Maybe not forum app, but game chat app – like Guild chat and friends list could make a good app.
Blizzard has this for like 3 or so years now and even charges for it. People still use it tho
I’m all, strongly for the main idea and not for the examples.
It’s just unfair that professions like Mesmer or Engineer utilize more keys and thus have more decision-making and options thatn let’s say Necro, Warrior or Ranger.
Engineer and Thief possibly.
First as perma-swiftness with very little effort, multiple escape tools and is mostly ranged.
Second is most mobile class in game, teleporting all around and attacking while invisible.
You may also want to consider Warrior, you can build it bo be almost anything and survive apocalypse
Just make new maps, same for each BL and EB and rotate them every month, let’s say.
Btw I believe the reson why there’s so little on these maps, they’re basicly flat green/white textures is because of technical requirements. Game is still meh at best optimized and each tree, waterfall or building would further slow down older PCs and make the zerg clashes even more laggy.
I’m all after new maps, more objects, but first optimize the game or eliminate massive zerging.
I’d welcome some utility skills from 6-0 for Death Shroud.
Maybe using Life Force now to activate or something.
Because, honestly, apart from DS power builds, Shroud functions as a health shield and you can’t do anything more meaningful than just rotate through skills and spam #1. Some good utilities using LF as a source would be cool.
If it’s only blasting “on-mob” like boss or such, you could make some use of Bone Minions probably. It can be pretty good source of double-blast in quick time on reliable cd.
Since dps of Necro doesn’t rely on utilities that much, you should be able to afford one slot for these hamsters.
1. No expansions means no visible game progression or evolution for average MMO player.
2. The game is infamous because of said “fail” – Fail to what, destroy WoW? This is just a wrong assumption and opinion and should be taken care of by PR manager.
3. The game simply lacks visible features. It has a lot of small, cool things but lacks in challanges especially in PvE.
4. The game has terrible tutorials. If I did not know about the features of the game prior to release, I would have no idea how things work, really.
Many quit the game on early stages just because they couldn’t understand the concept of leave.
5. The game has almost no machinima community. It’s a huuge part of game promotion. Just look at World of Warcraft achinima done during all these years. Thousands of videos, some of excellent quality and they’re all on the net, effectivly marketing the game. What does the WoW have then? A studio for every videomaker or free Sony Vegas Pro copy?
Nope. Free Camera, some emotes and model extractor. That’s it.
6. Technical problems – the game is still poorly optimized and requires decent PC to run. Not to mention that the game on details below high look horrible and excells only with most of the features turned on.
That’s why WoW, TESO have non-shiny, a little cartoony or toned down graphics – they make look not that awesome, but they run decently on every PC increasing the playerbase.
7. Story – This is an issue too. Story of GW2 overall is just a lackluster compared to the first game. The thing that still keeps me playing TESO isn’t the game really. It’s the quests, story, plot and lore. They’re all incredibly well done and hell lot of fun.
Somehow Zenimax managed to make interesting, thrilling l, exciting and not obvious, mature plots and quests with the same PEGI as GW2..

“Move on, pitful human, not your buisness anymore. Go back home, you and your friends and let me handle the situation”
It’s ok in PvE dungeon.
Outiside of that, Power Ranger is misconception, flawed child of game mechanics and will be NEVER really viable unless Devs decide to make fundamental changes in the whole game.
So never.
I was running LB/SB build like half a year ago and roaming with hit.
That was fun vs. classes with lack in combat mobility like Guardians, Necromancers as you could almost “kite” them with proper rotating and not get hit. However, fights tend to be very long.
But, well, I can kite these classes on perfectly open fields okay. But what’s with others?
Sure, you can pick and kill some baddies or fotm rerollers as they faceroll through their binds not even looking at the screen probably. But it gets tougher and tougher up to the point when you have to play 100% flawlessly to kill a single average bob thief or facerolling engineer.
Game movement doesn’t allow to kite properly atm, bows are weak, you lack everything, “better” classes will ignore your kiting and simply lolport to you with one button or ignore everything with immunity or such.
It’s just not worth your nerves, effort and will simply make you want to unistall this game. But if you’re a masochist, run power double bow.
@dancingmonkey Then I just missed that part, I admit I’ve not read your entire discussiom because of it’s lenght
Thanks for pointing out mistake. Although when it comes to sPvP the issue remains since there’s not that much field blasting as in other game modes thus Engi has that very strong group healing/condi removal.
You forget that Ranger can’t blast in his water field rapidly. Warhorn isn’t any meta in PvP, Drake Blast is a NPC rng decision and we can have two leaps (Sword and GS) through the water field. It involves at least 3 seconds of combat action, uses yourother abilities and weapon swaps.
Elementalist with Water Blast… Let me remind you that it’s usable in only one out of 4 attunements and Ele who’s staying in Water spamming #1 isn’t really welcome anywhere today.
At the same time, Engineer does the same thing with nearly instant cast, one utility without losing any combat efficiency. No, it isn’t balanced really.
@OP – I kind of agree. Many who play this class will defend it as it was (and still is) considered as “the high skill” profession. But since the condition meta builds have been discovered it hardly remains as one.
I admit, it has more buttons to click. But, honestly, long-time MMO players like ones coming from competitive areas of other MMO games (like WoW back in days) were managing even more keys on daily basis (Playing PvP hunter as myself it was around 40-60 binds) and Engineer isn’t a problem for them.
I admit some professions certainly lack in advanced mechanics (Rangers, Warriors(!), Guardians, Necromancers, Thieves probably) but playing a profession with more buttons to manage shouldn’t be a reason for simply having the advantage because of this.
Thing like Blizzard downloader could work perfectly for GW2 since the world is a separate zone, instanced for players inside and not connected with rest of the world.
However, ANet is not Blizzard, it’s a small team (350+ including all testers, CC managers etc is arguably minimum for a competitive game of it’s size) and should focus on way more important in-game stuff atm. Downloader like this could come with next feature patches"
ICD for this trait is the best option. Otherwise, you get punished for not usingparticular pets instead of being rewarded. Just take a look at Necro’s Shroud on enter/on leaving shroud trait effects – they’re all average at best because they’re all balanced around you having NtD trait reducing recharge on DS. If you take this trait, they may be ok, but without they’re pretty crappy.
You’re talking about hit’n’run tactic, not kiting.
If you’re being kited (i.e. outranged for most of options) just start running in opposite way and then quickly turn back on following enemy or use SWalk/Wurm for that.
As for disenaging&engaging like in case of mobile thief or warrior it’s simply managing your burst/fighting area (like corridors, tight places).
Both almost equal now but Dire will be far better in next patch. Stay condi/hybrid
Guild Wars 2: LOL, NOPE
-Srsly, an expansion?
-Wth is that?
-Living Story continues
With new trait system change I can’t see what would be the problem of “pet training”.
I mean, it could be very simple : Unlock some things for your pet via defeating some challanges, specific beasts. If you don’t want to train your pet by yourself, go the the trainer and buy these things. Simple as that.
Doesn’t fix Player-Pet connection however.
I’m more concerned about LS unique items. Chinese players miss out on many backpieces and other stuff from meta/drop during various Living Stories and that’s not one or two items, rather like 7-10% of all skins for some slots, even more maybe.
So they’ll never be able to get them….
Or will they just buy them with gems ?
Reason to play a Charr, poor human.
Rytlock was right.
Eh… Why you and not McCoy ? ;///
We’ll miss you! You had really good contact with community and have done so much in little time, wish you the best!
They should reward your hard work with a Donkey pet.
If you can only play for rewards, why should you test anything? And what, the quality of rewards?
If you like the game, go test it out, help the game. If not, nothing holds you since it’s not an actual content, not your in-game characters even (should be like this if we ever see it at least
)
You can’t say it is worth french and German but not Polish. Polish has Germanic roots and would not be that big of a stretch. I am sure as time goes on the will have many more translations. It is not coming soon though.. sorry man. No Czech for me ever prob.
You’re wrong in here. Slavs and Germans have very little in common when it comes to origins and language especially.
Local dialects like Silesia one come from the fact that those territories were under the influence of germanic culture and language for a long time.
Polish people, same like Czech are part of Western Slavs, Sclavinians who came after German tribes moving west.
Heck, even the name for Germans in Polish actually means “Those who don’t speak [our language]” – Niemcy.
Common words come from Latin language group mostly, coming with christian culture in 10th century A.D.
Other could’ve been introduced during wars, occupations and trade through the history but these are single words or phrases.
Polish and German fonetic, grammar are so extremaly different to this day.
Back to OP: As a Polish player I’ve never felt that translating the game into my language is so urgent. If we want to consider that, there’s no real need for dubbing, subtitles are perfectly enough, same like in the first game. As others have said, Polish language is understandable to so little amount of people around the world
But I’d like ANet to focus on the lacking profession balance and permanent content for now.
Besides, raw translations are never perfect. It’s same like when non-Polish/Slavic players play Witcher series – some jokes, references and specific pronouncination, atmosphere are only understandable to native speakers and get lost in translation.
As we speak about translation, I have to mention one of hillarious translations from the first game, e.g. :
-One of the bosses was translated as "Onan, the Giant “Stick” "
-One of the boss titles were “X, Forever Hard”
And many others….
Well my spider can immob for 7 seconds + muddy terrain + intimidating howl I should be able to make it… this needs testing but not before the big patch hits us in the face
I will try it just for trolling around and see what happens.
Last time I’ve checked Malicious Training was bugged on Spiders’ Webs and Paralyzing Venoms when it came to “updated” tooltips as they were increasing duration for about 1 second.
Your personal Condition duration doesn’t affect pets either
Death Shroud looks the best on Charrs, hands down. Their voice also fit the theme.
If you don’t like Charrs for whatever reason, roll anything other than Asura as they will make you look like a dark poop in DS and gremlins don’t fit Necromancer theme at all. Same as all magitech they have.
Sylvari would be a good choice. You can make them look almost as Undead and starter masks look cool, same as on Charr. + They’re more humanoid so more “skirts” do fit. Their DS look is almost the same as Human’s so yeah.
If you want to use Spectral Grasp, use it in close range. Over 1000 even average players will see the projectile and dodge it. It’s best use as combo interrupter and allows you to set the fight on your rules.
It’s perfect for such things as pulling someone into 2 dagger rotations, Enfeebling Blood or just troll them and pull into some holes.
SG+Dark Pact is brilliant on Skyhammer I can say if you play soloq from time to time.
Power Necro should and will outlast you. You have to rotate with sword at most and putting maximum possible pressure when Spectral Armor and DS are down and on cooldown.
It doesn’t really matter if you dodge one or two Blasts with Reflex or SB#3. Good Power DS Necro should be able to stay around 60 seconds in DS under your pressure if he so desires. Trading hits with Necro in Perception build is a suicide for Ranger most of the times, just trust me. You’ll get hit sooner or later and every hit varies : It can be either 3k on tanky necro or even up to 7-8k.
Good Power Necro doesn’t spam LBlast only. He should rotate and there’s no way you can dodge everything he throws at you. Your best bet is to keep Weakness up when he’s in DS (since Necro cannot cleanse it then unless they pre-use WoP) and bring a lot of CC.
If you wish to getyourself a Ranger, level it by yourself.
Classes like Warrior, Guardian or Thief should be raised with tomes since they’re so boring to level and tedious, but surprisingly many find Ranger as most fun class to level, not only with Bear pet and using Longbow in melee range
If you want to use Longbow in future, look at this weapon as utility. It has good range for World Bosses, poor damage, Knockback and Stealth That would be it. Treat as utility, not weapon.
If you want to WvWvW with friends, take any other class. Rangers are officially classified as useless there.
We’re okay in dungeons and spvp, easy for world pve.
Warrior, similar to Ranger is just too simple. Mechanic is trivial, it’s only one burst option so we don’t see any Adrenaline management. To compensate the lack of active mechanics it has to be better in passive, same like Ranger (although the Ranger is by far more complicated mix of issues).
If ANet decides to change, expand Warrior’s mechanic a bit, by let’s say, giving two burst options – one offensive, one defensive – we’ll see more options for active Warrior play, new possibilities.
It’s obvious that classes with more advanced mechanics are just better, have more possible variety and more active gameplay, rewarding at higher levels of play : Engineer (although spammy, still the most keys to press), Mesmer, Elementalist.
Classes which are not listed here are in the middle and should be brought to tier 1 level.
If ANet wants to make casual game, it doesn’t mean it has to be trivial.
The main problem with underwater combat is it’s just not balanced. I love it on necro, but not guard. Will see how I like it on thief when I start her up.
Course I’m talking PVP, golden rule of water PVP: If you’re target is a condi necro in the water, just run.
Next rule: If it’s Power Necro, you know you’re so dead even if he goes AFK in UW Shroud.
Flat nerfing is just patheticly bad.
Instead, Conditions should be more about DoT – damage over time - longer duration less damage per tick. But it would require:
1. Reducing cleansing abilities across the game
2. Split of Movement Imparing effects such as chill, immobilize, cripple, control ones like Fear, Blind, Weakness, poison possibly from damage ones and allowing to cleanse them in other way.
So in fact: Making it a bit more complicated, closer to GW1 Conditions/Hexes. It also goes against simple game vision design, but hey…
So we’re in deep kitten and have to deal with conditions.
My first step would be to bound conditions to non-spammy atacks (such as engi nades, necro AA etc.), at least condition damage ones and reducing cleansing capability across the game a bit in exchange.
Mesmers, Thieves, Engineers
If your worst experience is buying the game, why do you still play it and post on forums ?
The 50$ (30$ if discounted) for 19 months of play was too much of a price to easily forget.
As far as I can remember, you could get a refund in first month or so if you didn’t like the game.
Besides that, you could’ve just sell your account. It’s against rules, but it doesn’t stop anyone from doing so if we’re to be realistic.
If your worst experience is buying the game, why do you still play it and post on forums ?
When most of you speak about Condi, I feel that Power necros can be even more dangerous.
It’s a false that they’re so easy to kite. Most of the roamers will use multiple sources of movement imparing effects such as Chill, Long Cripple, mostly 2 sources of immobilize. Good Power necro should also take Spectral Grasp.
Keep in mind that most of roamers running Power Necro solo are better, more experienced Necros in general, who grown bored of condi and they will know how to duel (not talking about wellmamcers rolling with blobs).
1v1 with Power Necro if you go for strict hit exchange, you lose. When you might think you’re doing excellent burst, many will just pop Spectral armor, regaining ~3400 effective Shroud health every second if not more.
Best bet in general would be to be highly-evasive and enter the fight with a lot of CC. Your pet is very likely to die during Life Transfer and gives further LF generation when Locust Swarm / Spectrals are up. After CC from the wolf if done, you might want to swap to Spider.
If any of you want to practice 1v1 with Power necro on WvW (Desolation matchup) or in tpvp, feel free to PM.
There are two paths in general for “Elites” – they could be either like in GW1, just better skills or go the path of “Ulitmate”. Mixing it up like it’s currently, when one “Elite” can be up every 32 seconds and others are like 240 seconds even… It just doesn’t work, Anet has to decide.
My guess is that they want to create Elites as powerful, long cd so said “Ultimates”. And Necromancer is a good example of those. Take Lich Form for instance.
Matter of design philosophy and it’s introducement into the game. If all elites would be 120-180 seconds cooldown, I would have nothing against ol’ version of Lyssa Runes. But if one class can pop “elite” more often than a mere utility skill… Well…
When thought above fits into more, I’d say, popular (because of mobas) theme, GW1 has other view on Elite skills.
I’m not saying any of options is bad, I just got that thought from observing where elites are on action bar – furthest right, after utilities so I suppose they’re meant to be treated as “Master Utility”.
Back to OP – Our Elites aren’t bad. They just don’t fit in current mixture of game design.
Ummm for those saying the critical damage nerf will kill pvp power builds it won’t. They aren’t changing crit damage there just pve/wvw
Next patch I lose 10% crit damage from trait stats (20% instead of 30%) and 5% from lose of jewel + some minor loss from runeset.
If you’re running full zerk amulet like Thieves, Mesmers etc. nowadays the feeocity change doesn’t affect you much since loss of stat is compensated in Zerk/crit dmg stat amulet. But if you’re running more balanced versions like mine, with Barb amulet+zerk jewel etc. you take a loss. In my case, about half of my crit damageI believe all of the amulets (save Celestial) that have crit damage will have an amount of Feroicty to provide the same crit damage as before, plus 10% (to make up for the 10% lost from traits).
But at the same time other using other Amulet like Barbarian (me) with some dps jewel is no more. We also suffer from crit damage reductions from runesets (og

Ikittenapcloser was on the first place in chain, we’d zip around the maps in no time, faster than thieves, just by mashing #1 on sword
Edit: That autocorrect is ridiculous ;P
That’s one of biggest issues I have with the game currently and I’ve spoken about this numerous times.
One of my suggestions was to merge some trait to give certain weapons, like bows this line:
“Can be used when retreating”.
It’s a line from Quick Shot. It could work without evade on non-channeled skills (Rapid Fire should be removed anyway and applied as a effect… “Symbiosis, Ranger & CDI” thread is still work in progress mind you
) and allow to perform that mini-disengage from foe when turning directly to fire and not lose any speed.
If they fix strafe, they fix 50% of Longbow Ranger issues, honest opinion. At least in PvP
(edited by Rym.1469)
The way the pets are rare and given to Ranger is different from said “Rare pets” is WoW. In Warcraft, it’s a mob which is strong in general and you have to do some thing to tame it, but it’s in open world in general.
Back in GW2 there were some rare pets (some are still avalible via HoM), but they were more like rewards for completing certain challanges the game provided, the hard thing wasn’t the mob but spawning it. I believe they might want to follow this model in second game
I believe the reason is that still not many people play it in competitive modes because MM is way easier when it comes to 1v1 or holding and the general portrait of meta spec is Dumbfire condi.
It’s also because Power spec gets worse when you face more skilled players. At this point it becomes something way more than Life Blast casting because the cast is slow, easy to dodge, can be countered with movement and it’s extremaly vulnerable to Blinds / Aegis.
Power spec doesn’t have very defined spec either. We can hold points pretty good since DS is excellent 1v1, roam a bit with right setup, teamfight with good AoE burst (but coming with long cd). However, we’re not the best choice in any of these situations – Good hambow/decap engi will force you to leave the point (in 1st situation you kill it, but you have to kite a bit), Engis/Dumbfire Necros/Hambows/Guardians/Spirit Rangers are more reliable in teamfights and provide a little more utility. As for roaming, well, we might hit hard and be painful, but still the Thief is, hands down, most mobile roamer and again, brings SRefuge.
On WvW pretty much everything can crit high if you spec for it and Life Blast is no exception.
Another thing is, IMO our greatest counter, good medi guardian is very rare in both game modes since it hasn’t clear role either.
It might shift but, well… With upcoming nerfs to crit damage across all game modes, including tpvp, many will just stay Condition, many will roll one again (me) and some will just continue to ignore Power possibilities.
Necro is absolute ultimate god underwater, especially Power. Being almost invunerable to conditions, huge damage and surv, awesome Shroud skills.. What more? You can even outdamage Ranger’s pet rez if you poison the target with #2 DS without much issue.
They gave Necromancers undead minions because… They’re necromancers ? What did you expect, butterflies?
And now more seriously – In GW1 Necromancer could bring about 16-17 minions at once to combat and make new ones from corpses during larger fights pretty endlessly. Currently, typical Necro will run 5-6 minions.
I believe there are two main types of Powermancer: Well-bomb and Shroud. Both are viable imo when played right when Shroud is more solo oriented and Well more conquest mode TF based.
And I agree that Focus may be better for Well one.
Personally, I run couple versions of Shroud in tpvp and WvW and I always use Axe/Dagger+Dagger/Warhorn, but just personal preference I guess
They got me for a while with those creation menu previews, very, very well done. And it fits.
However, three lines below I was laughing about Personal Story
Maybe they should hire him as Community manager and rename to “Rangers’ Therapist”
Ummm for those saying the critical damage nerf will kill pvp power builds it won’t. They aren’t changing crit damage there just pve/wvw

Interesting idea. I wasn’t some sort of hardcore player in GW1 but I remember that “Enraged Lunge” ranger build, was a lot of fun back then
Brilliant footage! I had good laughs with it, especially that Mesmer.
Maybe you’ll duel my power nec sometime in some match with Desolation
Great dodges
