How exactly are you going to “grind” it, if it’s only doable once per week?
Artificially stretched grind is still grind. You cannot get everything you need for collection in one clear.

Ohoni wants a completely random group of non-min maxed players who skipped proper Exotic, AND Ascended gear tiers, with no strictly defined roles and builds, to be able to finish the Raid. Which means he wants Legendary Armor to be easier to acquire than Ascended Armor which in turn means he wants the Legendary Armor for free, no effort required.
I guess YOU are the one who needs to read what Ohoni is saying and actually provide something constructive for once.
How exactly grinding three raids for weeks is easier than crafting ascended armor ~50g per piece?
25 charracters
We had the other type of useless, worthless legendary. We know need something that is “more” Legendary. Your “easy mode” Legendary needs to have LOADS of Grind and be super expensive to compensate for the lack of “difficulty”. It only makes sense.
So you are trying to tell that one kind of grind is somehow better and more “worthy” than other kind of grind? Because GW2 raids arent that hard, you know, they are not even close to old WoW 25 HM encounters. It’s stupidly big gap in learning curve and absolute lack of transition making them feel hard. Plus pretty bad interface, even vanilla wow had better one.
25 charracters
No.
Prestige items should be tied to in-game achievements and challenging combat gameplay, not about who farms best or plays the auction house baron.
By this point I’d even prefer they release legendaries tied to gold medals in adventures or upon successful completion of hard jumping puzzles.
But have these legendaries means something that is not FARM GOLD. kitten that.
Weapons and armors should be earned by doing meaningful content WELL in the game.
The economy should be restricted to convenience items like food, pots, minis, and other frivolous crap not tied to character progression.
Get this virtual market filth out of my gaming.
Are you sure that you are picked a right game then? GW2 was made as game without carrot on stick, and that why it became so popular and lasted so long. And yet we constantly getting people who want to take some valuable stuff from everyone else and call it a “meaningful reward”. Seriously people, why you left WoW and came here, asking for same game reward model?
25 charracters
Raiding is not required to get the highest stat gear.
It’s not about stats, its about locking best items behind raids.
25 charracters
I’m not sure I completely understand your response. I’m positing that if you commit the time, like 5 hours a week for 40 weeks, you’ll learn enough to beat the raid. Yes, you’ll need to get better than you were at week 0, but that’s what the 40 weeks of practice is for.
Yes, you’ll need to get better. Is that too much to ask for a legendary item?
Forcing GW2 to follow WoW paradigm is definitely too much to ask. I had my share of high-end WoW raiding for years, and I bought GW2 because Anet promised to make it different.
25 charracters
He’s saying you shouldn’t be able to get the same skins from separate modes, which is a reasonable position, but I don’t think it’s what you were saying.
Yes, I was talking about legendary armor at all, not raid-specific one.
25 charracters
Ad Infinitum, The Ascension …. and various other unique rewards beg to differ.
This is two legendary backpacks from two different game modes. What exactly you trying to say?
25 charracters
I like your ideas Thaddeus, about having to beat normal raid once to unlock specific raid rewards as mini or skins. I still think that the legendary armor should stay behind normal raid (it’s legendary after all…).
And your propositions about easy raid mechanisms seem realistic, but since you’re talking about keeping wipe mechanisms, some people won’t agree with you because, you know, it’s too stressfull to wipe…
Legendary armor cannot be locked exclusively behind raid at all, because it contradicts to whole GW2 design since very beginning. There must be another source of it, or it must be tradable as very bare minimum. Otherwise this game should be named WoW.

Or else he’s a great player, who has gotten caught in the downward spiral of mmr hell, where loss begets loss, hence his win/loss ratio has tanked.
From this thread it looks like he is a guy who belongs to emerald, but instead bought boost to diamond and then second boost to legend. So much for useless AP chase.

Depend. If the raid legendary armor is the only legendary armor available in the game then I agree. If by the time they launch the 3rd wing, they add other legendary armor with different skin in other game mode like PvP, Open World or WvW, then I disagree because then only this particular legendary armor skin is locked behind raids, not the legendary armor as a gear.
Again, it’s EIGHTEEN legendaries. GW2 had eighteen non-underwater legendaries for three years, and now same amount is going to be raid-exclusive? Is there words “World of Warcraft” appeared somewhere in game title?
25 charracters
I would be ok with this. But I don’t think our viewpoint is in vogue at the moment. People want prestige, and acquiring legendary armor through raids is a prestige event. I understand and am ok with this line of reasoning. Given that there’s no stat increase over ascended.
Also, the gorseval infusion is tradable, and people seem ok with it.
Skins and titles are prestige event, not gear. Making 18 different legendary pieces locked behind raids is beyond stupid and contradicts whole GW2 ideology.
25 charracters
Who cares about legendary armor? Just make is tradable like other legendaries, if it’s a debating point. Everyone will be happy.
25 charracters
Raid team is not in charge of WvW, LS3 or PvP.
Other teams could use more developers to finish their job. This is pretty common practice for anet.
25 charracters
First raid was a good experiment, giving more variety to the game. But second raid will be a waste of resources if they going to make it prior to WvW upgrade, LS3, fractal update and next PvP major balance patch.
25 charracters
Unless you’re soloing the raids, 2-3% x10 more damage is a pretty big difference.
No, it still will be 2-3% raidwide damage.
25 charracters
Dungeons were hard when they first came out. People didn’t know what to do. But they learned, and dungeons became easy.
The same thing will happen to raids. Wing 1 is getting there. Wing 2 is hard right now because it’s new.
Learn the fight. It’s ok to have harder content in this game. Liadri was hard. Getting the pvp backpiece is hard. Raids are hard now. With practice, you can beat them. Don’t nerf something that is so new.
5 and 10 people content are very different things. Also, all content you mentioned is soloable (except for few scripted encounters), so you can do it with any group if you are good. Good luck trying this with raids.
25 charracters
It is funny and sad that you started off with an opinion, and when someone else suggests otherwise you claim numbers. Especially during a time when WoW was riding the success story that was BC and was becoming more popular.
It’s pretty much instant in google, but if you want…
It’ll be fun to see you show how a nerfed/revamped Naxx and the horrendous raid known as Trial of the Crusader were superior to say Black Temple.
Class mechanics, plain and simple. Almost all classes got more tools and more complex rotations in WotLK. Also it’s quite funny to see how you “forgot” to mention Ulduar and especially IC.
That’s the thing though, LFG actually made going through a dungeon worse for the community. It was no longer something engaging, you formed up with random people almost immediately without conversing really, everyone knew what to do, and if something went even slightly wrong there was rage, toggles for kicking, etc. I tanked for a lot of groups during that time, and I missed the authenticity of doing a dungeon formed with a group you talked with while waiting on the last DPS or heal.
Oh yeah, that evil, community-crushing-social-aspect-killing LFG… though for some weird reason everybody immediately switched to it and all complains was on forums only. Probably because most players want to play the game instead of waiting and chatting.
25 charracters
First off, WotLK was garbage compared to BC and even Vanilla. Second, normal mode in WotLK was comparable to what raiding is in this game. It wasn’t even until ToC that heroic was released which was quite a bit more challenging than how easy raiding is in GW2.
First, it’s your opinion, because numbers saying that you are wrong. Second, normal WoW raids was easy even for a complete newcomer, because trinity making everything much more simpler, and stat inflation due to gear trademill + constant boss nerfs simplifies them even further.
Then Cata was released and they dropped LFG after Firelands. That is what destroyed WoW and raiding.
First, it was LFR, not LFG. LFG was introduced in WotLK and was amazingly successful, GW2 dungeons could use something like that. Second, WoW was killed not by LFR, but by the class balance, where unique class features was removed with every big update.
25 charracters
I was under the impression that WotLK didn’t have the first ever Raid for WoW. Maybe, and that’s a big maybe as only time will tell, different difficulties might be needed for the Raids when we get enough of them and the Raiding community is spread among them. But now that we don’t even have a single complete Raid? How many difficulties did WoW start with?
That doesn’t mean that GW2 must walk same way as WoW did, just to see same things, make same mistakes and learn same lessons.
If/when that time comes, instead of 5 people working on Raids they can get 20 or 50 so they can do not just 1 more difficulty but 5 difficulties. Right now the Raiding dev team is small. Right now the raiding population is small. Right now the amount of Raids we have is small.
More difficulties means more people doing raids, more players means more popularity, more popularity means more attention and larger dev team. Making content for minority without trying to attract more people is a dead end.
25 charracters
That literally does not matter whatsoever in the context and does not in any way shape or form prove that anet never would “change all other classes instead of changing one”.
Oh, that will be easy to prove. Just wait till next balance patch, though I’m sure you will quietly disappear after that.
25 charracters
Esports have big names? Really? I bet 90% of GW2 population can’t even tell you a name of top 1 team for NA/EU.
25 charracters
It’s so funny to read this thread, full of people who think that they understand raiding model better than Blizzard do.
WotLK was most successful addon ever, and it was first addon where they introduced four different raid difficulties without gutting class balance like they do in Cata and next addons. But hey, introducing hard and easy modes it’s a heresy, because forum experts saying so.
25 charracters
No, you stop this nonsense already. Take a look at recent history, for instance, and you will see that Anet instead of changing one/two imbalanced classes before june 23rd (shoutbow mainly), they revamped (meaning changed, as you so plainly put it) the entire trait system of all classes, adding more passives in the process. I could make more arguments for why nerfing instead of further buffing and powercreeping is so incredibly important, but i prefer to refute your entire claim with this simple history lesson.
It was revamp for whole talent system promised long ago, not pvp one. Stop making things up.
25 charracters
9/10 If it’s a troll.
Otherwise; no it doesn’t. The other elite specs need nerfs.
No one is going to change all other classes instead of changing one. Stop this nonsense already.
25 charracters
Releasing content only for some kind of majority leads to a boring, stale and uninteresting game.
Not releasing content for majority leads to a dead game.
25 charracters
Class stacking shows real problem with balance and should stay. You see 2-3+ of some class in matches, constantly? Then there is OBVIOUS problem with that class being too good for some reason and must be toned down, plain and simple.
25 charracters
Just a question: For all of you who keep asking “Just make an easy mode,” who exactly do you expect to build this? I would not want the raid team to dedicate even one second of time to this task since I’d prefer they keep building their raid bosses. Are you willing to give up content you care about for this?
Because content for 80% of players is >>>>> content for 10%. Simple.
25 charracters
Lots of suggestions on already meta classes, but not even single one about warrior. Woooo.
25 charracters
“Destroying enemy team” usually means “enemy team was so weak that we won by rolling our face on keyboard with closed eyes”. That’s clearly not something worth 2 pips.
25 charracters
Doing majority of fresh content only for 5-10% of pve population is a very bad idea. Blizzard learned that lesson pretty well, but for some reason Anet want to learn it again on their own.
25 charracters
It’s a good system, because it’s making people hate current version of “competitive pvp”, making them quit it. Make it bleed, make it shrink, make queues last for 1h+, make pvp population size less than 1 tequatl raid.
When this system will finally die, anet might learn something.
25 charracters
I think my point went straight above and beyond your head.
The random 3+1 was better than this crap. Surely i can pick whatever the holy kitten i want now, but the instabilities are always the same for the same level, and there is no adjusting to the randomly picked level. The HoT changes took most of what was good about fractals and turned it into a piece of kitten grind to fit in with the expansion.
It was “swamp+t2+t3+boss”, not random. And it had way better instabilities, way lower HP pool and way better loot to compensate it. Right now doing anything 70+ non-swamp? Lolno, it’s not worth it at all.
25 charracters
We need less visual noise around, not more. Wings are already annoying enough.

What’s really hilarious, just like the pole exploit, is that it is actively slower to kill mossy when you do it. Mossy’s fight already encourages and rewards stacking, but stacking on the tree means invulnerable wolves which don’t proc various things, and several classes behaving to skip movement based skills in their rotation and do less damage.
Oh, and also, mossy cleaves way more people if he gets in a sweet spot.
In addition the fight isn’t even that hard
Why people are insisting on going out of their way to engage in a stacking trick that often makes the fight both harder to survive and slower to complete blows my mind.
Try to do it with pugs instead of writing so much text. You’ll see so many new things.
25 charracters
A legit player doesn’t have the power to stop other player from exploiting. Exploiters shouldn’t have the power to stop other players from playing legit. Kicking legit players is disrupting their gameplay.
One player shouldn’t have the power to stop other players from playing like they agreed to play. And they have perfectly legit way to remove him from party.
Want to disrupt party? Enjoy being kicked.
25 charracters
How about this:
Not harder hitting attacks, but faster attacks. Perhaps a few new attacks.
If anything they should not be faster, never ever, unless you have people sitting next to anet server room.
Encounter should have BIG attacks, yes, but also READABLE ones, with very visible, very clear tells with enough time to respond. There is no skill it trying to see tiny windup in 100500 visial effects.
25 charracters
Once I refused to go on the tree during scale 67, people just kicked me while I’ve done this before with same pugs in scale 77 (at least they said hello to my blacklist). Now for “enjoy the game” I have to use exploit like everyone else, because they will kick me if I don’t do it. Do you think this is fair? I don’t think so. The OP is right, this need a fix.
Sorry but if you don’t want to kill it the right way, you are just lazy. Don’t have enough AR? Don’t go there, then. The fight is easy if everyone know how to dodge and use boons/support.
Group opinion>your opinion. It’s called life.
25 charracters
Fractals is content, therefore they will be patch. The new fractals may have better fractal mechanics. It would be worth giving Anet suggestions on how to make fractal mechanics better. But what mechanics, need to change for fractals to be better?
As example, less 100500100500 hp punching bags and less absolutely ridiculous instabilities.
25 charracters
Juggernaut needs new skin if you want to fix it. Now its just staff skin with hammer animations, one of worst legendary skins in game.
25 charracters
I would be worried if Anet stops patching fractals because that would mean they’re going the dungeon route. In otherwords, more patches for exploits = good and less patches for exploits = future dead content.
How about more patches for content and better fractal mechanics instead?
25 charracters
And you dont have to do Mossman 2 times a day. You could branch out. You made the conscious decision to choose the same fractals for dailies because you want rewards through the path of least resistance. So surely your boredom should not even be a factor. And as ive pointed out its not hard and its actually much faster to do it legit. So it makes no sense from a reward standpoint.
I did fractals thousands times over all those years, and I don’t see a single reason why I should waste time for long fractals when anet refusing to give any additional reward for it. Any sane person will choose a fastest path because time have value, especially when you doing something daily.
And what we have on fastest path? One of most unfun boss fights in fractals. Almost invisible animation tells thanks to spell effects and relatively small boss model. High damage with tiny windup. “Fun” stealth mechanic. Horrible instabilities on top of everything. And most entertaining part, TONS of hp.
Old f50 Mossman was pretty justified boss – lots of dangerous mechanics, but low health to compensate it. New one is a living example of “how to take good boss and change him into something that everybody hates to fight against”.
25 charracters
I don’t get why people are trying to justify a safespot.
Because not everyone is a masochist who enjoying beating a giant bag of HP while trying to see small animations inside a firework show. Every day, 2 times minimum.
You love it? Great. But don’t expect everyone be like you.

How about buff this drop and then someone will sell it to Maledictus for 200g+, so he can continue feel himself special. Win-win.
25 charracters
I add every baddie who feels the need to exploit to progress through content in my ignore list and sure as heck my ignore list is huge.
ofc make your own groups called ‘exploiting already easy and boring pve content’ and I won’t join. so in the end everyone wins but mossman.
So you are joining and trying to demand from people that they must play only like you want them to play?
25 charracters
Also, people will exploit Mossman even if he is easier to kill overall, so I don’t think that’s the best solution.
Wrong. Back in f50 farming days underwater killing was a pretty rare encounter, because his HP was manageable even for a pug party. Pole became a thing ONLY because of his stupidly high HP.
