I think I figured out the Laurels one…when my monthly came up, there was a popup that said something about “You’ve earned Laurels, and can spend them…”. I waited awhile and didn’t accept the contents of the chest right away, then I closed the popup window, and that’s when I got the hint completion.
It’s odd that it requires you to close the hint window, but I think that’s the key to it. Hope that helps someone else.
82/83 – Items and Equipment – Laurels, I’ve had over 160 laurels (currently, 71), and have spent them on multiple characters.
Tomorrow, I’m going to try to complete the PvP Daily, and see if it triggers…Still insane that this bug has existed this long, but they have time to add content that is only around for a few days…
I like the idea of the donation fund, and fully agree that I (plus others) have skipped purchasing upgrades due to the price being high (sometimes, I don’t have the full amount to fund the upgrade). Allowing multiple people to foot the cost is a great idea!
+1 for a great suggestion!
+1, agree with this suggestion!
Sorry, bumped the other thread.
This isn’t true about the achievement part, I got 1st place, got 1 achievement point, then got 3rd and got another achievement point. Now I’ve landed 3rd and 2nd, and can’t get that last achievement point to finish this out. At no time have I bet on the mystery moa, I’m using the standard ones.
Update: Just got 1st on a different moa, and it finally went thru, yay!
(edited by Retrospek.4583)
I’ve taken third and second with Meep, and didn’t get credit. I’m 2/3 for the achievement, so it appears this still isn’t fixed yet…
Note: On Both occasions, I got my 1 and 3 tickets worth for winning, but not the achievement.
So, let me get this straight, you are against gambling because you don’t believe in it in real life, but it’s okay to murder and kill things for money and loot?
Great suggestion, would love to see categories added to the friends list.
Custom categories would be best, but if not, things like Fractals, WvW, Dungeons, sPvP, Guildies, etc. would be nice.
Change the current Commander to something like “Squadron Commander”, and add another tag that’s something like “Group Commander”.
The “Group Commander” could be a lower level rank, that would cost less (say 50g), but also require a pre-req based on the group you’ll be commanding (ie, the tag works only in outside PvE or WvW depending on which rank you obtain). For instance, the WvW tag would require a minimum WvW Rank of 25, whereas the PvE would require a small “personal story line” set of quests.
The “Group Commander” would only display a different commander icon to this in the party, not publicly (so that the Squadron commander has superior authority in the case of WvW). This lower ranking commander could also only command half the number of people as the “Squadron Commander”. In the case of WvW, the lower ranking commander could then be used for a smaller strike team, whereas the main zerg would follow the public commander tag around.
This would also benefit medium size guilds who would like to complete guild events, who don’t need (nor want) the higher rank tag.
There are many times we enter WvW or do our guild events, and we have 8-10 show up. I’d gladly shell out the 50g and even do the pre-reqs to obtain this secondary rank commander…but refuse to do the current one (not because of the gold, but because I don’t want a public icon).
It’s nice to know that dr loves to bring a zreg to south camp for 3 camp flippers while your garrison is being taken.
http://puu.sh/39pWr.jpg
Ah, so NOW I get why IOJ thinks that we outnumber them…when they think that is a zerg, that would explain why they think that…
Have you ever seen your zergs? Go back a few pages, look at some of those pics, and tell me what a zerg is. I highly doubt 12 people (from what I counted in your pic) is a zerg…
Edit : On another note, got any blueprints you’d like to drop for us in that camp?
I’d just like to point out that whoever the Devona’s Rest thief was that STOLE A GOLEM BLUEPRINT outside of FC’s tower in front of your spawn just now is an absolute jerk. Seriously? Stealing BLUEPRINTS that people are donating to a commander?
You effectively just stole 1 gold. This is not okay. This is a new low for your server. I’m disgusted by this. As if you would steal items from other players. I don’t like resulting to name-calling, but you’re absolute scum.
Stealing is not okay.
First you guys start placing spies on our server, now you’re stealing blueprints when people are donating them? I wouldn’t be surprised if you start exploiting next. Are you so insecure about your server that you feel the need to result to such things? This is not in the spirit of World vs World. You’re just getting worse and worse as a server.
LMAO! Let me get this straight, you dropped a blueprint on the ground, and someone from DR took the blueprint, which was on the ground, and you’re calling them a thief? LMAO!
If you dropped it on the ground, it sounds like based on what Anet has put into the game, it’s fair game. If it’s not, then Anet shouldn’t make the blueprints droppable (and you really shouldn’t have dropped it outside of the safe area).
I’m sorry, to come to the forums, and whine about your mistake, that’s just hilarious, thanks for the laugh today, I really needed one.
I like these ideas, would give us a way to do something with all the excess rings we get, hehe
It’s only for people to get their achievements, and has no buffs.
Lame…
I agree, should have said that in patch notes.
No matter how you break that down, it’s pay-to-win and Anet won’t do it.
Airwick – please read this quote, and realize, this is your answer, it’s a moot topic, move on.
Yeh I know its debatable why you think I am bringing it up. If I let it drown then I and others that want to fight for this option will go down with it. If you want me to move on then why don’t you give it a go like the comments so far maybe you can change my mind? It is only one of the answers that players want to put out there as well.
I don’t have to change your mind, it’s already been stated by Anet that they will NOT make a “pay to win” situation in this game, and trust me if they do, there will be more of a loss than a gain by doing so. There will be a HUGE exodus on this game, you can count on that.
So, in a nutshell, if you want me to change your mind, here you go…If they implement such a system, it will kill the game you like to play, thus rendering your suggestion moot. Is that simple enough?
+1, love this idea, sadly, it’s been brought up quite often before, and it seems that any good suggestions are falling on deaf ears here…
It seems Anet is more concerned with creating new temporary content then they are fixing or improving the game as it is.
No matter how you break that down, it’s pay-to-win and Anet won’t do it.
Airwick – please read this quote, and realize, this is your answer, it’s a moot topic, move on.
Quaggan? Underwater minigame? Please, no…..I hate underwater as it is, and now a minigame for that?
All joking aside, I don’t care either way, but I wouldn’t participate as I hate underwater fighting, and can’t imagine how bad a game underwater would be.
You’re right, absolutely right, AirWick…it’s a game. Last I checked, games were meant to be played, not bought to be the best.
I don’t understand this lazy mentality of “gamers” who want to buy their way to the top, rather than enjoy the journey there…
This has been suggested before, but I agree, this would be a cool option if you could do this. I have friends I would love to be able to purchase gems for, and as a guild officer, I also have guild mates I would like to send gems to as well.
+1, agreed with everything OP said. Great suggestion!
Currently, there is no system to do anything with the ascended gear you randomly get in Fractals either (can’t blow it up for mats, can’t put 4 into the mystic forge to get a new random one, and can’t sell it as it’s account bound). So why not make a vendor that will let you trade ascended gear in for half it’s value even? For example, trade a ring into the laurels for 15 laurels.
I know it won’t completely solve buying the wrong one, but this would at least get you half way back, and give people who have extra useless ascended gear a way to trade up a bit too.
Either way, this happened to a guildy of mine, and anything to fix the problem would be great!
Funny thing is that for this exact reason, is why I haven’t bought the mining pick. I love the pick, the animation on it is awesome, love the idea of having an endless pick…what I don’t like, is the fact that those of us who play multiple characters get “punished” for doing so. It’s not worth buying a pick for every character I have, but being soulbound, I won’t buy it either, sorry. I’m too much of an alt-a-holic to have it soulbound.
You don’t need to buy more picks when everything you mine can go into collections.
What does it going into collections have to do with multiple characters?
If you’re implying that I should only mine on one character, that just repeats exactly what I’m saying is the problem with the soulbound pick.
Agreed, the added tab is an improvement, but I’m not quite sure why they didn’t just move it to a HUD when doing the guild event. If not everyone in the guild wants to display it, fine, allow the HUD to be turned off with an option, simple.
Many topics already asking for this, and couldn’t agree more. I’d rather some of the devs spend a little more time fixing the problems with the game, such as this, than adding so much new content each month.
Please, give us multiple keys to bind to speech, interacting with environment, rezzing, looting, etc.
Agreed, and along the same lines, fix the guild banks that you can’t stack items at all (even manually), unless you remove them first.
Funny thing is that for this exact reason, is why I haven’t bought the mining pick. Having multiple accounts, I just found the command line switches for -email/-password/-nopatchui, and ran into this. Everything works great in the game when I log in this way, EXCEPT the BLT. I would like to see if there is a fix for this, as this would make logging in/out of a multiple accounts much easier.
Thanks.
Mine got stuck, restarted the client several times, waited over 30 minutes, no luck. Rebooted my computer, ran it with -repair, and after about another half hour, it finally patched and finished.
Good luck, not sure why it gets stuck with this last file, but seems to be happening to a lot of people.
Agreed with both posts here!
This is actually pretty intuitive, and should be incredibly easy to implement. When you tag up…give an option to select a color for the tag (ie, standard blue, red, dark blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, etc). This would greatly reduce commander clutter on the map for pugs, and make it easier to follow the right commander.
There should also be more options for who can see the commander tag. Sometimes my guild wants to run without pugs, but that means not tagging up and missing out on squad chat, which is invaluable since you won’t get suppressed there. To alleviate this problem, several options for displaying the commander tag should be made available:
- Public (everyone can see it)
- Guild (only your guild can see it)
- Squad (only your squad can see it; people have to be invited into the squad). To make this change easier, there should also be changes into how players join a squad. It’s rather unintuitive as it is now (have to actually find the commander—often in the middle of a huge zerg—click them, then right click their name, then click Join Squad). This wouldn’t be a problem if joining their squad from the map actually worked…but it doesn’t. I don’t have a solution for this one, but you guys are smart. You’ll figure it out
I would love to see other size squads as well, for less money, but even with your suggestions, I would love it. I refuse to get a commander tag because of the public icon. If I could set this to private, or even guild, I would probably purchase it right away.
Great suggestion, +1
Weekly position rotations are there to ensure everyone will have a chance to get to any point in wvw, so just keep checking back and you will get your chance.
Positions don’t rotate on the tiers unless there is a significant upset in the battles. Some servers go weeks (and even months) without changing color on the WvW maps.
That being said, my suggestion is to go to Lion’s Arch on your server, post that you want to take location X, and get a group of people together. If it’s a point that a lot of other people are missing, you’d be surprised at how many will show up to help out and get their WvW completion as well.
The good (and bad) thing about WvW, is that taking over a location or two on the map is more about sheer numbers, so even 20-30 inexperienced PvEers should EASILY be able to take a tower, camp or even a keep. Stonemist on the other hand will require a bit more coordination, and even swapping colors won’t help with that point.
Remember, you don’t have to hold the point long, and don’t take too long getting to the point. Have everyone gather on the borderlines, buff, and roll out as stealthy as possible, and hit the proposed target quickly. We’ve done this a few times on our server, and even though we don’t hold it long, we’ve succeeded in getting people their points on the map this way.
No, please no, don’t add dueling in open world. It’s annoying enough when people (in other MMO’s) duel in towns and major capital cities…but to add it to WvW would just add a bunch of people who want to stand around dueling rather than the task at hand (trying to take over the world, Pinky!).
It’s bad enough the people that add to the population doing PvE/Dailies/Jumping Puzzles and the ones who are AFK at the borderlands, but to add this would seriously adjust the number of actual people playing in WvW and negate the outmanned buff.
No thanks, one of the bigger issues I have with GW2 is that too many things are already too automatic and simple, making the overall experience feel shallow and short because nobody needs to pay attention to anything anymore, I don’t want a game that plays itself, which this suggestion will just further contribute to. Simply pressing F without even needing to target the corpse is already simple and fast enough.
I take it you don’t WvW much? Having to loot bags doesn’t add anything to the game (in excitement level, fun, or otherwise), it only detracts from the experience and fun.
Even in PvE, it’s not like looting actually adds any skill or thrill to the game, but in WvW, it most certainly detracts from the battle.
And you’re right, it’s great that all we have to do is simply press F to loot without targeting the corpse…except when there are other things that get in the way (interacting with an NPC, environment interaction, and revive players/NPC’s to name a few).
In PvE, I would be more than happy to see it split out into other keys (a key for looting, another for actions, and another for reviving would most likely suffice). In WvW, it’s just silly having to loot bags, especially when you’re running back to a battle, and they are dropping all over as you run.
They use UTC, and once you understand what UTC is, it makes a lot more sense. Since there are quite a few different time zones (and then factor in DST as well, which some areas use others don’t), and having a Universal Time to reset on makes sense.
I still don’t understand why people complain about the time of the reset, it’s 24 hours no matter how you look at it. If you can’t complete your daily BEFORE the reset, start it AFTER the reset the night before, then if you’re not finished, it shouldn’t take long to finish the next night.
That being said, the dailies shouldn’t take more than 30 to 45 minutes (and if you really push it, you can complete in about 15 on some days). If you can’t devote 30-45 minutes to completing the daily, no change of time for the reset will help.
I like the idea of auto pickup, especially for WvW. As others have said, it would be nice for PvE, but MUCH more necessary for WvW. I’ve said before, that making it auto pickup in WvW would also reduce lag issues, as it would be less things to track for the server as well.
Okay, that’s what I was afraid of (the even level thing), thanks a million.
Ah well, guess it’s back to farming level 10 then, hehe.
Just curious, I ran a FoTM level 11, and didn’t get a Pristine, is this normal? I thought anything above 10 awarded the Pristine Relic.
Thanks for any clarification on this.
Gotta catch ’em all…
The maps are balanced (esp. EB) to give the 1st place team the hardest area to defend…3rd the easiest…
If you rotated…a third place server getting lowlands in EB would be kicked from the tier that week.
This would be good, we would have more movement in the rankings. Besides, once that same server got the red team, based on your assumption that it’s that much harder to defend the green area, they would move back up. At least with this proposal, there is not only the color changes, but hopefully, a little more movement in the leaderboards, and the “best” teams would really have to fight to defend their rankings.
if your on a low teir sever you just switch sever for free and finsh it
I don’t think that server transfers are free for any tier currently. They removed free server transfers awhile back, and offered free transfers TO lower servers for a week to try to promote some population to the lower servers (which I think amounted to 3 servers for NA).
WP is a gold sink.
Charging karma would remove that gold sink. This pretty much. The richer people get, the more TP prices rise.
Agreed, glad to see someone else understands how a “living economy” works.
A sample description :
“Once enabled, the player can invite Groups into a Team via the party UI.
The Captain status is displayed as a yellow shield icon on maps, only visible to those invited into the Team. The Team limit is 20 people, and up to four Groups may join it."
Some explanations :
Currently, there are either Commander based zerg squads, or max 5 man-sized groups.
There is a place I think for medium sized groups, who want to share fun in pve or mcm, in a different way as it is.
In pve, we found it’s really easy to lose coordination with a medium-sized group (6-20 people), and leave people behind, especially in Guild Missions, for example.
It would help also smaller groups in mcm, which want to pack for other tactics than the zerg.
Good idea. And to get the title would require a certain amount of kills in wvw? Or something..
But that way it would actually show the person knows what they are doing, unlike Commander.
Because it’s only visible to those shown in the team, I don’t think this one should require any number kills or pre-reqs other than a gold cost (or maybe a quest and gold). Because this could be used for things other than WvW, it definitely should not be tied to number of kills in WvW.
However, from the outset, the commander tag should have required some status and/or vote in WvW. Sadly, it wasn’t and it’s almost impossible to retrofit that now without alienating several people who already purchased it.
I 100% agree with this suggestion. I would like to see other size parties, as it’s becoming more and more apparent we need larger groups for guild events. Not everyone needs to command a group of 30 people, and several of us would like larger party sizes for our guild only (ie, we don’t want a public icon displayed on the map for others to see, we don’t want to run public events/WvW raids).
I can’t count the number of times in WvW we had 8-10 people, and it would be VERY beneficial to group up this way.
Another suggestion I had made before, was make it a guild thing under politics, that unlocks additional party sizes, but retains the private icon, not a public icon.
Right click your icon that you launch GW2 with, select properties. The path is located in the “target” input box. Everything before “GW2.exe” is the path. Go to that path, and that’s where the file resides.
I would vote for at least 2 slots (food and tool items), or even better yet, a single hot button that when clicked, does a “submenu pop out” showing you all consumables you are carrying.
Although the Guild Bounty system needs a LOT of work, I don’t think this is one of them. Any good guild leader would have pre-read the details on this event, and let everyone know WELL in advance that they NEED to get ALL waypoints in the zones that are possible boss zones. We have a few in our guild that don’t have all their waypoints yet, and they know that they have to hoof it, or miss out.
Since the guild bosses scale based on how many you have there at the boss, as long as you had 5 at the boss, I highly doubt this is the reason you failed the event.
Getting waypoints is not something that needs a guild to accomplish, and with a little time and determination, anyone can do it solo. Having a friend to help out is a BIG help, but not necessary. Grab a buddy for an hour or so each day, and go tag waypoints, even if you skip the other stuff in the zone for now, you can easily recall there and get it later.
They are easy to kill with the proper skill (and you can also hide behind trees to avoid the blast), but they are still very annoying, and not even remotely fun.
Adding insult to injury, try tracking down (or worse, fighting) the Guild Bounty bosses when one of those stupid things is around.
I’ll be so glad when the living story is over, and these stupid things are thing of the past.
The more we have done the guild events, with 8-12 people, the more my guild (and alliance guild) have brought this idea up. I really would like to see party sizes larger than 5 (but not needing a commander title, nor wanting a public icon on the map), even if it means purchasing a title, book, item, etc. to obtain this ability.
Even better, now that I think of it, add the ability into guilds, since this is where it would technically be used:
Politics Level I : Group size can be 5 players, as it is now, but see a leader marker on the map.
Politics Level 2: Increase group size to 7 players.
Politics Level 3: Increase group size to 10 players.
Politics Level 4: Increase group size to 15 players.
Politics Level 5: Increase group size to 20 players.
All of these could be setup to work with guild members only being able to see the leader on the map, so that it’s not the same as a commander tag.
Agreed, and the Guild Bounty Training one should also be only “easy” targets as well.
+1, EXCELLENT suggestion!
Although I agree we need another build queue for all the upgrades/banners/buffs that they have added, I COMPLETELY disagree with needing Architecture 6 + Guild Puzzle Unlock.
It’s bad enough they have kicked small guilds to the curb, but that would be the final nail in the coffin for small/medium sized guilds. We have a guild size of 16 people (with about 6-8 active most days), and there have been plenty of times it would have been nice to have another queue slot…with your suggestion, we would probably never obtain it, and even if we did, by that time I’m sure they’d add a TON more of new guild buffs that would require even more queues.
Good suggestion, just please, don’t require something small and medium sized guilds will probably never obtain.
