PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Ghosts are not OP. There is a very limited supply of charges in the matches, and the ghosts can only take so much before using it. Besides, do you people WANT these matches to last for the full 13+ minutes? I’d rather them end as fast as they currently do so it doesn’t take so long to wait for the next one.
Easiest way to fix this problem is to give a 5 minute timer once the leader leaves the party, so the instance stays open for that amount of time.
looks at several necromancer corpses on the ground in front of my trap ranger
Are you REALLY sure about them being OP?
That brings to a thought something Rainbow…how will we REALLY know who won? How do we know that this isn’t already rigged in one candidate’s favor by Anet, and we won’t ever find that out?
Tried again, and got as far kitten minutes and 30 seconds left on the clock before I got overwhelmed. They started summoning numerous Veterans on me…which I don’t mind if I’m able to KILL said veterans at a somewhat decent pace, which apparently I cannot do as a berserker Mesmer (which is stupid).
I was skeptical of the stealth change to Hunter’s Shot at first, but now I really like it. It keeps saving my life in PvE, though I HAVE noticed my damage is lower now.
Does it stack between PvP and PvE? Just wondering if I can complete this faster by doing PvP along with my PvE.
GNASHBLADE IS NO CHARR. Do not vote for him. Why? Because CHARR NEED NO GODS!
abbadon is not a god, he is a superior superior being above gods
If he’s above a god, he’s a god.

It was a fix alright…a MICROSOFT fix, meaning they broke it.
Tried soloing on my ranger. Aggroed the mobs from behind the mortars and died to a Veteran Striker.
Tried soloing on my guardian. Aggroed the mobs from behind the mortars and died to a Veteran Striker.
Tried soloing on my mesmer. Aggroed the mobs from behind the mortars and died to a Veteran Striker.
See the pattern? And each time I was somehow within their aggro range despite killing the plunderers from there.
The only thing that makes T4 hard IMO is the fact that they throw so many veterans at you, and said veterans seem to take too many hits before going down, while hitting like a berserker build. Lower how much they can take before they fold, and this will be easier.
A shame, because it irritated me all to hell. The veterans seem hard to kill even when you’re berserker, but the strikers are far worse, which seems not only odd but a little OP. Everytime I’ve died in here, whether with a party or solo, it’s been to a Veteran Striker.
I did the 4 tiers on both candidates by myself. You don’t need to fight the veterans and other mobs, i just stayed near the place where the plunderes and the cannons spawn and kept killing the plunderers, you don’t get agro from the veterans if you stay behind where the cannons spawn.
I tried this, but I started getting aggro. I think they fixed it. :/
I just had a thought, something that could possibly change everybody’s mind about the Reactor. It was said that it delved in chaos magic…and at some point during the main story they talk about how dragons seem to be linked to chaos magic. So this is how it’s looking, vote Evon if you want to learn more about Abaddon and the old human gods, vote Kiel if you want to know more about the dragons.
I also agree that Evon has a lot more potential for character development in the future. He’s a little mysterious and probably has ties to all sorts of nefarious organizations.
But whose to say we will ever see that if he wins? While he’s shady and could be even worse as a politician, wouldn’t you also like to have him attempt to make Kiel look bad via various underhanded deeds if she wins?

This was my reaction to it. Might as well make this a ranger reaction thread.
Among other benefits the stealth on hunters also let’s you cast the beginning of barrage without detection.
So it’s ok for rangers to have stealth now, but eles cannot have mobility? My double standard sense is tingeling.
Most elementalists run D/D, which is already mobile and tanky enough. I don’t think they need a buff to mobility, tyvm.
1 skill on a 40 seconds cooldown does not equal mobility when everyone else has the same skill on 12 seconds cooldowns.
cracks knuckles
Okay, let’s type out what D/D elementalists have for mobility (both weapon wise and slot skill wise)
Burning Speed (Fire #3)
Ride the Lightning (Air #4)
Lightning Flash
Mist Form (you’re immune for 3 seconds)
Most classes would kill for that many mobility options. Every other class is on a short cooldown because they don’t have as many options…save for thief, but that class was built for mobility.
And with stealth and that delicious rapid fire vulnerability added to LB, I can support now more than ever…as well as survive.
imagine….. sucks on lips rapid fire into a zerg while walking in a cone pattern. with piercing arrows….. the entire zerg now has vulnerability
Oh the chaos will be delicious~

Imagine what hunter’s shot does for trap rangers now. They’ll never see me or my traps coming. >:D
Longbow is a power weapon. Traps are condition weapons.
I use it for support, since I mostly run dungeons or WvW on my ranger nowadays. Besides, despite what people think, SB SUCKS in dungeons and WvW due to how many classes have access to bleed and how many are using it at any given time. Compared to stacking vulnerability which not many classes can actually do. I already have GS as my melee weapon, and I prefer to keep a melee/ranged combination at all times. Never know when you need to stay ranged to survive.

I’m giddy right now…SO GIDDY! THANK YOU ANET! THANK YOU!
I kind of with Oran, I think you definitely have to make a distinction.
To me glitching out a boss is, like, actually honestly and truly abusing terrain to cause a boss to be unable to hit you while you can still hit them. This is not a playstyle. This is straight-up cheating. Any instance of that needs to be fixed. No excuses.
Stacking can sometimes be the way people execute this, but when people stack it’s not always a case of trying to cause a Boss to glitch out. Mostly when you see people stacking, it’s for Buffs, ease of rezzing, or to avoid a secondary AI behavior that triggers certain effects when players are at a range (Subject Alpha’s dragontooth, for example).
All that said, yeah, it is kind of Lame.
The feeling you get from bunching Spider Queen into some corner and just brainlessly wailing on her is not epic…it’s just kind of pathetic. I don’t care whose fault that is, I just know that it has to change. Moving forward encounter design really needs to be doing more to keep melee play and the zerg ball from being such a dominant strategy.
I agree with most of your post, but I have to point out the bolded part. The problem here is the way several systems work ingame. One of which is how it’s usually easier to keep the party together because the bosses usually punish ranged fighting with some really powerful attack, one they never really do when you’re close to him. It’s also really easy to keep people alive when they’re this close.
The other being that there’s a limit on AoE, one that can be abused with pets, spirits, clones, minions, etc. being out on the field. The closer the party is together with these out, the more likely everybody will survive because the AoE doesn’t differentiate between NPCs and party members, and will hit 5 of any combination of the two.
He’s a thief who got killed by one. Just take it as him QQing because he has to actually think while fighting one.
I have no idea why anybody would skip them. They’re easy to take out, and getting rid of them prevents you having to avoid them again in the future should you wipe at Alpha.
You want a hard mode dungeon? Go to Arah and try fighting the mobs. There’s hard mode. Or just go through Twilight Arbor, which got buffed to where a party of 2 warriors, a necro, an engineer, and a guardian get wiped often.
That party composition should be just fine for TA…
We wiped on the worms near the beginning, we wiped on the spiders, we wiped at least once on every boss. Wasn’t a case of teamwork either, because we were all synced well. Both the warriors and the engineer were glass cannon, and the guardian was set up as buff support. My necro was set up for condition support (cleansing them, throwing all of them on foes, etc). It’s odd because a few months ago this would never have happened, we’d have wiped all the enemies without problems. I don’t remember reading about a buff to TA, but just from fighting in there I can tell it seems like they buffed quite a few things.
They havn’t change TA.
It sure feels like they have.
TC, I would KILL for that to happen. Because then I could go full support with the Stalker, the Moas, and the Brown Bear in dungeons.

I wouldn’t mind it at all if my Flame Trap could do that. Because then it would be even more fun to watch them burn in it~
It’s mostly the thieves that are too comfortable with their stealth that do that from what I can tell. Personally I just feel they need to make a counter to stealth, or lower the amount of stealth they get and buff the thief’s survivability in exchange. Too bad either one of these will make the Backstab spammers QQ at the top of their lungs.
Good choice. He pretty much showed that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, and won’t even try to play the class to see if he’s right or not.
He’s just going to complain and not bother making a ranger with a spirit build to actually see whether it requires skill or not, celebratty. There’s no point to begin with to argue with somebody who is that hardheaded. Besides, I bet he’s one of the people who thinks that Warriors are OP in PvP. rolls eyes
Is it just me, or is most of the complaining that X build on an underpowered class needs to be nerfed are usually done by thieves?
Sarcasm dude. When something is that easy to play you might as well be alt+tabbing and watching Hannah Montana
If you think Ranger is easy to play, then by all means make your own ranger with a spirit build, try it out, and THEN come back to us and tell us how it is. Don’t just complain about it when you haven’t even tried to do it yourself to see if it easily done or not.
Since it would be “logical” to reveal a thief that got blocked, can we also get at last the ability to disrupt channels if we stealth during the cast time? Say like Rapid Fire that continues to track us perfectly even if we are invisible.
As a Ranger, I would be okay with this if thieves got revealed when blocked.
Notice how you respond to a thief by actually doing something. You have to think and react. Quickly.
If you don’t that guy is going to tear your guts out and probably laugh at you.
I don’t care if people who don’t think believe Thieves are OP they are just easy targets and will never be a challenge in tPvP. That’s what hotjoins are for.
But back to the working for the same results, moving in and out of stealth to kill spirits while the AFK ranger spams burn fields and dances in circles, with no stun breaks, and then targeting the guy takes a lot longer than it should. A S/D thief can punk him, sure. They can steal every protection proc away from the guy and dodge their attacks that would stack burns if they didn’t.
But that’s the battle of cheesers and I hate playing that way. Evade spamming vs. AFK evade spamming passive spirit carry. Is that what this game is supposed to be about?
…See my picture for the response to the word AFK.
That thread is so many levels of fail…methinks Anet itself needs to tell him to L2P.
I wrote up a rather lengthy response to this but decided it’s not really worth the time to respond to a troll. That ‘A Thief and Ele, btw, have to work their butts off to get the same results as an AFK Ranger’ comment though….that was pretty dang funny!
Beyond funny. I actually had sprite come out of my nose from that comment. Good things my laptop is covered, otherwise I could have ruined the keyboard from that laughter.
OP, if you don’t like JPs, don’t do them. If you’re complaining about the rewards being in them because you can’t get to them…get a mesmer to help you. That’d be the easiest way to finish them and get your rewards. But really, what your guild thinks does not equal what everybody thinks. I personally love JPs and will go out of my way to do them.
Ahh, so they’re using the bunkers to guard the points…very smart on their part. Is the ranger himself doing all the damage through his weapons, is the burning from the sun spirit doing it, or is it the pet? Because whichever one is doing damage will tell you exactly where the rest of his trait points are, since he most likely already has a full 30 points in the Nature Magic traitline, so he has a high HP pool.
Two questions…are you guys losing due to kills, or due to the points from the capture locations? And if you are losing due to capture points, are you all zerging to one point after another?
I’ll be honest, I have never seen more facepalm inducing posts in quite a while. If the Ranger is using spirits, then it goes without saying to kill the spirits. Those things are like paper, easily shred through. Though I’m wondering…TC, are you losing because of them getting more points due to capturing locations, or are you losing due to them killing your team? Your answer shall determine my response.
I have a sneaking suspicion we’re going to see a ton of mud-slinging and dirty deeds, with Evon pulling the first trigger. People don’t tend to like politicians or people who do that, so there may be a lot of players voting against him because of his actions.
It would deal a percentage of the damage. That means that doing 5k damage in a single hit or kittens with 1k damage each would give back the same exact retaliation damage to the attacker.
That will make retaliation OP, because it will punish ANY TYPE of damage.
Retaliation, as I said, is clearly intended to punish only a single type of damage, which is also the more valuable one, and people who doesn’t care about it.
Here’s the thing, retaliation is SUPPOSED to punish any type of damage. That’s why ANY hit sets it off, and what’s asinine about that is that it makes retal both underpowered and overpowered at the same time. For burst damage, it’s worthless because the damage returned isn’t that good. For DPS, it’s OP because it can easily do more damage than the DPS is doing. Therein lies the problem.
The easiest way to fix this would be to make it have a low maximum duration time (like 6 seconds) and then make the retal hit back for a % of the damage dealt to the person with it in for sPvP. Make it so duration can’t get stacked and you’ve fixed it completely.
If they do buff racials, I would like the following changes to a few of the charr ones (since I’ve only played charr really and know the weaknesses of these).
Shrapnel Mine: Give us the ability to detonate it at will and make it a Blast Finisher.
Artillery Barrage: Give this a higher range so it’s actually useful. Maybe a 1500 range? It wouldn’t be too broken with that considering the 4 minute cooldown.
Warband Support: The NPCs this calls need to be buffed so they’re as powerful/useful as the Thieves Guild NPCs.
I’m just making this up, but:
The Abbadon fractal research might lead to expanding the map into the crystel desert, while the Thaumanova research might lead to followups into the western maguuma region. Simply because “vote on which fractal you get” is a bit thin.
This…is an interesting theory. If it’s true, then I have to vote Evon because I want to see that Crystal Desert.
Well there’s always the other approach, which I hope they take. We do the votes, but then at the end one of the Aetherblade bosses kills another one of the captains, so we end up having both of them on the council. I CAN ONLY HOPE THIS IS THE CASE.
Since this is cutthroat voting and there seems to be unruly things going on with the procedure (or so it sounds in advance), why are we fighting over whether to choose Kiel or Evon? Why not have everybody rig it so they both win, and we get both fractals PLUS those nice bonuses?
#Team Both for Council
Why? Because we get ALL THE PRIZES. Why have one when YOU CAN HAVE BOTH!?
