Wouldn’t that make them account bound permanently? You can sell an item that hasn’t been soulbounded, but upon equipping it becomes soulbound. I’ve yet to see an item that upon equipping becomes account bound, so I wonder how they’ll go about that.

From what we heard so far, ascended weapons will most likely be accound bound making you work for your gear rather than drop some gold on it. The crafting procedure will also use T7 materials that have to be obtained in many various ways and will also be account bound. Playing PvE from time to time won’t kill ya

If you put in 4 rifles, you will only get a rifle back.

If you put in 3 rifles and another type of weapon, eg a greatsword, you could get any type of weapon in return.

Same goes if you put in 3 rifles and a mystic forge stone. Your return will still be random but you’ll have a higher chance at other named exotics (which includes precursors).

Wait what? You can combine 3 exotics and mystic forge stone??? To what result? Does it work with rares too?

Dear Anet. This is just a small plead to make Magister Sieran Mini. We’ve gotten many minis over the past year, including the Minis 3-Pack Set 2 that includes characters like Zojja, but one mini in particular I was always waiting for and that would be Sieran herself. The character captured hearts of many players thoughout Tyria and even though those hearts were broken because of what happened, I’d still love to have her as my little sidekick throughout my adventures. I know some people would also love to see Tybalt and Forgal. So please think about it. Thank you for your consideration.

Look at the site, for full recipes. But most of the clues were added gift recipes such as gift of metal or gift of wood. Then others were figured out by putting in different materials in the forge.

well if they are made using T6 then people will just wallet them like always, besides ANet won’t make something so radical that peope won’t be able to just wallet it because it is their business after all; and they’ve always done it.

But ascended gear will use T7 materials that you can’t just wallet out. They confirmed it. They’ll drop from champions and will be account bound or some sort of daily acquisition just like Charged Quartz Crystal where you can only create one a day and it is account bound.

Well… Yeah. They’re not gonna make is so you can use T1 or T2 mats. And T7 mats are guaranteed that you’ll have to legitimately work for them rather than pour gold out of your wallet. I’m sure they’ll add dungeons to the mix as well… Technically speaking even though precursors are in fact exotics, they’ll be a lot harder to craft than the ascended items.

I really hope for the sake of their prestige as designers they don’t use T6 or Ectos for precursors… it would be a really low blow for their intelligence.

They specified it’ll use a whole new set of Tier 7 materials that are account bound like the crystals from last patch. They’ll also drop from champion bags and such. We’ll have to wait and see

All we know is that it MIGHT come out within the next 4 months. They hinted at the same thing in back in January. And how it would take place in the first half of this year. So, be excited, but don’t hold your breath. They said that they will do their best to accomplish this before the end of this year, so if that’s all they can promise us, then that’s all we can take. But again it was NOT said that WILL 100% come out by the end of this year. At this point I’m glad they’re even thinking about it…

do you guys understand that you can craft a skill from mesmer ?
its like you can craft a skill from necromancer, for example an item that can fear
or i dont know an item that spawn a turret or something
its a very powerful item in my point of view so i can understand the price to make it

Define how powerful you think this item is. With no usage in WvW or PvP, the item at this price has no practical use in PvE. Item that creates fear is worth few copper, and turrets you can buy for mare karma. If in fact this was some kind of an Elite skill item like summoning a giant robot or creating a Time Warp, then yes, I’d understand why this is a powerful item. But Portal? A one time use Portal? And for 2g at that? Powerful is not the word I’d use. Practical in puzzles and such, yes, but at this price it looses even this title.

They aren’t temporary items, the Sprockets are listed in the bank with the permanent crafting materials rather than the festive ones.

But they are “temporary” since you have a limited time to actually obtain them in the game before they only be come available in Trading Post. By temporary I mean they are festive items such as candy corn or snowflakes. All those item are still available in Trading Post, but there is no other way to get them in the outside world. Once pavilion closes, they become those items as well, even though they have them under regular crafting materials. There is a potential of the area becoming permanent, since they really put their heart and soul into that one. In that case it would make sense to have it under regular collectibles. For now, everything is up in the air.

Any recipe that uses Lodestones should not be used for temporary items, what was Anet thinking? This is not the way to improve crafting.

The thing is that devs:

a) do not read this forum section at all it seem, especially since the last post form the dev was back in what? February?

b) there’s really nothing we can expect from them till we get the patch that gives us the ability to craft to 500. That is if we see it happen by the end of this year.

The bottom line is that the recipes that keep coming out now, all include materials that are VERY scarce and VERY expensive along with some common materials that they “try” to raise the economy of. So the expectations now show that getting from 400-500 will not only have us use the mentioned Tier 7 materials that are account bound (which is in my opinion a great idea), but we’ll also be required to use tons and tons of Lodestones. It seem that Anet is thinking that those lodestones drop like crazy. Lets take Charged Lodestone for example. THE MOST EXPENSIVE crafting material in the game. On average 2.5g per one of those. And they made a recipe that uses it to create two items of “one time use skill” that is not something we cannot do without that item.
Just like I said above, I’m better off paying 1 gold to some random mesmer on the map that will port me and my party members where I want him/her to, rather than paying about 4 golds for two ports that I myself have to get where I want that port to show… Completely useless…

It would be much easier if they restricted its use in WvW or sPvP. Then it wouldn’t be considered so powerful. Cuz there really isn’t any practical uses for it in matter of PvE anymore considering the cost of the “one time use”. You’re better off bringing a friend Mesmer or making a Mesmer yourself.

You can’t guarantee that you will get any random item. I’m just telling you how to actually have a reasonable chance at getting one.

Take the tips or don’t, but don’t complain about random being random if you aren’t willing to help your odds.

And that is exactly the problem. They should not be random. They should be challenging to get, not luck-based. If I increase my odds and still do not get one after three years, what good did that do me?

The new crafting system is supposed to let you make your own precursor. It’s just a waiting game now… Wish they’d tell us what it takes to make one so we could start stacking up right now…

This is a completely useless recipe… 5 Orichalcum Ingot and 2 Master Tuning Crystal are relatively easy to obtain at the current state. *BUT*Charged Lodestone itself is on average 2.5g which makes it the most expensive lodestone in the game… And 250 Watchwork Sprocket are a) temporary items that can only be obtained through the course of two to four weeks and b) they go roughly for 1s each at the moment, making it another 2.5g you’d have to spend on it. Lately all the recipes they’ve been putting out are kind of useless and very HIGH in demand on lodestones and T6 crafting materials…

Fractal Relics (the regular ones) have been removed from Mystic Forge recipes. Those recipes now use Piles of Crystalline Dust instead.

With regards to dungeon tokens and crafting: You can buy Offerings from the vendors that sell you the dungeon armors and then use them in the crafting recipes.

because everyone is free to make posts and attempt to help each other. Just don’t have some unreasonable expectation that it will be a dev that answers your questions. It’s not their job.

There are some questions in this forum that no player can answer. Thus they are directly addressed towards the devs.
It is NOT unreasonable expectation. Devs are helping out and answering questions on literally every other forum subsection except for this one, thus the whole idea of this topic.
It’s not about whining that devs aren’ answering my question or the OP’s question. It’s more of a lack of any kind of activity on this sub forum section over all. Last dev’s post on here was back in February… Yet sPvP for example have devs daily.

Huh? Players with valid questions regarding crafting don’t want to “feel good”, they want their question(s) answered!

Wanting and needing questions answers are two different things and I don’t see questions posted here that devs need to answer. Wanting questions answered when they don’t need to be answered by devs IS about making players feel good. Let’s be honest about the motives here. You even imply feeling unimportant by the lack of dev interaction in the original post.

Again, what value does devs answering questions on forums have other than making players feel warm and fuzzy? Is that more value as opposed to them doing what they are paid to?

Then with that in mind, why answer ANY question on ANY board? I mean it’s all about making players “feel warm and fuzzy” according to you. Why ask questions? Why answer them? Quastions are there to be questioned, not answered, right? I don’t see any questions on sPvP board that “need” to be answered at all. But does it mean they shouldn’t be answered because I personally don’t feel like they “need” to be answered? According to you, yes they shouldn’t be answered because I do not care about sPvP, right? Then questions regarding crafting don’t “need” to be answered by devs because You don’t feel like they “need” to be answered. Then let me ask you this. “Communication.” You should wiki that.

Players communicate what they way, developers work it out. There is little reason for them to have to take the time to communicate back. Not when crafting is such a straightforward process.

Buttercup.5871 – What do you want them to say? It was obvious to me that they felt said craft (your example) required so many mats as it was a convenience item to have it last twice as long. Do you want a lot of fluff as to why they think those numbers were proper? Do you want the token “we’ll look into it”?

Lastly: Bosses, that we players tend to think we are, have a saying “less talking, more doing”. We, the boss, told them, they go do. Repeat.

This whole thread is pretty much based on the fact that there is a lot of cool and innovative ideas aside from all the precursor ranting. And no dev has been active in this part of the forum at all. It’s not about them responding to every dumb question like “how many mats do i need to make this”. it’s not about that and we all pretty much know it. The idea is to acknowledge that they’re even reading this part of the forum, because it frankly feels VERY abandoned. For all we know, we just trow the ideas against the wall.
If you’d actually READ the post rather than jumping on the last comment, you’d know what we’re talking about here. Otherwise, go and “tell off” people somewhere else.

so yeah i just dumped 700g into the MF hoping to get at least 1 … i know this was stupid as i could have just bought one but i was curious to see how bad my luck really was.. and totally found out cause i got NOTHING… lots of exotics but n the end.. got jack kitten.. this crap makes me want to just quit the game and try something else

Those are the kind of posts that make no sense AT ALL. You have 700G and want a precursor. “Let me buy a bunch of exotics and throw them in the forge…” I call BS on that. You could’ve bought a precursor and still have gold leftover. And now THAT makes you want to quit the game… Seriously people. Use some realistic number for once.

Another:

I just dumped 2k+ rares and 500+ exotics into the Mystic Forge TODAY, and got…. nothing.

2k rares… Lets assume they’re 20 silvers each. That’s 400 Gold.
500 Exotics… Even though they’re higher, lets assume they’re 2g each. That’s 1000 Gold.
Total of 1400 Gold… You know what you can buy with 1400 Gold? A LEGENDARY.

You know what? I just threw in 500 rares last night and got nothing too (I threw in 40, but 500 makes me look more credible). I’m so enraged I’m gonna quit this game…

What would you guys think of making personal minis. As in mini YOU. Having a little you running after yourself. The mini itself would have to be a “blank” mini that would adjust according to what character you’re on and what you’re wearing/weilding. It would be nice if we could make our own selves and send it to our friends, but the “blank” mini idea would be more idealistic ocnsidering the amount of different minis one would get from friends. And “blanks” wouldn’t take up too much space and wouldn’t affect the collector’s title. I would definetly pay some gems for one =D

Do you mind specifying what kind of weapons did you use? What rariry, stats? Were they crafted, bought out on TP? Everyone is always like “hey got dawn and I only spent so and so”, but what did you put in? In which order? Which ones did you pair?

I just put random rares and one time try exo (got zap)

Interesting. More and more sources indicate that crafted weapons have much lower success rate than random exotic and rare drops.

Why ppl still think 1000 rares are much? If you throw in 1000 rares and get a precursor, than you are a very lucky guy. Chances are around 2600 rares into the forge (on average!)

Because if we take the average 20s per rare (Not counting Gs or Staff that are in upper 30s on average), 1000 rares would be 200g. Not a lot of people have that laying around especially after making all the gifts. with 2600 rares would be around 520g which is (on average) way more than most of the precursors (again, not counting Gs and Staffs). And still speaking from experience, 2600 does not guarantee the precursor. And just like u said if you throw in 1000 of them in and get a pre, you’re lucky. But we keep seeing more and more often people throwing in 1000 and getting 3-4 of them, which suggesting that RNG being “Actual” RNG would be UNIMAGINABLE luck. That’s why people are complaining because more and more data shows that some accounts have just way more luck than other accounts. And we’re not talking about an exotic here and there, but constant flow of them.

Wow, this would suck… Imagine: "We came up with a system that helps you beat that RNG based precursor drop with a new updated system of RNG based drop materials that when you put tons of them together you’ll make a “definite” precursor!"
Because as far as I’ve read it’ll use crafting professions in levels between 400-500 that will use account bound based crafting materials like Charged Quartz Crystals.

BUT “We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but …”
This line alone pretty much says:
“Yeah it won’t be complete anytime soon guys, so keep holding your breath, but…”
I’m betting late December, maybe 1st Quarter of 2014.
Since they did mention that in Januray’s next 6th months project and nothing been done, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for this year really…

So considering the earlier announcements about voting system and how our votes will give us either Reactor or Abbadon fractal along with Aetherblade and Molten level, I am taking it as not having ANYTHING new added to fractals before these levels are released much later this year. Or can we expect them to roll out the mentioned much earlier fractal reward system sooner than the said levels are complete? I’ve been dying for new fractal content for months now, and as I see it, there’s nothing to look forward to in near future.

I believe some accounts are flagged with perma DR and some have passive magic find.

We are, in a way. If you look in Dev Tracker section, you’ll notice they’re mostly active in resolving people’s serious bug issues, but also take their time in very simple issues like “I didn’t get my chest today”, when answer is “because you opened one already today”. They also take incredible amount of time answering sPVP oriented questions and complains.

The visual effects are not in any way worth the expense and time invested.

That is your opinion. With limited amount of weapons in the game, most of us strive for the coolest looking one. It gives us a goal.

It’s been my experience that devs aren’t really active on the forums. Of the games I’ve played, Anet ones are on the higher end of activity. I would rather have them making stuff than making replys on the forums anyways.

But wouldn’t you better have them making stuff that we the gamers want? Thus the forum is more than information window for them, It’s a constant flow of innovative ideas and pleads from their customers.
I know what you’re coming from, but I’d much rather have them work on something I care about than something that’s no interest to me.
And since the crafters been having quite a hard time in the game lately, Especially when it comes to the certain types of weapons, it would be a good idea for devs to just hop in here once in a while answering some questions and suggestions.
At this point I really don’t expect them to do anything about precursors till like another year or two from now, BUT there are still many good and valid topics about other things in this section, just like Buttercup.5871 mentioned.

But regardless, you’re right about them omitting all other posts just because of that. I personally wouldn’t mind them hop on here once in a while just to talk about other crafting areas that do not involve legendaries.

I expect the “fun and innovative” so-called scavenger hunt will actually be a new Mystic Forge recipe requiring a Charged Star (needs 1.000 Charged Lodestones), Dungeon Stars (requires 1.000 tokens from a given dungeon), Ectoplasm Stars (requires 1.000 ectos) and a corrupted weapon. The “scavenging” will be grinding for those materials and tokens in order to craft the precursor.

As sad as it is, this would STILL be a better system than what we have now. We could at least see how much closer we’re getting to acquiring thus precursor.

RNG is being RNG. That’s all understood and all, but when we have people here saying they found 3+ precursors you HAVE to question how the whole RNG thing works. Is it affected by something they’re doing? Is it affected by something they’re using or having in their inventory. Because at 3+ precursors it is not considered LUCK anymore. LUCK is finding one precursor. Finding 2 would be considered something unimaginable, that is if RNG was being RNG. So you have to agree why we’re questioning the whole RNG idea when it comes to precursor. Me, as many people here, have had all their gifts crafted just so we can “show it off” sitting in my bank.

I also love how back when they first introduced the concept they said: “Legendary Weapons are the end result of an epic adventure in Guild Wars 2. You’ll travel all over, collecting items and amassing materials to build your Legendary Weapon.” They forgot to mention that you also have to either
a) Farm till you’re completely burned out or
b) Have luck that 99% of people do not have.
