had to change jebidiah to jebediah. I’ve since learned why, but to get from point a to b on that one is a stretch to say the least. the system just detects certain letter combinations. it cant detect context
What is fastest way to get HoM 11pts without Nightfall and Factions?

the reward calculator can be tinkered with. read the description, think about an achievement you might be able to complete and click it to see if it raises your total enough. My points all came from completing campaigns, having elite armor sets and mini pets rewarded as birthday gifts. none of those can be done quickly though.
they are a great source of xp.
all give away contests in Canada require this. And most also don’t include Quebec. It’s a Canadian regulation of some form. So I can only half answer you.
It is this way because of Canadian law, not a GW decesion. Although I can’t for the life of me explain why the law is the way it is.
*edit- wikipedia has an entry on this very question

why would you not have just destroyed something in your inventory to make room :O If indeed you did in fact receive the only known piece of legendary armor known to exsist and left it behind because you had too many worn leather straps or some kitten, then words cannot express the size of the face palm i have for you…
Thanks Gaile. It’s actually kind of funny. I had to change Jebidiah to Jebediah in order to beat the filter, But the second name is what it always was so I figured it might be accepted for the gibberish it really is. I’ve always laughed that the perfectly legitimate first name got flagged while the questionable surname got a pass.
This just leaves me with the issue of what to do about the ele on the account named Jebediah Uber*kitten*. My display name is fine as is, but I’d rather not have it as a name for my main. Will a support ticket allow me to change it? and do I risk a suspension if I play him before it’s changed?
I’m not worried about doing anything about it. If it was flagged, and that’s why it was changed I can understand and accept that. I can even appreciate it. I was more wondering if I should be worried about my account being compromised. I’m also left with a character on the account that also has that name, so if in fact it was flagged, I’m guessing I better be pro active in changing that characters name. I really don’t want a forced holliday from the game
should it alarm me that my user name has changed out of the blue?
I will admit that my old name could have been somewhat questionable, It was Jebediah Ubershiet. I can still log into my account, and i was able to change my password and log in with the new one.
I didn’t get an email notifacation when I changed my password, although the change has taken effect. And I also got no notifacation that my name would be chaged/ was in violation. I just logged in and it was what it is.
It’s actually kind of funny. all the letters from my origional name are there..it’s just been “Rehashed”

i play games to do things i cant do in real life. shoot guns, swing swords, save the world from or conqour it with dragons/aliens/really kitten big laser beams. stuff like that. I never played “the sims” because it seemed silly to have a game where the point is to do mundane things I can do in real life.
edit – please don’t tell my real life wife i just called marriage a “mundane thing”

36. married father of 4. love the game.
as one who sees nothing in the gem store i want but am willing to convert gems to gold I say let her climb to the sky. The more you are willing to pay, the more I will inject into the market.
because he feels the 5g more you were asking is over priced?
I try to do mine early. nothing more satisfying than finishing a mission 3 or 4 levels lower than where they say I should be. Any more than 5 levels below recomended you don’t stand much of a chance though.
I think the armor in that pic is crafted. you can buy the pattern for karma from the master craftsman. It can be made in almost any level with almost any stat.
you can get a lot of different skins from the renown hearts that turn to karma vendors after you complete them. I think around lvl 30 is where you start to get more variety than the 3 basic beginer styles. You can then transmute the skins to different gear to get the stats you want.
I spam with melee weapons and let the auto attack do it when I’m kiting or circling with a ranged weapon. The auto attack is not reliable with melee weapons so I’ve just started spamming 1.
running through a zone above you to get to a zone your level isn’t hard to do. I have a level 54 toon who has been into pretty much every zone but orr. Quite frequently I just go for a random jog to fill up the last quarter of my xp bar by discovering new areas.
I actually like the way they do helpers in some of the personal story missions. I was helping a norn friend fight in a tournament and all my skills were replaced with cheers and boos. I could buff him and debuff hiss apponants, but i couldnt actually fight.
It may have seemed useless to me, but he had tried the mission right before I joined him solo and was unable to beat it. My cheers and boos made all the difference to him and I actually had to think and try and time things just right. it was like a mini game to me.
you can have all 8 on every character.
it’s a great way to gain experience…except for the cost of matts, which is the only thing that can be costly/difficult…but hey, i see you cleverly decided to get other people to pay that cost for you. they foot the bill, you get the XP/crafting levels. it really is a great idea.

gw1 launched with 3 slots and 6 classes I believe. I’m ok with it the way it is, i’ll only ever have 2 or 3 pve toons anyway but i wish they had the create pvp only option that they had in gw1.

at least the bots don’t clog the forums with non constructive kitten posts like this. I think the whiners are way worse than the bots themselves. ANET is doing something about it. the proof will be in the pudding. I’d rather them spend their time actually working on the problem than spending it responding to all the useless posts about it.
If i had the mats i would craft it myself and get the free xp…Unfortunately there’s no reason to turn to others for crafting in this game.
i did it once early on 2. figured i broke my toon and was a little sad. skill points are easy to earn though. it’ll even out later on. you cant unlock the 30sp elites untile you’ve unlocked 2 of the 10sp ones anyway. It all comes out in the wash later on. nothing game breaking happened.
Right now crafting is more a source of XP every 15 levels or so than anything else. Anyone can craft anything at any time, and because it’s a great way to gain XP they do.
If we didn’t have easy(the fee is negligable considering the alternative would be to pay a premium buying the item) access to all crafting proffessions all the time there would be less supply and more demand..
The benifits and effort for doing it yourself rather than paying someone else to do it take away any market value.
i just go where the people are. sometimes I find a “dead” zone where I struggle to get things done. I just find another zone and there they all are! the next day the zone that was dead the first day might be full.
Or by finding the hoards of people and playing along with them you can sometimes convince others to join youfor events in a zone no ones in. Try finding the people and saying "hey, I need someone to help me with X – skill point in X-zone, anyone else need it? Usually you’ll find several people in the same boat as you.
Sometimes the people arent where you want them to be when you want them to be there. Sometimes you actually have to ask for help.

If I remember correctly the only link for prophecies characters to go to Factions was Mhenlo saying “hey, my old friend needs help” The “threat” cantha was facing at the time was completely unrelated to the story in prophecies. There’s nothing stopping Logan from saying “hey, my third cousin twice removed on my grandmothers side who lives in Cantha needs help”.
Saying we have no reason to go there doesnt really mean much. When I was helping the white mantle chase down chosen I didn’t think I had any reason to go to Cantha either, but low and behold one found me. The main stories were stand alone. They didn’t need the story to continue.
There’s no reason to say the dominion of winds isn’t just a staging area for an expansion that has you helping the tengu reclaim lands in cantha. Or that new races won’t have starting areas on a completely new map.
Or we may not go to Cantha at all. Personally I see no reason why expansions to GW2 would have to follow the expansions to GW1. All we are really confined to is the imagination of ANET. They could take the story anywhere we need to go, and can write in whatever reasons they feel we need to do it.
Platinum has become scarse in the last 250 years? most of it was mined and produced by dwarves?
There are far less large scale mining operations with the dwarves gone. the supply of precious metals has declined. platinum levels have dropped to a pointwhere it is far to rare to support mass coin production. Vallue of other metals has increased taking the place of older currency.
I think saying that the name guild wars has nothing to do with gvg and only refers to the “Lore” in game about guild wars sounds like a cheap PR response. I think the lore was written around and to support gvg in the first game, not the other way around.
They can move away from it all they want. The guild wars were in the past and no longer rage. but to say the name “guild wars” had nothing to do with gvg is kind of a stretch.

i could support tools that let you see your own performance. you want to min/max your way to wherever it takes you, go ahead. But i’ve never seen any tools that give real time info on another players performance do anything good for a game.
the problem i see is that to get the most out of the gw2 story you need to roll a char of each race and play through the story for each in order to have all the pieces. I think thats both a fantastic design decision or a horrible one depending on your personal perspective.
the problem with the drasgon at the end of the dream is that although every player sees it, not every sylvari does. in your personal story it is your wyld hunt to kill the dragon, which is why the nightmare boss appears in the form of a dragon. but lore wise, only the player and whats her face from destinies edge have that wyld hunt which means the rest of the sylvari dream something else.
you dont kill glint in gw1. you can defeat her, but she’s talking to you afterwords just the same as if you didn’t try the bonus. that fight was never really placed into lore properly it was more just for kittens and giggles. to ease your craving to have every aspect of the game included in lore just think of it more as you knocked her the kitten out instead of killing her.
i’ve had a 5 man vent server i’ve kept for years from typefrag. not for guild purposes. just for gaming with friends so 5 is usually enough for me. i’s like 2 bucks a month.
you can bump it up to higher capacity fairly cheaply if as your guild grows. just take a look at http://www.typefrag.com/?gclid=CNL0odKQ6rICFYs7Mgod1x0AOA

it glitches sometimes till you log out. I transmuted my thief hood onto masks a few times and it would show the mask on my face and the hood….a look i wish i could keep btw…until i logged out. when i came back to the game the mask appearance was gone and it was as it should be.
it’s not a pve achievment. It’s a game achievement.
the achievment says that you completed 100% exploration of the world that Anet created. they could add a sub achievement for 100% PVE exploration or 1 for 100% WvW completion. But exploring the whole GW2 world means exploring THE WHOLE GW2 WORLD. That world includes the mists.
yup. deffinately.I have 3 toons going. 1 at 42. one at 28 and one at 22. I have probably close to 200 hours played and still have at least that many more to go before I can even say I’m done. so at the most i payed 15 cents an hour.
I’ve payed 60 bucks for games I played less than 10 hours many times before and been satisfied with that , so guild wars 2 has been a fantastic value for my money.
i miss the “bing” sound onwhispers. I don’t know if there’s just too much going on in the world or what, but i just cant pay attention to the chat window at all in this game. There’s nothing wrong with it by design. It’s just hard to pay attention to and i miss all kinds of people actually trying to talk to me.

“About 15 of us went after one of the towers close to the enemies port in. We took it and held it all night (our sides zerg saved us a few times.)”
What kind of rewards were given out for this? It seems to me the play mechanics are there, the reward system is what needs work…
He got satisfaction out of it and had fun. He enjoyed himself and found a sense of purpose. To him, that was the reward.
I love the “why dont you go back to wow” posts (because lets face it, that’s what you’re really saying).
My response is simple: if I’m feeling a void here and ArenaNet doesn’t find a way to fill it, that’s exactly what me and many, many other people might do. I think “dont like it? then leave” is a poor response to concerns like this. And I’m quite certain ArenaNet would like to figure out a better resolution than “just quit the game”.
So let’s keep the conversation productive instead of trying to get me to leave the game
but this is the problem. you miss the gear grind. I hated it in wow. stopped playingmy toon as soon as he hit 80. didnt like the pvp and raids because of the gear grind requirement. GW1 didn’t have it, and that’s why it was my game of choice.
either they add a gear grind to keep the interest of players who can get that fix elswhere but allienate everyone else.
they add a gear grind, you’re happy, i’m sad.
they don’t add a gear grind, I’m happy, your sad.
the difference is. you can go back to wow for your gear grind. Those of us who do like the GW moddel don’t have that option.
How would the WoW forums respond if they suddenly became full of ex GWplayers saying “I hate the gear grind. I want max stats at 80 so everyone is equal for pvp”
Bet all the wow players would call me out and tell me to go back to GW.
what i dont get is…if you miss your gear grind, why did you leave it? it’s still there. in fact, in the case of wow, theres probably new gear to grind as of this week.
I think most people really got bored with the gear grind, stopped doing it and just don’t know how to fill the void.
Oh just to note, I was innocent in this encounter and was no way playing the devils advocate, I made a comment on how I was sticking it to the drakes with my bow on main chat cause someone asked which was better, long or shortbow, then someone said “Just like I stick it to your mom everynight” so yeah, I’m the one COMPLETELY at fault here.
that made me laugh….it’s all so subjective.
report, block and move on.
an ele with a staff has so many aoe attacks it’s quite easy to drop 3 or 4 on a patch of ground simultaniously. cool downs might be long but you have so many even if you spam them all you’ll always have 1 or 2 ready to go at the least.
my feelers don’t get hurt easily so i’ve never reported anyone for chat violations.
If you’re offended by all means report it. If there’s a report, they say they’ll act. And it is well within your rights to do it.
but the internet is full of disrespectful kittenheads who will never keep their opinions to themselves. that’s not going to change
i’ve found my gear has kept up pretty well through drops and story rewards. I’ve had to suppliment the odd time from karma vendors to get that one piece that just hadnt dropped for a while. it’s all throw away stuff during leveling so i wouldnt invest a lot of coin into it.
threat mechanics to me are kind of like exploiting poor A.I. it never made sense that a mob would sit and flail on a tank till it died without ever trying to go after someone else. This may work against mindless beasts, but surly a boss who was a general or a powerul mage would be smarter than that.
I would rather feel like i was fighting unpredictable, thinking opponants that changed up tactics and actually fought back rather than just submiting to a numbers game of threat generation.
i remember rata sum being an anagram of “mursaat” and riven earth being an anagram of “thrive near”
rata sum also happens to be built on the ruins of an ancient civilization that no one seems to know the origions of. hmmmm…what kind of ancient peoples might have had a great city full of pyramids and such that would have been somwhere in that regeon…
or he just went back to sleep like he did last time he was defeated and will wake up again in another few thousand years.
