Engie is better condi wise, Ele power wise. Melee Ele is superior better. Even rifle with jump shot & co don’t make engie a decent melee profession. Sure bombs and nades work, but again, here is where ele shines with cool (and strong) combo’s. Complete freedom with kits (not cooldown, swith on the fly) is what makes engie a little more interesting in their own way. But Ele has better utilities then engie (theirs kinda suck apart from kits and elixirs, most aren’t worth it), well and Rocket boots, that one is amazing i give it to you, but ele’s have similar skills on their weapon bar already.

For elites i gotta give ele more credit. Supply crates is nice if you want to enforce a victory in a dual, but otherwise is kinda a let down. Fiery greatsword, tornado, and even the Elemental summon are more fun and usefull in their own way.

Stability is a lot better on Ele. Stability in wvw is very important and with engie it means non stop moving at the edge of the zerg with 1500 range grenades or die in the stunlock train. Ele has better escapes from this. Like lightning flash, armor of earth etc.

Combo finishers Ele is better (especially projectile ones they own more), combo fields they are equal, (perhaps a slight edge to engie for smoke field and poison field, but ele has Ice field wich is very underrated).

Underwater Engineer is the king. Nothing comes close. Having come back lately to my ele rather then engie, if you play it to it’s limits, Trident ele (underwater), has it’s use. But engie is better.

Condition removal is a tie, maybe better on ele cause of Ether renewal. Engie mostly gotta trait for serious (more then 1 or 2) condition removal, and that’s important in pvp and wvw.

agreed. especially with underwater part… fighting a engi underwater is RIDICULOUS. Only Ranger and Mesmer come even close

Have you ever tried fighting DS-specced Power Necromancer underwater? This thing can take 3v1 including Rangers and still win.

Is Power Necro Good Still?

Sure, it is.
But going zerker/cav/valk is just not as good anymore since Ferocity is kind of wasted stat.
Personally, I run couple knights, soldiers and some remaining zerk parts, but both 4/4/0/0/6 and 6/2/0/0/6 are still solid.

Are you talking about spvp? I dont feel that i lost much damage when i go for valk/zerker in spvp.

In pve/wvw this however may be true.

WvW solo roaming, forgot to mention

It’s only a shame that my build with Barbarian amu was nerfed, as I predicted months ago and is not viable for me in PvP.

Female characters look way better

Dunno. I play Charrs mostly (The Master Race), I like both genders for that specific case.

But @OP – I think Norn females have the advantage in here when it comes to medium armors especially.

As it stands for Plant people – they look the same and I can’t imagine someone rolling one for starring on salad’s bumper.

As for Humans – It’s hard to create a male who doesn’t look like a teenager. GW1 didn’t have that problem. Maybe because of anime-like design I just don’t like being something in between female and male.
Female is obvious – Front bumpy bumpers, rear bumper, most “sexy” armors avalible. I don’t find pixels sexy though and prefer real life shapes, but can’t speak for others. Typical MMO choice.

Predator’s Instinct is a wasted slot. No cripple will last for full 10-10+x seconds on a target that’s not a mob or dumb. If it did, then you would win anyway.

To make it viable, Predator’s should’ve been 3 second cripple on 10 second cooldown either triggering when foe is closer than certain range or below 75%.

It’s like a mixture of Necromancer and Guardian, somehow.

While I kind of like that condition+boon conception (although it would be incredibly OP) I totally hate on any bars filling which inrease your passive mode. We have enough of that.

I like playing with resources, it adds depth to the gameplay in all cases (well, unless it’s a typical mana) and opens many trait&counterplay options.

The problem is, GW2 already have most of the general professions’ points included from GW1.

Engineer, in my view is a modern, not really good, but replacement for Ritualist. Turrets are meant to be spirits, kits to be bundles.

Guardian is a shiny example. It’s very oriented around boons, which are simplified version of Enchantments and it’s shared with Dervish Meditations. Many skills are also stolen from Monk, some from Paragon. So they actually included 3 in 1.

Now, there are couple options. I won’t say the name or the concept, but a mixture of some control/resource stealing/Backfire-like Mesmer, Heavy class with some aspects of Paragon, powerful skillshot skills like a variation of RoJ from GW1, and focused on support by absorption/reversing damage profession would be something new and cool.

Engineer is just safer. You always have something because of tons of skills, most of the time you just rotate around kits and deal a lot of damage with passive procs. There’s nothing really that “skillful” about engineer (at least condibunker 99% run), remembering how you can use your combo fields doesn’t make it harder since it’s wide around all professions, it’s just engi that have an access to many fields and finishers on condition setup.

General thoughts from me:

-Healing Necro isn’t really a PvP thing. It’s way better on WvW or in PvE encounters
-“Bunker” ability of Necro is a simple facetank. It means that you’re very vunerable to focused direct damage and 2 players like Thief and Mesmer will down you without a lube.
-You’re popping all wells under your feet at once. Don’t
-You lack Condition removal, as I pointed
-Don’t take wells just for Ritual of Protection. It’s an adept trait, Protection isn’t really that awesome since it’s a single boon. Wells are very good utilities but they’re short and have long cooldowns. Use them in more adequate situations, suited for utility. Protection, if you like it, is just a bonus.

First move could be reducing the cast of Flesh Wurm to 1/2 seconds and making it an essential teleport, similar to Mesmer’s Portal, just personal and one-way. This way we could quickly teleport to the close point.
Wurm could’ve been destroyed easily. And it attracts more people to Minion CDR, giving a worthy alternative for Staff CDR and couple others.

Regarding Life Siphons – They’re weak. Most of them are balanced around “perfect conditions” when you can constantly get a proc from 5 targets, so in less ideal situations, they simply suck balls.

Siphons don’t heal you while you’re in Death Shroud. In fact, you are not affected by any heal in that state, unless you trait heavily into Death Magic (6) for new GM trait which grants you very very average regeneration in DS.

Siphons are always of the same value. They don’t crit and they proc without ICD (at least Necro trait ones). They work on structures, though, and bypass many “Invus”, damaging for those little numbers.

Currently, there’s no real viable Siphoning oriented spec in the game, only one that comes to my mind is Siphon from minions’ hits “Vampiric Master”, viable if you have many minions under control. Stand-alone siphoning is just a try-hard relict of GW1 Blood Magic.

I would actually perfer something like this under 6 “the healing” skill.

Clamor of Souls 20 second CD, unaffected by PoM trait
Channel your Life Force, converting X% of your Life Force every second to health, healing yourself and your allies around for (part of LF%+Healing Power) value.

Easily interruptable since it’s channeled. We could associate some Powermancer Spite adept trait with it, like “Every second of Clamor of Souls increases the damage of next two following attacks by X%”.
It’s also a major support and a very good sink for accumulated, unused LF.

The main problem with Necro is still the “attrition” and survivability under focus fire. If you’re targeted by some quick bursters like S/P Thief and his friends, you’re very survival depends on your allies.

We don’t have that insane mobility also and from what we’ve seen, the team with most mobility won the tourny.

If we had, let’s say, ability similar to Protective Spirit from GW1 or Shelter (on minion?), damage revert, more teleports and actual attrition/siphoning we would be top tier.

Now our builds work, but they suffer from the slow reconstruction of old Power/Burst meta. We’re very resilient to conditions and that’s why we ruled in condi meta, but very vunerable and defenseless to focused direct damage.

TPvP power LB/GS build with new traits

God, another LongBowMan in Tpvp.

It doesn’t work, sweetie. If it did, people would actually play it, not only running for some lolz.

I really want to play LB power Ranger in some serious pvp too and we got the first step in lastest patch – SotF.
But that’s the first step and long way ahead.

I would rather not like to see more LB Rangers running around in pvp and trying to snipe from afar. 99% of them can’t play it, don’t have required knowledge and high situational awarness, run wrong pets. Condibunk, as it stands, is just a easier, better way for them.
Even if they suck, there are still some spirits buffing the party.

So please, don’t post another LB/GS glass canoons tpvp threads or we will see more Rangers dying rapidly, being useless.

We will be kings, one day. But that day is not today, my son ~ Wise Balance Teneras Words.

Three things:

Take Dagger OH instead of focus. You won’t stand the condition pressure with Putrid and WoP only, without CC. Deathly Swarm will also blind and you get the weakness. You already have Corruption well.

Second, remove 10 or 20 from DM.

In first case, put them to SR and pick up either Stability (very important if you want to bunker and have NtD) or Renewing Blast (if you have enough skill to use that in pvp ;p)

In second case, put 10 points into SR and 10 into Curses for Focused Rituals. That’s almost mandatory if you plan on running anything else than WoB and WoP.

And change Mark of Evasion to Transfusion. You’re not running Soul Marks and already have perma regen from staff #2.
Transfusion on the other hand will heal your allies AoE for more than 6k and if you get knocked out of DS during the cast, it will also affect you

Good Power Necro can acutally duel good hambow and win without Lich or wellbombing. It’s a matter of positioning, wise usage of your cooldowns, surviving Zerker stance.
Now, when Lyssa got nerfed it’s even easier.

Hambow isn’t really creative set, your opponent won’t surprise you. Even “best” ones tend to just channel all hammer skills from left to right and use combustive right after.
On the other side, you can surprise and outplay him.

First, list your build if you want an advice instead of QQ.

Then, I can tell that 20/20/0/0/30 still works pretty decently with my tpvp build and running A/D+D/Wh, yet to meet a hambow who would impress me.

After you learn the “stunoob rotation” you can laugh at 90% of them and whoop their kitten .

Well of Power, Flesh Wurm, Spectral Armor, Warhorn. These are keys to open every warrior’s kitten.

It’s not passive, it’s active damage. Same passive damage is Combustion Shot, Hammer Auto, Fan of Fire.

If you know that he runs Nightmare Runes and Reaper’s Protection, just pop stability, follow by hammer #4 to proc both (or hit him one more time again if nightmare didn’t proc already) and follow it up with berserker stance if you know that it’ll be likely Corrupted. And don’t run into Spectral Walls.

Buff Searing Effigy CoF P1 Boss “Burning Attack” somehow, since it’s very telegraphed and could have some extra effect like freezing the player in shard, which would be greater than others and require the “sharded” player to be taken into downstate for effect to disappear, buff it’s regeneration from crystals so we actually have to lay with the mechanic and maybe constantly spreading low, sustained AoE from the crystals?

There’s that problem indeed.
If you want support, why would you bring anything bout guardian? And if it’s not enough, bring another gaurd ?

You see, if you want a DPS you have many options and builds. It can be Ele, Ranger, Warrior, Guardian, Thief, anything.

But if you want support or bunker…. Guardian. Anything else? Naah, because who has boons, healing, perma protection, best Stability and cleanses. No other profession can bring that much. It’s not balanced at all.

^There’s absolutely no cap on Boar’s dropped items. Bone and rock are fully affected by the new Paralyzation sigils also.
If you could extend Fear duration past 200% it would be longer.

As I said, I’m not quite sure if personal Necro’s fear duration affects spreaded fear, adding duration (but as far as I remember it doesn’t) but it spreads the full duration of all conditions with Epidemic.

Fun thing is, if you have couple targets you can spread the same fear couple times off different targets, getting some seriously long perma-fears. Just bring two-three necros with Master of Corruption.

Me and my guildie were trolling people in WvW like that, keeping them CC’d forever. I believe the thread I made it couple months ago after this discovery is still there, somewhere on forums.

The condition duration is capped at 100%, I don’t think hard-CC duration is, so if you are able to extend your hard-CC duration, then yea over 200% XD

I enjoyed trolling with boar/warthog too, but that RNG and having to pick up items. I also find that if you move around while F2ing, it interrupts your pet and they won’t drop the item (not sure if that still happens after patch). I find Nightmare Runes a little more reliable as it usually procs during the first few hits, but the cooldown is quite long, the fear is only single target and it doesn’t last as long.

I mean, Condition duration for fear which involves MoC (does stack) and condi duration. I have never really tested Runes of the Necromancer though which increase your fear duration by 20% and could maybe go over the cap, since it’s applied for one condition only.

I’ve been constantly trolling people with 30/30/x build couple months ago on WvW and in PvP duelling.
Just make sure they use stun break on one of your “low” CCs like Hilt Bash or Concussive, then you can really go wild with other CCs plus foraged items, Boars’ KD (3 sec, but requires close range and some slow probably), Technobabble, Wolf.
People even report you for cheating.

Yes it does.

Forage’d Boar items don’t have any cap on CC also and one of them is 4.5 second fear which you can extend by 200% and is spreadable by Necromancer, proccing Terror.

One thing to note:

There’s no real end-game or challanging content in the game currently, comparable to DoA, FoW or such. There are fractals, but it’s mostly about dps and dodging, since mobs hit too hard and don’t have many mechanics. Oh, there are no important “interrupts” also.
