TP?

Or, take the custom soundtrack feature. You have almost no means available to you to refine how it actually works. Battle songs cut off abruptly Ambient music isn’t zone specific. Addon authors could fix things like that that aren’t worth developer time.

As for “playing the UI”, we already have to do that if we’re not a GS warrior. Elementalists have four attunements with cooldowns to remember. Mesmers have three pets with health bars that only show up on their nameplates, and no indication of whether their next clone might destroy a phantasm. This isn’t Gears of War, folks, MMORPGs need detailed feedback.

I actually only started playing GW1 for the HoM rewards, and only they put up the calculator that described exactly what you’d get with your level of progress. So I was used to games with prettier graphics, or that made you move around a lot more and react faster. I still loved it.

With the ability to take a 7 hero party on your adventures, it felt to me like a JRPG more than a true MMORPG. Which was what I wanted.

I take hardcore to mean how much metagaming you do.

For, say, Starcraft, this might mean spending every moment you’re not actually playing the game, watching replays, watching twitch.tv streams, and hashing out theory with colleagues.

With MMORPGs, I interpret is as things like raid involvement. Since there are no raids in GW2, I consider the “hardcore” to be someone who gets involved in guild memberships, schedules events and then doesn’t flake on them, etc. Or anyone who tries to do any amount of cat herding in WvWvW, you have to be pretty hardcore for that.

I tend not to like “casual” as a term. When someone says it, they tend to be implying “I have more of a life than you” rather than trying to communicate any useful information or interesting opinions.

Badges of Honor need to be a currency like laurels instead of loot, yes. That would be the first fix I’d go for.

I just pop Feedback on the snakes and they all kill themselves with their annoying green balls.

60 seconds of a song once triggered would be nice, you generally have to pull a lot of enemies to hear much battle music outside of personal story.

Don’t end songs abruptly either, fade them out gradually, and fade them back in if you re-enter combat.

I would suggest filing a ticket with Support. That way, you can describe the situation in detail. If the guilty party has bragged about the griefing via whisper, guild chat, whatever, Arenanet would have access to the chatlogs.

I can’t keep them in my inventory, because I’m constantly hitting "deposit all collectibles.

Almost everything in this game has an incredibly short leash.

Sometimes it’s even hard to keep something you’re trying to kite in combat, much less train them upon some poor hapless soul.

The Brewfest outside of Orgrimmar.

If a guardian anchor can tag mobs, anyone can.

The content is still balanced for people who have to spend a half hour getting a group together, as well. They’re understandably going to be willing to put up with every wacky gimmick thrown at them.

Springing an automatic LFG on GW2’s style of 5 man content would be The Oculus all over again.

Hopefully, both aspects get fixed this year.

Is it kosher to say something like “looking for leveling party” in WvWvW chat? I’ve never tried it, because I don’t know if people would yell at me for being a parasite, or whether that’s actually the norm.

I just don’t want to get killed by blue diamonds who run into pointless battles because they want to “win” WvWvW.

On Tarnished Coast, every time I try to ride the WvWvW zerg train, my repair bill levels up faster than my character.

It’s the speed of soloing events that annoys me more than the difficulty. There are a number of ways that ingenuity can make a daunting task more feasible. But my DPS is pretty well throttled, as is the design of this game. And let’s face it, if I’m ikittenone to level, I want to do it as effectively as possible. I already “enjoyed the journey” on my first level 80, now I just want more characters to play.

Make cosmetic purchases accountwide and unlimited use, like they were in City of Heroes, and how the Hall of Monuments rewards work.
