I didn’t by it for an e-sport but i did buy it hoping to find a long term casual pvp game. Played AB and GVG constantly for like 4 years.

Yeah, I haven’t even logged in since the beginning of Feb.

On a more positive note, there’s always hope for future expansions…hence I still check in on the forums.

I get where you’re coming from. I wouldn’t say I’m BAD at gaming, but i’ve never been “elite”

if it requires studying math, synergies and min maxing I can’t be bothered. That’s not why I game.

This has gated me from a lot of high level pve/pvp content in several games.

From what I’ve seen of them they don’t work well at all. The 2 times I’ve come across them in game they were crashed…or in the process of crashing

i think a guest should have to be invited. Otherwise they aren’t really guests, they’re crashers.

My drops have remained consistent since head start till now.

They suck, but they suck to the same consistent degree as they always have.

I have a friend who used to work at a call center for and ISP in the early days when it was about 50/50 between dial up and DSL. He said when he got really frustrated with a collar he would tell them to unplug their modem directly from the wall jack, not the back of the modem, and plug it back in.

Not because it fixed anything, but because a good chunk of the time the phone they were talking on was split from that same jack, and someone else would get the call when they called back.

The lack of subscription is the one single factor that made me play GW1 instead of the other choices of the day.

There is no way I would have returned for GW2 if that core selling feature had been changed.

I don’t know about kill or rez steeling per say as both people can get credit. The thing that makes me go booooooo is when you find a couple of NPC’s laying there waiting for a rez so you clear the mob off them only to turn around and see another guy run off after reviving them while you kept the mob busy.

Hardly a real problem though. Like others have said, it’s a big world with limitless opportunities to finish off dailies.

I would pvp for no loot if it were fun to do.

No PVE game can hold my attention for more than 6 months. When I can accurately predict how A.I. will react everything starts to feel too mechanical.

This one was definitely a good one. Try as I might though, I just can’t get into the PVP in this game as is, and it’s PVP that hooks me long term. (many real people aren’t afflicted with simple A.I.)

Not a fault of the game though. I bought it, I played it, I liked it.

I’m still holding out hope that payed expansions will add a pvp mode that hooks me. It was GvG and AB that kept me playing GW1 for 4 years and AB’s weren’t added till the first boxed expansion. So although my playtime is probably going to drop right off for the foreseeable future, I’m not the least bit bitter or disappointed about it.

Do you actually have to click on the chest, or is it just an extra click of the f button? I’m just wondering if this was done as another stumbling block for bots. I didn’t log in yesterday so I’m kind of confused by this whole change.

I think they get cremated. Probably either wrapped in a paper death shroud or in a hookah.

the funniest thing is mesmers. they should only played by girls, or guys who aren’t really sure if they are girls or not.

They were undead under the control of Kilbron searching kryta for the scepter of orr in GW1. The white mantle and the player characters pretty much wiped them out.

i’ve played through it 3 times till almost the end. I make it to the temple of grenth in orr part and lose interest. The pact offensive in Orr just gets a little to science fiction to me and I get put off.

Right up until fort trinity I love every minute of it. The tanks, submarines and laser beams just take things to far out there in relation to the way the rest of the game immersed me for my taste.

Give us all a house in our starting city and allow them to be sold on BLT. Watch real estate prices skyrocket in LA. what do you think a house on the beach just outside FOTM would be worth compared to one on the fringe of the hole in DR?

to sum up:

i play the game in the style of “x”, can we please remove all the people who play the game in the style of "y"please?

or we could go plan B and remove all the people who don’t care about money cause they just ruin the fun that those who do

One things for sure. personally I use play style “z” I buy gems and sell them for my gold. we all know Anet won’t try and drop that style.

Considering people have been doing this since launch and it’s been widely talked about on the forums yet no official response or changes have come from any of it, I’d say they’re ok with it.

It’s purely cosmetic and uses up transmute stones so I really see nothing wrong with it.

Not true at all. In fact in GW1 we fought necrid horsemen from orr. there are references in the mad king lore about someone being trampled by a horse. there are small tidbits about horses all over the place. We don’t know where they are now, but the definitely do/ did exist in the guild wars world at some point.

another problem with your comparison is that condition damage is applied with direct damage on top of it. my thief can get up close to 25 stacks on a target by himself using caltrops/ death blossom. but the strikes from the death blossom alsodo direct damage which needs to be factored into your dps total for comparison. the strikes that apply burning from my ele or my guardian also apply both direct damage along with the condition damage.

Even in GW1 I never really had a main/alts. it was more a matter of right now i want to play an ele, next match/mission i’ll play a warrior. That’s the beauty of minimizing vertical progression and a constantly increasing level cap.

In gw2 i’ve played all the classes. I only found 4 i like so far so I will level up and gear those 4 (2 done, 2 half way) and pick the one that fits my mood at the time of playing, or the one that best compliments my team/group.

I’m more bothered by the fact that nothing is immune to bleeding. earth elementals, ghosts, golems…they all bleed. I figure if they were going to give the dredge an immunity based in lore they should have been more consistent with it as an over all design.

It isn’t anything game breaking. Obviously it comes down to a game play based decision taking precedent over lore. But I can definitely relate with you being puzzled by it.

I Think you’ve answered all of your own questions. the orrian armada was docked in the river so the char went around to avoid it. It would likely take more than 12 hours to embark the fleet and be ready to bombard the char on the coast so they likely held the fleet in port to keep the crews to defend the city.

as for kilbron jutu being able to menouver through the char lines undetected, this really isn’t an impossible feat for a small band of infultrators in any battlesituation, and it’s certainly easier than moving an entire fleet through a line.

something I find really odd here is the turm “resurrection” is still applied to ranger pets when they return to action…so apparently they die…they just never fall over and walk around uselessly till they resurrect.

I used to get that with my thief hood too. After i transmuted the hood over the mask he would still have the mask on under the hood. It looked pretty sweet too. alas, it went away after relog as well.

I wouldn’t say they are crap exactly. They are far more useful from an exploring/traveling point of view than a combat one though. They get you back up when the waypoint is a long walk back, or when you die 10 feet away from unlocking that next waypoint.

great thread as i’ve just starting putting thought into this stuff having reached 80 on almost 3 toons but doing so just playing with whatever i had. 1 thing about the numbers here for the people listing their trait specs is what do your numbers for p/p/t/v look like with these builds?

It doesn’t bother me. I dont think that the first person to kill zaitan should be the only person who gets too. This is the compromise we make.

guess the RPers just have to adjust the “roles” they “play” to insure their behavior conforms to the same code of conduct as the rest of us. Otherwise anyone could be a kitten to anyone and justify it as “i wasn’t being a jerk, i was just role playing a jerk”

so don’t use them. they are optional. I think if there were less of them respawning on death and having to re-walk the entire zone would be more of a hinderance on exploration.

We already see this problem in orr where all the waypoints are contested all the time so you end up spending hours just trying to get from 1 side of a zone to the other because you have to start all over again from the beggining.

there are gear level requirements for upgrades. I don’t really know the specific ranges but you can’t put a level 80 rune on a piece of level 10 armor. chances are you need to upgrade the ring to use the better rune.

i didn’t even need an alt to use my priory armor. It’s level 80 to equip, but you can still buy it at any level as long as you belong to the orderand transmute it onto lower level stuff which you CAN equip.

I would assume cultural is the same way. I wear some tier 2 human boots, but I can’t remember what level I was when I bought them. They are now level 80 exotic stats.

Level 80 rares are only good for the skins anyway because eventually you will want exotic stats so it’s not much of a sacrafice to transmute it.

Transmute stones. I was wearing the priory medium coat on my thief from around lvl 55 to 70.

I know downscaling adds a little bit of risk, but I can still rofl stomp monsters in lvl 1-15 zones as if I wasn’t downscaled.

not true. Lyssa is the current goddess of water. That domain went to her when Kormir ascended.

Balthazar, god of war, fire, and courage.
Dwayna, goddess of healing, air, and life.
Grenth, god of darkness, death, and ice.
Kormir, goddess of order, spirit, and truth.
Lyssa, twin goddesses of beauty, water and illusion.

If you’re going to match dragons to gods that’s what you gotta work with.

They need to be within earshot. The inteligence gain isn’t really and individual increase. It’s due to the rapid communication between them that allows them to pool knowledge at a fast pace. I’m not sure how acute their hearing is though. they may be able to hear each other from a mile away or more with them big ol’ ears.

sounds to me like you should have brought 30 allies with you and cleared them out of there before trying the jumping puzzle.

I think just the opposite. It’s great fun watching someone kill themselves like that. Empathy and backlash were my favorite mesmer skills in gw1.
