PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Id suggest including a token based system for the unique skins, minis and anything else specific to the dragon champ. Tradeable at a NPC that becomes available after the fight is won.
The ascended mats, weapons and components could be RNG with a low chance, in accordance to rarity (weps extremely low, mats not so low).
The rest of the items should be reworked to a tier above. What I mean is all blues to turn to greens, all greens to turn to rares and the guarenteed rare to be turned exotic. The guarenteed exotic is really important imo, as even if the player is unlucky and doesnt recieve any ascended mats, they still have the exo to salvage for dark matter.
Best idea I’ve heard for this…unless they’re saving that for an updated Jormag. But still, it would actually ENCOURAGE people to do this if they can save up tokens for things. Like I dunno, maybe 40-60 tokens per kill of a Dragon Champion, with it being only once per day you get the reward. Takes maybe 1000 tokens to get a single ascended weapon, along with some laurels.
6/10 – Interesting commando look, but not my taste. :P
I was actually aiming for a more traditional “lives off the land” Ranger look. If you notice, almost all of what he’s wearing seems to have that same ‘vibe’ as that of Native Americans, even down to the bow. Probably doesn’t help that his 2nd set is an axe/warhorn setup. XD
10/30/30/0/0 trap build. Healing Spring + Frost Trap + Flame Trap + Spike Trap + Entangle as the slot skills. Enjoy as you find yourself helping the zerg while driving the enemies nuts with conditions. Exchange Entangle for Rampage as One when needed for Instances.
No, Ryu, it is not. Not if the difficulty is too high for pug zerg.
Weren’t there only like 20-40 people there, all in cleric’s gear and with preset traits, slot skills, etc, meaning they weren’t at full potential power? I have a feeling we’ll blow through that without MUCH problems.
The new and improved Teq has a chance of dropping ascended equipment. That alone will keep a large amount of people coming.
Best pvp dodge ive ever seen…..I dont see this game ever getting pvp to a competitive level now….god kittening dammit
Can’t blame him for that, considering how toxic the PvP community is, no offense.
Maybe there’s a valid reason for it being so toxic?
So there’s a valid reason for calling for nerfs on any and every class that beats a person’s build, there’s a valid reason for bashing the hell out of anybody who doesn’t play PvP religiously, and there’s a valid reason for all the hostilities in general from the PvP subforums?

The line that keeps being used is “We hear what the community is asking for”. That actually makes matters worse because they hear us but they just don’t actually care what we think.
And impartial observer would’ve noted that revamping the loot pinatas we call world bosses was something many players asked for, me included. Didn’t a recent thread about making the open world harder get upvoted?
People have been asking for things like player housing, new races/skills, gvg, better armor choices, more WvW updates, polymock, precursor crafting/scavenger hunt, new legendaries, guild halls, and other things far more than just making Tequatl behave slightly differently.
Some of these things are already in the game. Others aren’t as feasible right now and resources are probably better spent elsewhere.
- New races will require their own personal story additions.
- GvG will really just be sPvP but between players from different guilds.
- There will be new skills added to the game.
- I’m not sure what you mean by better armor choices but there are new runes, lots of new skins, and Ascended armor coming up.
- There’s been a number of WvW updates. They’re also bringing new features in and bringing the orbs back somehow.
- Precursor crafting will likely appear in some future update after everyone’s crafted their Ascended weapons.
- Playing housing/guild halls seems like a good idea but it could end up being really gimmicky. How often do you think people would actually visit their own houses or guild halls?
Yes these things require resources, all things do. By you saying the resources are better spent elsewhere you are doing exactly what they are. These things are constantly being asked for, but always ignored or postponed for indefinite or excessive amounts of time.
All the things you have tried to answer with “it’s coming, maybe, sometime in the future” which is all we’ve heard for a year.
Then it’s coming, eventually. What else do you want? Them to release content at the whims of people who request it? People seem to forget that this isn’t their game, it’s ANets. I’m pretty sure ANet has a schedule of content with when it’s suppose to go live. Why isn’t it out “NAO?!?!!?!”, because they’re working on other things they think is important or has more support.
They produce the game, FOR US. They don’t make the game for themselves to just gawk at. If they aren’t listening to their target audience, they are doing it wrong.
No doubt, it’s made for us, I agree. However, they have a crapton of other content they’re working on for us to progress their game. They’re delivering content, updates, changes etc. It’s just not what you want.
It’s not what a lot of people want. Which is my entire point.
On these forums, you mean. And as we all know, we get a TON of lurkers on the forums, so the majority here may in fact be the minority in-game, as the Election proved with Kiel winning most of the vote.
Just think, they probably would have killed it if they didn’t bring any condition classes.
They’re all in clerics gear. DPS isn’t as effective in this live demo of the new Teq.
Question to the people saying they aren’t listening to the community…are you feeling that the forums are the community, or are you thinking of the in-game community? Because these forums are maybe 15% of the people who play the game, and I hardly feel that these forums are worth listening to most of the time…especially the sPvP forums.
I think most of the people in this thread complaining never played anything in the 8bit generation or earlier. Not everyone thinks candyland-easy games are fun. That’s why ultra-hard games exist in the first place.
Absolutely true, and I have played a few. That being said, the problem for me is that I didn’t purchase the game (and a few Gem Cards) to play a ‘candyland’ game. I bought it to play a fantasy mmo. If I wanted such a game I would get one or pull out the old DS. If you like that sort of game that’s great. It has no place in the GW2 world imho.
Well, you have a point. I don’t know how long you’ve been here but platformer content has been extremely popular with the community and the first SAB received nothing but accolades from reviewers and players. So, naturally, ANET builds on that foundation.
CJohansen has said that SAB is part of their seasonal rotation they’ve defined after the first year. I take that to mean permanent fantasy content is on the way. These mini-games are just seasonal things done by very small teams.
Note: I grew up in the 8-bit era and am a huge fan of games like Super Meat Boy (that’s a newer game) so I’m a sucker for this. If they even make it remotely as hard as the games in that genre—but translated to 3D successfully—I’ll be very impressed.
I’ll guess I date myself—-I started playing when PONG was in on Magnavox Odyssey
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnavox_Odyssey
and have played just about every system since then . I hve been playing GW2 from just about day1 as well GW1.
Have fun with it, I was hoping for new content that was actually related to game genre. (and game fixes that have been ignored or put on the back burner).
I think you missed the important part of his post…the part that mentions that this is a smaller team doing the seasonal event stuff. Meaning the game fixes and new permanent content that deals with the game itself are 2 other departments.
9/10 Going for a Storm Shadow look?

Those will probably be the usual Soulbound on acquiring, like exotic weapons in Fractals.
It’s kinda sad that what you said is probably the truth, Chopps. Luckily those who dungeon with PUGs often usually see more than a fair share of good Rangers…and a ton of horrible Guardians, Mesmers, and Warriors. Top tier my butt, it only makes them lazy!
I hope there’s at least infinite lives or something, because this will get very ugly if there’s not.
Wait, you mean in PvP, which most players don’t care about?
We’ve lost another member of the Ranger community, and a dev at that? I am now sad…who will help us get more reliable pets and damage now?
The issue isn’t that they can’t do it the issue is that it would make pets (rangers) Op.
Pets would hit with every attack you couldn’t use positioning avoid hits. Without a block or use of evade they would hit you every time. You wouldn’t be able to out run or juke them.Think back to before the lowered pet leashing to all the times the a player out ran or lose you but you pet was on their butt. The difference would be they would continue to take damage every set of the way.
Easy fix to that OP nature, nerf pet damage and put more of it back into the Ranger. There, you’ve fixed the pet problem and made the Ranger himself, the one who actually needs to survive, more powerful.
What is this world coming to?!
Champion farming. /ew
But wouldn’t that drop the value if more were found?
That requires people to sell them.

I posted about this in crafting awhile back. I’m concerned with T6 fine mat prices mostly. There isn’t much supply even with champions dropping them in the new bags and the last couple living stories have flooded the game with money. I can only see the prices going up while they remain so difficult to acquire.
I have a feeling that with the addition of these ascended weapons, they may reinstate the old drop rate for the T6 mats to compensate for this and stabilize the prices for them. Doesn’t mean they will though…
They have a very easy solution to fix it; which I hope they will do instead of nerfing it. Once the captain pops out, make the rest of the mobs invulnerable until they die, problem solved.
No, they should pull a Flame Shaman fix…meaning no new mobs spawn after the captain comes out. There, we’ve stopped the farmers, they have to complete the events to get more boxes, we’ve saved everything.
Actually, easiest way to get back in is to just have somebody else pull you into the Scarlet’s Playhouse dungeon. The second you complete it, you get the achievement that lets you get back into the Pavilion. There, done.
I’m sorry, but I loved Scarlet’s dialogue in her Playhouse. It was witty, I laughed a few times, and she seems like a truly insane character I wouldn’t mind seeing often. She’s the Joker, and we’re Batman.
People are not killing champions to advance the event. In fact, one very easy way to farm is by not killing the event champions – in the “Kill the Aether Captain” event, ignoring the captain but killing everyone around him will assure a continuous stream of champions, as they would only stop spawning if the captain were killed. This stalls the invasion, and does absolutely nothing to help the players who are actually trying to complete the event.
You’ve stumbled onto the answer on how to fix this. Get rid of the constantly spawning champion enemies in those fights. Bam, you’ve nerfed the farming and gotten it to where people have to kill the boss to actually get the champion loot.
By the way, to those complaining about not being able to make gold, remember, the more people that have a lot of money, the more the prices of everything have to skyrocket to accomodate it. It’s not possible for all players to be rich and buy everything they want easily, you know.
Waypointing does not seem to reset the counter at all, as far as I can tell. Went to 5 different portals on all bunches of sections for Lornar’s Pass, and cleared them all. I got it on the 5th one, so I’m pretty sure waypointing within the map doesn’t reset the counter or anything.
Troll detected.
Keep the sPvP complaints in the sPvP forum please. Most of the complaints and commentary in this subforum tend to lean towards WvW and PvE, the two fields we’re in desperate need of help in, and complaints are justified dealing with. Nobody really complains about sPvP because well…sPvP maybe gets touched by 10% of the GW2 population. By the way, considering how the last time you guys in sPvP complained you got our pets nerfed in sPvP, AND PvE AND WvW, you will get no sympathy from me…
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…have you even tried throwing mass amounts of conditions on the spirits? Those are the only thing keeping the spirit ranger afloat, and the Ranger doesn’t have any condition removal save for the active on Signet of Renewel (which they’re not likely to have) and Healing Spring to get rid of conditions on the spirits.
Guys, while this is a glitch that happened during a Guild Rush, I thought you might like a taste of what it’s like to not have your pet out during combat.
Either a time limit OR a one-shot mechanic or two should be a requirement for any reasonably challenging fight. Maybe not both, but at least one.Or at least a few extremely high-damage abilities. Otherwise, you could just go full-on bunker and pretty much cheese the fight that way. There always has to be some kind of mechanic to force tactical play.Anyway, yeah. Great fight. Preferred Lupi solo, but good.
They need to start developing boss fights with some type of AI that adjusts to the players.
For example…do more than 5-10% of damage to the boss within a few seconds with direct damage? The boss spikes it right back at you, heals herself to where only that 5-10% damage has been registered, and gets a major damage reduction to direct damage. Until you start doing a set amount of condition damage to it, at which point it’ll drop its direct defenses for condition removal. Boss attacks doing pitiful damage to you for 10 seconds? She starts doing large amounts of condition damage through multiple stacks. Healing conditions too much? She’ll start throwing out heavy hitting direct attacks to kill you before you can outheal her. Grouping up too much? She’ll start throwing AoE your way. Booning too much? She’ll start destroying them.
These are the types of things I want to see the bosses start doing. I want them to be real bosses, where just one build will not cut it, and you’ll have to adjust how you fight through the battle to survive the challenge.
I beat Liadri on my 10th try. I ran full Berserker Warrior - Greatsword / Axe & Mace. 30/0/0/10/30: V, IX, XI / 0 / 0 / VI / VI, IX, XII: Healing Signet, Frenzy, For Great Justice, On My Mark, Signet of Rage – on Liadri and rotated counter-clockwise (doesn’t matter) on 2nd Phase.
I’m not a maso- or anything but I honesty like Gambles and bugged Conjured Greatswords at Kuraii the Cruel. I want more insane content. I hope World Event Bosses are more difficult than they are now as well.
Your opinion is now null and void. It’s nothing personal…but Warriors are known to trivialize the hardest possible content.
You guys can move on, the Ranger shall still be my main for the majority of things that come out new to the game. You can never replace the playstyle of a trap ranger, NEVER.
And yes, I do think liadri was easy.
1) Don’t stand in red circles
2) Kill floating orb
3) Don’t stand next the shadowy thingiesDon’t tell this was hard, even WoW has harder and more complex mechanics than that….
Complexity does not define difficulty alone. One of your examples… red circles? OK. But what about visibility of said circles? What about their frequency of spawning and area coverage? What about the fact that they always 1-shot you? In WoW 1-shot mechanics are actually rare even on most demanding HC encounters. If they do happen, they usually have a build-up (so you must complete some task to avoid it happening) or a very significant telegraph. They are not spammed at you every few seconds during the entire fight. In WoW HC raids failure comes when your raid caves in to the pressure over the period of time. Not when they slip by half second with awereness check which happens every 2 seconds.
Complexity doesn’t define difficulty? Lets play chess with only pawns.
Red circles shouldn’t be difficult to see. Relying on something like that to define “difficulty” is poor design. That’s like removing the animation from eviserate or kill shot and saying that’s how you make warriors harder to fight.
Their frequency and area coverage is similar to that of lupi, who, surprise surprise, is not hard either. It’s another dodge and reaction check, just like lupi.
Difference is this is a 1v1 fight, it’s not a 5v1 fight…and I think everybody would be okay with this fight if it was 5v1, as then it would be possible to survive using teamwork. But since you’re on your own…it’s like soloing Lupi. A few can do it, but the vast majority can not.
I can’t even get to Liadri (Keep wanting to say “Liara”), stuck on the raven crew.
Thief seems like the worst class to play this fight with, because apparently the “revealed” debuff is permanent in this fight…
Why in the world would they do that o.O
It’s Anet, nuff said. Meaning they didn’t test it properly or didn’t think it all the way out.
The Revealed debuff is caused by Master Gunner Adil. It says so on the buff itself. I goes away the instant you kill Adil as well.
By “they didn’t test it properly” I guess you were referring to yourself, eh?
More like I was referring to how several builds are punished during the gauntlet, as are some classes.
Somebody sticky this thread and make Anet read the first 2 posts over and over again. They need to memorize this for the future, because the last 3 living stories have had at least 1 thing too punishing in each of them.

A big point to make is between Strugar and Chomper, and Liadri there is a huge spike in difficulty that does not coincide with a proportionate scaling system.
This right here.
Also, if I were to give a description of the fights between Strugar and Chomper and the fight with Liadri using Devil May Cry 4 difficulties, S&C is You Must Die! mode, and Liadri is Hell or Hell mode (aka the mode where you get 1 shot and it’s hard to kill anything).
My main complaint with this fight, btw, is the fact that as a ranger, it’s near impossible for me to do since my pet, aka 30% of my DPS, gets 1-shot no matter what I do. If I could kite her with my pet taking like 10% damage from the clones and the dark beams, I wouldn’t complain so much since phase 2 would actually be doable. -_-
Which is why the staff would just be complete support…at least if I made the skills for it I would. That way it’s not powerful enough to warrant using for damage, but useful enough in groups that Rangers can actually do more for group play.
$5 says it’s probably Primordus if it’s a dragon. He’s the only dragon who lives underground who could possibly pull it off.
Nono Quark, if anything, we keep all of these…but instead of 1-shotting, they should 2 or 3 shot (meaning 33% or 50% of your max HP with each hit), that way you’re allowed to make SOME mistakes, but too many will kill you. There, the fight isn’t as annoying, but it’s still challenging.
I want challenging.
I do not 1 shots everywhere, build favoring, time limits, profession favoring, and having 2 minute boring trips to walk all the way back to the location.
This right here…this is my thought on it too.
You’re lucky you even got her down that far. 80 tries and I’ve never even seen her under 75% (using my ranger).
You have to keep doing the daily that has something dealing with the living story…for the next 2 days.
Ryu, I’m not sure, i can imagine an elf like archer having a staff but ranger is all about being an archer, who can wield swords. Scholars should always have the, staff even if some staff on profession are meh.
We have access to nature spirits. It wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary for us to use staves to have more access to the powers of nature. Or we use them like a quarterstaff and go close range on them.
That fixed that problem, thanks! Now if only she wasn’t so annoying to deal with…because I can’t DPS her down without my pet. :/
EDIT: 80 tickets used on phase 2 deaths, never seen her below 75% health…yeah, she needs a nerf bad, at least in the HP department.
(edited by RyuDragnier.9476)
My problem with this fight so far is several things.
1. If I use my Ranger’s GS#4 to block, and if her regular attack hits me, I COUNTER ATTACK THIN AIR instead of continually blocking like I’m supposed to.
2. The fact that the light portals you use can spawn ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE ARENA. This makes it impossible for you to get any of her helpers in there, and guarantees a loss.
3. Said helpers can also 1-shot you if they get close, which will happen if and when you lag.
4. The fact that her AoE attack suddenly starts hitting most of the field easily when you hit phase 2.
(edited by RyuDragnier.9476)
I heard they plan on giving each class access to 1 more weapon from the overall weapon pool. But if your necromancer gets torch, I want the Ranger to get a staff that functions for group support with nature-type skills.
Actually, I realized something…what if Jennah was kidnapped again and a watchknight has replaced her? It was shown in the opening ceremony that it isn’t out of the question to create an exact replica of somebody Logan knows. If so, then things are going to get really hectic really fast.
If they do the solitary, REMOVE THE kitten TIME LIMIT! Seriously, the time limit only serves to force people to basically go glass cannon just to beat the bosses in time to succeed in this gauntlet.
Bull. I don’t build my toons to be glass cannons. And I can do it. Learn the fights.
I did. I had to switch to GC just to kill certain bosses before the time limit was up, because my usual trap build wasn’t pulling it off fast enough.
From watching Liadri fights, it looks like the fight dealing with Mai Leng from the Aetherblade Dungeon in the amount of multitasking going on, save for less aggravation in the form of 1 minute cannonfire (couldn’t resist~). Me likey that.
