Mmm not war because it’s not a weakness,no to the thief that would require consecutive incoming hits completely against theme,no to engi while Juggernaut is FT exclusive cc and blocks were the make up for the weakness, ele probably because sword is definitely not going to be copy and paste of d/d and utilities not a copy and paste of cantrips.

All they have to do is lower trap CD significanty, give them more traited sustain or baseline ones and make the line less restrictive and less basic.

About support it will come through Blood Magic and maybe a bit through Death Magic.

For that we have the new shout, unblockable attacks for up to 9 seconds…
It’s not enough for me to scream :“Defenses are useless!!” at my foes

Much better than i was expecting. Im very happy about the spec. The choice of defence and offense and solo orientated traits is really nice to see. And finally we get a might trait that isnt locked behind a broken ICD. Please keep that as it is! The numbers on it look good when you compare it to forceful greatsword.
The mention about blood magic and core specs is really encouraging. Little disappointed about the lack of blasts and active defence but maybe they can address that somewhere else.
I think they dont really want to give us blasts and more active defence but give us something more necro like.
At least give us projectile destruction.

No I love necro but no chill should never affect initiative the movement reduction alone with other conditions can turn the tide. Your issue is with something else like no LF at start and slow cast times.
The chill vs thieves issue affects all classes not just necros, it is just broken design. Even Mesmer’s power block does not affect thieves’ weapon skills..

No everything affects DS look at it, while improvements might be coming DS is much more a hindrance than that. It’s not broken design they realized that and added weakness to PB, thief is king of mobility reduction of it is already strong especially with low cleansing and that’s why they have skills dedicated to remove them.

Good ideas but there is still unknown info about core specializations,skills/weapons and core issues like no LF at start but definitely a lot of possible improvements. I was thinking it would take 3 years to see this kind of possibilities but it might be coming sooner, I am still neutral until I test them myself AKA give it to me!!

Well its nice that our siphons work in shroud but i think its just distracting us.
I just think it won’t work, we needed that defiance bar and lockdown mesmers are just going to rip us apart. I thought our saving grace was if they made all shouts stunbreakers but they didnt.
Its cool and all but i think the reality is that is just will not work as they expect it to. Typical necro tbh looks good on paper but just gets destroyed by interrupts.
Another this is that they talked about the big wind up paying off in trade for big damage but I just didn’t see enough base damage on the skills apart from #2.
Numbers are still in work but they have a good base so far now we need info on core specializations and skills.

I really hope to see a boost in lifesteal and shouts that spread lifesteal out will happen. I’m cautiously optimistic.
If you are optimistic about lifestealing, then perhaps you haven’t been paying enough attention. Life stealing has always been mediocre, even back in GW1. Now it is mediocre again in GW2. They have had 3 years to fix it, but when Signet of Vampirism was introduced, once again they dropped the ball (and made the most useless skill in the game). Then some time later, there’s a big patch, and SoV is on that list. Once again, still useless, because the patch did nothing to improve SoV.
Over 10 years of life stealing being rubbish! Is there any reason to be even remotely optimistic about life stealing ever becoming good?
Being cautiously optimistic does not mean I haven’t been paying attention. It just means that I choose to believe that we will eventually get a fix to it even though we haven’t seen it yet. Maybe not even in this elite spec, but in a future one that they choose to take inspiration from another classic horror film icon (vampires).
As for GW1, life stealing wasn’t too bad. It just got overshadowed by the incredibly versatile MM (and in some elite content Orders). Not to mention the Touch Ranger was very much alive and dreaded for a long time.

Necromancer has a high power ceiling but also an extremely high learning curve.
I don’t believe we have really seen what strong Necromancers can do yet.
After three years this still feels condescending.
If no Anet staff or necro player has reached this level of strength they speak of that shows a lot about the class imo.

Exactly my thoughts, but today is a big chance for anet to turn things around, along with all the work The Gates Assassin did for us. Let’s see what the give us before bashing them again, is all I’m saying.
Major props btw to The Gates Assassin for relaying our concerns. I really hope they answer our pleas. What ever happens next, I trust Gates did his best.
That was about core specializations but yes we appreciate his reports.

I have a feeling reapers will have lots of stability and resistance. Maybe even Defiance if that ever comes to players.

Think I’m reading your reply wrong. You think the new build will be more PvE focused instead of PvP focused because it’s possible that no new dungeons are coming? I’m not sure I follow your logic there. :-/
It will definitely be more open world focus but their presentation and focus on making reaper a big bad unstoppable boss seems heavy PvE focused we know how we deal with these bosses… I doubt they would choose that to describe a PvP spec players can try tough.

Not sure why I didn’t see much about it. I may have even missed it in the write up, but that first move seems to also freeze enemies? That’d be kind of a cool Aoe interrupt…
Probably a unique stun like icebow 5

Seems slow is being a little too read into. The skills displayed seemed perfectly executable, especially in a team fight. And if that AOE hits hard like Trident#5 I could imagine it punishing people pretty hard. The skills seemed no slower than warrior Hammer or any other necro spell. I’d rather rely on those than current Life blast, that’s for sure, which has like an effective 1.4 cast time.
Not to mention you already have weapons with “slow” attacks (Guardian and Warrior Hammer anyone?) that still get used alot in PvP. Heck, Medi Hammer Guardian is part of the freaking meta with all of the 2-5 skills having either 3/4s or 1s cast times, with the final strike of the AA chain taking a whole 1 1/4 second to connect.
Though granted, Guards and Wars have a lot more stability than Necros do, so here’s hoping one of the shouts or traits they haven’t shown covers that part of it.
Let’s all remember guardian has high active defense capabilities and all but 2 med are instant, let’s remember what happened to zerker war they went from quickness addicts to hambow to cele LB Ax/Sw to cele shouts..war is the closest class in design to us. Let’s see how this big bad unstoppable slow but terrifying boss does vs players

Let’s all calm down and remember they want the reaper as big bad unstoppable boss like a PvE boss slow but heavy hitting another reason the defiance will probably be found in a GM, PvE boss vs PvE boss seems fair… this is not suited for PvP based on current info unless we get low CD on soft cc and of course ice auras and refelects, if we still have this DS is enough defense at least punish foes for hitting us. Hell I might avoid GS and use the rest but of course we have to wait for PoI.

Thief will be mixed with engi,engi with guardian,ele with mesmer,ranger with ele, war with thief. I forgot what they are doing with revenant but I’m pretty sure it’s not getting mixed new legend or additional options for existing ones or something like that?

I just want my conditions to be a viable damage option and purposely not be against bosses with over 9000 vitality and negative toughness. I am not anti zerk I am just a damage activist

The traps are actually not that good imo the CD,lack of traded support and even the animations. On ranger you could take 3 traps but still have a great healing+regen+cleansing and carry evades,on thief you link them to SA with Trapper Runes without those thief traps would be ultimate trash I hate how they made me slot them but I did the trait changes also seem to improve them and ranger traps are getting rework.
So yep they can start by lowering CD on traps and not make the line (forgot name) not so basic and somewhat less restrictive.
No, no, no. If a ranger takes traps, they lose mobility, condition cleanse, breakstun, stability, and defensive skills. That’s why so few people aside WvW ranger takes traps, and they only take traps because of trapper rune.
You guys can cleanse with f2, access to block (heal, elite, aegis), projectile defelction on f3, symbols that grant vigor, even without putting utilities in it.
By cleansing I meant Healing Spring and EB,weapons do carry evades and a certain level of disengage, you can run 2 traps fire & spike with lightning reflexes & entangle with recharge reduction. Guardian need proper traits to survive HP too low but they need the traits. We’ll see how their trap ends up.

The Mesmer and Guardian forums have had active ANet posts in them since their spec/elite spec reveals.
Us? Bugger all.
The sheer level of developer bias is so evident and so disheartening.
They wanted feedback on something they asked in the stream for guardian, and mesmers complained that their traits were not shown on their stream, maybe you should wait until after the reaper stream to start complaining for a red post.
I have been waiting for one for close or more than 2 years for base necro, so the extension of my class gets more attention then my class

Yup. It was mentioned on the live stream but they didn’t spend any time on it.
I thought that was just a Mesmer thing, where all the bouncing attacks would gain an extra bounce baseline since they were removing Illusionary Elasticity?

The game will get faster, quickness will be more frequent,slow will always be used on necro first imo,cc is getting more frequent,initiation burst is more frequent (we are weak at 0 LF), the GS is melee and approximately 54 more reasons it’s not good looking at least gameplay wise.
I’ll sacrifice that 10% less damage from chilled foes for ice auras and reflect, one of the two has to be present. Since it’s not in minor traits we could still get the defiance bar in a GM…over two not better ones. They want us to be unstoppable and feel like a big bad guy,like a boss a PvE boss slow but damaging. I wasn’t lying to myself when I kept stating necro’s core design is similar to GW2 HP sponge bosses…look at what happens to the bosses…hell ever heard “the good guys always win”?

But is it enough when Engineers can spew out tons of knockbacks to go through that break bar while providing might and lots of blast finishers? What about Mesmers that can lob interrupt and stuns back to back all the while providing quickness and reflects?
That’s okay we have DS we are unstoppable!!!
Hell I’m surprised mesmer is doing better than us shatter is more PvP focused then DS if it has a focus, we still have the chance of high condition damage mobs,mobs weak to conditions and a chance that mobs might attack more often.

I just proper attrition and removal of our limitations, necro doesn’t have to bring support it could bring it’s unique utility but mobs doesn’t favor it especially boon/condition control. So far to me Reaper just looks good I guess we should be more focused on core specializations.

This is a hybrid shout, jagged horrors can fit in all specs I rather keep it that way. They do also have bleed on AA they don’t last long enough tough…
