Punishment for players that realy care

So we are getting FotM personal levels down to 30. Why? Is there particular reason to punish players for playing fraktals before carrot and stick system?
We were gathering armor, rings, amulets, new ascended weapons, working our kitten off so we will be prepared that some day Anet will finally unlock more content/levels for us.
And we got leveled to “generic population” as reward.

It doesn’t matter what we want. We were asking for fractal update since it was released last year. We played while casual players hated fractals. And now we’re being leveled with the rest of the population of the casual players because they make up bigger population. Whatever we say will be taken lightly. Hard work? Why? I shouldn’t have even bothered leveling multiple toons to level 49… What was the point…

So your saying this game should cater to those that are on holiday break and only want to experience fractals and as such require a purpose to play gw2 daily for more than 2 hours tops? You are aware you can play other things in the game yea? Could the game benefit from some completely not required reward thats cosmetic that simply requires 200 hours of your time therefore having some sort of prestige for those no lifers? sure….but I mean cmon….this change is fine….if you log on to gw2 and expect to be entertained for 4-6 hours a day doing fractals only then regardless of the rewards you are gonna get burnt out quickly.

Wow that post completely went over your head. The person above me said that if you do 3-4 fractals you have no life. On a weekend you can easily get up before 12, do 3 fractals and still go out for the rest of the day and have fun even after you do different things in the game before you go out. That’s really not a #nolife status. Read before you go off on me for no reason…

I know but some people, obviosuly ones with #NOLIFE #FARM4EVA, do several daily, I know one player who does it like 4 or 3 times a day to do all dailies, imagine if people like him had a chance to get unlimited daily chests……

Each fractal run normally takes about an hour and a half on average (higher levels at least). Three or four runs would end up being 4:30- 6:00 hours long. Which is not really a #nolife status during a weekends or a holiday breaks which we will be getting a lot of this time of the year.

But now since it’s an account bound thing, there really is no reason what-so-ever to play fractals more than once per day.

The whole idea of creating a new character is why fractal levels should remain character-bound. Because frankly, there are some characters people just don’t know how to play on and some characters that they’re actually good on.

Not exactly.
Leveling up fractal levels was one of the few things that you could replay with alts.
It also sounds like the boss reward chest is going from daily per char to daily per account.

Oh well the reward chest per account sucks.

Then I was totally wrong with alts, I thought people wouldn’t like to run that many fractals per character, given that if you want to take your Ranger (for example) to a specific fight you don’t have to be penalized by level.

I think account-wide chests is kinda fair. You know how easy it is to exploit it? Just imagine, fractal lvl is distributed across account right? So whenever you get to maw fractal with desired character, you log out, log in with a newly created character that already has lets say lvl 30. He gets lvl 30 rewards, relics and prestines maybe not weapons, then you delete the new char and repeat, unlimited pristines.

You realize fractals take longer than 30 minutes, right?

Why Anet? Why make the rewards level account bound? Why reset it to level 30? I’ve been playing fractals for months, working really kitten getting 2 of my characters to level 49, one to level 50 and another one is still on her way. And what for? I could have been like every other fractal player doing level 28 over and over again. But no, I decided to advance my characters, to keep up the challenge and get them to where they are today. All that seem it was for nothing… I was extremely excited about the new fractal update. To be honest I couldn’t wait for today to get more info on it. All that is lost now…
There will be no reward or anything for being above level 30. No recognition for the hard work we put into it. No recognition for the endless hours spent trying to get past that dredge level or trying to survive another 25% health on Shaman, with little to no reward at the end of it all…
This might be the very first time I was let down this hard by Anet… I mean we felt like we were forgotten for the past year since fractals were first released getting little to no new content compared to PvE, PvP or WvW. But now it’s like you’ve taken it all away and start up from the very beginning. Even though we start at level 30, we been there months back… It’s almost like revamping PvP and making everyone above level 30 start at level 30 again… I wonder how that’d go over with all those hardcore PvP players.
It’s just not fair…
I’ll still play fractals, since it’s the one part of the game that is truly fun and challenging while we wait in between new Living Story updates, but it’ll never be the same

It was by far, the most boring Living Story update to this day. (Not including the dungeon we got after 2 weeks, cuz that was awesome). Practically for two weeks we were running around looking for rocks and fixing signs…

Actually, I got a single fragment after doing the instance with level 38 Guard yesterday. Didn’t occur to me at the time that only 80s are supposed to get them.

Then I went to LA on my level 80 Thief, did Urmaug’s jumping puzzle, and got four fragments for, like, 1/10th the effort. It did seem a little weird.

Read above. And the reason why you get more from JP is that u can only do them once per day per account, unlike instances where you can do them over and over again.

I started getting them around 60.

Characters must be level 80 to receive Empyreal Fragments from chests. Dungeons award fragments regardless of level.

This explains it, since mini instances are in fact mini dungeons.

Achievements
Interesting variety of achievements, but not enough of them. The whole meta can be completed in under 3 hours of playing the content, which keeps the achievement hunters away after they’ve completed their task.

Rewards
Gas Mask was a nice little thing to have. It’s something other than a backpiece. I’m not much of a mini collector, but I have to say, the Mini Toxic Krait is one of my favorite ones of all time

Gameplay
Challenging gameplay although it brings the worst in people when not moving with the zerg. The reason for that is that if you try ressing someone on the way up, there’s 80% chance you will die as well, hence creating an environment in which people run past the corpses. Aside from that, quite fun and challenging.

Story
Barely any of it. We don’t know how it all connected into the whole thing. Why Scarlett did what she did. The story was simply: Tower, Krait, Toxic Alliance, Hybridborn, Hybrid slain, Scarlett Escapes after a cool looking cutscene. And that was it. Nothing was explained, nothing moved forward.

Favorite Element
Instance that’s actually an open world. Awesome!

Lack of actual story…

Atm regular dungeons (which are both WAY easier and WAY shorter than high lvl fractals) give better rewards. :/

….better gold rewards hands down. The Daily reward in Fractals still has the chance to yield much more valuable item rewards.

The only thing I can think of is ascended weapon chest as being valuable. I have a tab full of rings and another tab full of fractal skins… So those are of no value to me anymore…

So we had Molten Alliance, Toxic Alliance and some smaller groups like Aetherblade. But it seems Scarlet likes to manipulate people into alliances.

What do you think will be the next alliance?

I want Karka x Zephyrite Alliance. Lol. And then making some Hybrid. Huge Karka x Human thing that can – despite being that huge – move fast with aspects power. Then a map like Sanctum Sprint with that boss at end where you need to sprint up fast and destroy him before he finishes a ritual that makes him too strong so he could devour the whole world.

On the way up “small” champs will try to knock you down.

It’s getting to the point of becoming Mass Effect 2 where people are being combined into form a massive Reaper, thanks to the Collectors “alliance”, while Cerberus “alliance” is trying to stop us from destroying it because they want the technology for themselves.

I have 3 characters at level 50. And one at 53, since I like my rewards and I really don’t feel like wasting time doing odds just for the sake of the number.

But I like the dredge fractal…

Much better than cliffside or lava.

Dredge fractal is fun, until u hit level 30, then from there on, that fractal is ungodly long with unnecessary amount of adds that are way overpowered…

Ascended armor is made for fractals. Stats make no difference, but the infusion slot allows us, the fractal players to advance.

I’m at level 45 Fractals myself, and I, by no means, support the ascended tier. If there was no stat-difference from exotic, and it was sorely used for completing fractals, then I wouldn’t have a problem with it. It’s not, however.

And that is sadly why there’s so many people complaining. I’d much rather have it at exact same stats as exotics. It would make everything much smoother and nobody would be mad…

Collecting ascended gear is the one part of fractals that isn’t fun. I remember having to wait for amulets and earrings because it was through dailies/guild missions. That was the worst. It’s just a brick wall on your progression, that really doesn’t need to be there.

We have not been getting updates at all. Rings been there since day one…. Fun is getting those 3 extra maps to rotation, ability to progress past the level 50 cap and actually getting some kind of reward system introduced in fractals. All those been promised by the end of this year, so the next update will show if they kept their word.

Has this been said anywhere? I was expecting with Ascended weapons they’d raise the cap to 60 or at least hint it being raised. This is an obvious move to see…….but I’ve learned the obvious in a case like this isn’t always what happens.
I’ve seen nothing said or even hinted at by Anet that they are doing this. If there is some word from them somewhere, I would love to see it…..because as of now, this gear is beyond pointless.

Next update will be an update for fractals judging from the picture. It would really be a waste of time and effort if the cap wouldn’t be raised. It’s just a logical thinking.

Why do you want this?

Again… Ascended equipment in general is used for infusion slots. Infusion slots allow us (fractal players) to put in agony resistance in our stats.
More info on Agony in general.

Now Agony Resistance is needed for progression in fractals. The maximum cap at the moment is 55 Agony Resistance. This allows us to get to level 50. At level 50 at the moment there’s a cap in place where Agony Resistance doesn’t matter because you will die regardless. That cap was put in place for some unknown reason to us all. With additional 6 infusion slots Agony Resistance will be increased to 85 total. With that in mind, the cap on fractals should be removed and progression will be possible (without doing odd level fractals).

The only problem with Ascended Weapons / Armors is that the stats are slightly higher than those of Exotic status. That being said, makes thus equipment more desirable for everyone that wants to increase their stats, rather than just those that do fractals.

Aside from regular Agony Resistance infusion, the slots can be used for other infusions such as +5 power, +5 vitality, etc. That slight rise in stats along with another slight rise from ascended equipment make it desirable for many elite players basically trying to max out their class output. Aside from that infusion slots can be used for non-combat stats boost infusions such as +20% Magic Find or +20% Gold from monsters. Those infusions make it quite desirable for farmers.

Any way you looking at it, make the ascended armor desirable for anyone looking forward personal increase of stats or gold. But more than anyone, fractal players.

Every single party in the game been getting content for their way of playing. PvP with new maps and matching systems, WvW with new map coming out and constant additions such as map rewamping, wvw seasons, rewards, uprgading, leveling system. And most of all PvE players with new content coming out with every 2 weeks, along with dungeon rewarding, champion farming etc. Us, the fractals players been practically playing fractals since it came out a year ago, and since then it was practically untouhced. Reward system is purely based on RNG as it was since day one. The profitability from fractals is close to none compared to all other ways of making gold. And we had the same exact 9 maps since the fractals first came out.

It is our turn to have some fun.

Whats the point of the additional infusion slots beyond what we already have? Are they raising the bar and removing the barrier for level50+?
Jade Maws agony at 50+ is insta-kill regardless of agony resist…so unless they remove this barrier, it makes Ascended armor even more pointless.

That’s the whole idea. The cap will be removed.

Ascended armor is not about PvP, PvE or WvW. If that’s what you think it’s for then yes, it’s not for you at all.

Ascended armor is made for fractals. Stats make no difference, but the infusion slot allows us, the fractal players to advance.

Regardless on what you think of ascended weapons or armors, it’s is purely made with fractals in mind.

In my opinion they should keep the stats the same as the exotics, so people would stop complaining…

Also, we know the origins of steam creatures. One user on the wiki was just making an edit war claiming that those in Lornar’s Pass may hold a different origin than those in the personal story where it is stated the Grand Sovereign invented them.

Still doesn’t explain the origins. And one person’s speculation doesn’t make it true.

Excuse me, but how does that not explain the origins?

The Grand High Sovereign – the future version of the asura player character – made the Steam creatures. This is fact and is their origins.

And who’s speculating here? This comes straight from the horse’s mouth so I’m certainly not speculating.

Is there any way to get the “A Royal Tradition” achievement at this time?

No there isn’t. It’s a time based achievement you can only get around Halloween.

I just got back from travel/work deployment, and am just now catching up. In fact, I am all caught up except for this one silly achievement.

Why would such a meta rely on one teensy, weensy little achievement with no “last hurrah” availability?

Oh wait, it seems my “Lunatic Regular” achievement (that I just achieved) got reset? What?

As to the rest of it, you don’t need to get it at all. Lunatic Regular was added later on as a resetting achievement you can just do over and over.
Anet implemented a new system where not only you do your meta achievements, but they also include “extra” ones in your daily achievements. So what you can do is look in your daily pannel and look for an achievement with Halloween Shaped Door Icon and that one counts towards your meta achievement progression.
Halloween is going away tomorrow with the introduction of the new Living Story update, so you can still do the daily one today and right after reset tonight to get those 2 extra points (unsure how many you still need to complete the meta since you haven’t put that info out).

All that stuff should be shown in “Combat Messages”, not “Game Messages”. I just turned off the “Game Messages” option yesterday… It truly makes me really sad that I was forced to do that. But the Skill Recharging and Not Enough Energy messages just… They almost made me hate the game… Anet for once didn’t deliver… I’m highly disappointed…

The bombs is rarely any worry at 48 if people know what they’re doing. Stealth just trivializes it, otherwise you have somebody draw aggro/CC while someone slips by and reflects/sanctuary are used.

You can solo it as a shortbow thief. I do it all the time.

Dredge fractal takes ~20 minutes at lvl48, which isn’t really that unreasonable

1st boss fight alone takes 15-20 minutes, so not sure what witchcraft you’re using…

Please do something with fractals. Anything really. Wvw, PvE, Dungeons, even PvP been getting more attention in the past year than fractals. Which is close to none.
At this point I’m not even asking for new maps that been promised to us by the end of the year. Please take your time with those. I’d much rather have them done right than rushed. But the fractals overall is slowly loosing any kind of appeal to me and many others.
I personally have three characters in upper 40s and another one working her way up as time goes on, but I’m slowly getting turned off by the whole fractals aspect. It’s not profitable at all, the fun factor is slowly diminishing, and “rewards” are not appealing anymore.
I’ve got a tab full of ascended infused rings (selling regular ascended to merchant, and all 8 of my characters have full set of infused ones), another tab is almost filled up with fractal skins, which at this point when I get another one is like “meh”.
Don’t get me wrong. Fractals are still challenging each and every time I play with my friends and guildies and that’s the whole aspect of having fun in there. But what we get for playing in terms of rewards is nothing compared to regular dungeon runners and champ farmers.
And please. Do something, anything about the dredge level… It’s just ungodly long for no reason…

In upper 40s, if we get dredge after swamps, we just restart swamps cuz it’s faster to do swamp and ANY other level then dredge level alone. My thief can solo the bomb side easily, but the amount of trash mobs is just plain overdone. Especially on 40s where dredge spawn from inside of the “car” takes roughly 15-20 minutes on average to clear the bar after the boss is killed. It’s ridiculous…

After the response from Josh Davis we were told: “forwarded this issue to the team earlier this morning.” That was on October 16, which was more than 22 days and about 4-5 updates ago.
I would just like to ask about the status of the issue. Was it deemed to be a non-issue after all? Is the fix coming? Is it not coming?
The fact is that the message was never part of “Game Messages” section before the Blood and Madness update, and now it takes over my entire chat while I’m playing.
So far I’ve been leaving it on with hope for fix because frankly I like when it shows me what I picked up, when friends go offline and online. I’d be extremely dissapointed if I had to turn it off if it’s in fact an non-issue.
Can we get any kind of an update on it?

There are people that work towards legendaries and people that aren’t. If we didn’t play, we wouldn’t complain about the nerf. 1,000,000 karma is on “ok” number to have after buying only 3 sets. Many people also craft ascended items that require karma as well. The point is that if you’re not complaining about having 1,000,000 karma as too much, then just keep on playing. I could easily give you a list of things you can buy with your karma even if you’re not working towards a legendary nor bothering with crafting ascended items.
The point is if you were a new player that just started and barely got to 80, with the amount of karma you get these days you wouldn’t be able to afford the karma set like you used to anymore to get your 80 started.

Yes. I’m glad we’re on the same page. I never understood why people were complaining about having too much of something, especially since it doesn’t take any space at all. Unlke bloodstone dust, but we shoudln’t get into that.
The point is that karma was always useful for many side things just as me and you both mentioned. I was trying to show the point from general public that wasn’t aware of many merchants around Tyria selling many useful and fun things to play with.
Nerfing Karma was “naive” and quite uncalled for. And the whole plead of this post is simply:
Please Bring It Back.

The point is, just like you said, we didn’t want Karma to be harder to obtain, all we wanted was Karma to be used for more things. But it is hurting new players and it sucks to be new at this point. Even though making gold is soooo much easier these days…

It was useless because of vast amount of it we had after we spent it on exotic gears and such. That’s why the Orian boxes were introduced.

You could use the karma to buy 4 items and mystic forge it for a sellable item. Hell, you could get plenty of rares doing this. This was before they added the Boxes.

That was fixed months ago. If I’d have to shoot for date it’d be like 7-8 months back. Ever since then you couldn’t put Karma armor/weapons into the Mystic Forge to make a sell-able item. And since they took that away, you couldn’t use your Karma as you used to, hence the introduction of Orrian Boxes. You used to be able to salvage Karma items as well, and that was fixed even before MF fix.
The point is that people wanted to use Karma for something more than looks and spending it all on Orrian Boxes hoping to make a quick buck out of it. Now they finally gave it more purpose. Before introducing ascended armor you had following choices (after all the fixes):
-buy food items for crafting
-buy food to eat
-accessories/weapons/armor that you couldn’t do anything with after you were done using them
-Obsidian Shards that were used purely in crafting your legendaries
-some fun items here and there such as color changing, invisibility cloak etc.

I’d still like Karma to be used for something else as well, but at this point I really wouldn’t want them to be used for anything more, because it is much harder to obtain than what it used to be,
