Then people would complain of doing alot of work for nothing. That is way more unfair.
It’s not ‘unfair’. It’s perfectly fair, since the event can actually be done.
Saying that players should get rewarded for failure because they done their best is like giving bankers bonus’ for managing to NOT crash the economy throughout the year.
GW2: Video Game
Banking: Not Video Game
Then people would complain of doing alot of work for nothing. That is way more unfair. The reward for completing it isnt much better than failing anyways.
A surprisngly not bad idea. It doesnt change the overall payout, just lets people do it more at their pace. Im ok with this.
Full of vanity taggers most likely to feel special about their spending 100 gold on a tag for a mode they probably never even tried. Sounds harsh but is honestly what Id expect. As for a chat for WvW commanders to actually coordinate, Id be for it, but it relies on the commanders to take advantage of it. Would help across areas though, if say a commander or two were in EB and others in the BLs.
The real issue is commander tags should be earned through a means beside coin.
My issue is they are timed. If they never went away, then I would say they can be as hard as they want and you just have to get better. But they are not, so you have to be good enough now. I beat Belcher’s Bluff’s masters before the event ended cause I had to before it was too late. Otherwise Id have waited awhile. Same with the guantlet. I dont to do it much, but I dont want to miss out either. If it was permenant with the same reward then I would say you have to earn it, but since its going away rather soonish, it should be doable by anyone who puts the effort in at all.
As a WvWer, Commander Tags in PvE just come off as vanity tags. Not that Id be rude to them, but it just seems pointless since few ever actually command anything. Though if I saw a WvW commander I respected in PvE, Id be keen to following them, but I already know who they are. Plus as WvW will teach, having the gold doesnt mean you have the skill. Ive seen good tagless commanders, and horrible tagged commanders.
Not every issue has to be dealt with so black and white. If something doesnt work, fix it, dont remove it.
PvE is the bulk of the game. Its the main part…ofcourse it gets the most focus, and it should. I love WvW, but I know its not the main part of the game. Its a side thing, a bonus game mode.
Fair? It is fair.
Those who voted and took part in the election system got what they wanted. They were able to take part in something and vote for a candidate they wanted.
Those who didnt care about a virtual election of some NPC got nothing for this except token for an event they didnt care about. This is what those people get out of it.I didnt get what I wanted. I voted for Evon.
You got what you wanted. You wanted Evon to win, your vote gave him a better chance. The outcome didnt turn as you wished it to turn fair enough but you made your mark just like everyone else who voted.
“You got what you wanted. You wanted Evon to win” Uh, he didnt win.
but you took part and were well aware that your chosen candidate might not win. I don’t take part in facades of democracy, whether in game or real life
If there was no reward for the tokens, this wouldnt be an issue. If the reward was more fair, there wouldnt be an issue. Sure, people would always argue, but sometimes its just arguing, sometimes its an issue.
While arguing about the value of tokens vs buttons, it hit me. Us Evon voters are the middle child. The older child, Kiel voters, they get their way, deciding everything for the rest of us.
The younger child, the non-voters, get the reward from selling their unused tokens.
What do we, the middle child Evon voters get? Buttons…
Just a random thought with a humourous aim more than anything, but a thought I had that amused me.
This was part of my logic for voting for Evon. Kiel is a soldier, not a politician. Evon would happily be a council member, he ISNT a soldier. Kiel is gonna be quite bored sitting at her desk while her former comrades get to fight. Its my only solace in having my candidate lose…
I didnt get what I wanted. I voted for Evon.
You knew that was a possible outcome. You still got to partake in the event to vote that you obviously cared about who won.
Yeah, but I should not be punished for partaking in the event. If the buttons are also sellable, then I am not punished. If just the tokens are sellable, I am punished.
Yeah, would be better. I hate feeling like I need to hoard, just in case.
Fair? It is fair.

It might as well, most cash shop games dont have a box price, getting rid of that cost to get in will bring in more gem store addicts. Make Guild Wars 1 F2P too.
That would be a bad thing. Cash Shop games are a blight on gaming.
This is a cash shop game, it sells in game currency for cash.
Do you have to use it to buy races? How bout classes? Or whole regions? Maybe some quests require gems? No? Then its not. Play Marvel Heroes if you want a cash shop game. Or Runescape.
Each cash shop game is built differently, but just because they sell a box doesnt hide the fact that this game is a cash shop game like the rest, who do not sell a box. Albiet this one has the most production quality , i think the box sales have paid for that and then some, they’re not needed anymore and if anything prevent people from playing this game and spending money in the cash shop, probably spending the same amount theyd wouldnt spend on a box.
A cosmetic panda hat doesnt really compaire to other games. Yeah, ideally Id prefer it not there at all, but when its just stuff I can easily do without, its not so bad. But still, making it f2p is only going to make everything worse since it will encourage things besides cosmetic fluff.
Fair? It is fair.

If players continue this behavior I have a feeling the only lesson learned here will be by Arenanet… Dont do nice things for players, they’re just unable to appreciate the gesture.
Well, its kinda like scenes after credits at a movie. Yeah, its cool if you waited and saw it, but if you left when it ended, you missed out. Now many people often wait after credits wondering if anything will happen… but then it feels wasteful if it doesnt happen. Im one of those waiters, I dont delete old event stuff now, in fear I will miss out…it encourages hoarding of tokens, which leads to clutter. Maybe it wouldnt be so bad if they said what we can do with the tokens after, at the start of the event. If this next part said “Use this token to get this during event, can be sold/traded after” then atleast we would be made aware.
People keep proving my point after my posts -. -
What about the buttons? If we can sell those too, perhaps for more, would reward the voters more.
I don’t think those who voted deserve special treatment, but I think at least the same as those who didn’t is in order.
We participated. Half of us got screwed, since we voted for Evon. If we get more reward, it encourages participating. If we dont, it sends the message “it pays more to not participate in our events”. So yes, we do deserve special treatment.
Point proven in post below.
I would also point out, Guild Wars 1 still cost money to buy it. That would have to go free before GW2 ever did.

I like using my badges for armor skins.
GW1 Charr are mostly the now outcasted Flame Legion, should remember that. Playable Charr are from Blood, Iron and Ash, and hate Flame Legion. Just putting it out there for people reffering to GW1.
Someone hasnt learned how to make items account bound. To be fair though, for all those who want supposed immersion, it would not make sense for you to give your Asura’s boots, to a Charr or Norn and expect them to fit. My only issue with soulbound so far was when I accidentially soulbound a Desert Rose without equiping it. Tried applying the skin to an unbound back item, expecting to get a Desert Rose with bound on equip. Good thing I didnt use my Shattered Wings skin to try it…
….What? This game IS f2p as far as Im concerned. Cant pay for one game? Seriously. F2P games are scams anyways. If it changed to that, we’d end up PAYING for everything, and then the game will fail for real, tleast in terms of integrity. Who wold making it free try to attract anyways? Facebook gamers? Ive spent a bit less than I have spend on most games I own, and yet have gotten more playtime on this game than I have Skyrim.
I dont usually flip like this, but before GW2 I only played “f2p” MMOs….and I dont want to go back there… my biggest draw to this game is how its a FULL game without a sub fee or overbearing cash shop. Anyone who thinks the gem store is that bad has never been told they had to buy a class, race, or region.
My preffered weapons on Ranger is Longbow/Shortbow. I hate sword, its too unruly. Axe makes me feel weak, I dont feel like Im hitting anything.
My warrior uses hammer/rifle, though its bow is good.
Well, water combat is does nto come up much, and it feels simplified. Underwater enemies are generally weaker though. It could be improved, but it could also have been way worse than it is. I just wish skills would let you know they do or dont work underwater. Always a pain trying to pick a skill for the elite slot for my characters.
Mesmer using an Ascalon Staff (the gear one) and wearing Aetherblade armor.
THE most? Guardian most, mesmer least. As for my own, Necro most, guardian least.
Take a break? I take breaks often from GW2. Then I tend to come back in full force.
The thing is…people are dumb and easily offended sometimes, and anyone can be offended by anything. Some things offend me, but I realize they only really offend me so I dont make a big deal about it. I just hate censorship. Were it up to me, there would be no kitten, but the actual swears. Just when people start attacking eachother is when its an issue, but you can attack someone without swearing too.
Ive gotten into discussions in map chat that some people did not like. Not because they were offensive, they just did not like talking about it, but should that mean we are to not talk? I’d rather encourage people talking more. GW2 is quiet enough as it is.
I actually wont mind it, but I can understand why people might get bothered by it…but its not the worst thing in the world, just hope people remember that. Better to have pooled gold than a crowded inventory/bank.
I like dailies. It doesnt kill me to miss them, but its a good goal to get me playing if I lack a different goal. I also like to kill two birds with one stone. I need to do events in Kryta? Guess I will get some map completion in a Kyrta area.
No sub fee, but still a full game and you can earn cash shop stuff without ever spending a real dime beyound game price. And the encouragement of exploration and co-operation, even with strangers. I dont have to worry about kill stealers, and dont have to worry I will upset people if I help.
Ive thought of the idea of merely removing the 3 lowest pop servers. Would be a good idea for WvW, but for all the people with guilds and friends all together in those servers, it would suck. If GW2 was just WvW, Id support this idea, but more people would get mad than happy with the change, and that just refers to those legitimatly upset.
I am on FC, one of the lower population NA servers. I witnessed a conversation in LA a few days ago that went something like this:
Player 1: Why don’t people go to WvW? We’re always outnumbered.
Player 2: People on this server don’t like to WvW.
Player 3: Yeah, but we don’t PvE that much either. But, we can sure field a Queensdale zerg or a large group to kill Teq/Shatterer/Fire Ele/SB/Maw.
TL:DR: just because people aren’t flocking to what you like, doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of people doing something, somewhere on the server.
Im also on FC, but I guest alot, and you really can see the difference sometimes between servers. One of our few advantages as a small server though, is I was confused for a long time when everyone was complaining about long queue times and overflow, since Ive only once ended up on either while in FC. Yeah Queensdale is always full of people on FC, but Im sure Blackgate has Queensdale as one of its more populated areas too, but compaire the two Queensdale pops and Im wagering a massive difference in numbers.
It seems like a reasonable idea honestly. I generally choose 2 weapons that offer differet uses, usually a close range/melee weapon and a range weapon, why not let me set my skills to reflect that? It sucks when you have the wrong skill set up for your situation, and you cannot change them until you leave combat, why not give us atleast one other set choice?
“I dont like something…no one must have it.” Forum logic. Not everything is made for you. I dont get upset when PvP gets an update, even though I dont like it. Why? Cause sometimes things I do like get updates, and PvP people shouldnt be complaining, why should I?
How much did the game cost? That much. Thats it. Got 9 character slots and a second bank tab though. Yay gold for gems.
Because people need to pretend GW2 is a grindy game when really people are just too stupid to have fun. My best equipment is some exotic pants, but I still have tons of fun.
Then we would have to have an ingame reason for having 30+ pets without having an animal army always following us. Sometimes its better to let little things slide. Being immersed doesnt mean you have to actually forget its a game.
If you transmute two items and choose that items look, then yes.
I got it on my second ever Shatterer event. Didnt even think I would. Maybe use a class that hits alot of targets. I was using my necro with a staff.
Theres alot of negativity on the forums cause most of the people who enjoy the game are playing it instead. I love GW2, but I also love arguing to be honest.
My main draw to GW2 is its a full MMO without the sub fee. I can come and go as I please.
I also dont have to focus much on stuff. I can do personal story, dungeons, WvW, map completion, or just hang out. Other games I am playing are done when you beat them, or I have to do this or that. Good when Im into it, but sometimes I just like messing around.
Ranger. They use short and longbow. My ranger usually has both weapons set to those, using lognbow for long range, and shortbow for close up fights.
Warriors can only use longbow, and thieves can only use shortbow.
Yes its unbalanced. Sadly, balance is a very hard thing to achieve. But the balance, or lack of, changes in each area of the game. Elementalists do poorly in PvE, but in WvW do rather well. Same with thieves, they seem to have trouble in PvE, but most WvW people list thieves as the top in WvW.
All but one of my female characters are medium armor…which is unintentional since I like looking cute, and medium armor is not cute. Light is, and some heavy, but my only non medium armor female is my Asuran…and they wear the male varient.
My prettiest character is probably my male Sylvari…. maybe when I finish using my 9th character slot to do all the beggining personal stories I missed, I will make a light armored female human or something…
