Sadly, it’s not just 15 minutes wasted, it’s 300 influence, and the queue time of 3 days that’s wasted as well.
Also, unless you get real lucky (or have a large group tracking him on the map), you won’t find him and defeat him in 15 minutes. If you have a larger group to help with tracking them BEFORE you spawn the event, oh wait…nevermind…that defeats the whole purpose of the training one, doesn’t it?
Plain and simple, none of the guild events should be done with less than 10 people, and I’d recommend a lot more than that if possible.
Devona’s Rest, broken again…
ANET could do worse than examine the masters of MMO’s..yes Blizzard and really investigate why an 8 year old game still trounces every new mmo release to the market…The simple answer is it listens. And Content..lots of it. They have a brand new 12 boss raid…what do we have?? Banging some fences in the snow and npcs we could care less for…
Actually not true. Blizzard analyzed the most popular and most played mmo of all time which is farm ville for their current game model. This goes a lot deeper then purely adding an actual farmville to their game by the way as this game plan began implementation in mid Wotlk in making content appeal and tap into the huge player base farmville has and gain it on a subscription and microtransaction level.
Gw2 by that logic should analyze Farmville, but I love gw2 and have never had interest in farmville
Art work in this game is amazing I agree 100%
Not sure where you came up with your “facts”, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. Blizzard didn’t model their MMO after Farmville, and in no way could have. WoW came out in 2004 (and was in development MANY years prior to this), and Farmville wasn’t release until 2009 (and I can guarantee took a LOT less development time).
That being said though, Blizzard listens to it’s players? LOL! Guess that was the other MMO from them that I didn’t play…
As for content, and lots of it, Asheron’s Call by far exceeded any other MMO I have ever seen when it came to content updates, and sadly, it never had (nor will never have) the numbers that WoW had. WoW came into the market at the right time, and was a pretty decent MMO for the time it was released. It doesn’t mean it’s the best MMO, it’s just hard to pry that many people away from the game, once they’ve invested so much time into it.
I agree, and have made a similar suggestion:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Different-Levels-of-Commander-Tag
I would love to see party sizes that are larger than 5, and now that Guild Events require more than 5 people, YES, there is a reason to implement larger sizes other than WvW.
This problem is back since the last patch, and even worse than it’s ever been. I’m not the only one, our whole guild has been complaining of this since patch.
If you have run the repair, and it’s still not working, as a last ditch effort, you could try reinstalling the game. I know it’s not the preferred solution, but the log file is indicating that you have a corrupt file in the archive. If the repair isn’t fixing it, then the only other way I can see to fix it, is to force it to repatch by reinstalling.
Where’s AoD and Sir Morningstar?!
AoD is still around. Sadly, I haven’t seen Morningstar in several weeks now. We miss you Morningstar, please come back.
I have reported this in game, reported here in the bug reports, and no response or fix from Anet. Sadly, it seems that they are more concerned with releasing new buggy content each month than actually acknowledging there are issues with the current content.
I’m not looking for an overnight fix, but for pete’s sake, at least address some of the issues that people are seeing. I have lost a bunch of materials over this stupid bug, and have learned from “my mistake”, but it’s annoying and shouldn’t be this way.
Not proposing this as a solution, rather a work around, as I haven’t had any issues since I started doing it this way:
Open your mail.
Click compose.
Type in user name you want to send it to.
Drag items from inventory into the mail.
Hit send.
Don’t use right click for anything, at all, and it seems to work. If you hit right click, and there are others around, it will bug out, and is VERY easy to reproduce (it’s actually clicking on someone in the 3D basically, and replacing their name in the send to field).
In your documents folder, there is a Guild Wars 2 folder, in that folder there is a file ArenaNet.log. Check that file (and you might even want to post the contents of that file in a spoiler tag on here), and hopefully that will give you some idea as to what might be causing the crash.
My guess is, that since it’s not everyone, it’s a conflict between the client and something running on your machine (a driver, another program in the background, etc.). Post some of the information about your machine (video card, memory, OS version, etc.) and maybe others here can help determine what might be happening.
Good luck
I still don’t understand, why after all these months of these events getting stuck/bugged, they don’t implement something like the following:
From the start of the event, the event has X amount of time to complete (for instance, 4 hours). If the event doesn’t not complete within the allotted time, it can assume that either noone is doing it, or that it’s stuck. In either case, it resets automatically.
If the time frame of 4 hours isn’t enough, even every 8 hours would be better than days, sometimes weeks of the events being stuck until a server reset clears them.
I have witnessed this happen as well, and not just rangers. I thought it was a fluke, but has happened a few times. Not sure if it’s an exploit, or just a bug, but either way, yeah, I’ve seen it.
While it may be easy to purchase the food cheap and eat it, it surely seems out of whack that 25 foods are required for the daily. It’s not about the cost, but just about the logic behind it.
If the intention of this daily was to encourage people to use and discover foods, 25 is too high of a number. 2-3 foods a day is more than enough.
I thought the same exact thing, what a waste of a consumable buff for a daily task. Sure, make it 2-3 (even 5 for that matter), but 25 seems a bit excessive. Most of the other dailies make complete sense, and are, like you pointed out, a learning tool it seems. This seems it’s a learning tool showing people who waste food, hehe.
P.S. – There are people starving in other MMO’s…
I just tried to complete this jumping puzzle for my daily, and I was able to loot the chest, but it didn’t count towards my daily.
My apologies if my comment earlier sounded like I didn’t believe it, the screenshot just wasn’t very clear, and not due to anyone’s fault who are posting here. I hate screenshots for that reason, as it’s easy to misunderstand what is going on, it has nothing to do with the subject matter at all. The second screenshot however, sums it up pretty well.
Yes, that is the correct guild name/tag, and Moozilla is the guild leader. He can often be found in Lion’s Arch recruiting. Seems to be a pretty cool guy the few times I’ve chatted with him in Lion’s Arch, and although they are mainly a PvE guild, they do PvP and WvW as well. Most are Karma trains, but there are a few in RED that are into WvW and are pretty good and competitive as well.
As others have pointed out, apologies from DR for this, and hopefully it will be dealt with abruptly and appropriately. I can’t stand hackers/exploiters, and hope that it’s dealt with.
Not sure if there is any point in posting it here. But these players were back tonight and I was frapping and have them speed hacking and flying.
We did report them as “botting” for what good that will do. If you can pass this on to their guild leader I am sure they would want to stop this before it hurts the guild anymore then it has.
Thanks!
I will pass along the info if I see him today.

3 RED Players were using hacks to fly/speed around the south island of SBI BL, this distracted from a northern assault by the same guild at Bay with golems. We don’t know if any hacks were involved with the northern assault.
Not saying they weren’t flying or hacking, but this is why I think screenshot’s are useless, and that videos would tell a much better picture. To me, that picture looks like he’s standing on the rubble, which would then imply he’s not flying, rather he jumped up there. So hard to tell from just that screenshot alone, IMO.
Hopefully, if they are hacking, Anet will sort it out, and ban them.
Retro influence is meant to work when guesting. If you have a member guesting in another world any event he does gives influence to the member on the home world.
I read it in an update note a dev said.
Edit : Correction, it seems that in January, according to the patch notes, you’re right, this is supposed to work. I’ll have to verify it, as I don’t recall this working the last time we guested to another server.
(edited by Retrospek.4583)
I still don’t see how this is an issue. Just get 3-5 guildies to do CoF P1 a few times and you will get influence quickly. You can also guest on multiple servers and get groups of people to do Peni/Shelter’s gate farm (each group earns 20 on completion.)
You do realize that the bonus influence caps at 2 players, right?
You do realize that IF you already had all the other stuff prior on Art of War unlocked, it’s 30k influence to unlock the first set of guild events?
You do realize that guesting does NOT earn influence, right?
You do realize, once smaller guilds spend the time to unlock the content (even if it takes them 4 months to do so), they will NOT be able to complete the content, as it requires a MUCH larger group to complete some of the guild events?
You do realize, I just made Swiss cheese out of your whole argument that you don’t understand where it’s a problem?
Edit : What makes your argument even more laughable is the fact that you already asked in another thread about influence not working when guesting, so you already shot wholes in your one argument…wow.
(edited by Retrospek.4583)
The monthly says masterwork items, make sure the items you are crafting are of “Green quality”, anything else, and it won’t count.
Currently, if you log out in Lion’s Arch, and you end up in Overflow, it seems that you don’t gain influence for that toon.
Before, it was no big deal losing 20-30 rep per day, but for small guilds saving up the insane amounts of influence needed to unlock and pursue the new guild events, I want every nickle and dime I can get my hands on.
What I don’t understand is, who gives a rats kitten if we’re in overflow or even guesting on another server, if we do the work, we should get credit. Not sure who came up with this idea, but I’d really like to see the reasoning behind it.
There is no problem as i see it, everyone can be in a small guild and a large guild
Sure, that’s not a problem at all, since while the people are in the larger guild, they aren’t helping the smaller guild grind to unlock the stuff either…sure, no problem there at all, right? That is, unless you’re the smaller guild, who in the long run, people will stop repping altogether.
Sadly, in most large guilds, this is EXACTLY why I wouldn’t want to be a part of them. It’s not about the friendship and companionship of fellow guildies, it’s about what can the group do to help me. I don’t think nor believe that all large guilds are this way, but a good majority are, and the larger they are, the more likely this mentality is to happen.
I’ve been there, done that, and prefer having a smaller guild of friends I know and trust. Large guilds tend to harbor a bunch of people who will stick around long enough to get what they want out of the guild, and then move on to the next step, there is no loyalty or friendship. If that’s the idea of fun, no thanks, I’ll go back to flash games until the next great game comes out.
This is bloody ridiculous, Good bye GW2.
Of all the things to quit over, you choose them adding 2 more waypoints which makes fast travel easier? Really? LMAO!
Factual data you can take to the bank on this subject:
There are 3 main build types:
1) Tank
2) Healer
3) DPS
The general objective of the 3rd type of build is, not surprising, is to increase dps. I realize that GW2 doesn’t have as well defined builds as other MMO’s (thank you for this), but the general concept still prevails in this game.
Now, if the general concept for a dps build is to increase their dps, why would this trigger better loot (and not in the indirect approach of faster kills = more loot)? Short answer, it wouldn’t.
Also, no programmer in their right mind would tie a random loot table to a characters dps stats. MMO programmers have done some really short-cut strange things over the years, but coming from a programming background myself, I would NEVER see a reason to tie a loot table to a characters dps.
Finally, if you really want solid data, check with your sister for the full details, currently, it sounds like she’s the only one who knows how to replicate this. Without more details on a possible exploit, I call shenanigans on this one.
You are completely avoiding the prospect of why Guild Missions were installed into the game anyway. It isn’t hard for a small guild to get influence, party up, do dungeons, do events, there are actually(gasp) influence bonuses for doing things with other guild members.
There are actually(double gasp)small guilds that aren’t upset by this update, because they know they’ll get it eventually, because they’re going to work for it. (A party worth of people is not a guild)
Whether or not you want to get to know people and invite them to help out with influence is YOUR issue, not the game. Whether or not you want to work for with it and the rest of your guild is THEIR issue, not the game. There are plenty of ways to get the content you want to build, so instead of actually complaining about it on a forum, why don’t you go actually… i dunno, work for it??? All this time crying tears could actually be spent(triple gasp) GETTING INFLUENCE.
What a concept.
Wrong – a guild can be a party of 5 people. This game does NOT cater to having a guild larger than 5 people for ANY of the content except WvW and, after today’s patch, obtaining guild influence. Even WvW has it’s limitations of actually catering to guilds larger than 5 (commander tag being the biggest drawback currently).
Dungeons – 5 man max.
Fractals – 5 man max.
PvE Content – less than 5 is more than sufficient.
I would MUCH rather have a guild of 5-10 active players who are all friends, than be in a large guild where you only know 3 people personally, and the rest of the people are there just to use them to get where they need to go. Large guilds are usually (not always) full of players who use the lower man on the totem pole to further their agenda, and nothing more. Yes, I have been in larger guilds in other MMO’s, and I’d much rather play with a group of friends.
You can defend their decision to outcast the smaller guilds all you want, but it could very well not only come back to bite them, but in the long run, hurt you as well, as less people = less devs on the payroll = less content.
Another good reason that most don’t use them, is that they think it fails most of the time. In a way, it does. It doesn’t rez someone from dead, only downed. So technically, it’s not a rez, it’s more of a heal a downed player.
And as Vorch pointed out, giving up a useful skill for one of these is usually not a great choice.
Funny thing is, that Colin was asked this in the interview, and he skirted around the real problem, and fluffed the answer. It’s very apparent why he fluffed the answer now that the patch is out…plain and simple, they either didn’t think about the small guilds (which they had better start to, as this is where the bread and butter is), or they don’t care (which again, they had better start to if this is the case).
I’m hoping, that it was an oversight on their part, and they will work something out, cause as it is, this WILL run most of the smaller guilds out of the game.
Pros – New daily system and hopefully guild events will prove to be fun.
Cons – Daily tracker still collapses, even though the patch notes state otherwise (I should be able to have it perma-open if I choose). Small guild are being pushed out (or into expanding into larger guilds) with the amount of influence required to unlock the content for guild events. Our small guild had almost everything unlocked up until today (with spending a LOT of gold to get more influence), but it’s an even more insane amount to unlock guild event stuff.
I’d like to see the data on guild sizes, as I’m sure there are probably a LOT more guilds that 25 or less active members than there are 50 active members or more. Not all of use want to have a large guild, but we don’t want to lose out on the content either. Bad implementation IMO.
That being the case, rest assured, that a dps increase doesn’t increase your loot drops, and even if by some strange remote off the wall chance it did, your sister (nor your) could be banned for that. They can’t punish people for increasing their dps.
Anyhow, trust me, if increasing your dps alone was the reason for better drops, this would have been discovered and exploited LONG before your sister found it.
Are you sure she’s not trolling you?
There is a waypoint they added in Cursed Shores and I think the other was in Malchor’s Leap. They will show as 509/511 if you haven’t visited them since they added them, but you’ll still get 100% map completion (or if you already had it, it will show as you need these 2, but they don’t count towards the 100% completion).
No food for the troll. At least I hope this is a troll post…please tell me it is?
Easy solution
1. Buy gems
2. Convert Gems -> Gold
3. Buy materials
4. Craft your toon to 80Solved
This is correct. You can purchase the materials on the trading post (and some with your main thru Karma vendors) to level 100% from level 1 to 80 by crafting. There are 8 professions, and without boosters and other outside buffs for crafting, you can gain 10 levels per profession. Every character can level all professions to 400, so you can essentially buy a level 80 toon this way.
Think of this….
Guild Missions – No support for multiple private guild groups or events. Popping the pin invites everyone to your guild event.
WvW changes – Orange swords won’t show now for less than 25 people. Yet we have no way to control how many people join using a commander and squad system. Forced to run as seperate groups using 3rd party voice.
They are making changes and adding content that require multiple groups to organize without giving us the tools to do it properly. I sure hope they add something in the WvW patch…
100% agree on this. Was checking over the Guild Puzzle event, and oddly enough, it requires 6 or more (according to the description) to complete the event. 6 or more? That’s odd, groups are only allowed to add 5, so why 6? That being said, it’s another cry for PLEASE update the commander choices to allow smaller groups and private groups.
Thanks for the response, Kat, and I agree with others, please let us pin it perma-open if we choose
As title says, the daily tracker still collapses, it doesn’t stay open all the time (it’s random when it does collapse it seems).
Pssst – although we appreciate your optimism, that’s not a solution.
I agree with your post.
I also question why does the top server in a matchup get breakout events? I thought the concept of the breakout event was to help the underdog(s) get a little boost.
I still think that Anet should only keep the data for x amount of weeks (for example, 8 weeks of data gets averaged into the scores). This would allow for quicker movement, and after about 7 more weeks, bring us back in line with paid transfers (instead of doing it all at once).
Going forward, this would also help reshape the server lineups when there are mass exits from a server as well, instead of being stuck in a higher tier than your server can fend off.
I think this is the simplest solution that would benefit everyone all around (those who cried that resets would be bad and those who want to see fresh new servers every now and then).
Better yet, Anet could log everytime a node is hit, and then scan the log files for something along the following:
X amount of nodes in Y amount of time over a total time of Z.
For example, 10 nodes in less than 60 seconds and a total time of hitting nodes over 2 hours.
Every now and then (very rarely) someone actually at keys could be doing this for an extended period of time, but it would certainly hone in on those who are abusing the teleport bot thing. Once this flag is raised, then someone at Anet could watch this persons actions, and see that they are teleporting and/or botting (it’s very apparent once you watch them for a few seconds).
Then BANHAMMER! And I don’t mean a 1 day ban, I don’t mean a 3 day ban, go for the glory, and perma-ban these scumbags! Once the gold farmers have had several accounts banned for this, they’ll have to raise the price of the gold they sell to pay for the accounts lost. If the price raises high enough that they can’t compete with gem sales, it’s bye bye botter/farmers (which in the long run means more revenue for Anet as well).
Would be nice if they would find a nice solution that fits all of us, its hard to do so though. For every solution there will be people complaining.
And Nels the Cornwhisperer, if you really believe that then you’ve never been part of some good coordination in WvW
After checking his post history, I think he’s a suggestion forum troll. He tends to have negative comments towards everyone’s suggestions, and seems to troll quite a few posts per day.
IOJ did something that impressed me big time tonight while trying to hit the east side of DR garrison. They left men behind to defend the tower that had 3 trebs up and running.
DR needs to take a page from this, and realize that not everyone should be part of the main front of the zerg, we do need to leave others behind to defend things. When IOJ got pushed out of the garrison, they fell back to the tower, and started hitting the walls again. Kudos to you guys for this.
We often don’t have the numbers to fight the main zerg head on head, and we certainly don’t have enough to fight IOJ and SBI at the same time on the front lines. We need to start taking points, and leaving a few behind, if nothing else, to call out incoming.
WvW is not about small parties. Never has been, never will be.
You’re right, cause it takes 40+ people to take a tower or a camp, right? /facepalm
When are people going to learn, that there is more to WvW than just zerging every target. Do you honestly think that a real life war is won by ground troops alone? If you do, you are sadly mistaken. The same tactics apply to WvW, that a small strike force can easily accomplish as much, if not more than the zerg can.
Regardless of what you think of the WvW being about the zerg, my suggestion stands, and I’m sure there are others out there that would happily pay to have a tag that can be toggled on so that only party members see it, not the whole map. Honestly, it’s the only reason I refuse to get the commander book right now.
As for guild only, I would prefer if it wasn’t guild only, as we are a smaller guild that has alliances with other guilds. The lead dev just recently said that with smaller guilds, they would like to promote alliances like we have with other smaller guilds, and this is yet another way they can advance that idea.
Many times, we as a smaller group in WvW are forced to leave a few out of the main group (we get 6-8 sometimes). That being the case, we have to split into 2 parties, and it’s harder to manage them this way.
The idea of the commander tag isn’t really something any of us want to entertain, as we don’t want to spend the money to be followed by others expecting us to lead our WvW server to victory. We still want to remain a little more private, but with a slightly larger party.
My suggestion is offer multiple levels of the commander tag, such as military titles (Sergeant, Lieutenant, General, etc.) and each level would provide something along the lines of the following:
Level 1) <insert title here> can lead a party of 10 people, costs 20g, and does not display icon publicly, only displays to those in the party.
Level 2) <insert title here> can lead a party of 25 people, costs 40g, and gives a choice of displaying the icon publicly or not.
Level 3) <insert title here> can lead a party of 40 people, costs 60g, and gives a choice of displaying the icon publicly or not.
Level 4) Commander Title as it is now. 100g and when turned on, displays publicly.
I’m sure there are many others that would like to see this implemented. Even if the costs were more than I listed, I would most likely still like to see it implemented. The key part being able to publicly NOT display the icon, but have a larger party, and all in the party see the icon.
DR has Pro to thank for the fairweather transfers. They thumped their chests for so many weeks that so many believed they were our ticket to the top, and when they bailed, a few other guilds thought we were doomed.
Funny thing is, I think we’re doing better without them, and definitely doing better without the drama they brought.
2nd to post wooo!!!!!! this tier is a joke (DR, IoJ). Just wait until any of the T6 servers move up one and kitten stomp errbody.
If this tier is such a joke, then why waste your time posting here?
Must have gotten stomped by DR or IOJ or both at some point, and you’re so affected by it you felt the need to post on a thread that doesn’t concern you. Thanks for that.
I do believe you lost last week, despite many IOJ and DR guilds forming an ‘unofficial’ alliance to double team us. Though, thanks to that, we’ve gained some of ‘decent’ guilds that weren’t interested in playing that game and have come over to SBI now.
Good job on misunderstanding my post. I wasn’t putting SBI down, Maverick Holix didn’t target SBI so I left them out of the argument. He obviously was affected by either DR or IOJ, hence his comments toward those 2 servers, not SBI.
As for forming some “unofficial” alliance, I don’t partake in that. My vote, “If it’s red, it’s dead” and have fun doing so. I’d expect them to try to take us out, just like I’m going to try to take them out. If you’re not having fun doing it, you’re doing something wrong, and it’s time to move on.

I too have experienced this and also have had where my character won’t stop running, and I have to click buttons on the mouse multiple times, or use my arrow keys several times (remapped the WASD to arrow keys) to get my character to stop. It’s really annoying when trying to do a jumping puzzle or fractal requiring jumps, and you fall…
We ran into that before as well, everyone from the guild will have to “Exit to desktop” wait a few seconds, and then relaunch the client and log in.
It’s a pain, but it’s been weeks since it happened, and no issues again with that.
Good luck, hope it works out for ya.
I was talking with some friends about this the other night, and I understand the pros and cons, and think we had a way to fix both problems:
By default the option is to always allow someone to inspect your gear. Once the “So and so requested to view your gear” box popups, you can say “Always allow” or “Never allow” or simply Yes this time/No this time.
When someone inspects your armor, the box then pops up (unless they have already changed the default) and either allows or disallows based on the players response. This option could also be toggled at any time (for instance, it’s auto-turned off in Dungeons and WvW).
Edit – As for the Elitism thing, it can be achieved now. As a party leader, I could require everyone in group to link their gear and kick them if they refuse or don’t meet my requirement. And for the record, no I don’t agree with the Elite attitude, that’s why we try to keep our guild small and friendly with just enough to run dungeons and events on our own.
Secondly, if your having problems with culling.
you need to upgrade your hardware.
With the recent change, culling got better for some and significantly worse for others.
That tells us that it may then be a hardware problem where people are using the lowest spec computers available. If you are using the lowest grade of equipment, you may also want to come to terms that culling will possible never get better for you.
LMAO! If you think that culling is a result of client hardware, you need to L2Program, cause you obviously have no clue what you’re talking about.
I have this issue quite often where a stealthed thieve will hit me for more than half my health appear for a split second, restealth, and and I’m downed. Then stealth again, and stomp/stake me. This is not due to my hardware, I assure you that.
Before you claim that it’s my old hardware and blah blah blah, I’d bet that I have been building computers for longer than you knew what a computer was, and I know I don’t have cutting edge technology today, but I assure you, it’s more than adequate to play this game.
Now, would you like to blame the something else on the issue, or you would finally like to admit that the class has some issues that need to be worked on? I’m sure you won’t admit it, as you enjoy your 2 button no talent broken class.
